This restaurant has a hip vibe and the food is pretty good. The margaritas were strong and flavorful. It's a nice causal spot to grab tacos. You order at the counter and seat yourself. I had an order of three tacos, the fish, al pastor and chicken--but the fish was definitely my favorite. Great place to grab food with friends or to go on a date. read more

Great place to grab tacos and a margarita that won't kill your wallet. Order at the register, collect your cocktail, then find a seat while your food is made to order. Drinks come up quick and food isn't too far behind. Jalapeños and hot sauce are plentiful as well. read more

Diamond in the rough in Bushwick. Must try their green sauce and the red of course if that's your thing! I'm primarily a vegetarian but they allow customization with almost every entree they have. The dude behind the bar is pretty chill as well. read more

The price is very fair and the tacos were tasty. I came here with a friend who like me, frequent Mexico for foodie travels. Enjoyed my fish and spicy chicken tacos. For a Mexican restaurant in this context and neighborhood, it's good, but not great. When my friend told the bartender that our margaritas, classic and a mezcal, were bland (tasted like no alcohol and just limey, sugary), he said he'd replace the ice. Bar/cashier staff need training, but kitchen staff are skilled cooks. Spend some time in offering a touch of friendliness in service even if self-serve. It goes a long way. read more

I'm not sure how this place has low reviews. I highly recommend the nachos. they are consistently soo good. I go here too often...I've also had the fish tacos and burritos which are also very good! read more

Last review got cut off for some reason. Everything else was great here besides the unsalted rice & beans.

I would def come back for the tacos. The fish tacos were my favorite then chicken, steak and chorizo. The chorizo is a spicy but I personally enjoyed it. read more

I finally decided to come into this cute mexican cantina for a quick dinner. I had passed it several times and always looked at the menu and read the sign announcing their amazing happy hour. I decided on a carne asada burrito to go. I gotta say I am definitely a Mexican food snob. When I lived in California I ate Mexican pretty much all the time, so I'm used to it being super flavorful. I'm only giving this burrito three stars because it leaned more towards the bland side. Considering it had carne asada, pico de gallo, and guac I expected it to taste super authentic and yummy. Oh well, maybe I'll give them another shot. read more

I seriously wanted to love this place SO bad! It is directly across the street from my favorite local bar (Bizzare), great location and cute ambiance/decor. But unfortunately my experience was so terrible, they only deserve one star. The owner, Karla, is so incredibly rude, I do not even know how she is running a business. I placed a very simple order with a few modifications. Chicken burrito, no sour cream. Chicken tacos, add cheese. When we received our order, both items had sour cream on them (and no cheese on my tacos! the tacos don't even come with sour cream, why would they add it??). The bartender/waitress immediately apologized, took the order back to be fixed, and even gave us 2 tequila shots on the house! I was very impressed by her hospitality, and was pleased they were so quick to try to correct their error. UNTIL... my tacos came out for a second time. But instead of the lovely waitress, the owner brought them to our table. She basically threw the tray on my table and said "Is this yours?". I looked at the tacos, and this time they ONLY had cheese on them. Where did the rest of the garnishes go?! what happened? I told Karla that they were still incorrect and she FLIPPED OUT ON ME! Granted, I was pretty annoyed and frustrated so my tone of voice was not pleasant, but that was no reason for her to freak out and treat me the way she did. She literally said "you know what, fine. I'm just going to take these and you can have your money back". She then grabbed the tray off of my table and started to storm off. When I said to her "are you being serious right now!?" (bc I was very much in shock at this point), she said "I DON'T GIVE A F***"". Yes, that's right. She dropped the F bomb. To a customer who had already paid. All because THEY messed up my order twice. This woman literally cursed me out!! She is a complete nightmare, and I cannot believe anyone, especially a business owner, would speak to a customer like that! After taking a look at the rest of the reviews on here, I see that Karla has made quite a few not-so friendly responses to other customers, so this must just be in her nature/the type of person she is. (She called one person an "mf", told another person to go make their own guac). And Karla, I fully expect to receive a response from you on this one! :D So, in the end, as much as I wanted to love this place, my experience was so bad, I could never go back, and highly encourage all of you to avoid it. Oh yeah, and when the owner gave me my refund, she gave me an extra $6 back - and told me to make sure I included that in my review. So there you go Karla! I included it. read more

