I give it 3 stars because I think I had too high of hopes going on and I was a little let down. The food was fine. I like the tostada the most. So the burrito was good, but if I did a blind taste test, I'm not sure if I could tell the difference between their burrito and Taco Bell's burrito supreme. But also, I am from California, and I have so many good options to choose from for Mexican food, and I thought this place would give me that Mexican food quench I needed. Almost. Their taco was good because they were like the street taco's I am used to, but were a little dry. I'm always used to some of the carne asada meat sauce getting onto my taco and making my tortilla a little softer and taco juicier. The tostada was good. Also, the burrito was good. I enjoyed it. But I thought I'd be getting some big burrito.. like a taco truck burrito. The burrito was only $5.50, so maybe I should have known. Outstanding Mexican food, they give you great fresh chips and salsa while you wait and them they bring out your food and it is delicious. Nothing fancy, you pay at the counter when you are done, but the least fancy Mexican places are often the most delicious. Kitschy Mexican decor hanging on the walls, great food, wonderful hole-in-the-wall joint in Dover. Would highly recommend to anyone who lives in the area or is passing through. First time coming here and unfortunately I was disappointed. I had ordered some birria tacos and when I had opened my order the size of the tacos are not worth $6. When we arrived (party of 2) there was no one in the restaurant. Two parties of 4 & 6 entered after us and were served and almost done before we received our food. The margaritas we first ordered didn't come until 10 minutes after our food. The pork, beef, and steak had absolutely no seasoning, extremely bland. One of our napkins was used with caked on mess. Service was terrible, food was terrible, and the $15 margaritas just tasted of very strong lime, I don't even think alcohol was in it. The ambience was nice, but that's it. Used to love this place. Started eating here a few years ago and there was a younger girl working the front of the house and a middle aged lady working the kitchen. Chips and salsa were plentiful, tacos were well made, meats were consistent and flavorful. It was great. Ate here again and was hoping it would be better than the last several times I have been in but it wasn't. Different staff (has been for a while) not as friendly. Small portion of chips and about two ounces of salsa (small bowl used to be almost full). Meats in the tacos were not as flavorful and plentiful as they used to be, even paying for extra meat did not fill them up. Cheese and sour cream not as plentiful as they used to be or distributed on the tacos, one small dollop. Also ordered 4 tacos and a burrito to go and asked for their green sauce to top them and got one two ounce container. It's sad now. I understand that cost are going up but if you as a restaurant can't make money at the prices you have listed on the menu then don't lower quantity or quality, raise your prices. Most customers will be willing to pay a higher price for a better product, if they aren't willing you don't need them as a customer any way. read more

If you've ever had authentic Mexican food you will be extremely disappointed by this location. We went there to try a couple of items just to get a sense for the place. We ordered two Asado tacos served Mexican style and one tamale. The tacos were greasy and had no flavor. The tamale was full of just Masa and of the meat I could find was tough, dry, flavorless. When you eat in they do bring you salsa and chips however the chips are so thick and are not seasoned and the salsa had no flavor. After we added in a whole bunch of red hot sauce it was much more palatable. The prices were reasonable and the storefront was cute but the food was a disappointment. read more

Just left El Nopal 2 in Dover,De. Best Mexican of all in Dover. We both had different fajitas and they were terrific. Both done perfectly. Served with rice and beans. If you've eaten at authentic Mexican food joints before, this place will definitely fall short. The chicken burrito was bland and tasted almost like Taco Bell! However the tacos (chicken and steak) were pretty good especially topped with guacamole, which I ordered as a side. If you do happen to stop by, I highly recommend the horchata drink! I found the cut up steak interesting; small cubes. Seemed like it was cut up to make it go further and appear plentiful. It had decent flavor. I did enjoy the onions and peppets mixed in, like a fajita. I took a bite of hubby's quesadilla and it was good, nothing spectacular. The salsa was very good! Just the right amount of heat! These were immediately brought out when we sat down. Sadly our waters took almost 10 minutes...I was done with the chips by then! (Had I known it was going to be bottled water, would've gotten it myself out of the cooler.) The portions were large, very filling. From my first taco i was hooked. Don't let the location or appearance from the outside stop you. Its more of a take out place but they have a few tables that are always clean if not occupied. Literally everything i have tried is my new favorite. The birria tacos are to die for! Get the rice and their green and red sauce and just put them on everything. You can't go wrong with this place!!
