    Burrito a la Mexicana

A hidden gem from the outside but the inside is amazing! Fun atmosphere & very welcoming staff. Service was prompt & food came out quickly. Food was SO fresh and yummy. We ordered the queso dip, steak fajitas, and burrito a la Mexicana. Portions were massive and we took a lot of food home for a super fair price. We will definitely be coming back!

Another great visit! Delicious food. Good service. We'll be back soon! The shrimp enchiladas were so good. All entrees were enjoyed.

Love coming to Taqueria Atexcac. It's my favorite local option for authentic Mexican food. The ambiance inside is great. The service is always friendly and customer service is great in both spanish and english. The house made tortilla chips are some of my favorites i've ever had! My go to's are the horchata agua fresca and quesabirrias.

This was a great find. A true hole in the wall. The outside is very deceiving. Uhaul trucks taking up a lot of the parking lot but once inside it packs a yummy punch. They even had a Tamarindo drink just like my mom would make it. I was skeptical of good Mexican in Delaware but they did not disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. The tacos, ceviche, sopes were great. If you're hungry the mixed fajita was massive. Yummy

The portions were HUGE! Definitely authentic. The furniture is impressive. You would never expect this place, next to a cellphone store, to be so delicious. Our server was sweet but we think there was a language barrier because she forgot a drink and never returned with our check. Overall, I would recommend and would go back.

This hole of the wall restaurant is adjacent to a grocery store. My friends and I almost missed the turn when we put the restaurant in our GPS. When we walked in I knew it was going to be good and authentic! The servers were very nice and explained any questions we had (never had cactus before!). I decided to go with a disk that was the normal Mexican fare. I forgot what it was called now but it's consisted of meats (bacon, chriozo, ham, chicken) and peppers with a glob of cheese on top. Omgg we got so much food! My dish was absolutely delish and came with warm tortillas. I also ordered a side of rice since it didn't come with it. Be warned if you order water they will give you a bottle of water and charge you for it (I guess you could ask for tap water too?). Had a great dinner in this hidden gem and it was great to support local businesses!

We got the Comal Mexicano, which is perfect for the two of us to make our own fajitas just the way we like. I dig the lime and onion whereas the Mrs. favors the tortillas and sour cream. We both agree the meats were cooked properly with a touch of seasoning for flavour. Flan was a very smooth texture, not gritty or lumpy, with a nice caramel sweetness. Friendly service made this a most enjoyable meal. Looking forward to exploring more of the menu in the future.

The food was just okay--nothing particularly flavorful or memorable, and some dishes seemed like they had been sitting out too long before being served. Service was also disappointing. It took quite a while for someone to take our order, and we had to ask multiple times for basic things like refills and utensils. The staff didn't seem very attentive or organized. The atmosphere itself was decent, but it couldn't make up for the slow service and lackluster food. Overall, not the worst place I've been to, but definitely not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit again.

We stopped in on a Tuesday evening and were seated right away. It wasn't busy when we arrived, and while it did start to fill up, there was never a wait. The restaurant itself was clean and casual, and they do serve alcohol (it looked like they have happy hour specials as well, though we didn't try any). They brought out complimentary chips and salsa to start, with a note on the menu that a second basket comes with a charge. One thing to be aware of: the chips are not made in a dedicated fryer, so they aren't gluten-free. Service was a bit of a mixed experience. There was definitely a language barrier, which made communication difficult at times--our questions often had to go through multiple staff members before we got an answer. Food came out pretty quickly, which we appreciated since we were in a rush. That said, there were some hits and misses. I ordered tacos al pastor but was given steak tacos instead. I tried to explain the mix-up, but it wasn't resolved, and due to time, I just ate them. Unfortunately, the steak was overcooked and tough, and the tacos themselves were very basic--just meat on a corn tortilla, with extras like sour cream costing more. On the plus side, my nephew really enjoyed his kids' cheese quesadilla and fries (the fries looked crispy and well-made). Someone in our group liked the chorizo quesadilla, and another had the birria tacos and thought they were just okay--nothing standout, especially compared to other places. Pricing felt a bit high for the portion size and overall quality. There is a small parking lot, but we didn't have trouble finding a spot, which is always a plus. Overall, Casa Mezcal was convenient and quick, but between the order mix-up, inconsistent food quality, and communication challenges, it didn't fully hit the mark for us. I'd consider giving it another try if I were in the area, but with adjusted expectations.

The salsa was the first thing tipping me off that we'd stumbled upon was likely a local gem. It's not so thick that I think it's a tomato paste concoction. Tastes like real home made from scratch salsa. Not too much but a very nice kick to it. Peppery, oniony, refreshing punch of lime. The queso hit everything I wanted and wasn't just plain cheese nor was it gritty or plastic-y. Tasted exactly like I expected! Smoky peppers did a lot for flavor here. I was sad not finding my regular burrito from this kinda of establishment. A simple beef burrito smothered in a red sauce of some variety with rice and beans. I asked the server if there was a smothered burrito and he informed me that the combo deal was what I was looking for. In which I got two burritos, rice and beans. The red sauce that my two burritos came smothered in was rich, tangy, oniony and was still nicely acidic from the tomato. You can really tell they taste their food. Burrito Loco that my accomplice ate was also really good. Maybe a little more salt on the veg but that's coming from someone notorious for over salting fries at work. I love salty food, so that's just a personal taste thing. The service was amazing. It all came together when I went into the bathroom, though. It was so clean that it snapped the whole picture together of why this place is so surprisingly good. It's staff genuinely cares about their place of work. Kitchen and front of house alike, everything here was impeccable. You can tell there are people here invested in their workplace. Highly recommend stopping in or frequenting if possible. They had a fun looking drink menu, I just forgot to order my agua fresca Jamaica, so I'm sorry to say I can't report on that.

So I opted not to go because I wanted to experience their atmosphere, customer service and food on a normal day of operation. Fast forward to the evening after Cinco de Mayo. I came in and I was kindly greeted, and since I was flying solo I went to the bartender was quick to greet me, got my chips and salsa to me (which is on the house), and took my drink order. The music was very festive on the inside, the wraparound bar is a nice touch, and the atmosphere overall definitely sets a vibe. I ordered some queso dip cause, why not and it paired nicely with the salsa. I then proceeded to order the Quesabirria Taco dish that was phenomenal and I HIGHLY recommend. The birria consommé that comes with it, it so good so dip those tacos like your tastebuds depend on it. To say the least I am glad I went there the day after Cinco de Mayo and while I'm sure it was a vibe itself, I don't think I would have quite gotten the service and experience I did when they are operating on a normal day. All good things in moderation I guess‍.
