My first time at this place. Probably won't go back for a long time. The enchiladas were bizarre. Like deconstructed. Pile of ground beef and two tortillas laid over top, little sauce, some cheese. I love enchiladas of all sorts (red, green, mole...beef, chicken, cheese) but this was not even within the basic definition and didn't make up for it with flavor. Other observations: Seated fast. Service was fine; manager checked up. Salsa was nothing special; chips didn't have the best texture. My dinner companion was perfectly happy with her salad. read more

This used to be our go to for Mexican but sadly all the food has gone downhill. Their queso is not smooth, creamy and spicy anymore it's just melted cheese. The fish taco was actually disgusting with a broken up piece of frozen fish and a TON of onions, the chicken taco was so dry it was inedible. There chicken used to be stewed with veggies but not any longer. And the drinks!! I hardly ever drink and usually 1 margarita gets me buzzed I had 2 and felt nothing, it was all juice. Everyone at my table ordered different drinks and not one drink tasted like there was any alcohol at all. We would have had better Mexican at Taco Bell. Like I said we have been going there for years but we will never go back with the food and drinks being that horrible. Taking recommendations for a better local Mexican place! read more

So, after grocery shopping and refilling the cabinets and fridge, I realized it's TUESDAY, and I didn't grocery shop for tacos. Dumb, I know! I need to remedy this. I search Yelp and Google for local spots; I needed a place that closes late. I work until 8:30p, and most places close at 9 or 10. According to Yelp, they close at 10. According to Google, they close at 11. I took my chances, and am so glad I did. I ordered tacos (of course!), one chicken and one ground beef, with onions and cilantro. While I don't like making alterations (unless it's an allergy), they were able to accommodate, without issue. I love that. I also ordered sour cream and guacamole on the side. I personally like salty guac, so I would add salt, but it was definitely good as it was; adding salt is just my own personal preference. I also ordered a pork tamale, per Tino, who is the best bartender! I have to say, the tamale was my favorite, and believe me, it was a hard choice. EVERYTHING was so freaking good!! I also enjoyed two drinks, a Paloma and a gran gala, both delicious and well balanced. Not too sweet and not too strong; just good! Tino was able to advise me on the menu and all the options, leaving me confident about my order. I was given chips and salsa, complimentary, when I sat at the bar. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Tony. He was humble and appreciative of my business. You do not get service combined with food, like this. Often times, something lacks; not here! 5 stars. I'll absolutely be back and not just on a Tuesday when the tacos are $2. I absolutely look forward to trying other items on the menu. Tonight we tried the Sampler and the Burrito Yucatán and they were delicious. We shared a half pitcher of the house margaritas and they were delicious as always. We just had another great meal. Started with the house made guacamole. So delicious and creamy with a little zing. For dinner we had burrito mesquite with grilled veggies and a beef combo of tacos, burrito and enchiladas. The food never disappoints and the owner and staff are so wonderful. This a good Mexican restaurant with a neighborhood feel to it. It's a little loud but overall ok. We both got #10 combo which is a burrito and enchilada served with rice and refried beans. Food was plentiful and good. Also got a side of queso and chips. Also very good. This is an odd review for me in the sense that I think this is a good option for Mexican food but just not for me. I always order my burritos and enchiladas with ground beef. Their ground beef was tasty and plentiful but way too spicy for me(yes I know it's a Mexican restaurant). Otherwise I would probably be a regular here. I did inquire to our waiter and he said "we tend to put jalapeños in everything ". So that's just the way it is. My wife said the shredded beef wasn't quite as bad, but I prefer ground beef. At $14.25 for the combo, it's pricier than El gran rodeo up the road a bit($12.25). It still was $35 for the two of us so no complaints here on the price cause I don't know where you can eat for that anymore. If you really like spicy then this is a good option. read more

Be careful. The menu looks like it has great titled food options. Like Oo that sounds yummy! However, Serving sizes are horribly portioned in comparison to the price and the rice....yall clearly made it with water and forgot to add any sort of a bouillon cube. The rice is completely tasteless. This is a photo of my husband's $23 Cancun chicken. Where's the rest of the chicken? And where did the mystery honey mustard sauce for the chicken go? I guess it's in the same place that the seasoning for the rice went. Not saying that the restaurant isn't clean or that the service isn't great. We won't be eating here again because of the lack of flavor and portion size for the price. But have fun trying it out! Go for it. read more

