    My wife became an instant fan of Anne-Sophie Pic. Her restaurant is so beautiful. The Baccarat water glass was amazing. Another restaurant worth giving another Michelin star. Every dish that came out from her tasting menu was exquisitely sublime and delicious. Service was top notch. Very attentive staff. Warm and friendly. This is a place worth returning to in the future. Worth every Euro!!!

    We were in Paris during venison season so we did a tasting menu. They gave us three different menus to choose from each with a scent, like vanilla, flowers or amber. We did the amber menu, which was the venison. As the menus change around, I will not go through each dish. Let me instead describe La Dame De Pic. This is a relative new place, having only opened two months ago (we were there in Nov '12.) Michelin has not yet rated it, but the owners are hopeful for a two star rating. I am not sure the service level will warrant that, but I am confident it will get a one star. It is very near the NW corner of the Louvre, just north two blocks. Be sure you make reservations and expect the tasting menu to go for around four hours. Make your reservations much in advance, but if you are tourist (as we were) then you can accept very early reservations (we accepted 7:00) and then just ask to pace the meal. I will say the wine list was incredible. Champagne by the glass was expensive to start the meal ($45/glass) but was a 1990 vintage rose that was just sublime. My only complaint was that the deer dish was slow roasted and overcooked (which is really rare in Paris, usually items are cooked half a grade beneath US.) I attempted to send mine back and they said they could not recook it because it had been slow cooked. Why they couldn't give me another piece that was less cooked, I don't know. Probably because they new were American and therefore assumed we had little chance to feedback to the Parisian market. Nevertheless were it not for this event, I would give lDdP a five star.

    Our last night in Paris dinner. Recommended by my friend. Great ambience and attentive service. Clean and modern decor. They made the men's restroom very convenient on the same same dinner floor. Women is down stairs. There were three menus. Autumn. Floral. Aromatic. We chose floral and aromatic The meal comes with two starters off the menu. Peanut marshmallows and beet mousse. I ordered floral. Oyster dish was great flavor and a cheese mousse. Kinda salty for me. But it that umami salt that want you to have more Fish with a red and orange sauce. I assume beets. Very moist fish and acidic floral sauce. The fish had one scale that I bit into. So be careful Chicken with potatoes and shellfish.love it!! The shellfish provided a umami flavor to the chicken interesting technique. Chinese herbal soups do that with albalone. 3 cheese with marmalade and whisky jelly the marmalade compliments the sharper cheese. The whisky helps cut the pungent cheese. The third cheese tastes like a Brie. My dessert ended with a fig saffron dish. My partner had the aromatic. A cheese green dumpling that hard to describe. Very exotic. Like a spinach ravioli kicked up many times A meaty white fish with celery sauce. And finally lamb a jus. His dessert was a chocolate raspberry dish. Pictures will do them justice.     The food here was really bizarre. I love great food and Michelin rates spots. I didn't have a bad meal in France (except this one). Ultimately while everything was gorgeously played, the flavors were horribly off. Every thing tasted under cooked. The amuse bouche tasted like black tea with cooked carrots in it. The monk fish was dry and unevenly cooked. The staff wasn't attentive. I went to so many fantastic restaurants this week for a quarter of the price. I wish I could get my date his money back! The wall art was nice.

However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.

You can also get it with salmon. My brothers and I only saw my mother use our gas range to light her cigarettes, sanitize needles to remove our splinters, and make s'mores during the summer months when she couldn't muster the energy to take us 'outside camping.' I mean, all she had to do was borrow a cookbook, which I'm sure were readily available from maybe a neighbor or in any local bookstore or the public library. How hard is that? I was the only kid who brought a can of tuna and his own monogrammed can opener to school every day. Every day. And mom convinced me that the tuna holster she got me for my birthday was cool and hip. I was a naive mercury-filled fool, although I did become a very fast runner in junior high school because of the tuna holster. The interior décor of Bistro des Augustins is informal and vintage bistro style - wooden tables, traditional chalkboard menus, and soft lighting - creating a relaxed and comfy ambiance.
