For the location La Lupe is good, but overall it is just okay. The food always feels a little under seasoned, and I think they compromise by providing an array of hot sauces and a gallon bucket of pickled jalapeños to add to your food. If you're going to go here, only go when they have a deal going on like taco Tuesday when they have $5 margaritas. Their spicy margarita and fish tacos are the only thing that keep me coming back. I thing La Lupe has been actively working on their menu and advertising, so perhaps they will improve/expand their menu and overall restaurant experience. read more

Waited 35 mins after i ordered just for them to start cooking my chicken-- not sure what the hold up was since i was one of the 2 people in the restaurant. No sense of urgency as the cooks were just laxly rested in the kitchen consumed in conversation. read more

The tacos were delicious and pretty authentic however I also got pozole and that was not as great as the tacos and I was not expecting what I received I guess being Mexican I have really high standards when it comes to the food but it's ok I still give it 4 stars Ps: the churros were fresh and delicious as well! read more

Underrated local taqueria right on Myrtle Ave. It was a bit more pricey than we were expecting, but the food was good. I got the asado bowl which I really enjoyed. My boyfriend got some tacos and a torta. He said the tacos were great, but the torta was a little too creamy. Atmosphere is very laid back. The people over the counter were pleasant. Would come here before/after drinks at a bar nearby. read more

Absolutely love this place. It's cozy, the staff is ALWAYS amazing, and don't get me started on the food.. The tacos are great -- shoutout to the Asada, Shrimp, & Chorizo if I had to pick favorites.. only improvement the tacos could use is a second tortilla (especially for to-go situations). Everything else I've had has been very tasty as well definitely including the margaritas. Go here! Support local business! read more

I've been waiting to check this place out and I finally did. The yelp reviews were a bit intimidating, but nobody is dying, so here goes: Pros: -tacos are great ( I ordered both shrimp and steak tacos). Great portions and packed with flavor. Not the best tacos I've had in my life but definitely good enough for me to return. -nice backyard area that's pretty comfortable with nice art on the walls. -friendly bartender/staff Cons: -their margaritas suck. They have this pre-made sour mix that they add in that totally kills the cocktail. Just use fresh lime (muddled or liquid) and things will be fine. -they don't have table service but it's really not the end of the world. Would I return? Yes, definitely, But it wouldnt be the first place I think of read more

La Lupe is amazing!!! The service is impeccable. My party of 5 came in 15mjn after the kitchen closed and the restaurant still accommodated us and let us order from the menu. The food was amazing!! Very authentic and flavorful. Thank you La Lupe! read more

got a birria soup and taco. the taco was pretty good but the birria soup was not as good as I would have thought as I thought it was their specialty item. good place as it is around the corner from me, but aside from vicinity, I would not say this is a restaurant i'd intentionally go to if I lived further away. however, their happy hour menu looked pretty decent with $7 cocktails! will have to try that out one day read more

Kitchen closes at 10pm - ****booooooo***** Eat here on May 3, 2015- The place looks nice but you order at the counter, they give you a number. So thought out the time you are there you have someone screaming numbers - obnoxiously loud so that anyone outside can hear the number. The queso fundido con chorizo came out with onions and sour cream on top. It was so oily and gross. I've been eating this my whole life and it was one of the worst I've eaten. The wraps that came with it even sucked. The chorizo was ground up and slices. I didn't care for it! The tostada was good but the tostada it self was so hard and not eatable. They serve your tacos burritos and tostadas on cheap paper plates. With all the sauce and "wet" items it soaks through and you get pieces of paper in your food. I've been to so many Mexican places and I would not go out of my way for this place ---------------------------------------------------------------- Nice response Owner I wish you luck with you horrible customer service and dirty nasty horrible mouth you will have a for rent sign in front of your window soon!!!! You wouldn't dare say it to someone's face because you would probably get decked by someone! You really have a problem with constructive criticism- you must of had a miserable life growing up. read more

