Wow! I enjoyed this place. Ordered the guacamole, Al pastor tacos and the coma tacos. The guac was definitely the main event and bursting with flavor and freshness. The pineapple on the Al pastor tacos gave them a nice sweet touch. I am a sauce person so I do wish there was something other than the green sauce they offered. I had gotten a side salad with cilantro ranch and found myself putting that on my tacos and it did not disappoint! The coma tacos were underwhelming. The jalapeño poppers weren't turned all the way so the bacon wasn't fully cooked on the other side and the steak was flavorful but tough. This restaurant has a full bar, table service, and a few flat screen TVs mounted around the dining area. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean. It has a homey feel here. There is good spacing between tables. You aren't stuffed into a small area and forced to rub elbows with other patrons. I ordered the tacos chorizo, and it comes with 3 tacos, your choice of sides. We have passed this place a few times when we visit our son and finally tried it. He says it's so far the best Mexican food near him. We are from San Diego so it's hard to compare. I love the butterfly on the wall outside and we got there at a decent time and it was not busy. The waitress kept checking on us and was very nice. We took forever to order and she was fine with it. We ordered margaritas and 1 strawberry margarita. They were good. The salsa was very bland. Mostly tasted like tomato, no spice or heat. The food was good. When in to eat and only had a drink, I am Latino as soon I sat down I was asked for my ID at the bar, I sat near the door, and I got awful vibes from the lady bartender when she asked for my ID as she looked at me up and down, she did not care to ask me anything else, or even if I liked the Margarita, and I was the only person at the bar. Moreover, when I paid, she asked again to see the ID again, now even more rudely, she said to me that she wanted to make sure I was the owner of the business debit card I used to purchase an overpriced peach-flavor with a hint of tequila drink. Tl:dr this place is AMAZING!! Put it at the top of your list of restaurants to visit! Okay so we walked in around 7:45pm on a Monday: one elder, two adults, one teenager, and two toddlers. There was something for everyone--from the vegetarian to the carnivores! Because we came in late and close to quitting time, there were a few things on the menu that weren't an option. For example, I initially ordered the salmon tacos but the kitchen staff sent back the message that there was no more thawed salmon and thus that wasn't an option. My sis wanted to order one of the pineapple fajita dishes but there were also no pineapples. So go earlier in the day if you want something specific. We were both happy to tyy try other items on the menu. Everything was so good. It was the best birria taco I've ever tasted and the corn cake was so very delicious! I think my mom enjoyed her jackfruit tacos. The younger folks happily ate their meals as well. My toddlers split an order of chicken tenders and cheese quesadillas off the children's menu. The quesadillas were the favored item. Finally the three grown folks split a pitcher rather than each ordering a drink. We requested sugar in the rim instead of salt. Everything about these decisions were the right call. As a bonus, there were sooo many cute photo backdrops and the decor was bright and welcoming. Do NOT order the mole!!! It is too chocolate forward and sweet. Highly disappointing $20 meal. I only had half of the mole chicken enchilada and it feels like there's a brick in my stomach. Very nice decor, and cozy place to watch the game. A lot of high tops, and even big booths. Seating was very comfortable and spacious. It took us a while to get a seat it seemed to be packed. We even had a child and it wasn't to bad. They were limited on child booster seats, it was no biggie though. Once we did sit down, we sat at the booths right in front of the bar. It was nice to watch a game but, being at a bar/restaurant don't look forward to hearing it. The decor was nice and it was a good meal. The meal was tasty and plenty of it. Based on the reviews and how close it was to the AFB after we arrived late and hungry - we decided to try it. Was in town for the weekend to see the Dover NASCAR race this past weekend. Was out sightseeing on the only sunny day (Saturday) over the weekend. We got hungry and decided to swing into La Hacienda to check it out blindly without reading reviews. I had the Sizzling Salad with steak which was amazing!! My girlfriend had the Tres Tacos. She ordered