Make a reservation if you are coming on a weekend. We were lucky enough that there was bar seating when we arrived (walk ins), and we eat dinner early , yup at that stage of our lives Sangria red: perfectly sweet and great with our meal Highlights: Tocino: that pork belly was so incredibly delicious and melted in my mouth Pulpo: the best octopus I have ever had The rest of the meal also tasty, but had to highlight those The torta was delish but a little too sweet, the dusting of powdered sugar while pretty was not needed imo. The olive oil is a nice touch. All in all a great date night with friendly service. Would come again! Before tax tip: $167

    A great Pulpo combo!

A lovely option for weekend brunch without the crazy lines! They take brunch reservations. Tasty food, friendly service & chill environment gives 5 stars. They've recently expanded the brunch menu so that there's lots of yummy options. Mushroom croquetas were delish and not too cheesy. Brussels and pulpo were delicious! The crab scramble was good, but the fried potatoes were too oily for us to eat. Beware there's lots of cheese & fried in everything. I'll be back to try the benedicts & sweet dishes!

Amazing! That pretty much sums it up. My coworker and I went here to celebrate the successful end to the work week. We sat at the bar and were taken care of by the super sexy Juan. He was great; attentive, knowledgeable, and funny. The list of tapas that we had is rather long and I had to slip out with a menu so I could remember them all! Here we go; two red sangrias, croquetas de cangrejo (Dungeness crab), bruselas (Brussel sprouts), albondigas (iberico & beef with tomato cream), croquetas de pollo (piri piri spicey chicken), vierias (day boat scallops), tocino (pork belly), and to wrap it all up, a Cabernet Sauvignon sorbet and a blood orange sorbet. The place was hopping. A table would stay empty for meer moments before someone else was seated so be sure to make a reservation.

Made reservations thru open table on a Wednesday night. Our party of 4 got seated at the first table by the window. The restaurant was busy and full of energy. I was lucky enough to get parking on the street right in the front. Only street parking available. We ordered the paella when we were seated knowing it would take a while. We had the following items: Patatas Cargadas Croquetas Pollo Tajin Meatballs Shrimp Paella Grilled broccoli rab Stuffed peppers piquillos Sliced Jimon All were excellent. The restaurant was very busy but our servers kept up.

Had dinner with a small group and decided on trying a number of tapas. Recommend making reservations, at least at prime dinner hours. It's an Intimate space so it's cozy and expect to sit close to fellow patrons. Service was attentive and helpful. We had some dietary restrictions in our group so there are options for pescatarians and vegetarians. We ordered a variety of tapas; Fan favorites: *Albondigas - meatballs were really flavorful and satisfying *Piquillos - unique appetizer with chilled peppers filled with goat cheese. The two ingredients pair nicely *Chicken croquettes- crowd pleaser, nice blend of filling and crispy exterior *Table de queso - savory and sweet cheese platter with small bites and range of textures *Churros con Chocolate - can't pass up on this dessert *Patatas Bravas- can't go wrong with fried potato tapas *Fried Calamari- fresh and crispy Nice to try but likely wouldn't order again: *Mushroom croquettes- Inside is soft blended filling and super garlic forward. A bit too strong for me. *Cauliflower tapas - nice vegetarian option *Diosa verde salad - pretty aesthetic and decent salad We filled up on apps and missed out on paella which will be a must try on our next visit. La Marcha offers happy hours for more affordable, but limited items.

My friend and I came for the Berkeley restaurant week $25 lunch menu on a Friday noon. Not very busy, only one server. We ordered 4 tapas and 2 paellas to share. Food took SO LONG to come. Waited 30 minutes for the tapas and 45 minutes for paella. And the portions were SO SMALL. Like one croqueta? One pepper? Really? And the paella came in these tiny steel pans instead of the usual cast iron so the rice wasn't crispy. We ordered the veggie one for variety because it sounded good but don't get it. It was flavorless. Seafood paella was decent but I've had much better. I guess that's why it was $25 though I don't think it was worth even that because of how long we had to wait.

