Huge disappointment! Yelp let me down I'm a hole in the wall enthusiast and was excited to try this small mom and pop restaurant only to be disappointed! Ordered Huevos Rancheros and it was just eggs no salsa on top or tortilla underneath like I was expecting. They said this is how they made it. U ordered over hard and has you can see with the yolk that wasn't the case. The eggs were extremely salty to the point I couldn't continue eating. The salsa they did serve me after requesting was delicious. The rice was good but my beans were ICE COLD! Like no heat to them. Could Have Been Better I wasn't too impressed during this visit. I ordered the three enchilada taco plate with chicken, cheese, and potato. The food was decent, but it lacked seasoning and overall flavor. Nothing was bad, just a bit underwhelming. They do offer a small buffet from 11 to 1, which I didn't try this time. I might come back to check that out and give the place another shot. Maybe it was just an off day in the kitchen. We were in the area and hungry, so we went here because of the Yelp reviews. It's a little dive looking from the outside but the interior was clean and the staff were friendly. We opted to eat there and sat outside. There seemed to be a lot of takeout happening, which was a good sign. I ordered the chilaquilles, my husband ordered a potato enchilada platter, one son ordered a ham breakfast burrito, and the other son ordered an al pastor quesadilla. Amazing tortillas. I live about 45 minutes from this place and will travel for the food. I had the chicken tacos (#4) and they were top notch. The salsa it came with was freakin amazing as well. I ordered the enchiladas with carne asada. The people here are very friendly and full of smiles. The service was prompt. The corn tortillas are pretty darn tasty. I ordered some Horchata and I am glad I did. The place is clean enough but pretty beat and full of flies. It is right across the street from a Vallarta Supermarket so there is no problem with obtaining the grocery. I just finished my meal with lots of food left on my plate. The food overall was poor. The enchiladas were dry and the cheese never melted. Overall a strong 2.5 stars. A three star rating is a bit of a reach. I brought the majority of my meal home in a box. La Fogata Is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Seriously, stop by and anything on the menu is authentic Mexican food. My favorite are the enchiladas. They are rolled up tortillas of your choice of meat, or cheese (I do half chicken, half cheese) and they are cooked in red sauce. So flavorful, so delicious, so filling! The rice and beans are just as delicious. They have humongous quesadillas (made with fresh homemade tortillas), Huaraches are also highly recommended. They offer a neat lunch buffet during the week which is cheap and convenient, very delicious. I do wish the service was a bit quicker, but it's locally family owned and everything is made to order so I can justify the wait time. You can call the order in ahead of time though, so that's a huge plus!! They do not serve alcohol, FYI! read more

What a find! I went to the DMV to take care of some business (if you live in the Antelope Valley, take advantage of this awesome DMV!) and stopped for lunch. I tried the buffet with was spectacular. Pollo caldo, the biggest chile relleno I've ever seen, ribs, rice, beans, guacamole, tacos papas, ensalada, macaroni (yes, macaroni), tortillas, etc.. It is a picture perfect mom and pop (although it was a mom and mom) operation. The food was delicious. The price? Under $10. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 is because Yelp should really have a 4.5 rating because only a handful of places should get a 5. If you are in Arvin, this is the place to eat. read more