FOOD : was subpar - no flavor - imitation Mexican food - left me hungry and annoyed - what a let down - limited menu - I have been to taquerias all over the world and this place is a phony rip off - cheap low quality steak - sloppy presentation - and don't expect them to listen to you if u ask them to add or not add some things to your food - they do what they want - BTW I am allergic to onions so YES NO ONIONS please - Service : the lady that took my order was not helpful in walking me through the menu , she constantly kept turning around as I attempted to ask questions - and rolled her eyes when I asked if they served shrimp tacos - what a poor attitude in this place - it's like there miserable and they hate themselves - With all the amazing Mexican places in Bushwick this is the last place I would ever eat at again This is another imitator cashing in on the Bushwick transformation - either step your game up or get out the way - you have too much competition in Bushwick - Please check out the 50 other Mexican restaruants in this area before wasting your meal and money at this place - 45 mins of my life I will never get back - read more

$17 dollars, one fish taco, one carnitas taco and a side of fries and guacamole later, I can only day that the Mexican grocery down the road could have give me better food quality and taste for half the price. The chips aren't fresh and the guacamole is watery and obviously not freshly made ( which isn't what they advertise so I'm not griping because of that). If you want an amaaaaazing and really great meal go to El Kucho. That's my two cents! Oh and addition to this review: I think they should have a school for teaching owners how to respond to reviews. Karla's attitude towards negative Yelp reviews will make me actively tell my friends not to come here. Cheers owner! read more

For the amazingly unprofessional response from La Lupe's owner, I'm taking away another star. Making ad hominem attacks on my name (which is in fact, my real first name) and career instead of addressing the issues you had with my experience, then disinviting me from your restaurant entirely, is something that I've never had happen to me before. They are located off of the busy street, so very accessible. However, parking wasn't easy. It's a self-served restaurant, and clean, big, and well-maintained. I tried their Pollo Bowl, and it was very good and freshly cooked. definitely better quality than Chipotle. On down side, they serve their food in plastic bowl looks like 2-year-old's cereal bowl. That downgrades the presentation of the food. Update on 3/18/2015 Hey, Don't get me wrong. I stated above that food was good and fresh. I gave them 4 stars because food was good, and the taste of food matters the most. The presentation comes next. However, the respond from the owner of business and his/her mind set is kinda ridiculous after getting 4 stars. This is the owner's respond: "3/18/2015 Dear food critic, you just compare us to chipotles but, want fine china, I can understand your food backround and knowledge now. News!!!! this is a taqueria dude, the food will continue to be served in 2 year old's cereal bowls, if served in my good china the bowls will have to cost twice as much, did you see my beautiful plastic baskets in which burritos are served? next time bring your own china if eating out a plastic bowls is not cool enough for you or go to a place where the dishes are painted with gold. mf Cheers!! The owner" mf?? Really? OK.. The owner of this business deserves no star based on the way he/she responds to criticism, but Yelp has no option to give no star. read more

I want to like this place. Nice interior (gentrified BK mexican decor), good location. Went last Saturday (7/10/16), service sucked. Woman behind the counter was emoting "i don't care about you" vibes, not helpful or friendly. I'm sure you had lots of better stuff to do than work your restaurant shift lol but you could at least pretend. Food: tacos are good, but $5 for one small taco is just not a good value IMO, should be 3 for $7 or something. Chips and salsa ($5) are a total waste of time and money. These should be free, chips were pretty bad, salsa was weak. If I'm at Myrtle/Broadway and NEED a taco stat, I would go here again, but definitely not going out of my way, so chances are will not eat here again. read more

Averagely good Mexican food, the restaurant itself is somewhat pretty inside. Not too expensive either. HOWEVER, their breakfast is always a pretty big disappointment for me. In any egg dish that I've ordered the egg always comes extremely over cooked and a rubbery. Even when I ask for over-easy, sunny side up, etc. I end up with hard yolk and floppy gross whites. It's a shame because the breakfast would be pretty delicious if they eggs were done right! read more