The Jose Andre's tapas bar in Washington DC was my favorite tapas bar, until now. La Marcha has been an Oakland mainstay for over 10 years and is now on my fave list every time I come here. Celebrated my son's birthday and we started w the Abondigas which were almost, but not quite, as good as my mothers' recipe. The Paella was heavenly and chock full of shrimp and other heavenly delights. I can go on and on but this place has to be on your bucket list if you love tapas like I do and happens to be in the East Bay. Check it out!

Went to La Marcha because I heard amazing things about their food. We got the pitcher of sangria to share between 3 1/2 folks though I think 2 of us could have killed the entire pitcher. The sangria was refreshing. We order their octopus plate and paella and few other dishes. Everything had a wonderful taste to it. Nothing overpowering, but unique. The restaurant itself is a bit small, so make a reservation if you can.

What a great dining experience! Food was amazing, everything cooked to perfection and loved the savory flavors. Portions were great for tapas, sharing, and trying many things. The paella looked great although we did not order it ourselves. Quite large and I think you'd probably want to share it between at least 4 people. Cocktails were yummy as well, refreshing on a foot day! Lovely and lively ambiance. Thank you to our waitress and the staff who were great!

Food: 4.5 overall, the food was great. Service: 2 (see below - server needs training) Ambiance: 4 very nice feeling, vibe and the bar staff was solid Overall: 3.5 Price: $600 for a party of 6, pre fix with drinks and 20% tip. Went there for New Year's Eve dinner which was pre fix and prepaid. Our reservation was for 9:30p and we were told upon arrival that we'd have to wait for 30-minutes either at the bar or outside in the rain (yikes) bc as they admitted that they had oversold. Hmmm..... We decided to wait in our car while our friends had drinks at the bar. Not ideal but ok it's NYEve. Upon seating our party of 6, I was told that we had only prepaid for a party of 5 and that they would only serve a party of 5. Talk about a distrustful approach. Juan, the server was indignant when I showed him my reservation on OpenTable and my credit card payment on my credit card app. He said he'd talk to the owner. Not the most welcoming first 15-minutes. Our whole table was like, WTF? Juan returned saying that we were good to go and that he had confused us with the party of 5 seated behind us. The server dampened the celebratory mood by mixing up our reservations. After that the finally served us. Despite that, we kept a positive mood. When paying. Juan did the straight up hover when we paid our drink tab and tip. That's just not worthy of a Michelin plate restaurant. They need to train their staff better. Great place for tapas, drinks, and paella. Don't expect the best service. I'm not sure I'd go back after that service fiasco.

La Marcha Tapas Bar on a Thursday was vibrant, lively, and full of fun chatter, staff, families, friends, and more. Truly felt like this was the place to be and felt like we were 'in the know' of where to go for the weekday celebrations and brink of weekend ahead :) A friend and I cozied up to the bar and ordered drinks with the attentive and friendly staff. I went with the house-made red sangria and for tapas bites we did: hamburguesas morunas (lamb sliders), piquillos rellenos (goat cheese stuffed peppers), and croquetas de jamón. Everything came super timely, was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and was a perfect experience for two to share a couple bites, sips, and stellar surrounding vibes. I would love to come back for happy hour (M-F from 4-6p, late night 10p-12a for drink specials, discounted tapas, and I even read you get a complimentary tapas with every drink). Now that's the way to go! I also think it would be awesome to check out the paella with a group, or even swing through for their widely-popular brunch on the weekends. When you have a minute, check out that brunch menu..drooling. All in all, would love to frequent this local spot again soon. Metered parking out front, but leave time to find it -- also leave a little extra budgeting for this meal.

Wonderful place that I thought I'd already reviewed - so ok, time to write a review! Was here Fall, 2025, and previously in Summer of 2022. Had some of the same favorites and branched out too. TLDR: You really can't go wrong with anything you order here! Was blown away in 2022; in 2025, it was very good, but a bit less magic. Both times we tried the Arroz Negro (Squid Ink Paella), comprised with: squid ink, little clams, fennel sausage, oyster aioli, trout roe. Super tasty. Your lips will turn temporarily black. Note: the fennel sausage, of course, has fennel - and I'm a big fan of that. Not everyone loves it, though, so know your table. After enjoying it twice, it's time try another one the next time. We also really enjoyed Bruselas: brussels sprouts, grapes, balsamic-pedro ximénez. Glazed and crispy and just the right amount of crunch. The croquetas are delicious, but they may be out of one or two. The dessert - well, definitely try the churros - perfectly crisp and sweet, not greasy, and ohh that chocolate! The wine selection the last time was less than the best. Of the white wines available, there was only a sweet (not quite moscato, though they also had a moscato I think). Wish there were more options for a dry white. Service was friendly and busy. On the night we came, they had live music. The guy played beautiful Flamenco guitar -- and nice touch. He starts at 8pm on Sundays.

