Another excellent meal with a super server. Did not feel rushed as we lingered over dinner for my dad's birthday.

I had high hopes for Fiesta Maya Mexican Grill, but unfortunately the experience didn't live up to expectations. The food was just okay--nothing particularly flavorful or memorable, and some dishes seemed like they had been sitting out too long before being served. Service was also disappointing. It took quite a while for someone to take our order, and we had to ask multiple times for basic things like refills and utensils. The staff didn't seem very attentive or organized. The atmosphere itself was decent, but it couldn't make up for the slow service and lackluster food. Overall, not the worst place I've been to, but definitely not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit again. read more

The service was extremely personable, and Wilson, our server, was very helpful. He made a change and offered to make the beef chimichangas with ground beef. They were excellent and something that I always thought would be good. Most restaurants don't go the extra mile, but this one is a gem in a sea of mediocrity. I had a very disappointing meal at Fiesta Maya. The food was mediocre, and half of it (2 out of 4 at our table) came out almost 10 minutes after the other half--and with no silverware. One dish was cold, and half the orders (again, 2 out of 4) were wrong. And when I say wrong, I mean really wrong--one was hard-shell beef tacos instead of soft-shell chicken tacos! But the very worst thing was the service. We received one small basket of chips, with no water, and although it was quickly finished, no one ever refilled it (though we saw that other tables around us had their chip baskets refilled). We waited 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order. One person at our table ran out of water early on, and it was never refilled--to the point where she had to get up and go to the bar to ask for water. When she did, she encountered the bartender and another server in the kitchen doorway having an animated conversation, while another server sat at a table near the bar. Someone at our table also had to get up and ask for silverware because the first person we asked never brought us any! I can't think when I've had worse service. We will not be returning to Fiesta Maya. read more

Wow. Just wow. Was dropping my kid off to school and we stopped here for dinner. This place is GREAT. The server we had was so incredibly friendly and the food was delicious. We had the shrimp tacos, chicken tacos and steak burrito fajita with Jarritos and a spicy mango margarita for drinks. I am DEFINITELY coming back. Once again my son took us to a wonderful restaurant! I do like his choices. This lovely restaurant is tucked in a shopping plaza. There were seven of us and we were seated in a separate section from the other patrons so it felt like we were a private party. Our server, Alyssa was a delight. She wasn't afraid to make recommendations when we asked. We started with the cheese dip and guacamole. Both were great. My kids were scraping the sides of the bowls to get every last bit! I had the seafood brochette. It was so good I was practically purring. The portions were generous and the presentation lovely. I finished both skewers but did not complete all the sides. I was comfortably full. Everyone enjoyed their meals. One dish looked better than the next! Highly recommend if your looking for good Mexican food. read more

Met my son's family for dinner here this week, as it was about halfway between us. I was raised in San Antonio, so I prefer traditional Tex-Mex, which this isn't, but it was a good meal. We started with the guacamole, which was very good. The chips were fresh and not greasy. The adults split an order of tamales, which were the thicker, wider ones rather than what I grew up with so I probably won't get if we meet there again. I had the chicken tostadas, which were quite good. I forgot to notice what my son and daughter-in-law ordered, but they cleaned their plates so it must have been good. My granddaughter enjoyed her kids meal. The decorations were fun and the service was good. The nice thing about being in a strip mall is there as plenty of parking, unlike some of the places we have met. read more

I hadn't been in a while and I was very disappointed on this return visit. My friend got the Fiesta Maya Salad which was supposed to include a balsamic dressing. After tasting the salad, there was no dressing. When she asked the server, she said that it wasn't part of the dish but she would be happy to bring some, which she did. A later look at the menu revealed that it was supposed to include the dressing. I ordered the Maya Bowl which I thoroughly enjoyed on my first few visits but this time it wasn't prepared according to the menu and the ingredients were not fresh. The dollop of guacamole was borderline brown! Sadly, even though the location is convenient and the prices and portions are reasonable, I will not be returning. I can compromise on many things but never the lack of fresh food. read more

