So yeah, La Delicia makes me think "delicious". Except not in reality. The counter person was not personable at all, shading towards unfriendly. As for the food: for starters, too much salt in their cooking. Salt should enhance and no more. They went a bit heavy. We had chicken, steak, carnitas, and lengua tacos The lengua was a bit tough and gamey. The carnitas was fine, wife disliked the chicken and steak was okay. There was also a burrito that should have been pork, but was chicken. The chicken tamale was not good at all, and went unfinished. We asked for both the red and green salsa, 2 small containers were provided. (picture enclosed) The red had decent spice, green was flavorful. Lastly was the grease....ye gods, was this greasy. Went here for early dinner and ordered a veggie sandwich(only beans) it came with fries and complimentary salsa and chips. Also, we got the pineapple juice. The sandwich was just ok nothing special and the salsa was the biggest disappointment since I was expecting nice chunky salsa and not the liquid sauce straight from the tin. I hope it not much of an ask spl in a Mexican restaurant. I wish the restaurant good luck but it's just not for us. I won't go back and instead eat at El Nopal much better! read more

Be aware... My family tried this restaurant for the first time today. We enjoyed our food but I'm giving a low rating for the service. The woman taking our order and checking us out added $10 to our bill without our knowledge/consent. When I caught the error I asked about the variance and she accused my two year old of breaking the napkin holder. She discussed the charge with the owner and returned with $10 in cash. Ordered burritos in the past Pre-Covid. $4 burrito is now $6. I didn't know when I placed order for pick up of 3 burritos. They charged me including a gratuity for a total of $18. Shady business, they didn't warn me or anything. They lost a loyal customer. Her answer was the price of chicken went up. So how come other restaurants and mom & pop places have not increased their prices... the receipt was as if I ordered from door dash or Grubhub for a simple call in advance for in restaurant pickup. Also the quality of the burrito was terrible and contents were falling out of the burrito. My family was totally disappointed. They told me I might as well have ordered from Taco Bell. The person behind the counter who took my order was so focused on the people behind me that when my order came out it was wrong. We should have walked out. We were treated like second-class citizens here. The middle-aged waitress treated us with disdain, snapping and raising her voice at us, whenever we asked for anything. The only time she was nice was when it was time for a tip. Then she was a peach. At first, we thought she might be having a bad day and gave her the benefit of the doubt. But then new customers came in that appeared to know her and she was an angel to them. I'm not sure how you can treat a family with such disrespect when you don't know them. We will NEVER be back. As for the food, it was nothing to write home about. The street tacos had very little meat and the red salsa for the tacos had a weird fermented taste. My coworker just stopped by my desk and asked where these astounding tacos came from, I offered her some of my guacamole and she almost passed out from the heavenly taste. My husband and I love this place. We are from the south and this is the closest thing to home we have been able to find. We absolutely love the mexican food. However, the service is usually awful and its not always the cleanest. Make sure to use disposable ustensils. The food makes up for the lousy service! I'm almost embarrassed to say I'm in here weekly. The food is really yummy and affordable. It's always fresh and the ladies who work here are a delight. I can appreciate the fact that they are bilingual because my Spanish sucks! The mild, green sauce is all of that and then some. It's always clean when I come in here too. This is one of the top three mexican spots in Delaware. Great tacos and salsa. Their beans are killer! Beans aren't my favorite and most of them taste the same to me --bland. I don't know what they put in them but they are freaking delightful! Customer service is fantastic, they are always pleasant and you can tell they love what they do. Almost left didn't know if there was wait staff. They are slow to present themselves. But worth the wait food is delicious and plenty of it. Guac comes w chips and is wonderful. We had casadias they were the best. Decor isnt great but not there for decor- could be updated but dont let that scare you away. Dress is very casual. read more

First time here and dining solo so not able to taste the whole range of the menu. But some signs show an attention to detail. A slice--half inch thick--of fresh avocado at the absolute peak of ripeness arrived as garnish on a bed of freshly shredded lettuce and a sizable dollop of real sour cream as accompaniment to the chicken tamale. The tamale was a bit overcooked and seemed to have bee fried in its banana leaf rather than steamed(?). The sides of rice and frijoles arrived on a single plate and the beans had a sprinkle of what tasted like grated Parmesan cheese--but rice and beans were both quite tasty. I come here for lunch as often as I reasonably can without going broke or getting fat. It'd be easy to do at La Delicia since I want to eat all the things. (Practically) everything I've had is top-notch and oh so delicious. I especially love the tortas and the tacos (Mexican style). There's just been a few misses from time to time, very few. That's why I'm not giving this place the full-five stars. And occasionally service is not "on point" or whatever restaurant lingo you want to use. But wow do they know how to season and cook Mexican food. I very much recommend this place. read more

Just discovered this new Mexican restaurant and so far I am quite impressed. The rice is delicious as are the refried beans. They have a really nice menu offering a large selection of Mexican favorites. Their lengua tacos were quite good as were their chuletas, carnitas and mixed fajitas. The location is a little weird, right in the gas station at the split between Loockerman and Forrest, but don't let that stop you. Definitely the best Mexican food I've had in Dover and quite frankly the best I've had in recent memory. Good Mexican food seems really hard to find. I hope that people discover their really good food and they can survive their rather strange location. read more

Great mexican food. I normally go to el napal but my friend told me some cooks moved from there to here. I decided to try it and was not disappointed. I had the chicken and beef fajitas with tortillas. They were awesome! My girl got three steak tacos and one lengua. She said they were very good. Add a bottle of coke and I was in heaven. read more

I'm in Dover usually once a week on business. I chanced upon this place after deciding that it had been too long since I'd had Mexican. Very pleasantly surprised! Lunch (to go) was really delicious - my favorite (I'm not very adventurous) is the Chicken Quesadilla lunch special. The quesadilla comes out perfect, just a little bit crunchy. Rice and beans (with some cheese) are good. Shredded lettuce with tomato and avocado slice plus sour cream are tasty. Only minor issue is that they won't give a receipt (I'm on business so need one), but I figure that's between them and the tax man. Best $5 lunch I've had in a long time.
