Chicharron

Great food although a little bit on the pricey side for takeout. Good serving sizes and great flavor. They have American food like chicken tenders and wings, Dominican dishes, Peruvian dishes, pizzas, and cheesesteaks. Great service every time. Located on a main road in the city.

Was in AC for Labor Day weekend and was in the mood for some authentic Spanish food. Am I glad I found this place, don't let the name foul you, this place has everything your heart desire's, steps from Tropicana Casino. The empanadas are the bomb and full of meat and cheese...the best combo they are even being nominated for the best empanadas in AC! We all had different dishes and every single item was on point. The service was great! Very friendly and accommodating staff you see that it is family run and they want to make sure their customers are happy.

Chicharon and empanadas (beef or chicken for a dollar each). The chicharon price is based on weight.

Great food for lunch. The rice and beans has a lot more flavor than the Mexican place next door on the corner of the block. This place looks like a shit hole from the outside but the flavors of their Dominican section of the menu will not disappoint. Have also seen a group of 14 cops all come in here for their lunch break. So it's obviously got its followings. I've gotten the chicharon with rice, beans and plantains. It was around $10 which I ended up sharing it with 2 other coworker (both guys are over 6' tall) and we were all very full. There are 2 different sauces u can choose from for the empanadas. I've had both the mayo/ketchup sauce and the green hot chili sauce. I prefer the green hot chili sauce to help cut through the deep fried empanads. I usually buy 2 empanadas for $2 total. You can also buy pizza here per slice for $2 each but just a heads up, the slices are huge. It's equivalent to 2 slices of pizza that other places would offer. Hope u enjoy.

Chicken empanada & beef potato ball with salsa verde.

Awesome assorted Latin cuisine here. Stick to the Latin dishes and avoid the American fare such as pizza and cheesesteaks. The beef or chicken empanadas and stuffed deep fried potato balls (stuffed with seasoned beef and cheese) are great appetizers or meals themselves. The accompanying salsa verde which varies in intensity daily is always great with them if you like heat. The fried pork chops platter can easily feed two and is outstanding. Enjoy!

I can't speak for the pizza or the Italian food. I decided to order off of the Hispanic side of the menu. It was a 1/2 chicken with rice and beans. it had absolutely no flavor to it. the chicken taste like it was cooked previously, frozen and then reheated. I told the girl who answered the phone I wanted my money back she said "well no one else ever complained about it" i told her well i did! She then said maybe I wasn't use to their chicken! Whenever I've had hispanic food, it's always flavored well and is good. Not this place! Will never order from this place again!

Good food. Shows poorly. My first thought was, do I want to eat from here? The recommendation was so strong I tried it. Glad I did.

It's decorated like it would be in Cuba(I think? I've never been). The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. The mixed grill was good and just enough for two people. The banana split is awesome as it's served in a huge martini glass. I'll definitely be back.

Plentiful bar seating and lots of hours and days offered, unlike some other venues. Pleasant bartender took great care of us, and there were regulars at the bar which is always encouraging. The happy hour menu includes several $8 cocktails so I ordered a red sangria and hubby tried the mojito. When in Cuba, have a rum drink for sure! Both were excellent and good value. I had to try the crab guacamole, even though it's just crabmeat on guac. Good stuff. All mine because hubby doesn't eat avocados, too bad! The surprise was the plantain chips that came with this dish, they were huge, and such crunchy deliciousness! We also got the dragon street meatballs, which he got to enjoy by himself (because they are beef and pork meatballs and I can't consume pork). This was a big portion for $8. The sauce was sweet and salty. A good dish! We weren't super hungry so we didn't try other apps but this is a solid HH!

Another tale of two experiences between the Misses and I. *I* particularly like Cafe Nitido; the…read morewife said she will wouldn't go back. *shoulder shrug emoji*. Let's discuss.... First, the place is very nice on the inside; spacious, clean, relatively quiet. The servers were nice, (a little awkward, but nice...), and the food was delicious. I decided to go with the chicharrones mofongo, and the Misses got the salmon. We got a side of fried plantains to split. I was a little worried watching other peoples mofongos coming out, because although beautifully plated, the helping looked small. But, it was more than enough food. The plantains were more than a little over, (aka burnt,) but they tasted ok nevertheless. The Misses enjoyed her salmon, but was QUITE upset that the meal came with white rice instead of yellow. She says that she specifically asked for yellow, but I can't remember, AND, as is the custom now a days, the waitress didn't write the order down, instead trying to remember everything. Hate that practice, I really do. The MEALS were reasonably priced, but the sides and drinks were astronomical. The side of plaintains was TEN dollars. I ordered a coffee at the end of the meal, (that took FOR.EVER. to come out by the way,) and it was like an espresso sized cup of coffee that costed almost $5. The iced teas, over $4. They make up the difference of the meals on the other shit. Our bill for the mofongo, the salmon, an iced tea, a side of plantains, and the worlds slowest, smallest coffee was JUST under $100. It was good, but it wasn't THAT good. As I mentioned, the server was awkward, and would come by the table and then just stand there, or walk away and then walk IMMEDIATELY back, so it was just a little weird. YMMV. Again, even with all that, I would absolutely go back here. They have a LOT of mofongo options, and I'd love to try another protein.
