Happy hour is so worth it!! I came here on a Friday at 4:30pm with a party of 5. We made a reservation on open table so we didn't wait at all. They only seat you once your entire party arrived but it wasn't that busy when we arrived. We ordered a pitcher of white sangria, all the croquettes except the lobster, the potatoes, Brussel sprouts, calamari, pulpo, and squid ink paella. -My favorite croquette was the squid ink one but they were all yummy. I would personally skip on the ham and Gruyère one since it was too cheesy for my taste. -The pulpo was really tender! Loved it! -The Brussel sprouts had a sweet balsamic so it balanced the bitterness of the vegetable. -The paella was sooo good - it was full of seafood flavor. We wanted to try this place for the longest time, and yesterday was the day. I made a reservation for 5:30 pm, the old man at the door was very polite. It was still happy hour. With happy hour you get a bite sample of their tapas. The food is very good, 5 stars to the food. The ambiance was ok, cozy. But I wasn't impressed with the service. At the beginning Nelly was polite, but them she forgot to offer me a tapa with my second drink. Then I I decided to ask a question to the busser about the happy hour rule for a free tapa with a drink. That enraged Nelly and she just told me that if I have a question or doubt I should ask her. After that small situation, the service from Nelly went down the drain. I don't want a waiter/waitress to be happy and smiling all the time, but I do expect good customer service. Maybe Nelly wasn't having a good day yesterday, but for me, anyone working in the service industry should offer excellent customer service all the time. I will give 5 stars to Gabriel the busser for customer service. Next week we are going to try Teleféric Barcelona in Walnut Creek, maybe it will be a better dining experience. read more

I would give the food a 5 but the service a 1. We went for the 10pm happy hour which is a great deal on food and drinks, however, the employees that night seemed annoyed that we were even in there. They weren't friendly at all and it took 24 minutes for them to take our drink order. We had empty water cups for about half of our visit and had to ask for water. They decided to close early at 11:30 and started to stack the chairs. The sangria is amazing and the food is great too but we hesitate to come back because of that experience. read more

I was looking for a dinner spot with my friend after our original dinner plans fell through, and we decided to go here. We got lucky because we got a table after 5 minutes even though it was crowded for a Monday night. I haven't had the opportunity to try Spanish dishes a lot, so the menu items sounded really interesting and delicious! We ended up ordering a ton of tapas to sample a lot of dishes: patatas bravas, bruselas, colifor, pulpo, vieras, croquetas (duck), a fried shrimp ball (forgot the name of the dish), and the churros. The best dishes for me based on personal taste was the patatas bravas, bruselas, pulpo, and croquetas. The patatas bravas came out freshly prepared and were even had to wait for the inside to cool down otherwise we'd burn our mouths. The fluffy inside combined with a crunchy outside, and combined with the sauce was sooo good. It wasn't overly spicy and balanced the dish well. The bruselas were absolutely delicious as well. I have never had brussel sprouts prepared with a balsamic reduction but it was tangy and had just the right amount of sweetness. The brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly as well, with a good crunch and softness too. The pulpo was super tender and paired well with the puree. Octopus can be so tough if overcooked but this was not the case here. The croquetas had just the right amount of duck filling and were fried golden brown. The sauce helped cut down on the richness as well. The other items were still good but just not my favorite, or had ingredients that I was not familiar with. The churros were really interesting. I am more familiar with Mexican churros but these tasted really good with the chocolate sauce as well. Overall, I had a great experience. Staff was very attentive and constantly checked in and filled our water. The ambiance is very relaxed as well. I would just be sure to order drinks or something acidic to cut through all the fried/cream foods. It's definitely a pricey meal, as it came out to ~$140 for all those dishes. We came to La Marcha Tapas Bar to celebrate our anniversary because it's been a favorite spot of ours in the past. Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to expectations. There was only one server/bartender working, and while we understand staffing can be tough, the service felt especially lacking. He did the bare minimum, no check-ins during our meal, no real engagement, and overall didn't seem very customer-focused. What made things more uncomfortable was that an unhoused woman came into the restaurant not once, but twice, approaching our table and others for money and food. The staff noticed but didn't intervene, which made the atmosphere feel tense and unsettled, especially during what was meant to be a special occasion. We've had great experiences here before, which made this one all the more disappointing. Hoping this was just an off lunch. read more

