The entrance to La Hacienda.

I stopped in today for lunch with my coworkers. I have eaten here before, and I just forgot to drop reviews. This restaurant has a full bar, table service, and a few flat screen TVs mounted around the dining area. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean. It has a homey feel here. There is good spacing between tables. You aren't stuffed into a small area and forced to rub elbows with other patrons. I ordered the tacos chorizo, and it comes with 3 tacos, your choice of sides. This is an authentic Mexican cuisine restaurant. Cash/ credit and debit cards are accepted here.

We have passed this place a few times when we visit our son and finally tried it. He says it's so far the best Mexican food near him. We are from San Diego so it's hard to compare. I love the butterfly on the wall outside and we got there at a decent time and it was not busy. The waitress kept checking on us and was very nice. We took forever to order and she was fine with it. We ordered margaritas and 1 strawberry margarita. They were good. The salsa was very bland. Mostly tasted like tomato, no spice or heat. The food was good. I got the burrito bowl, my hubby got the sizzling salad and my son and his wife got tacos. All the food was good. Not bad for East coast Mexican food. We will come back during our visits.

Tl:dr this place is AMAZING!! Put it at the top of your list of restaurants to visit! Okay so we walked in around 7:45pm on a Monday: one elder, two adults, one teenager, and two toddlers. There was something for everyone--from the vegetarian to the carnivores! Because we came in late and close to quitting time, there were a few things on the menu that weren't an option. For example, I initially ordered the salmon tacos but the kitchen staff sent back the message that there was no more thawed salmon and thus that wasn't an option. My sis wanted to order one of the pineapple fajita dishes but there were also no pineapples. So go earlier in the day if you want something specific. We were both happy to tyy try other items on the menu. Everything was so good. It was the best birria taco I've ever tasted and the corn cake was so very delicious! I think my mom enjoyed her jackfruit tacos. The younger folks happily ate their meals as well. My toddlers split an order of chicken tenders and cheese quesadillas off the children's menu. The quesadillas were the favored item. Finally the three grown folks split a pitcher rather than each ordering a drink. We requested sugar in the rim instead of salt. Everything about these decisions were the right call. As a bonus, there were sooo many cute photo backdrops and the decor was bright and welcoming. I can't wait to go eat here again on my next visit to Dover!!

Cochinita Pipil

Do NOT order the mole!!! It is too chocolate forward and sweet. Highly disappointing $20 meal. I only had half of the mole chicken enchilada and it feels like there's a brick in my stomach. Husband ordered Cochinita Pipil which was yummy. Very upset right now. Wish I could get my stomach pumped. Service was attentive and standard and ambiance is standard for Dover. It's just the mole was so disappointing and the damage is irreversible.

Very nice decor, and cozy place to watch the game. A lot of high tops, and even big booths. Seating was very comfortable and spacious. It took us a while to get a seat it seemed to be packed. We even had a child and it wasn't to bad. They were limited on child booster seats, it was no biggie though. Once we did sit down, we sat at the booths right in front of the bar. It was nice to watch a game but, being at a bar/restaurant don't look forward to hearing it. The decor was nice and it was a good meal. The meal was tasty and plenty of it. The margaritas was good, it didn't seem to have alcohol. Over all the food was good, our kid even enjoyed the quesadillas. The sides were a bonus on top of it all. I would definitely go back.

Based on the reviews and how close it was to the AFB after we arrived late and hungry - we decided to try it. Coming from Texas where Mexican food is wonderful I was surprised and pleased with our meal here. Food portions are generous and the corn tortilla chips amazing good and crunchy. Enjoyed the guacamole as well. My chimichanga was done right and so was the black beans. My husband had the fish and his portion was good! We both took home leftovers.

El Paso Burrito $8.99 lunch

There is a big sign out front with lunch starting at $7.99. These go up to 10.99. The ambience was pretty vibrant but also had a hint the Day of the dead festival. It looks like a full bar setup here. The chips and salsa is complimentary. I was pretty astonished by how fresh the salsa tasted, and it had just the right kick to it. I picked the El Paso Burrito for $8.99 that comes with Mexican rice. Any changes is a charge to the sides. The Burrito was pretty good. It was filled with shredded beef, black beans, rice, red onions etc. With the provided sauce, it was better. The rice was meh, but that is a filler item. The service was pretty attentive.

The food here was very good at a fair price. It was better food than what we have in California. Kind wait staff as well.

Same "host" was our server. She started by trying to sell us on the buffet with was closing in 15 minutes. When we declined she took a another 15 min to come back to take our order. We weren't offered any chips and salsa (note for later) 30+ minutes later our food arrived. Both orders were missing items. While we were waiting for our rice and sauce for chicken, we noticed tables that came in after us getting chips and salsa when seated. When we asked our server, she said that we didn't get any because they were "making more chips" when we originally sat. Did she offer any when ready? Nope. Server never came back to check on our food or refill drinks. Had to track her down at the bar, again hanging out with co-workers, to pay our check. I'd give it a zero if I could. They must prey on first timers like us that don't know any better. Now we do.

We were seated and were given chips and salsa. The salsa was very good - that is what earned the 2 stars for this review. The chips were ok - on the thicker side but still ok. While perusing the menu, I found some of the menu prices to be a little ridiculous. For example, on the a la carte menu, a side of rice and refried beans was like $8.50? Yikes. Rice alone was $5 something? Ordinarily, rice and beans are inexpensive so the prices seemed a little high to me. My daughter ordered fajitas and I ordered the quesabirria taco platter that came with rice and beans because I figured for what they were charging for them, they must be something special. She ordered a Coke to drink and I ordered unsweetened iced tea. Her soda arrived completely flat - not one bubble to be found. My tea was undrinkable - it tasted of terrible, terrible tap water with no tea flavor whatsoever. I was surprised when our food arrived. I have ordered fajitas countless times from multiple restaurants and they are always served on a sizzling skillet. While the fajitas were served on a skillet, it was not the sizzling, steamy presentation found in other places. Instead, she was given a barely warm serving of small, rubbery shrimp along with standard fajita fare. We were there between lunch and dinner and there were only maybe 2 or 3 other tables so I don't understand why she wasn't served a fresh dish. She picked at what was on the skillet and was so unimpressed, she never even opened up the tortillas to make an actual fajita. Quesabirria tacos are my favorite and I was very much looking forward to them. I was disappointed in these as well. They were barely lukewarm and the cheese inside was not even melted. The dipping sauce was bland. I am very thankful that the rice and beans came with my platter instead of paying the high price of a la carte because both were not good. The beans were like a pureed soup and very loose/watery. The rice had no flavor. I ate about 1/2 of one taco and gave up. No, we did not complain or send the food back. I wrote it off as a one and done experience and knew I would never go back. The final insult was when I got the bill. On top of the high prices of the not so great food, they charged $4.50 for a flat Coke and $4.50 for an unsweetened "iced tea" that tasted of stale swamp water. I understand restaurant prices are rising but that seemed extreme to me. I was very much looking forward to trying this place as the other Mexican restaurants in the area are meh at best and was bummed to find this place even worse.
