I'm not one to write reviews but what I experienced in La Mesa today was unacceptable and needs to be addressed. This was the worst dining experience I've ever encountered in my entire life. A group of 12 of us came to celebrate a birthday. The service was HORRIBLE, slow and our server was beyond rude. Our server, Yanly rolled her eyes numerous times as she took our order. It took about 25-30 minutes to receive drinks and appetizers. The menus and dirty plates stayed on the table the majority of the lunch. She rarely passed by to check on us and when she did she wouldn't remove any plates so our table was accumulating dirty dishes... by the time our entrees came our server shoved the plates around leaving us with a table full of entrees and dirty dishes. I had to clean the table myself and remove the dirty plates/menus as if I worked in the restaurant to be able to eat with the group. Aside from that, half the table got their entrees 30 minutes after the other half. All other servers and staff members were just as lazy, we'd wave them down and call them over and they'd completely ignore us. At the end of the lunch our server incorrectly charged us on a plate. When we approached her she denied it and told us we had ordered a plate that we never received. At this point, we all just wanted to leave this place so I asked for the manager and the hostess asked me to go get him! LOL and pointed out a man in a blue hat and white shirt towards the back. As I walked myself to him he grabbed a girl (seemed to be a girlfriend, not sure) faced her towards the bar, grabbed her by the hips and dry humped her to the song that was playing. I tapped him mid dancing, asked him if he was a manager and he said yes. I kindly told him to change the receipt and he did so, with a very embarrassed look on his face. I work in the restaurant business, and I have to say I can't believe this place is up and open. I will never return, neither will any of the 12 guests. What a waste of money and time. read more

I came to this place in hopes of high expectations according to their reviews online. I came with a big group and we didn't get our order in until and hour and a half later, the service was awful and the music was extremely loud. The food itself wasn't the best, I had ordered churrasco tostones and the meat was regular Bistec and the toston itself was so so so soggy that everything just fell apart. Very disappointed with the service and food and will never spend money to come back here again. Don't forget that I also had to pay $10 parking fee (NOT valet) and $10 for the show that in reality was just three awful singers screaming instead of singing. read more

Honestly, I have really mixed feelings about this place. I had an idea of what I was getting into because I had read the reviews on here but it seemed so fun, I wanted to check it out anyways. On one hand, the music, the atmosphere, and the drinks were amazing. I came for my birthday with a few friends and had a blast. I love that we have a cool, modern place like this closer to the suburbs and don't have to go all the way to Downtown/Brickell/Wynwood/Miami Beach for a good time. On the other hand though, the food and the service was pretty terrible. They took a really long time both taking and bringing our orders. They gave us a drink on the house to make up for it. Okay, cool, thanks. I can't speak for my friends but I when I finally got my food, it was basically cold. I ordered the vaca frita and it was flavorless and bland. I couldn't even add salt or pepper to make it at least a little better because there was no salt or pepper on our table to begin with. The thing that really left a bad taste in my mouth was the service though. Specifically from the manager. For some context: their menu has a section called "Miami Food" and another "Traditional". A lot of the dishes are the same except under "Miami Food", it's a little different and has more stuff. One of my friends wanted the "Arroz con huevo" from the Miami Food part which consisted of arroz con huevo (duh), churrasco, and a bunch of other stuff ($24). She ended up getting a Traditional churrasco ($18) without all that extra stuff but asked for an egg. Waitress said sure, no prob. We get the bill, and my friend notices they charged her $24 for the arroz con huevo instead of $18 for the churrasco. Obviously upset, we ask the waitress and she said "no sorry that's just what it is". A whole $6 for ONE egg??? Are you freaking kidding me? $1 extra maybe but SIX? Of course we ask to speak to the manager who was INCREDIBLY rude and snarky. He said that's what she ordered and there's nothing he can do. He said he even GAVE us extra sides on the house (bullsh** , no he didn't). We let it go because we were having a good time and didn't wanna get in a bad mood. But really that's outrageous and unacceptable. Overall, I recommend this place only if you're looking for good drinks and entertainment. Their food and service needs serious improvement. I hope that when I decide to give this place a second chance, they've gotten their sh*t together. read more

