Don't know why it took us so long to go to Mariachi's since we live in Absecon, but we finally got there last night. Great little place in the old Hutch's (or Heinzers) Corner Store, next to the old Finkbinders TV for all you old people that went to the NJ Avenue School back in the day. I mean way back, when there where no electric typewriters. Anyway, it's a BYOB place with very good food. I had a dinner that was on the top of the third page of the menu, called the Grand Fiesta Combo which include Rice, Beans, Taco, Tostada, Chicken Sope, and an Enchilada. Too much for me to eat. Wife got Burrito with the Rice and beans. Would bring my own Salsa next time because theirs was a little tame for me, however nice dinner and close to home. The answer to your question about the DOG if you had bothered to ask is a service animal! And we have her registration papers with us all the time. As you may not understand, you are required under the Americans With Disabilities Act to permit her to accompany us. And for anyone reading this, it is a 12 pound dog that was in its carrier the entire time.. the reference to our behavior is unfortunately an outright lie no one threw anything the young waiter that was waiting on us, knocked into the table and knocked over an empty soda bottle. The restaurant was on the recommended places from our resort. We normally don't eat our much in vacation but wanted something different. I looked at the menu online, saw lunch specials reasonable priced. We planned our day out for a later meal. We arrived and received menus. I didn't see any lunch specials so when I inquired the server told us they don't have them anymore. We proceeded to order and received a less than a half full basket of chips with salsa. When my husband asked for more we were told there's a charge but "she would fill it more " $3.99 Our meal was tasty, hot, flavorful. We enjoyed our food but the price tag not so much. Great little place about 6 miles outside of AC. If you don't want to fight to find a parking spot or don't want to walk a mile into the casinos in AC for a Mexican meal this is a great alternative. Food was fresh and flavorful. Good portions and reasonable prices. My only complaint is my Chicken Tortilla Soup had noodles in it which was weird and kind of through off the traditional taste I was hoping for. read more

Out of nowhere Mariacchi's appeared. Ok, it actually came out of a former Indian restaurant that moved but we were looking for something new ... something on the cheap and a place where the food would tingle our taste buds after Harry Potter's magic did it for us on the screen. There were four of us so the possibilities expanded ... mid-afternoon on a Saturday ... us and the wait staff and whoever was cooking in the back. We were warmly greeted like family to this small and simple dining room (definitely a jeans and t-shirt calm rather than the pressure of suits and tails) with sparse decorative touches. Would have definitely preferred hearing a little Mexican music in the background rather than Atlantic City's #1 Adult Contemporary station ... we had come for culture not the mad rush of the world around us. The mandatory chips were plentiful and homemade with two salsa choices that were swallowed up by the four of us ... not a crumb was left in the basket but we wisely deferred a refill because the meals were delciously filling! The menu was quite extensive and had some non-Mexican options but each menu item sounded perfect ... in fact so perfect that we had the waitress bewildered as she kept returning asking if we were ready. But her smile never stopped .. the home feeling was there and I smiled as I saw the prices were less than any of the neighboring Mexican restaurants. We decided on a Mole chicken, enchildadas, and sopes ranchero's. Each main course looked great as it was being served and our waitress was kind enough to offer a side dish of onions and hot peppers for my heat seeking taste buds. The food was perfectly prepared ... we stopped talking and just kept eating. Pleasantly stuffed was our conclusion to a meal that for the four of us totaled less than $60 before tip. This is a BYOB establishment and you have to take an interesting path to a very clean restroom. So, if you like Mexican ... if you like a friendly atmospher ... if you like inexpensive and enjoy not having huge bar bills ... then give this place a look and then a second look too. Ok so I'm not saying that the place is much to look at, because it isn't... it's nondescript at best. Who cares. The food. Is. Awesome. Seriously. Super authentic, startlingly large portions, full of flavor. Tons of options. Be sure to keep an eye on the wall for specials (like the posole!) Standouts so far (and I've been there a bunch lately) are the el pastor burritos, the Chile relleno, and pretty much anything in their salsa verde. This is a hidden gem right in our area. Delicious option for a late breakfast, as an alternative to diner food. The core of Mariachi's menu is great for lunch and dinner options. My personal favorite is their fajitas, but you cannot go wrong with anywhere here. The service is top notch and the decor is festive. I have to say, my Mariachi's experience differed dramatically from Lucas T.'s, with whose opinions I typically end up concurring. Mariachi's is not the best Mexican in South Jersey (you need to go to Hammonton for that), but it is definitely the best between Atlantic City and Hammonton. I've been bugging boyfriend to take me here for months, but of course he'd been dragging his feet: "It's too ethnic" (whatever that even means), "I don't want anything heavy" (says the man who ate a hot dog, cheeseburger, mac & cheese, beans, corn, and salad last night), blah blah blah. I finally nagged so much, he wore down and took me here on a Saturday night. The place was empty save another couple, which I like. Too many palefaces equals non-authentic food! We ordered chicken nachos to start. I chose chile rellenos for my main, and boyfriend had (shocking!) chicken tacos. I was also in dire need of guacamole. The tortillas and salsa served beforehand were yummy and fresh, but nothing in comparison to the rest of the meal. The nachos were out of control: flavorful and amply topped. Read: no naked chips! It was a crazy big portion that we couldn't even dent. My chile was huge as well and stuffed with unbelievably delicious cheese and beans, topped with more heavenly cheese in an incredibly decadent and tasty sauce. The cilantro inside and on top was bracingly fresh and really just stupid good. I didn't try boyfriend's chicken tacos, but he said they were excellent. They were appropriately garnished with onion and cilantro, but also provided tomato and lettuce on the side. Rice and beans were complementary and tasty as well, but again, the main proteins were the stars of the show. Guacamole was not the best I've had, but still delicious. We got a metric ton of food and two days of leftovers for around $40. I'd say that's a pretty good deal! Service was a little slow, which is par for the course in a Mexican joint, but definitely didn't detract from the enjoyable exprience. Our waitress was very sweet and helpful and didn't appear to mind our repeated requests for boxes. We will definitely come back next time the craving for Mexican hits! read more

