We went there for brunch. Service was slow. The waiter told us have to wait 20-30 mins for foods. I ordered stead tacos. Tacos were dry and less flavors. We've ordered take out a few times and always enjoy it. They have house made tortillas that are wonderful, and we love the molcajete bowls.

Used them for a few events and everyone was satisfied! The amount you get was well worth a trip from anywhere.

Very good tacos! I got tacos al compadre that have cheese and barbacoa. I got the broth, onions and cilantro on the side. The broth was amazing and a perfect companion to slightly dry tacos. I put a lot of lime on them but they still lacked salt. The flavor was there, but I would prefer more salt. I would definitely try more food from here. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. My husband picked up takeout tonight and nothing was right. The chicken quesadillas barely had any chicken in them. The the steak fajitas had three little strips of steak. The rest was all peppers and onions. They messed up the type of tortilla shells. We ordered two orders of salsa and chips and only got one. A lot of 3rd party delivery orders going out, so that's a good sign. Clean as can be, so that's nice. Very quaint, authentic vibe. The ladies in the kitchen are super friendly and attentive. Ok so my food was delicious! Barbacoa was just SLIGHTLY lacking a little bit of flavor, but it was perfectly cooked. Maybe next time I'll ask for them to kick up the heat? This little gem, which calls itself the "best Mexican Restaurant in town", is a fabulous find on the road between NYC and DC. I am not sure which town to which they are referring, but it does offer some hearty competition to Mex Food in both NYC and DC. From the outside the place does not look like much, just off a busy highway and with no visible sitting area. Step through the door and you will feel like Dr Who entering his TARDIS as you walk into a spacious eating establishment with an aura of sabrosa. To begin with, the chips and salsa are of the best I've had North of the Rio Grande. The camarera brought two salsas- green and orange. Both are delicious and spicy in entirely different ways--but in a way that tells you they are not made for the average northeastern Gringo. For a drink I ordered horchata-- and it came in a big class of sumptuous satisfaction. Next came enchiladas poblano- chicken with the chocolate sauce- common to Oaxaca. All in all, quite delicious. If you want authentic Mexican food in Newark, this is a great place to go! As you peruse the menu, you are given a complimentary basket of tortilla chips and salsa. Usually, I'm more of a queso/guac kinda gal but this salsa is like crack! It's very thin and pureed - unique compared to the chunks of tomato/onion in most salsas - and the flavor is insane. A popular staple between my friends and I are their beef or chicken chimichangas. Each one comes with a side of refried beans and cheesy rice (both of which are delicious). I can't quite explain why this place tastes different from the Tex-Mex joints on Main Street other than the fact that it just tastes fresh. The food here isn't bogged down by tons of seasonings other than cilantro, and I think that that really allows the true flavors to shine. Tex-Mex certainly has it's time and place, but take a 10-15 minute drive away from campus if you want to experience something closer to the real deal. Trust me, it'll be worth your while! read more

Upon entering we noticed abuelas in the kitchen and only Mexicans eating so you're in the right place for authenticity! Tacos were SO juicy and delicious. We decided to take a drive on a rainy morning to find a New Mexican place that serves Chilaquiles. We needed a break from the typical American breakfast. Well...we found a great spot. It is off of Kirkwood Hwy, just 20+ min from N. Wilmington. As someone always says, "Flavor Town".... This food has a great depth of flavors. The Salsa Verde sauce was delish. The 3 Fish tacos were really delicious. They give you a wedge of lime, some hot sauce, & milder sauce, chips & some salsa. i squeezed the lime juice onto the tacos, added some mild sauce(which was still a little spicy). I binge watched the Tacos series on Netflix last night and just HAD to get tacos today. Ordered 4 - al pastor, asada, carnitas, and barbacoa. All of them were amazing but the one that stood out was the carnitas! I've only really crispy and dry carnitas in my lifetime but Compadres makes theirs super succulent and juicy, just like I saw on the show. And each bite was filled with good porky flavor. I'm Korean and it reminded me of really good jokbal and bossam. Definitely coming back here!! read more

Amazing food! Their staff doesn't speak perfect English, but that doesn't make ordering food difficult. Every time we placed an order it came out just right and always perfect. My husband and I go out to eat once and week and we don't usually go to the same place for two weeks in a row, but this place had us for three Sundays in a row! It's a small restaurant, kind of hidden from the road, has an old sign outside and it's an absolute treasure. I've never had better carnitas. read more

This is the best Mexican spot in all of New Castle County...in my opinion, lol. Most people don't even know this place exist or have ever seen the front because it's along a strip mall that's shaped like an L and the part this spot is on faces an apartment complex away from Kirkwood Hwy. I have been going here for years now and have tried many things and everything is absolutely delicious! Most of their items you choose any meat type that is on their list to make is personalized to your taste which is a nice option most places don't offer and the list is longer then like 4 options (my personal favorite is the pork, pineapple & onions one, I get it with everything as a must have!). Also their prices are unbeatable and so affordable. Checking any of the other places you're paying a minimum of $15 and up for an entree and these guys are charging $12 and the tacos with the handmade tortillas are less then $2.50 a piece no matter what meat you choose, so you're definitely getting your money's worth. Since COVID-19 has happened I am not sure if they are offering dine-in options but everything on the menu you can order for pickup and they also offer beer, liquor and wine but again not sure if that's still an option since I am unsure of the dine-in option because their cantaritos are my favorite with Parton. It is a family owned spot with family working inside so everyone is always so friendly and inviting when you come in. The little old ladies in the kitchen are always slaying the food and preparing it so quickly, it's also a sign that you know the food is good! The chorizo is my boyfriend's all time favorite one he has ever had. With recent orders I have notice the inside has been cleaned up more and more and things coming down off the walls so it's makes me worried that they are struggling with everything going on and it would be absolutely devastating if this place closes. So I need anyone stopping by or that live in the area to please please PLEASE go try this place out and keep them going because I can't go without their chimichanga's & cheese sauce!! read more

Such a hit! First time in Delaware just for a night and we don't know where to dine. Thanks to all the reviews here in Yelp. My husband, who is not much into Mexican food, had the best lengua and barbacoa tacos. The lengua, he said, melts in his mouth. I had the roasted pork with onion and pineapple, the marinated pork...both so good. Authentic mexican food! My husband was happy that I asked him to dine here. It was so filling even if we only had 2 tacos each, I wanted to eat more though but I was so full. I enjoyed the tacos we had when we visited Mexico but this was one was really, really good. How I wish we have one like this in NY! I highly recommend the place and the young lady, Maria, who assisted us was really helpful, warm, and courteous. Do visit this place...if I have a chance again, I will definitely be back. **** Just letting you know that we went back the following day, before we left Delaware, because that's how good it was! I have no idea how this restaurant gets such high ratings, their food is awful. Granted, I'm from SoCal, I know good Mexican food so I'm picky but even giving this place grace, it was still terrible. I ordered the carnitas street tacos and a tamal, my husband ordered the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. The tacos had zero flavor. I could dump an ocean of salt on them and it would still be dry, chewy, fatty and flavorless. No sauce, not even a lemon. The tamal was disgusting. The AMPLE masa was hard and crunchy and the dollop of meat was totally flavorless. And not a drop of sauce of any kind. My husband's chicken enchiladas were also flavorless and the sauce was baked on so they were dry as a bone. Their chips and salsa were ok and that's the best thing I can say about this place. If this place gets 4.5 stars, I have no hope for the east coast Mexican food. Bummer. read more