Wilson Wilson Wilson is all i have to say. We revisted the OG MEXICAN in Newark Delaware and were so happy to meet this incredible man. Host, server, bartender, manager you name it he's done it here. Noticed they added some new items to the menu like birria tacos with consume dipping gravy and birria quesadilla's. The meat is so tender and mouthwatering and the consume makes you want to strip down and just dive right into it. Wilson also made my wife an epic super spicy tajin rimmed jalapeño cucumber margarita which she thoroughly enjoyed. We educated Wilson about our favorite Mexican restaurant back here in LAWNGUYLAND where the y make the consume with ramen noodles and Oaxaca cheese which gets all gooey chewy . So after our awesome interaction with this incredible young man he informs us that it was so great to hear such positive feedback from us he would comp our 2 drinks which just blew us away. Overall, when I think about how Fiesta Maya compares to its local competitors my experience was just ok- because portion sizes were a little small, I didn't feel that the menu descriptions matched the food I received (ex. tacos are actually street-style but that was not indicated on the menu) and the service was a little impersonal. read more

My first time dining at Fiesta Maya was a pleasant experience. The woman who greeted me was friendly and promptly seated me. My waiter, Juan, was also very friendly and prompt as he served chips and salsa and took my drink order. I ordered a few things from the ala carte menu: chicken tamale, chile relleno, beef tostada, rice, and beans. The tostada was my favorite, everything was delicious, however the rice and the beans were a bit on the bland side. They also have a happy hour. read more

Service was super sad. Only one guy in the whole place doing everything. Also, I've never had a chile relleno that I didn't like until today. My Dad got the "hard shell tacos." Went on a Friday night with my husband. I ordered a Margarita which was good.. he got a beer. For dinner - i had the Mexican enchiladas and my husband order a burrito . We were both disappointed with the food but the best past was the dessert -A churro cup with icecream. I was in the bar area enjoying fun and laughs with my friends and family and someone from the dining area complained about my laugh. I never said anything offensive, I was just laughing. We ate there today and everything was absolutely delicious the drinks are very balanced. The portions re huge. The appetizer shrimp condito was absolutely amazing. We had the shrimp ceviche tostada and the sampler. It was really good. I got the quesadilla rilleno so much chicken. The Hawaiian fajitas came in a half a pineapple huge portion. Our friends loved it. And my husband got something called the molcajeti. It was HUGE Please don't mind my spelling. We took home lots of leftovers. Definitely recommend! We came on a Friday after work and the server we had was very friendly. The food came out pretty quickly and prior to eating we had their chips and homemade salsa which is probably some of the best I've had-definitely authentic. Lots of menu choices, maybe more choices than your average Mexican restaurant. I had the two burrito combo, one with shredded chicken and the other with steak-both delicious and perfectly seasoned. Went here with my wife and daughter at 6PM on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was busy and crowded, but we were still able to get a table right away. The chips were fresh and the salsa was tasty. It was a smooth variety versus a chunky style. Very good. My wife got the chicken fajitas, my daughter got the beef enchiladas and I got the enchiladas tricolor in chicken. The beef enchiladas didn't stand a chance against a hungry college student. My daughter enjoyed them thoroughly. The fajitas came out nice and hot although there seemed to be a lot of green peppers in the mix. They were very fresh, but the ratio seemed off to both my wife and I. The enchiladas tricolor come with red sauce, green sauce and mole. All three sauces were very good, although I preferred the red sauce above the other two. The green sauce could have been a bit more plentiful because it had a nice flavor and the mole had nice chocolate notes. The server was both quick and friendly. This is a great place to go to get Mexican-style food away from the Main Street parking debacle. read more

I was excited to see that a new mexican restaurant had opened up in my area. We do not have many good ones in Newark. The place is festive and large. The bar is large as well. Service was good and so was the food. We received complimentary chips and salsa upon arrival and the chips were good and the salsa was good as well. I got the veggie quesadilla, with beans and rice.
