    Burger
    Alex D.

This place recently opened and we went for dinner. The initial impressions were not good but by the end of the night they somewhat redeemed themselves. The place is very nicely decorated. The person that attended to us was either new or having. Ma terrible day. She was very nervous and was not sure of what they had or didn't. When we ordered our food we asked for the yuca frita and asked how many mini burgers came in the order. She had no idea and then came back letting us know that they didn't have any left. We ordered 2 veggie pizzas, a churrasco with white rice and maduros, and a burger. We asked if the burger comes with lettuce and tomato and she first said yes. Then she confirmed that it doesn't come with it, so we asked if they can add lettuce and tomato and the first response was "no". But then another employee came and they did confirm they can add lettuce and tomato on the side. She came back a couple of minutes later asking what we wanted with the churrasco, although we had already said with rice and maduros but I guess she didn't write it down. She tells us there are no maduros so we chose tostones. The yuca fries came and after the first bite, they were still frozen inside... so far not a good experience with neither the service or the food. She apologized and said she was going to fire up a new batch. The 2nd time they came perfectly cooked. Then the food came. The burger was cooked very well. The fries that came with the burger were also great - crispy on the outside and creamy soft in the inside. The pizzas were also very good. The churrasco was expertly cooked. It was also a nice portion and we were very happy with how the food was prepared. While serving a soda, the girl dropped the bottle and broke at our feet. She was very apologetic and clearly not having a great day, but at the end of the day she was mostly nice, just maybe she needed to take the day off. We asked for the check and that is where I noticed they charged $15 for the 4 slices of tomato and couple of lettuce leaves we asked with the burger. Another bad practice of many restaurants now is that they included 18% gratuity but then they ask to add an additional 20, 22, or 25% when swiping the card. This practice of trying to sneak gratuity twice is annoying and show no integrity. In short, food is cooked very well, service needs to be better, don't add a side of tomato unless you think $15 for 4 slices is a fair price, and check the bill so you don't end up paying gratuity twice when the service is nice but mediocre.

When it comes Tom Cuban pizza this is my fav spot! The place is easy to find and has been remodeled, the staff is friendly. They have music playing at a good volume so you can still have a conversation, but back to the food, I had the Cuban pizza and the spaghetti and they were both delicious, the pizza was crunchy and had a lot of chorizo on top, the spaghetti was cooked nice and the sauce was a hit.

The music was great and people were enjoying their time. We had 1 cocktail each and went on our way because we just came to check out the spot honestly. I had the fabulous martini which has a purple hue to it, it was very refreshing. I love that they garnish it with a lavender. The espresso martini was made with Don Julio Reposado, and had real fresh espresso as per the menu. It was good but a bit strong too! We had asked for an extra shot of espresso on the side just as a pick me up. But our server told us that it comes cold, which is odd because the menu literally says freshly brewed espresso in the cocktail description. It was fine though, we still enjoyed the drinks. Overall, our experience was nice! If you are ever in the Hialeah area, you should totally check this spot out. They also have bites you can order but we were full from dinner and didn't get a chance to try anything. Definitely have to come back to try some more cocktails and grab some bites!

You'd think these folks just took your best friends magical back yard and created the most fun party in their house, but instead its at Understory and you can enjoy this oasis weekly on Thursday's and Fridays. I went for the first time last Thursday where I got to try a rum punch but with Mezcal that was delish. Then I moved on to a selection of delish wines and pizza by Flour and Weirdoughs. To say the vibe is impeccable is an understatement. I happily stayed until they closed at midnight, passing the time hanging out with friends and listening to the most fire playlist. They also have live jazz that starts at 9, which you can't really hear from the wine bar area since the space is so large, and DJs later in the evening as well as Friday. You can enjoy free entry before 8:30 pm. The best way to stay up to date on their weekly pop ups is to follow them on IG at @Understorymia. Can't wait to return!

Ironically, we happened to pass by on our way to dinner, and when I asked the bouncer, he told us kids were allowed--so in we went. While you can definitely hear the music, it's not overly loud and you can still have a comfortable conversation. The drinks were incredible, exactly what you'd expect from a Top 50 bar in the world. Watching the bartenders in action was a performance in itself, and my kids were completely amazed. We only stopped in for drinks, and since we were with kids, we were seated at the tables rather than the bar, which was totally fine. In the back, there's a speakeasy-style area that was dimly lit and lined with books, creating a really cool, intimate atmosphere. Overall, we loved the experience and will definitely be back.

We also had such a pleasure to Christian who I believe is the bar director of the bespoke program they uphold there. I proceeded to walk inside and I found a seat at the bar and I sat there. There were some people in there and I definitely wouldn't say it was dead, but it also wasn't crazy busy. There was three people working one lady with red shorts and curly hair another lady with blue pants and straight hair and then a short guy. I later seen a taller guy as I was leaving, he was not involved in my experience. The lady with the straight hair and the guy were on the side I was on they kept walking past and at no point seeing if I wanted anything, I know some bars you have to get the bartenders attention instead of them checking what you want so after 8minutes, I attempted to get the female's attention a few times for a few minutes and it did not work (she did serve other people during that time and was having conversation with ppl). Eventually, the lady with curly hair came to my side to make someone on her side's drink. I asked if I could order a drink and she motioned to give her a minute. She went back to her side, made the person's drink, then took some new orders from people and made their drinks and served beers.I waited over 6 minutes. Eventually she came to the side I was on and took the order of the person sitting directly to my right, completely ignoring me. At which point I concluded I was not going to get any service in this establishment and decided to leave after a total of 17 minutes of sitting at the bar and being completely ignored. I try to self reflect and think if I did something to warrant this treatment but I couldn't think of anything. The only thing that makes me feel slightly better is there was a guy sitting to my left that had a cup already and he kept trying to get her attention and she seemed to be avoiding him. I'm not sure if everyone was avoiding him for some reason and I was just unlucky for sitting next to him. I hated the feeling that this experience left me with and I hope no one else has this experience. The DJ was pretty good, even playing a few minutes of Reggae which surprised me. I ended up going to the Seminole Classic Casino and got service as soon as I sat down. The DJ was playing R&B and I ended up tipping him he was so good.

When I came last weekend the vibes were great, it was just extremely packed to the point that everyone was grinding up against each other. Which in that moment I didn't care because I figured it's at capacity and that's normal. Although, I realized when I was leaving the bar that someone had opened my purse and taken my entire wallet. I was bummed because I couldn't continue partying up the night. This led me to message them on Instagram, which was great because they told me to come in and drinks would be on them for the inconvenience. We got to the bar and I spoke with the bouncer and he said to go to the bartenders, that they would direct me to Rensel the bar manager. He was absolutely lovely, provided my friends and I a round of cocktails and told us to look for Sophia for another round. We didn't end up getting another round because we were exhausted from dancing the night away. It was still very nice and accommodating that they did that and we appreciated it. Sophia was very bubbly and attentive as well. Overall, if you are looking for a bar with a disco ball!! This is a cool spot to come to, they have so many different specialty cocktails.