Stopped by with my wife today for brunch. I'm glad we did because we were pleasantly surprised. Tucked away in a small storefront that looks more like a house than a restaurant is a true diamond in the rough. I am always looking for authentic Mexican food and this place does not disappoint. Upon entry you are warmly greeted. The interior is extremely clean and clutter free with decorative sombreros hanging on the wall. We were served by Araceli, who was attentive to all our needs. I had the steak Mexicano and my wife had the fried tilapia. My dish was spicy and flavorful with just the right amount of seasoning. The tilapia was cooked to perfection. My wife commented that the food tasted like you just walked into a persons house and it was cooked fresh at that moment. I also drank a glass of Horchata, which is a traditional Mexican drink, cool and satisfying to neutralize the spicy flavors of my dish. I'm hoping that this restaurant remains a secret so it doesn't become overcrowded and lose it's quaint appeal, but just like any great restaurant word of mouth is a powerful force. We will definitely be returning with our friends and family. Repeat visit 6/29/18, as always fresh food and great service. This will always be our go to place for fresh Mexican food. read more

Was looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant for a family dinner, no chain-style. Found Mariachi's in Yelp, and thought we'd give it a try. This restaurant is small. In fact, when we first pulled up to the building, we were unsure if we wanted to go in. I am so glad that we did. The food was excellent. Spicy for those who like spice (me), but options for those who do not (the kids). I highly recommend the chicken nachos or the shrimp fajitas. Today was our 4th visit to Mariachi's Mexican Restaurant. We first ate here about 2 months ago and it's proven to be just as good each time we return. Consistent warm family friendly service and made to order fresh food. I've tried a few different dishes and all were prepared very well including the chicken enchiladas (red), Sopes & Chicken Mole. The decor is kinda lame but it has a charm to it I suppose. What it lacks in ambiance it makes up in cleanliness. The place is very clean including the dining area and the unisex restroom that looks to be the only one in the building but it is exceptionally clean. The prices, quality, portions and service are above that of other area Mexican restaurants that will rename nameless but we've tried them all. The only downside when comparing is the lack of bar but you can BYOB and we have done just that on one of our visits. Give this little place a try. It's location is a notorious deathtrap for small restaurants. Nothing really has survived there for the longterm and the turnover there has been steady over the years. Perhaps this little Mexican joint can break the cycle of shattered dreams. We shall see.....in the meantime, enjoy. read more

I used their menu from Yelp to order. When I arrived to pick up order, the bill was about 40% more than I thought it would be. An example is that the shrimp camarones burrito was double the price $18.99, not $9.50. I was told that the new owners raised prices. Understandable to raise prices, but by 100%??? The burrito was ok, nothing wonderful, but the rice seemed like Minute Rice and the beans like Campbells baked beans. The Salsa was very watery. I got better Mexican food recently for lunch at Wawa for much cheaper price. I remember being pleased several years ago with my meals under prior ownership. With this meal I was very disappointed! This place is immaculate! The waitress was amazing! So sweet and on the ball with everything we needed. The only reason I did 4 stars is because it was as authentic as I'd hoped for. The fajita Pastor had pieces of pineapple, which were delicious, but threw the flavor off. The beef in the Beef Chile Relleno tasted a little freezer burned. The sopa and burrito were delicious!