We went early on Friday night to try it out before the crowd. For being empty at 7 pm, the service was HORRIBLE! The best service was from the guy who brought the food out. Turns out tip is included... so they don't care. Horrible service won't go again because of that. The food was pretty good. The tostones with churasco were good and had good pieces of meat. I really wanted to love this place.The place was really cute and they did a great job with the decor and set-up. The drink I had was good and well priced during happy hour. The food was ok. Granted it was the day after their grand opening. I had to put salt on my churasco and loaded tostones. The place was by no means full and the service was slow. Food came out at different times and we even canceled one of our items because it took so long we had already finished eating. Also no palomilla steak (which I was going to order for my kids). What Cuban restaurant doesn't have that??? In my opinion, everything should be on point when you are first starting out. One main dish, 2 appetizers, 1 cocktail and 2 diet cokes were $60 (just for reference). Each diet coke was $4 a can, for Westchester, a bit steep. The 2 cokes were more than my 1 Martini. Food wise if your in Miami and want Cuban food go to Havana Harry's. For drinks and appetizers in Westchester La Mesa is a cute spot. I probably won/t go back. read more

I am a little Iffy about this place. I met with a couple of friends at this place for a birthday getty and i wasn't fully impressed. On one hand, the music and the atmosphere at this place was nice. They had advertisement that a DJ would be there at 8 pm but didn't get there until 9:30 pm which was fine because it was worth the wait. Now, on the other hand there really isn't much i can say about the food i ordered. I ordered Fufu con chicharrones (pork belly). The fufu was nothing like the fufu i have had at other places.. AT ALL!!! Other than that i was not able to take a single bite on the pork belly sice it was so hard. When the waitress asked if i wanted a box to take leftover i explained the reason for my leftover. No where between my complaint about the food was i offered to have my plate changed or a discount on my bill. I paid $18 for a plate i didn't finish eating nor did i enjoy! There were 2 other families eating, so total there were 3 tables being served. Our waitress took forever to take our order. I had to get up from my table to get someone to come attend our table; the sampler we ordered cost $38!!!!! The croquetas tasted horrible, they are not your typical ham croquetas. I don't know what they were made of. And yet the order of a large Churassco with Moro and plantains (Main Dish) only cost $18. The chimichurri was very questionable. Great place to come on the weekends for dinner and brunch! The food is great but the service really lacks. I went on a weekend night and the bar was so slow it would take upwards of 45 minutes to get a glass of wine every time. Then I went for brunch and the same thing! The service was super slow. It's a shame that the owners and managers are not reading the reviews or if they are reading them, they are not improving the service. The restaurant is in desperate need of a good management team and well trained staff. Relatively new restaurant located in Westchester. It was recommended by our daughter that had gone to a baby shower there. We went for breakfast and found it to be clean and welcoming. Looked it could do a nice happy hour during the week. I had the cabal plate which came with steak, eggs and french fires. Large plate, good but I could not finish it. My wife had the cubanito which also came with fries. Both were good, but our server told us that normally the dishes come with their home potatos but they were out. If you're a Miami native and grew up in Westchester, your mom went grocery shopping in el Gallo de Oro. That's the spot where La Mesa is located now! What a perfect place to go to tonight. My puppy was in the ER all day and will be there until Sunday, at least . My hubby and I needed sustenance after such a trying day. La Mesa lifted our spirits with amazing food, friendly service, great bar, live music, dancing and a front room with a library vibe. We had 2 tapas: lobster croquetas and a sampler platter for 2 that included tostones, mahi chunks, masitas 2 ways, queso frito and tomato & avocado salad. All delicious! Dessert was cuatro leches in a tiny cup that was perfect size! Where else in Miami can you go dressed in cut-off denim shirts, a tee-shirt full of puppy hair and be seated next to a table of 20 dressed to the nines for a birthday party?!? I will most definitely return with as many friends that will appreciate being in a place that feels like home! Thank you so much for a great night! read more

I love the place and especially because it's close to home. I gave it 4 stars because of the service. It has potential, but they need to either hire experience waitress or provide a training. We waited for our drinks and food for a long time. Long time for me is 15-20 minutes. I plan to visit again soon and I hope they make the changes, because without good service they won't make it here in Miami. Oh and they ran out of some of the food we ordered and told us after we waited. So make sure you ask if they have what you are ordering, before you order. read more

