I was not impressed, was shocked it had more than four star review. The tacos were so small, the mild chili gave me heart burn and runny nose. So I think the chile actually was hot chile not mild. They gave my husband carne asada tacos and not arrachera. When we asked they said that what it was when we know it wasn't. We paid $100+ for dinner and had to take us to eat again after for something more to fill us. Which has never happened! I never leave reviews either.... But I was very disappointed. My tequila flight of four 1/2 shots were actually almost took by the bus boy because he thought they were empty ‍ that's bad. Sorry to leave this review but people work hard to take their family out, be better please. I feel like I totally wasted my money. read more

We had such a delicious meal!! Everything was very flavorful, and prepared well. The service was super friendly and attentive. The salsas, chilis, and other sauces were very good. The relleno bites were something I hadn't had before, and very good. The server explained to me it's New Mexican (not Mexica) food, so they don't have some of the traditional favorites and agua frescas, but there are plenty of tasty familiar dishes and dishes to be tried on the menu. We came in here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. As a reviewer, I'm always trying to find something new to try. The reviews were good so we took a chance. Upon entry, I liked the vibe. I wish we'd sat on the patio on such a nice day but we were seated in the dinning area. Our server was not attentive, seemed rushed (even though it was around 2pm so between lunch and dinner rush) and the place wasn't overly packed so I'm unsure why she acted like she had much more important things to do than her job. The chips and salsa were very good. Salsa is flavorful with a tiny kick. I wish the chips were warm, it would make them perfect. Our service was a little slow. I got a Gina-Rita, margarita made with Blue Moon, and it was delicious. I also ordered the Grilled Chicken lime tacos with beans. My hubby got the Mayan enchiladas. He said his was delicious. Mine was on the cold side. Although I did love the corn tortillas. Overall mine could've been more flavorful and they gave me super small pieces of Avocado. My hubby was disappointed that they didn't have Horchata. I was surprised they didn't. I would've given this review more stars if we'd had better service and if mine wasn't cold. read more

It came out sizzling hot and smoking. I ordered their August special which was a three chicken taco combo. It was very tasty and their rice was amazingly fluffy and flavorful. They were busy but I didn't come here to not have margs. Margs when we got them were a 4.5. Fajitas were a 3. My son said the burrito was a 5. Atmosphere was cool. I love me some good Mexican food.. This is Aztec l/Mayan food from the Yucatán area. A bit different then northern Mexico food. Don't get me wrong the food was good just a few personal things I did not care for. 1. House made chips were to salty. This takes away from the chip itself. 2. Not sure what is was about the salad but I did not care for it. (Red salsa that comes with chips) I ordered the Tacos Al Carbon.. they were really hot when they came out I had to wait a few mins so I did not burn my fingers. My cilantro and onions were served in the side... nice but they fingers were then covered in cilantro when I scooped it up to put on my tacos. LOVED the tacos came with guacamole. I could tell I got the beans and rice from the side of the warming tray because my rice was a little hard and my beans were dried and crusty in areas. I eat both tacos and called it a day. I waited with my plate pushed away and napkin and all utensils piled on my plate hoping that waiter would notice. I saw home walk by only once since I finished. I had to flag him down to get my check. I paid and left. No Thank you for coming in or how was the food. read more

If you don't want to wait for a table, another patron recommended to get here between 4-5:30 or so for dinner, or get on the wait list. Beware that the wait list is not reliable, at least not when we were there. Parking was easy to get in front of the building but there is plenty all around the building. Most people enter from the back of the building. This is where the intentional entrance is. It is easy to park in the front on Main Street and go down the stairs. The service was good for the most part. It was a 35 minute wait on a Wednesday evening around 6:30. This place is clearly a beloved family spot. The restaurant is in the basement of a larger building with a large outdoor patio. There were misters on the patio right by the front door. The wall air conditioning in the interior of restaurant was weak but you are in the basement so it wasn't too bad but note that it gets uncomfortably stuffy because they are packing a lot of people into the space. They offer complimentary chips & salsa, as well as refills. This isn't something you see often anymore. The salsa that accompanied the thoughtfully warmed chips was fairly mild but delicious. The food was good. I tried the fajitas. I didn't care for the seasoning on the steak or chicken, of which both were dry. I recommend trying something different off of the expansive menu. The green chile was good but not a standout. The guacamole and sour cream were very generous portions with the fajitas. The refritos were delicious and most certainly prepared with lard. The flour tortillas were soft. I will say, they are jockeying to get you to use a QR code to do the job of the wait person. Our wait person was absent and then measuredly showed up right after we paid via the app. She acted liked she didn't know but she had to be watching because she is responsible for collecting the payments. Why were we being tested? It was a quietly insulting gesture. Oh, and the default tip was set at 22%, including tax. We don't agree to the "suggested tip amounts" without figuring out the math since this is another swindle. We already did part of the waitperson's job and the restaurant raised menu prices so the tip is inherently raised. This left a pretty bad taste in our mouths but we got over it. Suggestive selling works on some people and that is what they are counting on. read more