We've been meaning to try this place for a while, and we were able to get a last minute reservation on what seemed like a busy Friday night. Upon first impression, seating was tight. You are very close to the person sitting next to you (from another table). Which made it awkward when food was coming around, trying to get a waiters attention, etc. We enjoyed the appetizers more than the paella, the paella was just not our favorite. We had the buñuelos, pulpo, and the croqueta's. We asked the server for her favorites and she did not miss with her suggestions! What you have to get is the sangria!! Right off the bat, customer service was decent, but was not very happy that they were not very accommodating with my request to make the sangria sweet. I like my drinks sweet so I always ask for a sweeter drink. We ordered 3 appetizers and 2 paella and a dessert: 1. Pulpo - super tender octopus leg, but very small portion. A bit bland in my opinion, however the pickled onions were flavorful! 2. Coliflor: these were also very bland as well. But cauliflowers we're cooked perfectly 3. Brava: one of our favorites! We asked for the sauce on the side and it was perfectly crisp on the outside with the spicy sauce, it was good! Highly recommend asking for the sauce on the side! 4. 3 Credito Paella: this was a bit salty but very flavorful! The pork should was cooked to perfection! Super tender! Highly recommend this out of the other options. 5. Marinera: do not recommend! Seafood was very fishy, didn't taste like fresh seafood aside from the prawns. The rice was bland, definitely needed to order a side of their sauce to go with the paella. 6. Creme brûlée: no complimentary birthday desserts offered for my dad so we ordered this. It was very sweet with a nice carmelized sugar top. However the creme brûlée was more like a vanilla pudding than what I'm used to. Total let down!! We had this paella for our wedding a few years ago before they opened the Tapas bar. It was delicious then and we had many compliments. This special takeout trip of $130 and 45 minute drive with no parking, was a complete waste. The paella is burnt, the rice is hard. We tried to give it a chance but it was like eating semi hard burnt rocks bathed in rosemary. We even paid extra for chorizo and shrimp! With so much rosemary in the burnt rice, the flavor tastes like chewing on a wet rag that has been sitting in a bucket of dirty water. It was utterly disgusting and got thrown into the garbage. My friend and I decided to try a new place for dinner on Friday night. We'd both had a busy week and wanted to have some good food and a drink to end the week. We arrived just in time for our reservation (absolutely get a reservation if you're coming) and thankfully our reservation was at the bar because the place is small, with tables right next to one another, and it's definitely loud in the restaurant! After a few minutes of looking at the menu, a waitress came over and asked if we were ready, which we were! I ordered a white sangria, at which point she interrupted and said they were out of some things. One important thing they were out of... beer. Their taps weren't working. Which was problematic since my friend is allergic to wine. You'd think knowing their taps weren't working, they'd maybe go get some beer and put it in their fridge as an option. Oh and in case you're wondering, the white sangria was less than great and I'd never order it again. Things we ordered (because we wanted to try all the things): *Patatas bravas - good *Cauliflower - my friend is a pescatarian, so we asked for no bacon. This was delicious *Cheese platter - good, though we both hated the truffle heavy cheese. The quince paste was delicious *Crab/squid ink croquetas - these were ok, just not something I'd order again *Pulpo - the octopus was cooked perfectly! *Shrimp balls - these were really good We obviously wanted dessert, and most of all, we wanted the olive oil cake! Sadly, despite the fact that it's on their website and on their in-restaurant printed menu, we learned it was unavailable and hadn't been available for a while. Hmm, here's a thought, update your menu! So instead, we ordered the ricotta cheesecake and the gluten free chocolate cake. The cheesecake was lovely and airy. The chocolate cake was very heavy and dense, and while it tasted good, we could only each have a bite. I'll also note that normally I love sitting at the bar because you end up with better and more attentive service, but that just wasn't the case here, as we kept having to wave someone down for more water. On a pretty busy street so unless you get lucky with some street parking may need to walk a few blocks. We had reservations for bar seating and while there wasn't availability to sit there