After seeing Chef Frankie post about La Mesa, we decided to give it a try. I can definitely say that we had an enjoyable experience overall. From the moment you walk in, you are captivated by very tropical displays and catchy neon signs. Upon being seated, our waitress came over to take our drink order. I'd say this was my one true complaint of the restaurant, no drink menu. While there was a full bar and she did tell us about their signature drink, there was no menu with cocktails to choose from. We ordered some cocktails and they were just okay. Food wise, we had no issues. The food was out fairly quickly and our waitress was overall knowledgeable on the menu. We ordered the sampler, it came with a vast amount of pork chunks, croquetas, fried yuca, and mariquitas. Our meals were all enjoyable traditional Cuban meals. During the day, they only gave us the option of the traditional Cuban dishes. We will definitely be back at night to try the fusion menu! read more

Since this terrible virus has been going on, is amazing to recreate a great date's night at home. We pick la Mesa very often. Now that we are in quarantine we can have an amazing dinner, very fast delivery and great costumer service. My husband and I were celebration our 27 year anniversary. My husband made reservation 4 days prior for 7 PM. We arrived and despite at the time they had plenty of comfortable seating we were in corner of small black table with not much room to spread Food. I asked waitress if we can find a more comfortable place she said sorry we are expecting a lot of people at 9 ( again it was only 7 and we were not walk ins we had reservations for dinner not tapas table. The service tonight was outstanding, Yuneisi was very professional and prompt to take our order and guide us through the menu. The food was also very delicious and came in at a reasonable time. The manager Jose was very friendly and invited us for Sunday brunch. I'm glad that the owners took some suggestions seriously and are now living up to their full potential. I was so excited to come and check out one of Miami's newest places. Unfortunately, from the moment I walked through the door I was disappointed. The first words from the hostess mouth was "Hello. Do you have a reservation?" When we said we did not have a reservation she rudely rolled her eyes and shrugged her shoulders as if she was suggesting that we were a bother to her. Since we did not quickly turn around and leave she suggested that we sit at the bar tables. We did in hopes of giving the restaurant a fighting chance. We were sat at the bar and when we asked for a bar menu we were told they don't have a cocktail menu but have a full bar. Honestly, I was so confused by this, how are you a brand new restaurant without a bar/cocktail menu or let's say a board with some cocktails. She didn't even make suggestions. We ordered the sampler that included croquetas de jamón, Yuca Frita, and Masitas de Puerco. It tasted like frozen Goya brand Yuca, and sédanos brand croquetas. The masitas de puerco we sub-par to say the least. After we ate the sampler we left. As we were walking out the manager or gentlemen standing at the hostesses stand asked if we were leaving already we quickly said yes. Overall, I really wanted to love this place because we do not have a lot of restaurants like this in Westchester. We all got in the car and are currently driving to Finka. read more

We were the first customers to arrive. The restaurant is beautiful, but the service wasn't up to par. The food was ok, it took forever to arrive. A waitress accidentally knocked a mimosa and it spilled on one of the guests, we were right in front of the hostess and a few other servers just stared and did nothing. This evening three of us went to this restaurant to have dinner. They asked us if we had a reservation and we said no, I asked if we needed one and the manager said no and that they were going to allow us to sit anyway. We took a seat and ordered our food. Thirty-five minutes in, I was halfway through our meal and the waitress comes to ask if the manager had told us that our table was reserved. We said no, the manager came over to our table and says he told us that we needed to be out in an hour because our table was reserved. He caught us totally off guard, mind you I wasn't even done with my meal and he was kicking us out of our table. When we told him we don't understand why he didn't just tell us that from the beginning his response was "I don't understand what's your problem, we are valuing our customers who made reservations" and my response was how about valuing your other customers as well!? A simple heads up would have been nice, we would have just respectfully chosen to go somewhere else. We immediately left our unfinished food and left. I asked him for his name and his response was "I don't want to waste any more time with you". I will never be back here. Way to ruin our entire dining experience. Couldn't even enjoy our food in peace. How is that even the proper response from a manager!? They did not even bother trying to fix the situation and did not value our business we spent almost $200 and they didn't even care. Don't waste your time or your money. Would leave less stars if I could. The server and the bartender were nice and looked equally annoyed at the situation and the manager's reaction.
