Was in the area visiting family and we were looking for a quick, easy bite when we came across Casa Mezcal--our first time here. We stopped in on a Tuesday evening and were seated right away. It wasn't busy when we arrived, and while it did start to fill up, there was never a wait. The restaurant itself was clean and casual, and they do serve alcohol (it looked like they have happy hour specials as well, though we didn't try any). They brought out complimentary chips and salsa to start, with a note on the menu that a second basket comes with a charge. One thing to be aware of: the chips are not made in a dedicated fryer, so they aren't gluten-free. Service was a bit of a mixed experience. There was definitely a language barrier, which made communication difficult at times--our questions often had to go through multiple staff members before we got an answer. Food came out pretty quickly, which we appreciated since we were in a rush. That said, there were some hits and misses. I ordered tacos al pastor but was given steak tacos instead. I tried to explain the mix-up, but it wasn't resolved, and due to time, I just ate them. Unfortunately, the steak was overcooked and tough, and the tacos themselves were very basic--just meat on a corn tortilla, with extras like sour cream costing more. On the plus side, my nephew really enjoyed his kids' cheese quesadilla and fries (the fries looked crispy and well-made). Someone in our group liked the chorizo quesadilla, and another had the birria tacos and thought they were just okay--nothing standout, especially compared to other places. Pricing felt a bit high for the portion size and overall quality. There is a small parking lot, but we didn't have trouble finding a spot, which is always a plus. Overall, Casa Mezcal was convenient and quick, but between the order mix-up, inconsistent food quality, and communication challenges, it didn't fully hit the mark for us. Casa Mezcal advertises Margarita Monday, $6 for classic margaritas. Awesome. My husband and I are frequent customers of the restaurant, just usually on weekends. We went tonight as it is his birthday and $6 Margaritas? Win-win!! First, I asked for beans instead is rice with my meal. I got rice. Ok, no big deal. Then we get our bill...charged full price for the margaritas. So we ask the waitress. Apparently you have to TELL them you are there for Margarita Monday to get the reduced price. What? Why?? Are they weaker? All the waitress said was that she was "sorry," guess what you just lost a frequent customer. read more

No VEGAN options. They have a vegan section on the menu but the rice is cooked in chicken broth. And we spoke to several employees who made it clear that they 1) don't understand what vegan is and 2) don't care. The boss man said we are not a vegan place when I showed him on their menu that it says they have vegan section. It's okay not to have vegan options but don't advertise that you do is all. read more

This local gem was amazing! We were greeted by friendly staff and seated right away. The cozy cultural decoration was very inviting. The menu had many options and tons of drink/beverage options. We decided to go light with just appetizers. So we went with the chicken empanadas and the birria tacos along with my passion fruit frozen margarita. Everything was delicious. Our server was super friendly and made sure to check on us regularly. It was a pleasant surprise close to home. When in the mood for Mexican give it a shot. read more

When it first opened, the portions were generous and the food seemed more authentic than it does now. Once they became popular, the portions got smaller and it seems like they're cutting corners - even though the price has gone up. It's more on the side of fast food than it is authentic . The meat is frequently over cooked and tough. I love chicken enchiladas' and the last time I got them I barely ate them and picked at my husband's plate. read more

This is the third time we've eaten here and the entire experience was a bummer. They give you a tiny bowl of chips and barely any salsa to start. Of course we asked for more because it is good stuff. Wife and I got our fajita plates and we had to ask for more sour crème because they hardly give you any. Also, who doesn't give shredded cheese with fajitas so we asked for some of that. Steak was chewy and had a lot of grisle. Stuffed jalepenos came with no dipping sauce. When we were finished eating and chatting the waitress, I guess because she thought we weren't ordering any more drinks, was no where to be found. I dont think we saw her for at least 15 minutes. Finally i had to stop her and ask for the bill. When we got the bill, we found that all the items that we shouldnt have had to ask for in the first place, we were charged for! $2 for a small dollop of sour crème! $2 for a small bowl of cheddar cheese! $1.50 for an extra bowl of salsa so we could finish our chips! My rating is a 3.5 amicably rounded up to a 4. food rating is like a 3/5 though. Drinks were excellent. Vibe was pretty cool. there was a chill uncle giving salsa lessons lol. I did not enjoy the food. the refried beans were good and the pico de gallo tasted nice and fresh. My plate of carnitas was lukewarm in the middle tho so idk how to feel about that. Bean nachos also weren't great for me. At every restaurant, certain dishes get more attention than others... I can usually pick that out but today I did not pick meals that were made with care lol i'll put it like that. Personally, this place will not be going on my list. We came here after looking for a Mexican restaurant in Elkton on Yelp. The place is newer, well decorated and a great atmosphere. We were seated quickly. Our waitress, never gave her name, was very helpful in pointing out their special dishes. My wife had the Hawaiian Fajita and I had the Burrito Texano. We also had stuffed Jalepenos. The stuffed Jalepenos were the only low point of the meal. The cheese wasn't melted, still cold? Not sure if this is a cooking style or was a result of being a frozen food. The Burrito was perfect, with shrimp, chicken and steak. Meats were well seasoned and prepared. The Hawaiian fajita came out in a half pineapple and tasted great. Casa Mezcal is so good. I've been twice in 3 days! The customer service is excellent. As soon as you arrive, you are greeted and they offer complimentary chips and salsa...it's really good. For dinner, I ordered the empanada appetizer (4) $12, but I chose 2 chicken and 2 beef empanadas. It comes with some type of cheese sauce on it, not too crazy about it but it was good. I also ordered a side of beans and rice. It's really good. The best I've had in a long time. For a cocktail, I chose the Golden Margarita ($13) it was good but kinda costly for a Mexican restaurant. I've typically seen margaritas priced around $8-$10. For $13, I'd expect top shelf or close enough. But no big deal...I'd still enjoy another one. Only negative thing about this place is parking. It's very limited. The restaurant shares its parking space with a gas station store, bank, etc. The shopping center is kind of small and located on a back road. This location has had restaurants come and go, this is probably the 4th or 5th restaurant I am aware of! But I think they'll be here for a long time. It just opened up and it's been busy. Parking lot stays packed! Also, the restaurant is pretty small so I wouldn't suggest a party of more than 6-8 people. I believe 8 is pushing it (tables small). The tortilla chips are home made and the food is excellent from burritos, enchiladas, tacos and more. Atmosphere has Latin music in the background with a few TVs around the bar. This business is off to a GREAT start! I entered for a meal shortly after 5pm on a Friday, was immediately greeted and offered my choice of seating section. I chose to sit at the bar. A young man who appeared to possibly be in a leadership role took my drink order (a classic margarita) and left drink & food menus for me. The food is hot and delicious here! Lots of wonderful drink options, including signature mezcala drinks. The booths feel a little cramped so I would try getting a regular table. This is a good roadside stop for any traveling family or individuals. I would say the one unique thing they have is taquitos, I don't see those too often out of the several resturants I've been to in the area before.