My friend and I found this restaurant marvelously fine. It was totally pleasant! The chorizo taco was amazingly flat with meat tasting like no other chorizo I have had. It was totally unexpected for a three dollar taco! Nothing but meat. The pork in the Posole was tender and sweet -- my favorite part of the meal. The radishes added a nice kick and the soup was thin -- the ideal model. There was a whole wedge of unsqueezed lime at the bottom - surprise! The burrito bowl was mushy. It made for easy chewing! Great for grandmas and babies alike. And with alcoholic drinks over ten dollars in bushwick, it is truly family friendly! I think the hot sauces were made in house. There was a smokey one and a fruity one. Neither of them were offensive! I liked that a lot! The bathroom was open concept - how Avant garde! I like that they use antibacterial soap and swinging doors for a shared urinal smaller than the size of most NYC closets with no light. At least it is gender neutral -- but hopefully gender non conforming folks also don't care much about privacy. This place poses steep competition for the cheap mom and pop local joints with large portions and friendly staff. If you like to be surrounded by white people (except those hidden in the kitchen) and great ambiance, come enjoy! Oh -- 15 dollar credit minimum, but that shouldn't be hard! read more

The food was mixed: The appetizers/sides were fantastic, the other parts just ok. Guacamole and chips: 5 stars. Very fresh, clearly homemade. The chips fried today, rather than out of a packet. Elote: 5 stars delicious corn and creamy cheese messy thing. Fish taco: 3 stars. Ok, but nothing special. Veg bowl: 3 stars, also ok but not special Carne flauta: 2 stars. Meat was meh and flauta was our greasy bad choice. We liked the place and the decor is cool. The service was fine, it was very empty at 2:30pm on Sunday. The owner asked if I had any better mexican recipes, and appreciate her desire to improve. I don't have any recipes to offer, but I recommend she gets down to "Los Tacos No.1" in chelsea to try some 5 star tacos. read more

Food was good, atmosphere wasnt as nice as we'd hope. Don't even think about the outdoor deck on a warm day, they have transparent plastic decking as rain cover, which magnifies the heat. The buzz of the commercial air conditioning units, makes it unpleasantly loud. So we ate inside, which was fine, chairs were old plastic school chairs, so don't count on comfort. Once again good food was fine, but nothing worth enduring uncomfortable chairs or a loud, hot back yard. read more

This is my go-to neighborhood taco joint, and I'm especially grateful for their covered back patio during COVID times. I've tried the fish, calamari, and chorizo tacos, and they're all equally delicious! I love the crispiness of the calamari, and the chorizo is super flavorful that I don't even mind the sauciness of it making my taco a mess. I love that they top the tacos with sliced radish because it adds the perfect fresh crunch. The margaritas are delicious (especially passionfruit) and strong. Most importantly, their HOT SAUCE is amazing. It has a great kick and I love it on the tacos. read more

First of all - (food first) the guacamole was bland. Second, the server or clerk was very upset because my handicapped friend brought her service dog inside. He kept telling us the owner was outside and she or him is bat crazy so we shouldn't have the dog in there. After we showed him doctor note. If the food was good I wouldn't have written this. This gem of a restaurant has a comfortable atmosphere. There is plenty of seating with unassuming outdoor space! The decor is vibrant and feels very homey. You must have the elote! La Lupe is THE BEST. Wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff, and fantastic Tuesday/happy hour margarita special. The spicy margarita is so good I have daydreams about it. The normal margaritas are great also and you cannot beat the $5 special. I thought the chorizo was my favorite until I had the carnitas, so now I have to get both. I recommend the burrito because its melty and delicious, but the tacos are also fantastic and you can get away with a meal for less the $10 as they are filling. About a year late reviewing La Lupe but just had to! I went on vacation to New York and stayed in Brooklyn @ an air bnb nearby. I must've ate at La Lupe 3+ times out of my 5 day stay. I was born & raised in Chicago an dining @ La Lupe made me feel sooo at home. I definitely wanted to make myself feel like a regular there even if I was only on vacation. Haha Food is flavorful + affordable, drinks are delicious, the interior decor is adorable & the ambience has a good energy flowing!! The entire staff is very friendly, attentive, and hardworking. I really loved sitting @ the cute bar as well. Also didn't realize this til my last visit @ La Lupe but you get free chips & salsa when you check in on Yelp! Hands down I will be returning to eat! I live in a different state and I am already dreaming about visiting again! Hope to see you soon!! read more

