The food was very good. It's a small chain restaurant located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. The inside feels like Mexico! The patio was also nice and felt secluded even though it was in a parking lot. The waitperson was friendly. The fish tacos were very good. They came with grilled tilapia which I prefer over fried. It came with 3 fairly big tacos and rice. The flavor was a little bland. The ground beef tacos came with 4 tacos and had much better flavor. Hey all! Im at it agaaaain- I'm visiting family and wanted nachos and found this place. What caught my attention is they had ground beef option and supreme nachos. I ordered on Uber that was fine, I called the place just to make sure everything is ok, they were friendly as well. Upon arrival, it was still warm, a little much on lettuce but the ground beef was what I was interested in. Unfortunately, I was disappointed, wasn't seasoned at all, I barely was able to get 1/4 of it down. Went on a weekend- which is probably not the time to go. Our waitress was overwhelmed with other tables, so service was limited. I ordered the fish tacos, very bland, on a flour taco, when I had asked for corn taco. Not well seasoned. Family ordered burritos which were good. Freshly made taco chips were terrific as well as the salsa.. Premium margarita came in large goblet and worth it. When ordering from this restaurant do not order the fish tacos order something else. It's a funny thing. I haven't been here in 7+ years because of living in San Antonio. Even then, this place was in a different location at the time. For my reunion stop I ordered a frozen margarita with chamoy and for lunch the Molé Queso burrito with steak. The burrito was huge but I felt like I should've gotten beans or rice as a side dish. I guess I should've read the menu closer. The mole sauce was kinda devoid of a kick or a sugar taste, but I thought it paired well with the queso. The steak inside was tender and just right. Went in for lunch on a weekday, were seated quickly for two. plenty of chips and salsa was good. Ordered breakfast burrito and Tecas enchiladas (both vegetarian). Not impressed at all with this Mexican restaurant. The guacamole is basically just smashed avocados. There is no seasoning of any sort in it. Plus mine had the stem piece in it. The refried beans are color less than flavorless. I got the mango salad with shredded chicken. The taste of the shredded chicken tasted like it was out of a can not fresh, the rest of it was good but I would never order anything with shredded chicken again. We got chicken tacos and by the time we got home a whole six minute drive they were completely soggy. They give no extra sauce of any sort and no sauce with my corn chips and guacamole or should I say mashed avocado? They offer Molé sauce on some items. I asked them if they made it fresh or if it was out of a jar. They said jar. The flan is not rich and creamy the way flan should be I found texture and flavor subpar. The horchata was definitely made with tap water and powder. The tortillas were horrible... it was soggy and wet and stale on the ends and couldn't bite through the edges. Man I really wanted to like this place: there isn't a lot of Mexican in Chadds Ford, and it seems like a family-run operation. Unlike other posters, we had a friendly experience with very good servers. Unfortunately our meal just wasn't great. Super bland fajitas. Undercooked ground beef burrito (the one thing your don't want in ground beef). Ceviche was all canned baby shrimp and octopus (to be fair that's on me: never order ceviche at a place if you don't know they do it well). I am guessing there are certain things on the menu they absolutely crush (salsa was good, for example). But none of our meals were among those. Great for casual dinners, and good for families. The bar side section is a good option if you want to be separate from children/if youre on a date night out but still want a table. It looks like it could be better for dinner or happy hour as they have a nice bar area.I really liked the chips and salsa , also the queso was very good. I had he chicken fajitas, tried the enchiladas and the mango shrimp salad. The shrimp salad was definitely the best choice, a nice portion of shrimp and also very tasty. The fajitas were a nice portion and lots of veggies but lacking seasoning and taste. Also a really skimpy side of pico and guacamole, maybe a teaspoon of guacamole...the chicken was also cut in thin slivers , most likely pre cooked as it was pretty tough. Enchiladas were nothing great and I wouldn't recommend them. All and all it was just ok and I was hoping for a little more and I probably wouldn't go back. Im positive there was no booze in at all. A waiter dropped it off after I ordered. The food came a good 15 minutes later. I did not see the waitress until I was eating the last bite. I wanted lemons. The original La Tolteca that was located in the Fairfax Shopping Center is most likely permanently closed because they relocated to the old Chilis building farther down the road on Route 202. This new location has way more parking and a much larger footprint. The inside is very well done and quite honestly a major upgrade from that typical Mexican themed decor that adorns almost every Mexican restaurant in Delaware. The new Toleteca is modern with dark woods, pendant lighting, comfortable booths and even high tops surrounding the bar area. The menu also had some updates (I think or perhaps I had not noticed before). My date had the Fajitas Hawaiano which came to him in a scooped out pineapple bowl and included shrimp, pineapple and beef. I had the Burrito Azteca. It was ginormous and very good. Definitely recommend if you are in the area. read more