Made a large order of burritos for customers around 6:00PM. It was a bit difficult to put the order in over the phone possibly due to the person taking the order being new? There was a significant amount of miscommunication. A few minutes later, I got a call saying that half the order will take an hour longer than the other. I told her that is completely fine but just make sure to not finish the quicker half and have it sit out cold. I was assured that would not happen. When we received our order, the quicker half was significantly colder than the other half, we didn't receive any utensils, and none of the containers were marked besides a couple of them. We've been going to La Es almost my entire life- or at least since we moved to Brighton in '93. Growing up, we'd go almost every Sunday after church, it was probably one of the first jobs my brother ever had, and even though I moved out of state 16+ years ago, I have to get my La Es fix when I come home. Tonight I couldn't believe how packed it was with a long wait- the secret must have finally gotten out, that it's the best Mexican food in Colorado. I savored the salsa that has been my favorite since childhood, and had my regular taco and cheese enchilada. Everything was so delicious, as it always have been, and it is such comfort food for me now. Over the years, the space has evolved, fresh murals on the walls, no more buffet set up right near the entrance, but the same great service, and delicious food. Came here on a Saturday night and the place was busy but we were able to get a seating for two pretty fast. The ambiance was nice. It felt like I was in a restaurant in Mexico. The service was good. Our waitress was really nice. We got the fajita quesadillas for appetizers and it was tasty but they had a lot of onion. I got the chicken tacos but the flavor was kind of bland. We found this place on the way home from the Wildlife Sanctuary and stopped for lunch around 3:30pm. It was a nice restaurant, In the front they had a sign about when the owners first started their business, and there were shelves of homemade salsas. I loved the warm tortilla chips (got three baskets) and the salsa was good - I wish a little less runny. My dad got a grande burrito and it was absolutely massive! For myself I got the red, green and white enchilada plate. All of the sauces were really tasty! Chicken was a little dry and ended up bringing the relleno home for leftovers. La Estrellita has become a go-to when I find myself hungry in Brighton. So much so that I have taken two of my fellow Yelpers there. Why you ask? Lemme break it down for you: ++ After noshing on both the stuffed sopapillas and the enchilladas I can say that both are delicious! I think I prefer the stuffed sopapillas, but not by much. The complimentary chips and salsa are delicious and def set the stage perfectly for the main event. ++ La Estrellita is located in the basement of a building, but you'd never know if it wasn't for the lack of windows in the main dinning room. There is ton of exposed brick and the booths are all super cozy. ++ The service is always super friendly and quite attentive. ++ Portions are large and prices are on point! I always leave with leftovers for my husband. Who has yet to venture out for a meal there with me, but I'll be taking him there one of these days. While Brighton is not often on my dinning list - La Estrellita is. I know I will be back. read more

One of our favorite Mexican restaurants. Inside has been redone and it looks great. Food is exceptional. Presentation is nice and portions are large. Soice comes from mild to hot depending on your choice I believe it is the only one because it seems there is always management around. Drinks are reasonable and great flavors. Super disappointing visit and normally I love this place We sat for 20-25 mins before our order was even taken on a Monday evening. Food didn't come for another 20 mins and we only ordered 2 dishes and 2 sodas. Then we got a refill on waters and the cup smelled like bleach, very clearly bleach. The server smelled it and confirmed. Spoke to the manager and she said "sometimes the city water just tastes like that, you guys are good though" like what? So then we told her we'd also been waiting an hour and had barely got our food, she said "well the ticket times are coming out at 20 minutes so you guys are good?" She was nice but there was 0 sincerity or apology for the literal bleach in our cup. Like maybe it wasn't rinsed all the way or something I'm not sure. Also, no one else's water at the table smelled/tasted that way. So I called on the way home to really try to explain why we were upset and she doubled down again saying it was the city water and nothing is their fault. Idk, zero accountability and sincerity just made the visit awful. Offered us a $15 credit to come back but will definitely not be visiting again. read more
