Visited this restaurant with a large party, and service was on point. Our waitress was super sweet. The ambiance in this place is super cute and vibrant. Pictured is the steak burrito bowl I got, which was pretty tasty. But, the star of the show was the nachos, which I forgot to take a photo of. Definitely would recommend their nachos- 10/10!

Heard good things about this restaurant but when I went to go eat my tacos I realized the meat was burnt. Luckily I ordered rice along side it which saved the day, but the tacos were a miss.

Wow! We came here on a whim and they aren't kidding when they say the restaurant serves authentic Mexican food. Everything was incredible! The mole sauce is some of the best I've ever had. The servers are kind, and the decor is bright and pretty. The music set the mood. We felt like we were in Mexico on a beautiful evening.

This is a good Mexican place. The workers were nice inside and they got all items of the order correct. It was fairly expensive, but the food was good. The corn shells actually held up and didn't break which was nice. You can tell they probably make most of the food in store which is nice. The refried beans and Mexican rice were okay but didn't leave me feeling to great... the burritos were good but not close to as good as Don Jose on the Ocean City island. The chips also were very bland and did not seem to have much flavor. Overall, it was good but a bit expensive for what you get.

Al Fresco dining is often associated with classic restaurants around the world. While I have never understood why breathing in the fumes of passing automobiles while pedestrians stare at your food is considered a wonderful meal I want to point out that the incredible patio at El Tipico creates a perfect Al Fresco setting to enjoy their Mexican fare. Now, if you were wondering where the term "al fresco" came from all you have to do is turn to the Italians. It comes from the phrase "in the cool (air). Well, that "in the cool air" costs El Tipico a solid star because every time we have eaten in this special Mexican restaurant in non-summer months the interior has been "COOL." Now, I am originally from Buffalo NY and enjoy fall and winter weather but I could swear that the indoor temperature for today's lunch matched the 45 degrees outside. I don't like eating breathing in fumes but if I am eating indoors I don't want my hands to feel like ice. This wasn't the first time we have discovered a very cool/cold interior and perhaps the heating system doesn't work but the meals here certainly do! So, if you remember to wear your parka's for lunch or dinner you are in for a wonderful meal at El Tipico! First thing first SUPER SUPER SOPA!!!! I am a soup seeker and frankly if I could have El Tipico's Sopa de Frijoles every day I would be one happy boy. Now, I am talking about the flavors but will admit the hot large cup of soup is also needed to warm the body for the rest of the meal. The creator of this simple Mexican soup has blended the textures and flavors to create something very special. The service is outstanding although on reflection the wait staff may have been attired in warm sweats ... but their warm personalities and caring service always has been outstanding! The homemade salsa's and hot sauce are a nice step up from the jarred brands that all too frequently get put out on the tables. They start you with a relatively small basket of chips and salsa but it was refilled on request. The lunch specials are simple classic dishes with the choice of two mini-entrees along with black beans that still resemble black beans and rice. My daughter has dietary issues and the kitchen is always ready to meet her needs with a smile! So amidst the cold there has never been a meal that disappointed ... really love their Tacos al Pastor! So remember ... bundle up! Order the Sopa de Frijoles and get ready to enjoy a delicious meal. And, if you come to eat in the summer months go to the patio to enjoy a real al fresco meal rather than the indoor artificial one.

Don't let the name fool you. El Tipico is anything but typical. Very clean, bright, interior dining area, and an equally inviting outdoor dining area. The eerde and rojo salsa served with crisp chips prior to meal are full of distinct flavors, not too spicy. I ordered the lunch special choice of two items accomplished by rice and beans. Now, I happen to enjoy rice and beans and don't consider them a garnish or plate filler like many people. I judge a Mexican restaurant on the flavor or their rice and beans as much as I do their salsa and chips, and entrees. El Tipico's measure up to my standards! Both were done to perfection, complimented each other and the meal well with their flavors. I had a flauta and sope. Both were garnished nicely with lettuce, tomato, avacado, sour cream, and queso fresco. Both items were freshly made. The flauta was hot and filled with seasoned chicken. The sope was topped with beans, chicken, and same garnish as the flauta. This weekend is their 1anniversary! I hope they stay around to celebrate many more!

Awesome food, fresh and large portions. Great BYOB place, authentic Mexican cuisine. Shrimp tacos were amazing, service was great and prices are fair. The steak was also amazing, flavorful and perfectly cooked

I will say this is one of the first places that I think actually took into account the reviews (good and bad) and actually improved upon them. This place used to be Clancy's and is now somewhat of a Mexican fusion restaurant with awesome drinks and amazing food. When I went last year, there were so many things that were missing the mark- the music (they were playing 96.9 lite rock), the food (barely edible) and drinks (too much sour mix). I went here the past two weekends and was legit blown away with the improvements. So amazingly good. We spoke with some of the employees who told us that they got a new chef - he was definitely 100% worth the money. It used to be that Sofias was the only place you could get a fresh grilled Branzino. This blew Sofias out of the park. Amazing drinks, amazing service, awesome food, great music... 10/10! Loved it. **It's def a darker atmosphere so make sure you watch where you step. Has a really cute outdoor area too which I'm sure will be great in the summer.

There was a difficult language barrier while speaking on the phone as it was strictly spanish. Not only that, but staff seems to be very negligent and distracted while on duty having their backs turned seemingly doing nothing as it was not busy. I could not understand/hear what they were saying behind the counter, they need to speak up. They were very unfriendly and raised their voice at me. Pt2/update; I was debating whether or not to post the last review as i have gone to Rojos for a long time standing and as far as i knew them it had been a respectable and very friendly business. I've had a little bit of everything on their menu and today i settled for a Quesadilla Al Pastor as it has always been one of my favorites or had been. For starters the meat was very smell and oily and i thought it was Choriza, not pork. Not only did it lack the correct meat it also lacked pineapple i could not find many pineapple pieces and it looked like onions. I called back to try and make sense of the confusion and the lady was very hostile and aggressive she raised her voice at me and did not offer any type of solution or apology for the whatever mistake had happened, she assured me it was pastor although it was appeared NOT to be. I understand it is the end of the day and the only other reason i could see the meat could be this minute and mutilated was if only it had been the leftovers from the day. Again, i understand the day is coming to an end but if the staff or cooks see that the chosen food is running low, id rather them be transparent about it than give me garbage leftovers from the bottom of the bin. At the very end of the day it brings me a lot of shame to have to post this about what i once believed to be a hidden gem in OC i hope they hire friendlier and more competent staff, the customer is ALMOST always right.
