Carmen's Kitchen has HANDS DOWN some of the best Spanish food in Wilmington! I've tried several Spanish restaurants around the city, including Dominican spots, and I have to say Carmen's Kitchen is at the top of my list! Their Puerto Rican food is absolutely delicious, flavorful, and made with love. You can really taste the difference! If you're looking for authentic, delicious Spanish/Puerto Rican food in Wilmington, I definitely recommend giving Carmen's Kitchen a try. You will NOT be disappointed! My only wish is that they were open more often because I would definitely be there more! But I completely understand that everyone needs time off and deserves a break. Keep doing what you're doing, Carmen's Kitchen -- Wilmington needed you! read more

This was the best Puerto Rican food I've had in a very long time. The flavors are spot on and authentic. I've traveled from Maryland to Delaware for this place and it was worth it. They are nice here to the customer. I was able to walk in and pickup my food with no issue. I will be back here for sure! read more

This is a great takeout joint. The food here is amazing and the owner is the hugest sweetheart I usually don't order seafood from takeout places but the shrimp and fish here are always properly cleaned and taste fresh I drive into the city once every few weeks for the garlic shrimp and Mofongo. Worth it! Treat yourself, don't cook tonight, and call in an order - you'll thank yourself read more

Stopped in with my mom for lunch. The food was made fresh and we really enjoyed it. If you really enjoy Puerto Rican food you will love this place. They were also very friendly and professional. My husband and I were very excited to try this new spot for us. The food was very salty for us. Was not able to finish the food. And we paid a lot of money for it too. Will not be going back. read more

There's a very rude lady that needs training on customer service. I ordered by phone and apparently she was not listening to me... she was talking to her at same time. She also cursed! The meat is almost all grease. read more

Have not been posting as I have been focusing on school. I had to come out of hibernation to review the takeout I got from this restaurant. Mofongo is the ultimate dish. Yummy, starchy garlicky, its just frickin amazing. So with that said, I didn't feel like heading to Camden, which is where I normally go to get really good Puerto Rican food. I decided to try Carmens. I ordered mofongo with shrimp and alcapurria. A small side salad and oil came with it. My daughter who did the pickup mentioned the place was clean, and the owner herself was amazing with great customer service. The food was made to order, so I am glad we called it in. The shrimp were HUGE!! Lol she was generous!! Lots of garlicky sauce to accommodate the shrimp!! Nice size mofongo ball. Just amazing. The only thing was the mofongo ball. I would have liked to have a more sturdier bottom, but its all good!! I will be back to try other menu items. I just wish my daughter got their menu. It was hard to find online. I did reach out to JL Jupiter to go and show some on his YouTube channel. #supportsmallbusinesses read more

Got take out for the first time from here because I was craving mofongo. Food was great, and I got put into a mini coma due to the mofongo and carne frita combo. Service was great and it was very welcoming, would definitely go again for authentic Puerto Rican food. read more

Food was low quality and looked old and dry. Lady was very rude and constantly cuts off customers. Atmosphere was dirty and ran down. Don't come here if you are expecting good quality food. Place is a SHIT SHOW!!! read more

Empanadas are bomb!! Wilmington's best kept secret. Can't wait to try something else on the menu.

I myself am Puerto Rican; the owner & staff member must not have known I understand Spanish. As I waited for my order they chose to speak negative about their customers. I will not support any business that doesn't value their customers and talk bad about them; it was very disappointing. Not to mention, I did not receive any eating utensils and napkins with my order. I will never visit again. read more

Great food, great price and a friendly atmosphere. I have been there multiple times and have never been disappointed.

Best Puerto Rican cuisine outside of Puerto Rico. Carmen is a beautiful person who takes great pride in her food! She catered my husbands 50th birthday party for 50 people! The raves from family and friends made this party a huge success. Her Aunt makes the desserts which we had flan and guava y queso pastries! Prices are exceptional! My in-laws are from Puerto Rico and they loved everything! This is now my go to Puerto Rican restaurant! read more

It is becoming a tradition for me to stop at Carmine's kitchen the day I get off the plane when I come to visit family and friends. I live on the other side of the country in an area where there aren't many Puerto Rican restaurants honestly (I only know of one and one food truck). It's great for me to go back home know that I'm always going to be taken care of and be able to indulge in authentic Puerto Rican food. Granted my mom and my grandmom will always follow up with one of their mouth watering dishes, Carmen's is just a starter to my food coma. Sorry I wasn't able to make it back for the Ensalada de Pulpo. read more

We were here two (2) weeks ago. We wanted to try the food here, we usually go to Tony and Freddys in Philadephia, but since we live in Delaware, we decided to try Carmens Kitchen since it is closer to us. We ordered to go, rice with peas (arroz con gandules), rennet in sauce (cuajo), stuffed fritters (alcapurrias), fried mashed plaintains with shrimp (mofongo con camaraones). The food was good but it was a little above our sodium tolerance. read more