This place is amazing if you are just interested in walking in and out, during the day they usually have the nicest bartender but at night (I think she's the owner) is so rude and obnoxious. We got there and set at the bar where we waited for a while before we even got menu's (not that we needed one) but she didn't even ask, and when she finally came around we ordered beer and chips and salsa, as soon as she gave it to us I asked for the spicy sauce and she came right at me with an attitude telling me to wait because she was gonna finish whatever she was doing. (Mind you I don't mind if we had to wait, but it was just the way she said it) she was very rude and unpleasant. But I'm not gonna let her stop me from coming back. Food is AMAZING. This is probably my favorite Mexican Resteraunt in Brooklyn. The tacos are flavorful, they even come with guac- and IT'S FREE. 3$ tacos, seriously can't beat that. Everything. Literally everything I've put in my mouth since I sat down has been AMAZING folks. Really great flavor on the chips and salsa. Then they brought out the bucket of margarita and I felt safe. Safe that somewhere in the world, where margaritas are grown from baby margarita plants (there is no such thing but don't tell me you wouldn't be trying to suck leaves in a field if it were). It was strong enough that I felt like one is enough so for the bartender with no edit button...thank you for the night of sleep ahead. Then the tacos came out and I knew that the gods of karma were shining down on me. FLAVOR for days!!! I have a new addiction folks and it is LA Lupe. read more

First timer tonight. I was immediately waited on by a friendly bartender at the bar. And she made amazing margaritas, even a spicy one. I had a veggie taco. It tasted good and I actually never eat veggie:) Only complaint, not major though, is that the tortilla got soggy towards the end because of the hot sauce u put on it and it goes to the bottom when you eat it. But it's not major because their hot sauce was just spicy enough....even for a hot head like me. And maybe that is an incentive to eat the tacos faster? They are that good after all. The place is spacious for as no frills as it is. And it's decorated cool too. Go on Tuesday and get $5 margaritas all day read more

I noticed a trend with Yelp reviews here. The more reviews a Yelper has, the lower the star rating. I respect Yelp as a great search engine and I know it actually brings many businesses more customers, which I always support. It's just those few entitled amateur critic Yelpers with way too much time on their hands that can ruin the Yelp experience for everyone. That being said, this is the BEST fish taco I've had in my life. I dream about it every day. The food is so good, I don't care if the staff beats me or publicly shames me. I will keep coming back for more. It's a cute little rock n roll place with soul, with spunky staff with lots of personality. Bravo! read more

The tacos are delicious, the food is good..the place is big and confortable ...I eat steak tacos with a shot of tequila..!! They are okay

Stopped in to order some tacos to go.The lady who took my order was quiet, but friendly. I sat and enjoyed a Mexican Coke (made with cane sugar, not high fructose corn syrup like it's U.S. counterpart) while I waited less than 10 minutes for my order. Walked home, opened the box to see some beautiful and amazing smelling tacos. The chicken was well seasoned and flavorful, I honestly inhaled the taco, it was delicious. The only complaint I have is the texture of the tortilla was a little off... but that was likely due to being in the styrofoam box (perhaps a layer of foil would help for carryout orders?). The chorizo taco was equally delicious, although I favored the chicken just a little bit more. Finished off my meal with some bangin' churros. Next time, I'll get two orders, because they were gone too quickly! I believe I'll dine-in on my next visit to get the full experience. read more

I like this place because I can tell they mean well and care about the customers. To be honest the margaritas are FANTASTIC And Very well poured (especially the spicey one) Elote is very good and always a staple order. The reason I give two negative stars is because the tacos are not anything to come back for. Also the pozole soup tends to be very salty every time. All and all. Bartenders and staff are very nice, drinks are FANTASTIC and they have happy hour all night on Tuesdays. I have a few negatives but honesty it's an overall good place read more

One of the first warm spring evenings and I wanted to go out for dinner and drinks but not too far from home. I saw La Lupe once or twice in passing on my walk home from the train and decided to have dinner there. Very happy I did. Started out with a spicy Margarita (the Picosa if I'm not mistaken) - so good. Spicy and cool - great combo. Along with one of those and 2 Coronas, we shared chips & guac, each of us had one chorizo, one carnita and one beef taco, and each had an elote. Guac was tasty and a great amount of it to go with the chips. The tacos were nice and the sauces provided were great - I recommend the hot and fruity one the most. I haven't eaten chorizo much in the past, but these tacos were my favorite of the three types, all served in soft but lightly crisped taco shells. The elote, though - man was it good. No, it was great. Perfect amount of char from the grill, seasoned perfectly. Nailed it - a real winner in my book. I've been back three more times since and will for sure be back again and again. Just steps from the Myrtle/Broadway J/M/Z stop, this is a great spot to check out. Good music playing, friendly crew working there, cool and relaxed layout. read more

