    Chorizo taco bowl

The food was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was lovely. We will definitely be going back again. We had chorizo taco bowl and chicken enchiladas with mole. Sadly, no room for dessert. But that's a good thing.

Had to try this new place close to home. Chips/refried beans were spot on. I tried 2 beef and 2 pork tacos. Excellent! Warning on the red hot sauce. It's hot. We'll be back for sure and will make this our weekly go-to Mexican place!

There were several Mexican restaurants to choose from and many had great Yelp reviews. After careful consideration .... Tacos El Tio was our pick and so glad it was! What a gem. And they have a full liquor license with tons of great drinks, especially if you're looking for a margarita! I opted for a nice Mandarin Jarritos soda -- i was just in the mood. They also have screens with sporting events on + an area with a full bar to hang. They have booths and areas for large tables too - so it's great for the whole family or a nice date night. My husband loved his steak fajitas and could not stop raving about them. He loved them! I ordered the chicken fajita enchilada..and it was ginormous - - you could make two meals out of it! Sorry I dont have more photos - - we were hungry! :) And I cannot forget our awesome server, Jose! He was a super nice server and loved that he was from Ecuador - - where we recently traveled! We will definitely be back. I just made your Mexican restaurant selection for Egg Harbor Township easy!

A fun time at Egg Harbor's second-best Mexican restaurant…read more If you look at Yelp, you'll see there's another Mexican restaurant that has a slightly better rating than Tacos El Tio. HOWEVER, that other place is BYOB, and if you want to have an alcoholic beverage, for example, a margarita, you'll need to bring your own tequila. Tacos El Tio is a full-service Mexican restaurant that offers well-crafted beverages alongside delicious food. Now, to the specifics... TET has lots of parking. The inside is large, clean, and offers plenty of comfortable seating. You might prefer a table or booth that's on the far side of the dining room, well away from the bar area with its speakers and any loud conversations. Our server, Julie, was attentive, efficient, and delightful. They offer a range of margaritas, from specialty concoctions to their margaritas-on-tap. The on-tap version is about half the cost of the concocted version and, in my opinion, a far better value. As for food, all we tried, all we had to try, was their Los Nachos El Tio. That was a plate, heaped high with corn tortillas, layered with nacho stuff, along with generous portions of beef, chicken, and chorizo. And, unlike the nachos offered by some places, the good stuff wasn't merely a topping; it was interspersed with chips from top to bottom. And it was enough that even though we started off hungry, and even though it was delicious, my wife and I couldn't finish it. The only thing we'll do at our next visit is leave out the chorizo; it was our least favorite of the three proteins. TLDR: Sit somewhere far from the bar, get the least expensive margaritas, order the nachos (maybe without the chorizo), and leave your tequila at home.

They were so happy to host us and made every step of the experience easy and enjoyable. They even offered our players 10% off their meals, which were absolutely delicious! The tacos are an incredible deal -- four for just $15-- full of flavor and perfectly portioned. The appetizers were reasonably priced and packed with taste, chips and salsa come to table when dinning in, and to top it off, the staff surprised us with a few sweet treats for the table as a thank-you gesture -- such a thoughtful touch that meant so much to our team. There's plenty of seating and space for groups, making it a great spot for family dinners, team outings, or celebrations. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely happy to have us there. It's always special to support small businesses that continue to support our local programs, and Mi Casa Tu Casa truly embodies community, generosity, and great service. In today's tough economic climate, it felt amazing to dine somewhere that not only serves amazing food but also values people, community and connection. We were seated in the lovely outdoor area, which had such a great atmosphere with Mexican music playing in the background. We started with the empanadas, and they were absolutely delicious. For our main dishes, we had the shrimp fajitas and steak tacos--both were flavorful, perfectly cooked, and truly hit the spot. The service was just as impressive as the food. Our server, Joely, was awesome--friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcomed, especially on such a busy holiday. Great food, great service, and a beautiful setting. We'll definitely be back!