So I don't know who. Ask for the Phillies game once and 15 minutes after whatever-her-name was (I might have known had she had ANY personality WHATSOEVER) who was theoretically "my server" came back. I asked again and she said someone would help out. 15 minutes later when I asked she tossed a remote (not the right one, mind you) on the bar and said "you can look". Fourth time I asked she obviously didn't I know I am bilingual (I'm a big goofy looking white guy) when she said (in Spanish) to her coworker "I'm a pain in the ass". I went to this place a while ago for a birthday. The atmosphere was ok, seems a bit tacky but lots of warm colors and lights. The music in the background is a bit cheesy though, and typical of an average American style Mexican food restaurant. The food is average, a cultureless limbo like every other Mexican food stylized to American taste buds. Nothing too special. I had a stuffed burrito which had decent flavor, but it also came with Mexican rice and black beans. Mexican rice is very hard to get right, and the flavor was just nothing special. The black beans had no texture whatsoever. At least they have margaritas. Alcohol is kinda strong, if you're a diehard tequila fan this is perfect. I would say come for just drinks, chips, salsa, and little stuff. There was quite a crowd between the managers/waiters/waitresses and some of, I'm assuming their friends, really having a blast at the bar area. I'd say don't spend over $30-$40. Overall a relaxed below average restaurant. Don't expect anything too special here. Save this place for a hangover or drink craving, not a special occasion. read more

I'm so excited to be able to write this update. After a few months of being in their new location, I feel that La Tolteca has worked out the bugs that I experienced on my first visit after the move. I've been there a few times and I've had nothing but exceptional service and delicious food. I was so excited today to find that they now offer a brunch menu on Saturday and Sunday. they have their normal menu but their brunch menu had one of my favorite foods of all time: chilaquiles! the menu offers that with a red sauce but I was so excited that they had no problems substituting that for Verde tomatillo sauce. the default option comes vegetarian which is right up my alley but you can add bacon for an additional cost. They also had horchata which I ordered as a drink and the two items together were really tasty. I'm not afraid to admit this publicly I ate every last bite of my meal and I even scraped the sauce and cheese mixture off the bowl with my fork because that good. if you haven't been back since right after the grand opening of the new location I highly recommend that you check it out. as I said I've been there multiple times since that one experience and I feel confident that La Tolteca is back! read more

No doubt 5 stars! This place is awesome! Amazing Mexican food! Went here with my wife and we grabbed the queso and the hot salsa. Absolutely delicious! The queso is spot on and the hot salsa is excellent! They both go well with the free chips and salsa that they give you! For dinner we both go the al trio which comes with 3 things. 1 burrito, 1 chalupa, and 1 enchilada. It also comes with beans and rice. Nothing much but great things to say about this dish! It's very filling and gets the job done perfectly. We recommend this place to anyone and everyone. It's satisfies that Mexican craving. Americanized or not, this is just the kind of "Mexican" food that I love!!! We usually go to the La Tolteca Express down the street, but I found myself closer to this location recently so my three loves of my life and I stopped in for a quick lunch. I had a really good chile relleno and taco combo that came with refried beans and plenty of toppings. My oldest daughter had the huevos con chorizo (eggs mixed with Mexican sausage and onions served with rice, beans and tortillas) and she enjoyed it. My middle daughter - a vegetarian - had her usual: the spinach enchiladas (two soft corn tortillas filled with spinach and cheese; covered with green tomatillo sauce and cheese, served with rice and beans). Sadly, my youngest didn't really enjoy the nachos that she ordered - there was nowhere near enough cheese, while they were overloaded with all the other toppings. Not enough cheese is a big no-no when it comes to nachos! Something also happened with her second Cherry Temple (it was made with plain water and the cherry juice) but we didn't bother sending it back because we getting ready to leave anyway. La Tolteca happily took this reservation, but judging by our waitress's attitude, they should have done us all a favor and told us to go somewhere else. Our waitress - a middle-aged woman with short curly hair and glasses - was shooting DAGGERS at our party the ENTIRE night. Every single time we asked for something, you felt like you were melting under her glare. When she came around at 8:20 for "last call" and we asked for a pitcher of margaritas, she looked furious. When she brought said pitcher over to our table, one of my friends was in the process of emptying the other pitcher out into everyone's glasses. She aggressively told him that the pitcher she was holding was heavy, rolled her eyes, and wanted him to move faster to get rid of the old one. I also watched a friend at the other end of the table ask 4 times for someone to remove an empty plate so he could fit his meal on the table. The food was fine. The experience was extremely uncomfortable. She was rude. Unpleasant. Miserable. Clearly wanted to be somewhere else. We were gone by 8:45, but you would have thought, by the dirty looks we were receiving on the way out, that we kept them there for hours. Don't take a reservation if you're going to be dicks to your patrons. We usually always tip over the included gratuity in the tab, but not this time. What a way to end 2017. read more

I placed an order online on a Sunday. It took 65 minutes before it was ready. And although I was waiting, most of the food was cold. The queso was warm, at least, and very good. Ordered fajitas and they didn't include tortillas. How is my son going to eat them? It was a huge bowl, at least. Also got carne asada, which was pretty good. Cold, but good. The pepper thing that came with it was pretty good. My wife got the taco salad, which she liked at lot. The chips were burnt and bitter, thankfully I had some chips at home for the queso.