Small Mexican spot with a cafeteria approach, that's worth the visit. However, this past evening I had an uncomfortable experience. I normally frequent this spot with my coworkers. So I always bring more than 2 people at least once a week. After I had paid, thus cashier pulls me to. The side and asks me what I do for a living.. She is named Maria Jose, from what I learned she was fired then rehired recently. She asked what I did for a living Bc apparently I don't tip. Now, let it be understood, that the establishment is cafeteria style, you pay for your food upfront then they call your number and you go up to pick it up. It's like tipping the cashier at McDonald's. Oh and recently I tried to speak to the owner Karla, and Maria José, refuses to put her on the phone. States that she's not there or too busy to take the phone call. read more

I have eaten here a few times since October 2015 and the food is always delicious and fresh and the service always pleasant and on point. I've been here at least 5-7 times since I live close-by and they have really yummy food however they serve awfully small portions for what you pay :/ The burritos are shrunken compared to what you would buy elsewhere at any other Mexican restaurant in the area, and same goes for the bowls - you just get the feeling you are being gipped. Always order uber eats from here. Food always come super fast and warm. Carne asada bowl is delicious, steak is cooked perfectly and soft.

I regularly eat-in and take-out from La Lupe. Was here that fateful day when this large group of possibly over-intoxicated individuals began their scandalous uproar as a consequence of being asked to keep the noise volume down. Inside the restaurant that day there were other people trying to enjoy their dinner, in spite of the shrieks and shrills being emitted from said group. Around 6pm is when the spectacle began, but that group had been there for a while. Shameful to have to write a counter-response that has nothing to do with the actual food. However, La Lupe is delicious. Period. Shameful to see the grievous responses from these offended individuals, who feel they have all the right in the world to sabotage this business and it's owner, while never questioning their own conduct and how offended other people were by their disgraceful attacks, uproar, and vulgarity. Proof is in the pudding...not one review talks about anything other than how they were so-called, mistreated. Perhaps this business owner was actually concerned for the experience and well-being of her "other" customers, the ones who were enjoying their food peacefully and politely. The way in which the animosity of these women is directed at La Lupe and it's owner is a discredit to their own criticisms and serves as testament to the quality of said individuals, particularly in view of the aim of their reviews. Keep making those excellent tacos, and thanks for looking out for us...your civil customers. We'll be back!!! read more

Fish tacos were amazing. Fresh. The Mexican corn was cheesy goodness. They have jarritas Mexican soda and a full bar! Other items we ordered were the carne asada taco and carnitas bowl. La Lupe is a great no frills taquería. It's the kind of place you can order juicy tacos, hefty burritos and some Mexican beer to wash it all down. Or a spicy margarita if you like to get saucy! It's not a fancy place, nor should it be. When the weather is warm there's even a little outdoor patio in the back where you can enjoy your tacos in style. I'd recommend the carnitas taco and the fish taco to start, and if you're anything like me, the horchata porter for dessert. Yum! read more

So 2 California Cats staying in Brooklyn decided to check out La Lupe on a coin toss. We were at the Marcy Ave metro stop waiting for the metro for Williamsburg for a spot but the train was delayed. Outside the station we see La Lupe seemingly so close we could California kiss it. We flipped for wait or try La Lupe. While most tables and the entire small patio were available, we chose the bar. Drinks: We each ordered the house margarita, which were served in canning jars, a good size for a margarita with all the flavors. Appetizer: They had chips and guacamole ($8) as well as chips and salsa ($6). We wanted both guacamole and salsa. The bartender pointed out that we could get a side of guacamole for $5, $11 for C+G+S. The guacamole and salsa were excellent. The salsa was actually made from tomatoes, onion, and peppers (unlike Calaca). The Chips were medicore really a store bought but a multi-grain variety which was nice if not fresh. My friend had the carnitas burrito and really enjoyed it. I had 3 tacos carnitas. I thought the meat was a little fatty (personal preference). read more
