The Trio

We ate here a couple years ago and it was excellent! So when Rosie said "Let's go to La Mesa" ,,,, The ceviche looked tempting, as did the tar tar tuna and bangin shrimp. But another appetizer was the trio with all three. So I ordered it and Rose got chips and guacamole. The apps came I thought the tray was also for another table because there was a lot of food on the tray. But I was wrong. The "trio" was huge. Usually you get 1/3 portion of each. Not so. Each portion was very generous. And delicious!!! Really delicious! I almost regretted getting an entree. But the Filet Tacos were great. I'd like to leave a longer review with my wife's happiness over the meal, but I'm back here right now drinking a margarita and loving on The Trio, trying to pick another entree. The service is warm and friendly. The owners made us feel special. The server always had a smile. Be warned. You're gonna love this place. Jimmy D

Loved the margaritas! Bartender was cutting up beautiful fresh fruits as well. Only had some tortilla chips and salsa because we were going into AC for dinner but will definitely be back for dinner!

Really nice place. Fabulous atmosphere, delicious tacos, quesadillas and homemade chips. Happy hour looked fun, too. Our server was attentive. Definitely like this place.

I had an extremely disappointing and discriminatory experience at LaMesa Galloway. As a person with a disability, I rely on my service dog for assistance, and when I arrived at the restaurant, I was told by a staff member that my service dog was not allowed inside. The staff member, who identified himself as the owner/manager, approached me and asked for documentation regarding my dog. I explained that my 5 years old fully trained dog by a Stockton veterans is registered as a service dog with the Galloway Township, and that there is not documentation to show besides the dogs behavior and my word and a public health educator that advocates for the people with invisible disabilities, but he insisted that my statement was untrue. Both the owner/manager and a female bartender admitted they didn't know the ADA law and mentioned that they had "problems with dogs" in the past. However, I fail to understand how this should affect my legal right to have my service dog with me. When I explained that my service dog is protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the owner/manager falsely accused me of using "violent language" and asked me to leave, despite my remaining calm and respectful throughout the interaction. In response, I requested that they call the police, as their false accusations could potentially defame me in front of other customers. This kind of gaslighting and retaliation against a person with a disability is not only unjust but also dangerous and unacceptable. Thankfully, I recorded the entire interaction to protect myself. To make matters worse, after making a phone call, the owner/manager instructed me that I had to be seated at a high-top near the bar. I was with my 13-year-old daughter, and this seating arrangement was not only uncomfortable but also dismissive of our needs as customers. It is deeply troubling that a business, especially one led by the owner/manager, would be so unaware of the rights of individuals with disabilities. The ADA law clearly protects the right to be accompanied by service animals in all public spaces, including restaurants. The owner/manager's behavior, combined with the bartender's lack of knowledge about the law, was not only disrespectful but also illegal. I will not be returning to LaMesa Galloway and strongly advise others with service animals to be cautious when visiting. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes immediate steps to educate their staff on the rights of individuals with disabilities to prevent anyone else from facing this kind of mistreatment.

Excellent food, even better service. Everything tasted fresh and authentic! Satisfied and stuffed! We have the Birria nachos, surf and turf tacos and spicy chicken tostadas. Amazing!

Stopped here solo on business, sat at the bar. Ordered the grilled fish tacos and a margarita. Margarita was pretty good, but small, served in a tumbler style glass. Tacos were good but needed some shredded lettuce or cabbage for freshness and texture. Complimentary chips and salsa were tasty, two totally different salsas, enjoyed them both.

So glad that we did because it was excellent with great staff. We all really enjoyed the food. I loved my crab cake sandwich. It was so moist and flavorful. My husband loved his turkey platter. The gravy was delicious and the turkey was moist. My father in law enjoyed his burger. It was a good menu and tight in the middle of the cute little town. Would love to go back and try other things.

Served quickly and hot in a big, wide bowl. It looked good. Had small, irregularly sized potatoes and chopped carrots. The broth was a little thicker than I imagined or had tasted before in other restaurants, or in the one I make. Clams were tiny and, as you'd expect from a can. Not fresh clams. In fact, you can put all the clams found in chowder in a single tablespoon. Even found a whole bay leaf in it, which should have been removed before serving it. So, how is the chowder? I've had better from canned chowder, and the one I make is way better. Zero stars for the chowder. Next up is the Turkey platter with sliced turkey (hard and dry), 1 ice cream scoop of mashed potatoes (ok, nothing special), 1 ice cream scoop of stuffing (totally disgusting, and had corn in it), string beans (with vine still attached), gravy (terrible), and a little cup of cranberries (decent). Total fail. The waitress was ok, though stopping by every 5 minutes to ask if everything was good was quite annoying. The 'ice water gentleman' was great. You never asked for water, and when the glass was 1/2 empty, he was there refilling it. Great job! The final score of 2 stars is for the historic inn's ambiance and layout. We won't be back, and do not recommend.

Everybody else had the same idea as we did (it was PACKED for Labor Day Weekend!) but we still managed to grab a high top in the sun as most of the patrons were at the outdoor bar near the band or at the indoor bar. To no fault of their own, it was a little difficult to put in food/drink orders but the bartenders and servers were working incredibly hard and non-stop. We had an array of different drinks including Rum Runners, Tequila Sunrises, Rum & Cokes, and draft beers (pretty good craft options on tap if I must say - we had Dogfish Head 60 min IPA and Dogfish Head Grateful Dead). My mom and fiancé really liked their Rum Runners and I loved my Tequila Sunrise. We eventually put food in as well, just a bunch of appetizers to split which we love to do. We had Garlic Parm Tails (sauce was good!), Nachos, and Drunken Clams. The Middlenecks were cooked well and served in a white wine butter sauce. The food is pretty much what you'd expect from a dive-esque bar. Even with the hour long drive we had both ways, the location being right on the water and the vibes offer plenty of reason to keep coming back.

The one time we went for the World Cup and they opened early in the morning to catch the games live and provided everyone with a free breakfast buffet. This last time we went we brought some friends and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. I had the Caribbean Salmon salad and it was very good. The draft beer selection is great and they have a nice variety of wines and specialty cocktails. The service this time was unfortunately lacking, although the server was very pleasant and efficient as much as he could be. The problem is that he was the only one serving in a very crowded table area. I was going to give four stars for this review because of the service, but I know from past experience that this was not the norm.