La Lupe is great if you are looking for authentic and quite affordable Mexican food in the area. It's great for dining in or take out. I've been quite a few times now and service is always great. We've been going here for a couple of years and have finally decided it's not really worth it. The food is acceptable--not bad, not great. The portions are tiny and the wait (for your food to be ready) is always very long. To top it off, the service borders on unfriendly. Won't be going back. read more

La Lupe has one of the...no, has THE BEST burger I have ever eaten in New York City, hands down. They are always there for me when I need them, consistent in their impeccable service, affordable, delicious and hits the spot every, single time. It's also a very special thing to find a burger that is expertly built, that stays together when you eat it and that is evenly crafted to the last bite. And the chips are lightly salted and always great to heat up in the oven if you're too full to finish them. ¡Te quiero, La Lupe! ¡Pa siempre! read more

Honestly, don't bother. This restaurant has mediocre (for the area) food, but terrible eat in and order in service. I've tried three times, been disappointed 3 times. UPDATE: yes thank you for a response La Lupe, but this review was written after 3+ poor experiences ordering. In person is perhaps ok, but you're a disservice to the community who is looking for neighborhood staples to enjoy. Your food is alright so here's to hoping you get better. read more

#Man, so I hate when I can't figure out the appropriate tip to give for places like this that are counter service. I paid with a card and there was a tip line. So I paid 20% and rounded up. #Then I realized I had to pick up my own food. #Then bus my own table. #Take everything to the back. #Scrape off the leftover food into the trash. #Put the bowls and silverware in it's appropriate bins. #I felt like they should have tipped me. read more

I wouldn't come to the area solely for La Lupe, but since I'm already around a lot, I've been in here several times. In terms of the Bed-Stuy/Bushwick border, the location is pretty ideal since it's directly across the street from Bushwick Bazaar and less than a block away from the Myrtle Avenue/Broadway stop on the J/M/Z lines. My favorite things about this place are that they: a) carry Flor de Caña rum, which is the nectar of the Nicaraguan gods and my all-time favorite b) serve pretty damn good food- I'm a fan of the shrimp tacos, tostadas, and chips + guac c) have ample indoor and outdoor seating d) have pretty solid bartenders who are both knowledgeable and service-oriented My least favorite thing is the $15 credit card minimum. It's a small business, so I totally get it, but I'm generally put off by places that either don't accept cards or have minimums. To be honest though I usually spend $15 or more when I'm there anyway, so I guess it's not a huge deal. They do happy hour, which is an way to unwind awesome after a long day of work but before hopping on the train the home. I think drink specials might change, but generally speaking there are $5 regular margaritas and $6 flavored ones (tamarind, mango, passion fruit) that time. This is definitely one of my preferred bars in the area, and I'll keep coming back. read more

Jeez, I wish I can give more stars. I've ordered the tacos here multiple time to go and they have been good. Chose to dine in yesterday and bring my family for some margs and was baffled by the fact that the server/bartender was arguing with a guest regarding him not tipping (I understand the frustration.. I'm a server) but for him to say all those things in front of guests was a horrible experience. I tried to let it go and ordered some guacamole and margaritas, but the argument became worst when the owner came and he was arguing with her about his wage.. we just paid and left :/. Guacamole tasted fresh, and margs were okay... but i would chose good service and experience over okay food any day. read more

This place is definitely a hole in the wall kind of gem - the menu is simplistic and straight forward for the most part.