I liked evening we ordered. The paella is definitely delicious. You MUST order it. All the side dishes are cute as well. I would not recommend the potatoes as it's literally just potatoes and hot sauce. The scallops are amazing as well. The place is cute and gives people enough privacy to talk. The desserts are delicious as well. My favorite was the meat balls thing. I couldn't think of the name, but if you see the photo with a salmon color plate. That's it. Ask the waiter and you will love it. For your consideration, we had two people, we ordered three side dishes and one paella and two desserts. We were full. People here are efficient.

The restaurant was packed and seating is pretty limited, so I'd highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. The atmosphere is lively and energetic with casual Japanese eatery vibes, and service was friendly throughout the meal. Everything felt creative, rich in flavor, and very texture-focused. Here are the highlights: * Ankimo Mousse (monkfish liver) with sweet potato chips - Made with truffle paste, capers, and chives. Absolutely delicious. The mousse was rich and savory but surprisingly fluffy in texture -- honestly a savory girl's dream. The sweet potato chips added just enough sweetness and a snap to balance the richness of the liver. 9/10 * Bluefin Tuna & Tsubugai Sashimi Nuta - Bluefin tuna, sea snail, broccolini, and fresh wakame tossed in a sweet Kyoto yuzu miso vinaigrette. Kind of like a sashimi-seaweed salad. I really liked the vinaigrette and especially the texture of the sea snail. I'm not sure all the ingredients fully came together cohesively, but it was still enjoyable overall. 7.5/10 * Yuba (house-made tofu skin with ikura and uni) - Served as single bites on spoons. SO good. You can really taste the difference between house-made tofu skin and store-bought. It's much more delicate, creamy, and tender, with a mild soybean flavor that balanced the richness of the uni and salmon roe beautifully. The textures in this bite were incredible. 9.5/10 * Iberico Pork Jowl Skewer with miso marinade - I honestly prefer pork jowl over pork belly. The fat and meat are more integrated instead of layered, so every bite is tender, juicy, and flavorful with just the right amount of chew. So good. 9/10 * Clam & Cilantro Ramen - I've never had a ramen broth quite like this. It was slightly creamy and deeply flavored from the clams, and the cilantro added a lot of depth and freshness. The noodles had a great texture too -- chewy and bouncy. Everything worked together perfectly. 9/10 * Uni Carbonara Pasta - Pasta with parmesan, uni, and ikura. They do not skimp on the uni or roe here. Super creamy and rich with bursts of saltiness from the ikura. The texture was great, but I honestly wished it had just a tiny bit more salt to really make all the flavors pop. It was almost there for me. 7.5/10 * Desserts - We tried two desserts, including the sweet potato brûlée. Both were delicious. One had a silky panna cotta-like texture, while the sweet potato brûlée was creamy, lightly sweet, and had the perfect crackly sugar top. 9/10 Overall, such a fun meal with a lot of unique dishes and flavor combinations. There are still so many things on the menu I want to try next time. I'll definitely be back.

The standouts were the corn tempura, the sushi and the beef okonomiyaki. The skewers were good but not great; I felt the pork belly was a tad salty, and some of the pieces of the beef were slightly overcooked + chewy. The black cod was flaky but I wish it was marinated a bit more with the miso for stronger flavor. I wish I did not order the spring roll or the foil wrapped salmon. The spring roll was soggy bc the filling inside was so damp and lacked seasoning & flavor. The salmon was very dry, but the mushrooms were flavorful and juicy. Definitely recommend reservations or be ready to wait at least 45 minutes. The inside is quite small, tables as well, so be ready to sit pretty close to your neighboring patrons. Very lively atmosphere that can get loud, but could also be fun!

Endive, super sweet purple snap peas (which I've never seen before??? and now want to grow in my garden because they were like the best peas I've had in a while!!!), radishes, and some carrots. I'm still thinking about those snap peas haha.

