Great food! We went when there weren't many customers and service was a little slow but so worth the wait! The servings were huge and any accommodations we asked for (making things vegetarian) they happily complied with. We'll be back!

This place was absolutely delicious. A classic Hispanic restaurant with fresh ingredients and good flavor. Can't really go wrong with a place like this, there's always quality food that leaves you feeling full/satisfied. Had myself chicken and shrimp fajitas, which is my usual go to ... so I was hoping it would it the spot. Super hot and still sizzling when it reached the table with great service and hospitality. I'll be back again if I'm in the area. The only reason I dropped them a star is because I kept burning myself on my fajita plate because there was no handle cover to be able to move it around once it hit the table.

Get some! You won't regret it. Delivered Tasty. Fresh. Hot. Not overcooked. Hits the spot.

As a transplant from San Diego to the North East, my life seriously lacks good Mexican food. Once again, Yelp lead me to a local gem. This place is clean, large seating area and spotless bathrooms. The menu is traditional Oaxaca food, it does NOT disappoint. The service was friendly, I'm guessing this is a family establishment. I picked Enfrijoladas and boy was my mouth happy! I love beans so this dish drew me in. Think small corn tacos stuffed with cheese, covered in black bean sauce with crema & queso fresco. Food is made to order so be prepared for the wait (worth every second btw). The fresh salsa was fantastic, I like it spicy and the roja was fantastica! I was the only gringa in the place, that's how you know it's authentic.

Being from Texas I was very hesitant to try Mexican food in New Jersey. My last experience with that was odd to say the least. I trusted my fellow Yelpers, and they did not disappoint. I had a combo dinner, way more food than I could eat. It had mole Enchiladas, a Sopa, thinly sliced beef, rice and black beans. The enchiladas were excellent, the sopa was my favorite, the beef was a touch over cooked but it had a good flavor. I had to try their signature dessert the Chocoflan. Not being a huge chocolate lover, I was concerned it would be too much. The chocolate cake at the bottom of the flan was perfect. Moist, mild chocolate flavor (Mexican, yes it is different), and not too sweet. This is a creation of the owners wife and she makes it fresh every day. This is very truly Mexican food, it is vegetable based, making it lighter than Tex-Mex.

Carnitas tacos. So yummy, tender and flavorful pork with perfect amount of fatty goodness.

Hidden Gem. This is a great byob Mexican restaurant with great prices, even in this crazy inflated economy we are in. I had the carnitas tacos and there were amazing. A friend of mine had a burrito which probably could have fed a family of 4. It came with a side of rice and beans. Even the chips and salsa were awesome. Be prepared for some spice in the salsa which I loved though. The staff are friendly and the food is amazing. Large dinning area for any size party. Go support this local authentic Mexican restaurant, great food and hard working staff. A new favorite of mine.

I read the reviews and decided to give this new place a shot. I'm so glad we did as the food is exactly as all the other reviews shared, 100% authentic! You really can't find Telayuda (Mexican pizzas) anywhere (& we aren't talking Taco Bell Mexican pizzas) and the carne asada one was GREAT! It was HUGE and enough to feed 3-4 people. We also had the grilled cactus which was PHENOMENAL! For our entrees we had the Diablo Shrimp and the Mexican Shrimp both of which were extremely flavorful and accompanied by rice and beans and tortillas. The place is a BYOB and a liquor store is right across the street so we ran in and got our Modelo 6-Pack to enjoy with the meal. The service was AMAZING and there's truly not anything had I can say.

My friend got the steak nachos...out of this world. Hands down best nachos I have ever had definitely recommend, I will be back for those nachos and to try the rest of the menu!

There were several Mexican restaurants to choose from and many had great Yelp reviews. After careful consideration .... Tacos El Tio was our pick and so glad it was! What a gem. And they have a full liquor license with tons of great drinks, especially if you're looking for a margarita! I opted for a nice Mandarin Jarritos soda -- i was just in the mood. They also have screens with sporting events on + an area with a full bar to hang. They have booths and areas for large tables too - so it's great for the whole family or a nice date night. My husband loved his steak fajitas and could not stop raving about them. He loved them! I ordered the chicken fajita enchilada..and it was ginormous - - you could make two meals out of it! Sorry I dont have more photos - - we were hungry! :) And I cannot forget our awesome server, Jose! He was a super nice server and loved that he was from Ecuador - - where we recently traveled! We will definitely be back. I just made your Mexican restaurant selection for Egg Harbor Township easy!

A fun time at Egg Harbor's second-best Mexican restaurant…read more If you look at Yelp, you'll see there's another Mexican restaurant that has a slightly better rating than Tacos El Tio. HOWEVER, that other place is BYOB, and if you want to have an alcoholic beverage, for example, a margarita, you'll need to bring your own tequila. Tacos El Tio is a full-service Mexican restaurant that offers well-crafted beverages alongside delicious food. Now, to the specifics... TET has lots of parking. The inside is large, clean, and offers plenty of comfortable seating. You might prefer a table or booth that's on the far side of the dining room, well away from the bar area with its speakers and any loud conversations. Our server, Julie, was attentive, efficient, and delightful. They offer a range of margaritas, from specialty concoctions to their margaritas-on-tap. The on-tap version is about half the cost of the concocted version and, in my opinion, a far better value. As for food, all we tried, all we had to try, was their Los Nachos El Tio. That was a plate, heaped high with corn tortillas, layered with nacho stuff, along with generous portions of beef, chicken, and chorizo. And, unlike the nachos offered by some places, the good stuff wasn't merely a topping; it was interspersed with chips from top to bottom. And it was enough that even though we started off hungry, and even though it was delicious, my wife and I couldn't finish it. The only thing we'll do at our next visit is leave out the chorizo; it was our least favorite of the three proteins. TLDR: Sit somewhere far from the bar, get the least expensive margaritas, order the nachos (maybe without the chorizo), and leave your tequila at home.

The price is amazing, quality is outstanding, extremely authentic and service was great. A very small restaurant with maybe 3-4 tables but everything is very tight and a bit hot. No AC but one fan. My bf and I stopped by and we were the only ones dining inside, but the door constantly opened with customers picking up food. Our waitress was the friendliest and cutest person ever. Very happy and loved her job. This restaurant does not come with complimentary chips and salsa and the food (besides entrees) do not come with sides. However, the taste and quality is out of this world and so worth it! We ordered shrimp tacos, which came with 3pieces and extremely fresh. We also shared an order of the original tlayuda and chose mixed meat since the waitress recommended it. Very heavy and filling. Can't wait to come back and try other items off the menu!

It had good reviews and Google suggested I might like it based on places I've been to here in Baltimore. So, you know I had to cross reference on Yelp, my most trusted source of recommendations. Yelp said, yes ma'am and I said say less. After some rooftop drinks at Vue bar, I stopped in for takeout. I only browsed the menu briefly, but I knew when I saw huaraches and tlayuda it was going be a hit! There's nothing like authentic Mexican. While I wanted to try a little bit of everything, I'm only one girl and I was traveling solo, so I ordered steak nachos, an al pastor torta, and a single lengua taco. The way I inhaled those nachos, the roof of my mouth be damned! They were so simple, just black refried beans, meat, queso fresco and some pickled veg, yet so delicious. The lengua taco had more of a shredded consistency than the tender chunks I'm used to, but the flavor was yummy and the torta was still great 3 days later. 10/10 would recommend!
