Having driven past this little place, I finally decided to give them a try. Honestly, not much to look at inside. But! The food is amazing. The first impression is how fresh everything is. Watching closely - which is easy with the tiny kitchen - my shrimp, and fish were cooked after I ordered, not yesterday. The condiments - hicama, cabage, cilantro, tomatoes, etc. had been expertly chopped into tiny, uniform dice. The mild sauce is very complex and nicely balanced. We walked out ... Ok, so this cannot be considered a complete nor a thorough review and therefore the two stars. We really love their ice cream store, which is why we decided to have dinner here first (We ended up down the road where we were very happy with our choice.). If the ice cream is delicious we rationalized ... then their traditional meals must be good too. First, a clarification is needed! Michoacána Grill is not a sit down restaurant where you can enjoy a meal with friends/family. There is no table service, which was noted in other reviews, but unless you are into eating in a room that looks like it needs a good mopping don't even consider sitting down or moving tables (We started to move tables to allow the six of us to sit together until we realized no ... NO ... NOT STAYING!). But, it wasn't the dining area that chased us away (Well. One of us is pregnant and was looking forward to a sit down meal after having walked around Longwood Gardens for a few hours.). It was the attitude behind the counter ... the glares and stares and basic unfriendliness directed at our group that included Millennials, baby boomers and one from "The Greatest Generation" who is in her mid-eighties. We all sensed it and talked about it after we left but especially the one woman behind the counter just glared as if we had stepped in natural fertilizer while at Longwood Garden. Now, the folks working there might not have expected that the pretty blonde pregnant lady picked up on their conversation but she is fluent in Spanish. Needless to say the words the rest of us didn't understand she comprehended each phrase that was spoken and later told us she almost responded in Spanish just to let them know that they need to be careful. Perhaps they have great taco's but we will never know. I would question the freshness that one reviewer noted because glancing at the grill area didn't lead me to think fresh but I didn't get to watch them bring out the meats, veggies, and other ingredients. So, we looked at each other in a moment of clarity for all. We nodded our heads towards the door from the very tight foyer and one by one we walked out the door. The lesson ... always welcome guests coming to buy your food with smiles and when you notice that one is pregnant and another in her mid-80's offer to set up the tables or provide seating or at the very least don't stare and glare. Thankfully we knew of a fantastic cantina down the road where the cook sings and the seating area allows a family of six to enjoy a meal with table service or counter service. Our walk out was rewarded with a truly delicious traditional Mexican meal. And, then we talked about our mistake knowing that we would be heading back to the delicious ice cream that the owners of this take out joint offer just a few blocks away. Can't believe it, having lived in Kennett square for over two years now, and this is today was my first time here. We brought the kids too, ordered two burritos and a salad bowl with fish. $37 not too bad for dinner for 4. Burritos we're very tasty and the Mrs. really enjoyed the salad bowl. Food: 4 stars. I really do like the food here and there ice cream shop. Service: 2 stars. I really feel like it has deteriorated over the 6 years I've been going here. I've been finding myself going less and less, just because they've just haven't been as friendly or nice. When I went last time, they ignored me for three minutes, despite there being nobody else in line. There was also three people in the service area. They were being stingy about the cheese in the burrito and only put half a tablespoon on the burrito, when I asked for a little extra, they charged $1.25 extra. I was like here we go again, because we've been finding taco places as we're running errands and we've been striking; we have yet to get really good tacos. I found Michoacana Grill and took a look at the food photos and rating on Yelp, looked good to me. My husband has the steak tacos and I had the shrimp tacos. They well exceeded my expectations! The tacos are SO GOOD!! We sat in the car and ate our tacos and my husband raved and raved about how good his tacos were. So, he went back in and ordered 3 more tacos with guacamole to go. And yes, the guacamole is just as good as the tacos! You can just eat that all by itself. Michoacana Grill is delicious! The fish and shrimp tacos are fresh, made to order and only available in an order of three. They also have chicken and beef options. The tacos themselves are cooked to perfection and there are a variety of toppings, which you individually choose. I do wish the workers were friendlier, as I did get some attitude from the cashier. However, the tacos were so good that I can't fairly rate the restaurant any differently. I have also previously had their quesadilla, which is super cheesy and delicious! My mom had a salad burrito bowl, which is similar to Chipotle-style, but tastier, fresher, and a larger portion! They also have ice cream available in a freezer from their sister store, La Michoacana Ice Cream (which is just down the street about a block away). To be honest, it isn't my absolute favorite place for tacos, but they are still delicious and have lots of other options for food. The quesadilla and the shrimp tacos are probably my favorite items. Stopped as a fluke on our way to Longwood Gardens. Parking was difficult at the normal places downtown. Pulled into Michoacana' sand wanted to be adventurous. I am so glad I did. I had two chicken tacos with corn and cheese and a small cheese quesadilla. OMG amazing! Best taco I have ever had. Two of us ate for $20. Small seating area if you ant to eat in. I was looking for a really good, truly authentic Mexican restaurant. Michoacana Grill (MG) had several outstanding reviews, especially for their fish tacos. So two days ago, I decided to try this place, and got the shrimp tacos. As I was waiting on my order, I was speaking with another customer, who was waiting on fish tacos, and she told me that MG was her and her children's favorite place for fish tacos. I must confess I was not disappointed. They were outstanding! They had a generous portion of shrimp, as well as the other toppings that go with it. In addition to that the prices have gone up numerous times...for example they charge $1.75 for the smallest scoop of guacamole ive ever seen. The wrap tasted stale and the lettuce was wilted.
