We ate here a couple years ago and it was excellent! So when Rosie said "Let's go to La Mesa" ,,,, The ceviche looked tempting, as did the tar tar tuna and bangin shrimp. But another appetizer was the trio with all three. So I ordered it and Rose got chips and guacamole. The apps came I thought the tray was also for another table because there was a lot of food on the tray. But I was wrong. The "trio" was huge. Usually you get 1/3 portion of each. Not so. Each portion was very generous. And delicious!!! Really delicious! I almost regretted getting an entree. But the Filet Tacos were great. I returned to La Mesa because a friend suggested it for dinner who'd been craving Mexican food, so I decided to give them another try. I am really glad I did because I had an awesome time. I had the same exact server who remembered everything we ordered flawlessly. I had the birria quesadilla with some of the tastiest consommé broth I've had. The birria meat was incredibly tender, and they also added sautéed peppers so that the quesadilla wasn't overly rich. It was fantastic and I highly recommend it! My dining companions had the steak tacos which were good and chicken mole enchiladas which had a really smoky flavor if you like that. Their beans are blended so it was a nice topping to balance out the smokiness of the enchiladas. We also had their street corn which was really tasty the first time I came, but this most recent time we had smaller corn kernels so the toppings were a little overwhelming. However, it was still good and not their fault this batch of corn wasn't as great. This restaurant has a great ambiance. It's family friendly, but also a place you can go with your friends to enjoy yummy food, tasty margaritas while listening to all your favorite Bad Bunny songs. I had an extremely disappointing and discriminatory experience at LaMesa Galloway. As a person with a disability, I rely on my service dog for assistance, and when I arrived at the restaurant, I was told by a staff member that my service dog was not allowed inside. The staff member, who identified himself as the owner/manager, approached me and asked for documentation regarding my dog. I explained that my 5 years old fully trained dog by a Stockton veterans is registered as a service dog with the Galloway Township, and that there is not documentation to show besides the dogs behavior and my word and a public health educator that advocates for the people with invisible disabilities, but he insisted that my statement was untrue. Both the owner/manager and a female bartender admitted they didn't know the ADA law and mentioned that they had "problems with dogs" in the past. However, I fail to understand how this should affect my legal right to have my service dog with me. When I explained that my service dog is protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the owner/manager falsely accused me of using "violent language" and asked me to leave, despite my remaining calm and respectful throughout the interaction. In response, I requested that they call the police, as their false accusations could potentially defame me in front of other customers. This kind of gaslighting and retaliation against a person with a disability is not only unjust but also dangerous and unacceptable. Thankfully, I recorded the entire interaction to protect myself. To make matters worse, after making a phone call, the owner/manager instructed me that I had to be seated at a high-top near the bar. I was with my 13-year-old daughter, and this seating arrangement was not only uncomfortable but also dismissive of our needs as customers. It is deeply troubling that a business, especially one led by the owner/manager, would be so unaware of the rights of individuals with disabilities. The ADA law clearly protects the right to be accompanied by service animals in all public spaces, including restaurants. The owner/manager's behavior, combined with the bartender's lack of knowledge about the law, was not only disrespectful but also illegal. I will not be returning to LaMesa Galloway and strongly advise others with service animals to be cautious when visiting. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes immediate steps to educate their staff on the rights of individuals with disabilities to prevent anyone else from facing this kind of mistreatment. read more

The tequila old fashioned was the best drink I've ever had. However, our starters came out AFTER our entrees and our server had no idea that we never got our starters until it was brought up. I didn't see the service charge on the check. I added a tip. The server got $56.40 tip on a $140.00 bill. Ridiculous! I called the restaurant when I got home and the manager was no help. He said he had to contact his accountant. I put a stop on my credit card but it went through anyway. Dishonest people. Why charge a service charge for 4 adults and 1 child? We went early on a Friday night, and had a reservation however my elderly parents decided they wanted to do Happy Hour in the bar area. The staff was super accommodating of our desire to adjust. Been to La Mesa twice since it has opened and both times have been very positive. Food is okay to good here.. the empanadas are very good! Nothing really made me say wow.. but not horrible. Drinks are probably the best thing here, they have some very unique drinks. Definitely recommend the La Mesa Spritz. Service is probably the other good thing about this place, both time I had Jonathan as my server and her was amazing! He takes time to talk to you and tell you what he recommends. He's also dead honest if something isn't good and as a customer, you really appreciate honesty. Definitely a loud and party like atmosphere, which can make it hard to hear your server at times. Everyone loved their meals. The variety of tacos and burritos and enchiladas and other entrees was great. Loved the Surf and Turf tacos, and the bang bang shrimp tacos. Best Mexican food in Atlantic County for sure! Went to La Mesa for the first time tonight. I'd been wanting Mexican food for a while, but the other options in the area are not for me. (Tacos el Tio too loud and overpriced for the quality, El Coyote too small and no liquor license). So we decided to check out La Mesa and enjoy the entertainment, the lovely Patty Blee. We started with the Queso Fundido which came with regular chips and a fluffy corn tortilla. Great flavor with some cilantro which I love. I had the Barbacoa as my main, very large portion of tender beef served with very-above-average rice and "corn Mira," which was corn cooked in the braising liquid. YUM! My husband had 3 carne asada tacos stuffed with beef, peppers and onions, and sprinkled with cheese. Also delicious, with rice and delicious black beans. The music was so nice we ordered Churros for dessert. Served with chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, and ice cream! We highly recommend La Mesa and will return very soon! read more

Tonight, we had a table of 9 reserved for dinner at the restaurant. We arrived on time to find the table ready for us as planned and the friendly staff ready to accommodate our group. We were waited on by Kendra who was kind, patient, and professional. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and ready to answer any questions about items that were were considering for dinner. Now on to the food. We ordered two orders of guacamole and chips for either side of the table. The guacamole was obviously fresh, appearing as though it was just made to order. The flavors were excellent and we were off to a great start. Next came the entrees. I would HIGHLY recommend the Enchiladas suisa which is not a regular menu item but is often on special. It's enchiladas with chicken, fresh crema, and avocado with a huge portion to boot. My wife had the Al pastor tacos which were fork tender with a hint of pineapple for sweetness. Our group very much enjoyed the various and a-sundry meals which all had generous portions. Finally, since this was a birthday party, we all had dessert. The tres leches bread pudding was very rich and flavorful. The flourless chocolate cake was well-paired with delicious vanilla ice cream. The flan was also enjoyed by several in our party. Overall, the party was a wild success with all of us agreeing to consider this restaurant for future events. In addition, when dining out, it is always noteworthy to state when a restaurant has great food but is also clean and hygienic (as one would hope and expect), but this was top shelf. I would recommend La Mesa to anyone who would enjoys fresh Mexican food from friendly and knowledgeable staff. I don't like complaining about a local restaurant but this place is a total disappointment. Food and service were mediocre. My steak fajitas were not good, steak flavorless and not a good cut of meat. It reminded of beef you get from Chinese takeout. The pepper and onions were soggy and soaked in grease. I had reservations when the server didn't ask how I wanted the steak cooked. My wife ordered a beef burrito that was almost entirely rice, no beans and very little beef. Some of the other food was lukewarm at best. I had a beer spilled on me while our food was being served and the food runners continued bringing the food and trying to put it down on the spill. I had to clean up the spill myself. This place is extremely expensive for the quality of the food and drinks. Beware we were party of 8 and a 20% service charge was added, but we weren't told that, only saw it in the bill. Also, the music was played at a way too loud volume.