We were seated around 7:30 (which is still prime dinner time imo) only to be told that many of the menu items had already sold out, which was disappointing. The items that were still available were good and we still had a nice time overall. FYI, the non-alcoholic beverage selection is quite limited. At this price point, the wait plus the number of sold out dishes makes us question whether we would come back.

We waited for about 30 min and the restaurant texted us once the table was ready. We also ordered the oden set, sasami, tori tataki, gyu-tan, enoki bacon, and buta bara. Evertyhing tasted pretty good, but the most impressive dish was sasami with umeboshi, which was inner bresat with umehad was the inner breast with umeboshi. It was my first time trying raw chicken, and it tasted really good. The chicken breast was really tender, with a tuna-like texture, and without any slimy or odd flavors. Ever since then, I've been telling my friends to try it. The Tori Tataki was seared chicken breast sashimi with ponzu, which tasted a bit plain compared to the sasami. So I would highly recommended to get theeir sasami!

The booths with soft pillows made it extra comfortable, and multiple staff members greeted us right away and made sure we felt taken care of throughout our visit. We decided to try the bottomless mimosas, and even though we're from out of state where they're usually cheaper, we normally don't get them but it was 100% worth it. We were a little hesitant at first, but we're so glad we went for it--the flavors were amazing and kept coming at a great pace. The food really impressed us too. Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The Korean spicy syrup was a standout--so unique and absolutely delicious. (Spicy pork bowl & waffle and Korean kfc was amazing!!! Portions were generous for the price, which made the whole experience feel like a great value. Overall, we were really impressed. Would've loved a bit more attentiveness from our server (especially for water refills and the check), but overall enjoyed the restaurant and would come again the next time I'm in town!

The cocktails and wine set a perfect tone, and the arroz negro was the showstopper of the night. Jet black squid ink rice loaded with shrimp, mussels, clams, roasted red peppers, and peas served in a classic paella pan. It looks dramatic but trust me, it is NOT burnt. Rich, perfectly executed, and absolutely delicious. Dessert was equally impressive, a caramelized cheesecake with shaved coconut and edible flowers paired with strawberry sorbet and berry compote. The space is welcoming and festive. Would totally come back here again and highly recommend it. I had a mushroom dish and an eggplant dish, both of which I would highly recommend. Of course, we had the cheese selection to share and he had the jamon iberico and croquets. They even brought him some churros as a birthday surprise. If I came back, I would order the crème brûlée. The guys next to us had it and it looked amazing. I enjoyed a hibiscus tequila drink as well as the salt foam margarita. And he had a Spanish old-fashioned he said he would totally order again. :-)

There was no wait time and we were able to get a table. The server was very sweet. I am vegetarian and was looking for veg options. She went through the menu with me and helped me think through. I got the vegan spicy tomato pizza and my friend got the shakshouka. We also got some herbal tea to go on the side. The tea came out pretty quickly and tasted great. The food also came out pretty quickly. The presentation of the pizza was top notch and I could not wait to dig in. The portion size was adequate. The vegan cheese was yummy and the spice level of the pizza was just right. The pizza was packed with flavor and thin crust! My friend liked the shakshouka too. He said it was flavorful and tasted great! Over all, we loved this restaurant. The ambiance is very welcoming and they have farm to table concept. We shared a plate of the tossed green salad and crispy Brussels sprouts, in addition to two pizzas - Fun-Gi and the Spicy Tomato. The crispy Brussels sprouts stole the show - the deep-frying created a smoky flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture that was equally loved by vegetarians and non-vegetarians in the group. The tossed salad was decent; the lettuce was heavily coated with oily dressing, which I think could have used more acidity. The Fun-Gi pizza was our favorite of the two pies - the hint of truffle oil and rosemary took this mushroom pizza to the next level. I also loved the light and airy crust, which had the perfect amount of crispiness. I wasn't as much of a fan of the Spicy Tomato pizza; while I really liked the unexpected sweetness from the tapenade, the cashew cream drizzle seemed out-of-place. The ambiance of the restaurant was whimsical and warm, providing the perfect backdrop for my friends to linger over our meal. The outdoor seating also looked very charming, and I imagine it would be nice to dine here on a warm, summer evening.
