Came here with some friends starving! Our friend said they go to this place all the time and said it was super authentic. Chips and salsa was alright. I ordered a burrito with came with steak and a side of French fries. The burrito was just alright. Not enough meat and the meat wasn't that seasoned that well. It seem like a lot of items needed more seasoning/salt in general. Compared to other Mexican places in the area I didn't really thing the food was that great. Been looking for good pupusas for a while in Delaware and these ones hit the mark perfectly! Just the right amount of masa to filling and so quick and cheap too! Been having a hard time looking for pupusas since coming to the east coast but happy to find such a delicious place. Tacos were great as well and love the al pastor. Sometimes I get let down because they only have steak, chicken and lengua but this place has all the staples. Can't wait to try their molcajete! read more

The only few bad reviews are from over 6 years ago, so I believe this spot was different back then. But as of now, highly recommend!!! Amazing authentic food with great variety of options. Prices are very good too. My friend and I ate 2 pupusas, 2 tostadas, and a big mixed plate that contained pork (was delicious), a thin steak, chorizo, two fried eggs, fried plantain, and rice and beans. All of this was $28, and it was delicious. The service is awesome too. Our waitress Marilyn was super welcoming, friendly, and on top of everything. She really made our time there very memorable. This place is a hidden gem in Dover. It doesn't look like much from outside but as soon as you step inside it has amazing looking handmade furniture and the staff is extremely friendly. The atmosphere inside makes you think you are in a different location. I got my drink super fast along with chips and salsa which by the way was very good. Then it came time to order and I ordered a traditional El Salvadorian dish and it was rEally good. I will make sure I come back to this place. Came in for lunch. Our server had a nasty attitude from the start rolling her eyes as she chewed her gum. As she handed our menus she asked what we wanted to drink. I told her this was our first time here and to give us some time to look at the list of drinks. Anyway my husband noticed her unhappiness and quickly asked for a coke and cup of water I asked for an agua fresca. I had a carne asada taco which was very good and a chorizo taco which was extremely salty. My husband had the taco salad which he liked, and we ordered pupusas for our daughter which she was very happy with she just wished they were a little bigger. The Jamaica drink I had tasted like the powder drink not the homemade style. Anyway I gave three stars because I believe that if I'm treating you with respect I deserve the same type of treatment. FYI although we asked for that cup of water 2-3 times we never got it. read more

I ordered some pupusas and a tamale. The pupusas came up first. They were very good. Not the best pupusas I've ever had, but still very nicely done. Then I tried the chicken tamale. It was...weird. The dough was gooey and about half of the chicken in the center was actually limp chicken skin. Who puts chicken skin inside tamales? Very strange, indeed. I told our waitress that I didn't like it. She was very nice about it and brought me an order of beef tacos instead. Which were good, but much like the pupusas, not the best I've ever had. If my favorite Mexican restaurant was closed for whatever reason, I'd try this place again. But if El Nopal is open, I'm going there instead. read more

I was in Dover for business and seen this place randomly and I must say that I was surprised. I am surprised that this place doesn't have better reviews on Yelp. My guess is that people don't know what authentic Mexican food taste like. My wife is from Mexico so I have had the legit stuff before and this place is no different. They actually use real rice and not the boxed stuff that most places use and they're tacos are fantastic. It's a Friendly place with a Salvadorian flair and is ran by a family. The problem with a mix style restaurant is that they can't focus entirely on one style. The pupilas in this places are ok but nothing to brag about. Oh boy. So my girlfriend saw this place randomly driving down Route 13. We decided to go there for dinner. When we got there around 7:30, no one was there (bad sign). We ordered the food, and it came out quickly (La Tonalnateca does this too but there food is way better). My girlfriends "enchiladas" were cold and appeared to be ones that were frozen and microwaved. I had fried chicken which was ok but nothing to brag about. I guess since mine was hot it was good. My girlfriend told them the food was cold, they said sorry but did not even ask to heat it up for her. The bill was only $13 for two dishes but we were really displeased with the meal. We will never go here again. El Nopal is 100 times better as they actually prepare and COOK the food. The best part of the meal was my Coca Cola, it was in the old school glass bottle and had real sugar in it! It tasted great, one star for that :) Save yourself some time and money, go to El Nopal or La Tonalnateca. read more

I'll go back. Pupusas in Dover is the main reason. The girl is nice and she remembered me from the first time i was there. The decor is kind of scatter brained in my opinion. I've been to straight Salvadoran places and straight Mexican places. This is neither. But I would say it leans more salvadoran. Yucca and pork plus the aforementioned pupusas give that away. Not the best in the world. But it is Dover. Who can complain? read more

The food here is awful. I was motivated to try it out because of the good reviews on here and because I desperately wanted some pupusas. I was excited to find a pupusas spot in Delaware, but was sorely disappointed. The pupusas were kind of tough and dry, the filling was not good, and the curtido was terrible. He used canned pickled jalapeños in it instead of fresh ones and it gave the whole thing a weird taste. I was so angry I asked the waitress to let me speak to the owner. She even said, "I don't like Salvadorian food" and I know she said that because the poor excuse for it that they serve at this restaurant was the only experience she had with it so I don't blame her for feeling that way. Anyway, the owner said he has to use canned jalapeños because when inspectors came they told him to throw away the curtido he made with the fresh kind. He also said that he adjusted the flavors to the demographic in the area who isn't familiar with Salvi food. Really poor excuses and I knew they were bs. The owner cooks the food and he obviously doesn't know what he's doing. It's such a shame and waste of money to come here. I won't be coming back. I'm still super bummed and disappointed that this place sucked. read more