we were instead placed at a table in a nice little corner (much better than the bar would have been). Ordered a few things off the tapas menu to share between two people, hamburguesas morunas (lamb sliders), calamares fritos, coliflor, and piquillo rellenos. For two people, four dishes was a perfect amount to order and be at a good level of satiety. Hamburguesas morunas: if you get nothing else from my review make sure you order these. These lamb sliders may seem simple but they are packed full of flavor and wonderfully cooked. Calamares fritos: solid if you enjoy calamari. The squid ink aioli was new to me and added a subtle flavor to the overall dish. Perfectly fried so there was a nice crisp crunch but the squid itself wasn't overcooked and rubbery. Coliflor: the bacon was a bit too salty for me but my friend really enjoyed it. Piquillo rellenos: make sure you get a little bit of everything in a bite otherwise the radiccio may be a bit bitter. Otherwise I enjoyed the pepper and goat cheese aspect. Didn't want to wait around for the paellas so can't comment on those. Upon walking in, it definitely has a very lively, crazy energy to it. The tables are literally side by side and everyone is kind of squished in like sardines. It was just a kind gesture from him :) - Vieiras: 9/10 Super good! These were scallops with butters, tapenade, and chorizo crisp! The scallops were cooked fantastic, super smooth and buttery rich texture. The tapenade has a strong briny flavor, so maybe not everyone would like it. My mom and I were fans though. All the flavors complemented each other very well. I would definitely order again. - Paella Mixta: 8/10 The main show, very delicious. Only reason why I'm giving an 8/10 rather than a 10 is because I've had a lot of paella in my life and have had better. However, this is the best I've had in the area (outside of the paella my mom makes haha!) The dish included head of prawns, chicken, and chorizo! The flavors mixed well together and the rice was cooked perfect! The prawns did get slightly overcooked but it wasn't a big deal, still tasty. The only downside was the bottom of the paella was burnt rather than just nice and crispy. Mixing it together did help of course, but nobody prefers burnt, you know? - Crema Catalana 9/10 Crème Brûlée essentially. Very rich and creamy texture, and a wonderful way to end this meal. I liked that there was citrus on top, but I wish there was more of an orange flavor throughout the entire treat. It was very good, but if they leaned more into that citrus flavor it would be even better! Overall, La Marcha was delicious. I can see myself returning to this restaurant in the future. So we made a reservation and got here a little early but they were able to seat us right away, which was nice. I ordered the Revuelto de Credo, my wife ordered the San Jacobo and our daughter ordered the El Classico. The food came and was Fantastic! Came here for to fulfill my Tapas craving and it went super well! We made a reservation online, but still had to wait about 15-20 minutes for a table. However, I loved the dim lighting and ambiance of the restaurant. As for the food: Pulpo (10/10): This was my favorite thing hands down! Note that I am a huge octopus lover, but I found that they grilled the octopus perfectly crispy and the garbanzo bean puree was such a great compliment. Mushroom Croquetas (9/10): I heard they were famous for their ham and cheese croquetas but they no longer served that one. However, this one was just as savory and flavorful as I had hoped! I loved the crispy outside and gushy inside, and would gladly try the other flavors. Paella 3 Cerditos (6/10): Personally, this was my least favorite part of the night but it was still good. Hubby and stopped in for dinner last week on Monday. We got there as soon as they opened at 4pm so there was no wait and we were actually the only ones there which was nice. We sat by the window in a little cozy corner. I have been here once before but it was the hubby's first time. Unfortunately they were out of some food and drink items the day we went so that was a bummer. Other than that the food was good, all tapas style. The food came out pretty quickly. We tried a bunch of tapas and I had the sangria which was yummy. The restaurant had a really cool chic vibe and the staff was pretty attentive until the restaurant starting getting busy around 5pm ish. After we ate our food of course I wanted to try the churros for dessert which sadly they admitted to forgetting about them so the wait for churros was extremely long. Once the churros arrived we took them to go since we waited so long for them. When I tried them they were very hard and didn't taste good. A little disappointing for sure especially because we waited so long for them. Not sure how you can mess up churros but I'd give this place a solid 3.5 read more