Looked at the receipt (photo) and went back up to speak in person... 2 Veggie fajitas were charged at $6 over the cost, spoke with a guy named Rob then on 2/1/22... He agreed it was over-charged, he indicated some new folks might hit the key wrong in the system (remember that) , I noted, the price is more than the meat fajita (see photo with menu) ... NO biggie, no Drama he said... manager needs to do it, he cannot... left my name and number... we are talking $12... no big deal. Waited. Called Sunday 2/6. got my original waiter. Good guy... David. We spoke, He remembered us. He "Swore" - his word... The manager will call you back. Note... if new waiters may overcharge... David was both new, and the "culprit" in this case... I use the word loosely.... he seemed genuinely bummed, BUT.. No one had informed him of either his or the "general" problem... Again, I told him... no worries. Waited. Wednesday 2/9, was heading to Lowes anyway, stopped in, spoke to Bartender... his diagnosis - new menus (first time I heard that) ... Ok. I am thinking: COVID, short-handed, 12 bucks, no biggie. LEFT him, my number again, said to him: No biggie, it's 12 bucks." he said a "Tony" would call me. Ok. it is now 2/14/ 22..., NO call NO nothing, I am happy to give the $12 to David whom I tipped $17 on the $81.... so... shhh....it ain't the money. Just give me a freaking call, Mexican Post... Everyone (your good and decent employees) admits that YOU were wrong. To overcharge is a mistake, to have 3 employees recognize and to have proof of it AND you have done nothing to correct it... with me or your training... is STEALING. Yes, it is. Let's set the scene, you and your lady are bootlegIng some liquor out of Total Wine and decided to get some tacos before crossing state lines, it also happens to be Cinco de Mayo so you expect it will be busy, no problemo. Spots left in the lot and a makeshift bar set up outside at the front door to hold you over if you have to wait. Luckily for us there was no wait and we were seated almost immediately. While on your way to your seat you noticed that Mr Mister is playing and it takes you back to a preteen pool party in the 80s. Not exactly a Mexican vibe but maybe the music will change, it doesn't and it's more 80's like Belinda Carlisle and god knows what else so you tune it out. Wife orders a marg and I order a Dos Equios Lager and chips/guac. Drinks were slow but it's cinco so no problem. Guac and chips show and it's like neither were seasoned, just bland. Both ordered chicken quesadillas and it was the same blandness. I can't say it was bad food it was just not what one would expect from an independent Mexican restaurant. It's what I imagine Mexican food would taste like in the UK. Waitress was polite and prompt. Don't know if I'll give it another shot when there are several other places in close proximity. read more

This used to be a good restaurant, but last night it was terrible. The soft chicken taco had meat that was not grilled but sat in liquid on a steam table. It tasted bad and was garnished with shredded iceberg lettuce and sad chopped tomatoes. It was the worst taco I have ever had. Every time I come here I like it even more. This time, we came in after a grueling morning shopping and loading at the nearby Lowe's home store. We were indeed ravenously hungry and wired. Adam, our waiter, saw to it that we left both satiated, full and happy. First came a seemingly non-ending string of multi-colored tortillas and great sauce. Then came the Fajita Combo, which we washed down with a pitcher of Reposado Margaritas. Outstanding. One thing that made me even more wanting to come here again is the restaurant's dedication to support the community. They were having a function the next couple of days, to benefit the family of a slain police officer whose murder made the national headlines. My son and I went here and loved the chicken quesadilla so much so that last Friday we decided I would grab them on my way home from my one job before heading to my other job. Placed a to go order over the phone and went to pick it up. $92 for 3 quesadillas a small thing of rice and some chips only to get home 30 minutes away to find 2 out of the 3 so burnt they weren't edible and we picked the chicken out and ate it trying to salvage the face we were all hungry and I had to go into work. So, at another Mexican restaurant (LaTolteca Fairfax) after having a live cockroach climb out of my taco, I needed something else. Things were going well, good bartender (Neil) but AT THE BAR... Parents (that were drinking), with 4 screaming kids sat less that 2 feet behind us at the friggin bar... Began bumping us, pulling on the Mrs purse... screaming, crying... It was like being at Chuck E. Cheese having a margarita. Not recommended. It God so bad, the parents took the kids out. Many at the bar we're talking about it, but then the other bartender asked us in a snide way... "How old YOUR KIDS?" Really, judge much? Decent place, good food, decent drinks, but for a place that would allow a 2, 5, 6 & 10 year old kid(s) to sit at a hightop less than 2' behind the bar..., I like kids.