The night we dined the restaurant was pretty busy, but there were no servers or hosts in sight. After a very brief wait, a server and host/server came out of the kitchen and sat us immediately. We started with horchata to drink, which arrived in mason jars with a dusting of cinnamon. The menu is very seafood heavy, so if you're not into fish or seafood, your options are limited. With that being said, the menu leans authentic Mexican. Every table receives fresh homemade nachos with a black bean topping and two salsas- one mild and one spicy. We decided to do the appetizer sampler so we could try a little of a variety of things. It came with an empanada, elote, nachos, guacamole, and queso fundido. The presentation was awesome, as it arrived on a wooden board. The empanada was cut into 4 pieces and was filled with chicken tinga and cheese. I absolutely loved it, while my friend hated it, which was crazy to me. It was so flavorful and had almost a carnitas flavor to it. The guac was fresh, the nachos were crispy and packed with toppings, elote was flavorful and fresh, and queso fundido was super filling. We almost filled up on the apps, but our birria tacos came out and they were fantastic. Our server poured the hot consommé over onions in a little bowl and the flavor was rich and paired with the birria so well. The corn tortillas were crispy and even though we could only eat one of the three, we took the rest home. We also split a side of Mexican rice and beans, which were average and pretty much what you'd expect. We aren't sure if there is dessert, as there was none on the menu, but we were too full even if we were offered options. Our server was attentive even though it was very busy. All in all, I would give it a 4 and my dining companion would give it a 3 so 3.5 would be perfect. However I went up to a 4 because I enjoyed what I ordered and think it deserves that half of a star.

cute neighbors spot with great mexican food!…read more my friend and i made a reservation for 8p on cinco de mayo -- we did not realize it was cinco de mayo until we were on our way over to the restaurant, and it was crazy packed. even with a reservation, we had to wait for a table. we were seated outside initially, despite our reservation for an inside table. we did request to move inside since it was cold and windy outside, and our waiter jose told us it would take 20 more minutes. we were at the restaurant for over an hour by the time we were finally seated inside. once inside, our orders were quickly taken, and the food came out quickly. at that point, we were starving -- coming here on cinco de mayo was a mistake. the food here is excellent. the tacos al pastor were some of the best tacos i've had. the pork was so juicy and flavorful. the drinks (horchata & jamaica) were also packed with flavor and tasted incredibly authentic. the elote was delicious as well, and i enjoyed how much pulpo/octopus was on the menu. there were so many other things i wanted to try! our waiter jose was also very sweet. he apologized for the delay in getting seated, and you could tell they were working really hard to get through the rush. i would not come back on cinco de mayo, but i would definitely recommend this spot for a casual dinner.

It's pretty deep in South Philly, definitely off the beaten path. For as much press as it's been getting recently, it wasn't too busy (it was a week night) in hte restaurant. There is a decent bit of seating without feeling crammed, and the ambience is on theme with the cuisine. They are BYOB, so I brought a mocktail for us to enjoy with our meals. Service was solid - our server gave us good advice on the menu. We started off with the guac, which was delightful. I particularly enjoyed the inclusion of charred serranos alongside the avos, and the homemade chips were the perfect vehicle for the dip. We split the spicy Camohtli, which wasn't too spicy and with perfectly crispy potatoes. The seasoning fit the dish nicely. I'm not an overall potato lover, but this was a unexpected tasty dish. We lastly split a special for the night, tacos with squash, corn, and pomegranate seeds. I was disappointed in the number of vegetarian tacos, but I was glad that this one was on special. I liked all the ingredients separately, and together on the taco, they went together well enough, but something was missing. Perhaps another spice or sauce? That would have taken this dish over the top! Prices at El Mictlan were quite reasonable, and the BYOB nature certainly helps a lot too. I was overall pleased with my meal there, but I would be intrigued to try other menu options (I am not vegetarian, so would like to try other taco offerings) to understand all the recent hype!
