Mahi mahi tacos

We come here with our kids after going to story book land and we always get great food and great service

One of their specialty margaritas... I recommend the on tap version instead.

A fun time at Egg Harbor's second-best Mexican restaurant. If you look at Yelp, you'll see there's another Mexican restaurant that has a slightly better rating than Tacos El Tio. HOWEVER, that other place is BYOB, and if you want to have an alcoholic beverage, for example, a margarita, you'll need to bring your own tequila. Tacos El Tio is a full-service Mexican restaurant that offers well-crafted beverages alongside delicious food. Now, to the specifics... TET has lots of parking. The inside is large, clean, and offers plenty of comfortable seating. You might prefer a table or booth that's on the far side of the dining room, well away from the bar area with its speakers and any loud conversations. Our server, Julie, was attentive, efficient, and delightful. They offer a range of margaritas, from specialty concoctions to their margaritas-on-tap. The on-tap version is about half the cost of the concocted version and, in my opinion, a far better value. As for food, all we tried, all we had to try, was their Los Nachos El Tio. That was a plate, heaped high with corn tortillas, layered with nacho stuff, along with generous portions of beef, chicken, and chorizo. And, unlike the nachos offered by some places, the good stuff wasn't merely a topping; it was interspersed with chips from top to bottom. And it was enough that even though we started off hungry, and even though it was delicious, my wife and I couldn't finish it. The only thing we'll do at our next visit is leave out the chorizo; it was our least favorite of the three proteins. TLDR: Sit somewhere far from the bar, get the least expensive margaritas, order the nachos (maybe without the chorizo), and leave your tequila at home.

Cheers

We tried out this taco restaurant located across the street from a kids' amusement park called story book. The restaurant was pretty big and served a variety of Mexican food to its patrons. The highlight of my visit was the service. Our waitress Remaya was friendly, attentive, and offered great suggestions along with excellent customer service. We ordered a mix of items, including guacamole, three tacos, a steak fajita, and drinks. Our dinner was pretty good overall, but the best parts of the meal were the mahi-mahi fish tacos and the steak fajita, they were both delicious. The place had nice décor, good vibes, and friendly people. The restaurant was full and had great energy. I would consider trying it again when I am in this part of New Jersey. Convenient parking lot. Outdoor / Indoor seating available.

My boyfriend & I come here almost every other week, my favorite authentic Mexican restaurant, the food hits every single time. The staff is amazing and the food/presentation/flavor is delish every single time. Highly recommend

Steak Fajitas

My friend introduced me to this place and I wish I would have gone earlier before we moved from Jersey! The steak fajitas were sizzlin good. The meat was juicy and flavorful. The fajita veggies were cooked just right. The sides of Mexican rice and beans paired well with it. The margaritas are good and they have a variety of flavors to choose from. You can do traditional tap poured margaritas or homemade margaritas . Both are delicious!

Hadn't been here in a while but me and the wife snuck in for dinner tonight. What an absolute treat. The corn chowder soup to start was absolutely delicious. We actually got one to go as well. For diner I had the backend tuna. AMAZING. This was one of those meals that will stay in my head for a long time. Cooked perfectly, great presentation, so very flavorful. It was truly worth the trip for this meal. Staff was friendly and service was excellent. Definitely a good meal.

We came on a weekday and it was packed after work. The food was really good and came out quickly. They didn't have any happy hour or drink specials. The kids meal didn't come with any sides or drinks which was disappointing for the price.

Food is great. FYI - enchiladas could use a little more salsa on top if that's how you like them. Good drinks too.

We get there around 6p on a Saturday night, and it's empty. We were slightly worried, but more and more people and families showed up during our meal. And we also noticed a lot of take out orders. Me and my friend split a mixed nachos. Nachos are always big. But these were large, and so flavorful. Abundant amounts of beef, chicken, avocado, and cheese cover the mounds of fresh chips. And the toppings are nicely mixed throughout the nachos, and not just on top like many places. Beware - this can easily fill up 2 people for dinner alone. We left about half uneaten. My friend ordered enchiladas verdes o de mole - with green sauce. He noted it was spicy! Everything was fresh and looked great. I ordered the Tampiquena Oaxaca Style - which includes 2 mole enchiladas, a plain sope, and a big huge piece of carne asada (or you can choose grilled chicken). The beef was slightly overcooked, but was still flavorful. This was a lot of food. The enchiladas were very flavorful. All ingredients are fresh. We were happy to have found this place. No regrets visiting this place!