Tacos De Carne Asada, Tacos Al Pastor, and the fish taco. It also came with a potato taco. She has lived in Southern California so her bar for Mexican food is set pretty high. She was pleasantly surprised, liked mostly everything except the pork taco because it had a sweet taste to it, but she even took her leftovers home! So, yesterday I was craving authentic Mexican food. However, I am new to the area and I'm not sure what is good, or not. I have a picky man-child that thinks "authentic" Mexican food is Taco Bell; Im not sure where I went wrong... So, I opted for delivery on GrubHub, and found La Hacienda...it has good ratings, and I decided to try. After looking at the menuTortilla soup, Mexican bean soup, the Excellente Plato (w/ refried beans, Mexican rice, and pineapple salsa), and Street Mango. The Excellente platter was 3 enchiladas (beef, chicken, and cheese) with 2 tacos (hard taco with beef and a soft taco with chicken). the mel was prepared neatly and offered a nice amount of food. Although the included rice portion was small, they provided plenty of toppings (packaged separately) and more than enough refried beans. Since I have no tolerance to spicy food, I requested that all items ordered were mild. They accommodated my request; although the pineapple salsa had some heat, it was a nice addition to the meal. When I shared my meal with my son, he was immediately converted to the authentic taste of the food. SHOCKING! It takes a lot for a 11 yr old to change from one fast food to a decent meal. He enjoyed the meal (including the soup) so much he asked to order again the next day. BRAVO La Hacienda! My only complaint, if that, is the street mango. This was my first time ordering and it was covered in a flavorful red sauce (not spicy), but I didn't care for it. Maybe sight, and taste, weren't working together for this item; or, I didnkt like the combination, but if I ever try it again, I would definitely request it without the sauce. They have the best margaritas around!! I love their food because it tells me that not all Mexican food is heavy and doused in cheese. Of course, too much cheese and big portions are an "Americanization" of ethnic foods. I haven't been in a while but the time I was there was for lunch with a beloved friend...it was a little cool, and during COVID-19 so we chose to sit outside. Not only did the wait staff accommodate us, but they didn't ignore us. I've eaten here several times now. I can tell you the margaritas are the best around and the chips and queso make a great happy hour. The tilapia tacos are amazing as well. That's where my applause stops. Tonight I had the veracruz tilapia. Fried tilapia over Texan mashed potatoes and Mexican street corn. The potatoes were cold and the fish was very dry. I asked for tartar sauce or mayo and they didn't understand me and offered hot sauce. I'd never had street corn before and it was very sweet but I think that's what it's supposed to taste like. Totally disappointed with this place tonight. Stopped by for dinner and the parking lot was being blacktopped. Had to park along the road and walk around to the front. Waited almost 40 minutes before a waitress came over. Took our order for appetizers and dinner and then we had to wait another 20 minutes to get our order. When we got it I was disappointed because my order was wrong. In retrospect I think we should have just left when the service was so slow. Just visiting the area for work. Food was better than expected, wouldn't have braved Mexican food in Delaware if it wasn't for cinco de mayo. It was cinco de mayo, so the place was packed. The search for good Mexican food in the Dover area brought us here, fingers crossed. It might not have been the best Mexican food I've ever had, but it is the best we've found in the area so far. We were in a time crunch and mentioned it to our waitress. She immediately steered us towards the fastest items on the menu (burritos, yay!) and then didn't flinch when we modified our orders just a bit (hold the dairy, please!) sure it enough, our plates arrived within five minutes, exactly as we'd asked. It was obvious that the kitchen is used to dealing with people who have to fit lunch into a busy day. I ordered the portobello fajita burrito which was amazingly filling. It was a bit bland, but I made good use of the Pico de Gallo and some hot sauce. I'll order it again, but might ask for extra onion and peppers. I loved the sweet corn cake that I had as a side. My men ordered the same burritos, but with chicken. They were happy with their choices. I know that we will return, as it is only 20 minutes south of downtown Dover.