Food was incredible. It was difficult to choose from all the delicious brunch options, but we opted for the Benedicto Moruna (cumin spiced lamb sausage) and the Rabos Con Huevos. The lamb was spiced to perfection - the entire plate was scrumptious. The large oxtail was braised to perfection, seasoned perfectly, and so tender. My 5 year old had the fried chicken and churros. We shared the Dungeness crab croquetas - so flavorful! Sangria was perfection. Dare I say, this is the best brunch experience I've ever had. One of the best dinner places I've had in East Bay so far! This is such a nice place to share some plates with friends and enjoy the outdoor patio together. It's a bit pricier, but the food is great quality and cooked well. We enjoyed every single dish we got! Paella - Arroz Negro ($50): I loved all the flavors in this and the fennel sausage and clams actually complemented each other well. The addition of the trout roe was also nice and the rice was cooked perfectly. My friends mentioned they enjoyed this more than other paella places in SF. Bimi ($10): This was one of my favorite tapas of the night. The broccolini had a really nice grilled flavor and it came with a hazelnut-pistachio romesco that was amazing. We couldn't stop eating it. Champiñones Croqueta ($12.50 for 4 pieces): My other favorite tapas for the night were these mushroom and manchego croquetas. They were fried perfectly and went well with the green cilantro sauce. My boyfriend wouldn't stop talking about these after! Piquillo Rellenos ($13 for 4 pieces): These peppers were absolutely stuffed with goat cheese, which had a nice balance of flavor. The radicchio was a bit bitter, but complemented the peppers when eaten together. Patatas Bravas ($10): This is a pretty classic tapas dish and they executed it well. I came here on a Tuesday night with my family and it was very packed. There were only two servers in the front, and one bartender in the whole restaurant along with the chefs. There were just not servers people to take care of all the customers. My family and I had to wait over an hour to be seated even though we had a reservation for 7:00pm. It was frustrating because there is a policy for reservations saying that you will be charged if you show up more than 15 minutes late. However we got there 15 minutes early and still had to wait over an hour. The food itself is decent. For the pricing of tapas and Spanish food it is pretty typical for the bay area. We ordered: paella mixta 7/10 (shrimp, chicken, chorizo) bacon basalmic Brussel sprouts 8/10 lamb sliders 8/10 beef meatballs 7/10 potatoes brava 7.5/10 Overall I would say my experience was a 7/10 due to the lack of servers and the wait time. The hostess was very unfriendly. I ordered two plates with one being pancakes. They gave me a very small syrup. I asked for another and she hesitated as if she didn't want to get it. Once the plate came it had potatoes , where I then asked for ketchup. The "hostess/waitress" told me at that time that the restaurant didn't have any. I didn't believe her. The bartender asked if I needed anything , I then asked for ketchup and she then got it from the kitchen when the "hostess/waitress" said they didn't have any. Even certain Japanese restaurants reposition their smaller quantity dishes like yakitori as tapas. I've heard about this place for several years including a shout-out on "Check, Please! Bay Area", but once again, it took the pandemic for me to try it for takeout. For sure, something gets lost when you remove the social element of eating tapas. I remember when I was in Barcelona when you count up your toothpicks from an endless display of plates to figure out your bill. However, I needed to be quite deliberate in my choices and hope I picked the right ones. I think I did good. I started with the $10 Ensalada Mixta, a nice little container of freshness with butter lettuce, cherry tomatoes, olives, egg, and tuna salad (photo: https://bit.ly/3Gi7Ei8). I think of octopus when it comes to Spanish cuisine, so I also ordered the $10.50 Pulpo, which presented slow-cooked octopus, piquillo peppers, and pickled onions over a velvety garbanzo bean puree (photo: https://bit.ly/3HPVQEa). Genuinely delicious with contrasting textures that worked. Of course I needed a protein fix and went for the $9 Costillas, a trio of meaty confit baby back ribs accompanied by a salad of pedro ximenez, pickled peppers and red onions, and arugula (photo: https://bit.ly/34HmL6Z). The last of my order was the $9.50 Coliflor, an appetizing box of blistered cauliflower, mornay sauce, mojo picón, and bacon lardons (photo: https://bit.ly/31ObDUN). That was a great cross-section of bites with a gourmand sensibility that worked on my palate. At the same time, I look forward to returning to the restaurant with a bunch of good friends and having the freedom to pick and choose bites on a whim. Will that day ever occur? I wonder. Would recommend only if you have nothing to do but waste time, food took forever to come out (around 1hr-1hr30) they forgot about our drinks and we seen people around us that came in after us getting their food first. Would never come back here again. Even if I had time to spare read more
