I ordered two cakes for my daughter's birthday via e-mail and the experience was a positive one…read more I sent her photos of what I would like and she executed them well. The flavor selection was decent. I opted for celebration and vanilla. The vanilla was so moist. The design of the cake turned out nicely. I wanted the cakes to be delivered and they were delivered earlier than expected. What a surprise. Thank you!!

I requested a pastel, whimsical, tea design cake and sent reference photos. What I received was bold, watermelon-like colors that completely clashed with my child's party theme and on top of that, a milestone 5th birthday. I was also only told after ordering and paying that Sunday pickup isn't normally allowed -- forcing me to pick up the cake at 8am the morning of the party. That policy should be disclosed upfront. We had to change plans in order to accomodate this request she unprofessionally sprung onto us. I emailed with photos and respectful feedback and received no response. Not even an acknowledgment. As a business owner, I would have been ashamed of this! The cake tasted fine, but the communication and customer care were terrible. I would not trust this bakery for an important event, ever! Please save yourself the trouble and thank me later ... i would give this review zero stars if I could.

Had a phenomenal experience visiting Sweet Lily Bakery! Don't be deceived by the name though, Sweet…read moreLily is so much more than a bakery. In addition to their expertly-crafted pastries, Sweet Lily offers a great variety of French dishes and packaged food items. My group ordered the Sugar Beignet, Raspberry Croissant, and Coffee Croissant - which were all wonderful. The Raspberry Croissant had a not-too-sour fresh jelly filling and was definitely the crowd favorite, but the thick, latte-flavored filling in the Coffee Croissant made it a close second place. The fresh-squeezed orange juice at $5 felt like an absolute bargain, and the Cappuccino was also well-executed. The real stars of the show were the entrees, though. Both the Avocado Toast plate and Croque Monsieur truly tasted like a trip to France. They were hearty and full of flavor, without feeling too heavy. The Sweet Lily twist on Avocado Toast includes melted mozzarella and slices grapes, which really elevated the dish! The potatoes and salads that came as complimentary sides were a welcome surprise, and just as craveable as the entrees themselves. I truly don't think there's a bad thing to order here, and I look forward to returning to this bright and welcoming spot to try more!

Been wanting to try this place for a while and my son said he did as well, so we made a lunch date…read moreout of it today. It's kind of off the beaten path, where Ventura becomes Cahuenga. Near Barham and on the way to Hollywood. They have a few metered parking spots out front, but I went in and asked if they had their own parking and Mehdi told me they had a couple of spots in the alley behind the building, so that's where we parked. It's a cute place, not too fancy. They refer to it as a Boutique Pastry Shop. There are some snacks/knick knacks available for purchase, along with a refrigerator of drinks towards the back. The left side of the space is the coffee bar and the right side has the pastry cases and food menus. This is where we placed our order with Mehdi, who was pleasant, nice and knowledgeable about the menu and all the pastry items. I was talking to another employee, Gabriel, and asking him questions about the omelettes. He talked me through a few different options and he was also pleasant and kind. I decided on the Veggie Omelette (add mozzarella +$2, and side baguette +$1) with a Decaf Latte (+$0.75 for Oat Milk). My son ordered the Chicken Caprese Panini, which came with Pesto and Mozzarella Cheese. ($17). We also wanted to sample some pastries and we got 1 Nutella Beignet ($5.50), 1 Caribbean & 1 Red Carpet ($8 each), 1 Pear/Almond Tart and 1 Raspberry Tart ($6.50 each). Our total for everything including tip was $91.59, and I'm still kind of in shock over it! This place was SO EXPENSIVE!! Mehdi plated our pastries for us and Gabriel immediately got to work on the omelette and panini. We sat down at one of their many tables and got situated while we waited for the food. It was pretty empty as we were there around 3pm, an hour before they closed. There were two other tables being occupied while we were there. They had nice pop music playing, ranging from 90s-00s songs and artists. There were some nice twinkly lights above us along with the regular lighting of the restaurant. The space was also very clean, but I noticed some wear and tear on the tables/chairs. Once Mehdi brought our food out, we got to eating. My omelette also came with a small side salad with balsamic vinaigrette and some potatoes. I think everything tasted good, especially the omelette, but the potatoes were a bit too greasy for my taste. I also think the portion size was too small for the price. This statement goes for everything we ordered. It was all extremely overpriced for the portions they're offering. My son said his panini was just mediocre and bland. He opened it and added a bunch of salt to it. It was also very skimpy on the chicken, about 4-5 tiny slices inside. Moving onto the pastries, the Pear/Almond was my favorite. It wasn't overly sweet (actually, none of the pastries were), which is what I prefer. It was very delicate and tasty. I also had a bite of the Caribbean which was delicious. They went well with my latte, which tasted very good. I will be trying the rest later. My son had a bite of everything and liked the Caribbean and the Nutella Beignet, saying the rest were just average. I didn't use the restroom but my son did and said it was spotless clean, stocked with toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and room spray. The trash was empty, floors and counters were clean. They have one men's and one women's restroom and it's spacious. They began closing down the place about 5 minutes after we finished our bites and nibbling. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience by any means, but I don't think I'll be rushing here anytime soon to try it again. It was just outrageously expensive for what it was. I understand the cost of ingredients, labor, etc it takes to produce pastries and viennoiserie, but I just don't think the quality matched the prices. Just my opinion. I would say the service was great, both Gabriel and Mehdi are great employees! I may or may not come back. We'll see.

I pride myself on being a terrific and creative gift-giver especially for birthdays. It is a…read morespecial super skill I have where I can find a rare item that someone has desired their entire life or have the foresight to know what a person needs before they even know it, themselves. I just love to make people feel special! My boyfriend's 41st birthday was quickly approaching and I had the idea to supplement his gifts with life themed cookies: those royal icing decorated cookies that are the rage at events in the vein of a cookie per life moment or characteristic of my boyfriend (who is a twin, by the way!). I wanted to 'shop local' and reached out in one of my neighborhood Facebook groups looking for an artisan, local baker/bakery who does this sort of thing. Receiving a few responses, it was The Sugar'd Whisk that stood out and I immediately knew I had to hire Lexi, the owner/operator/baker/decorator. The Sugar'd Whisk is a cookie and cake company that you would see on those competition shows on Food Network or Netflix creating the most gorgeous and elevated or charming and delightfully decorated cookies and cakes for events, birthdays, weddings, baby and wedding showers, gender reveals, grad parties and just about whatever! Lexi is amazingly skilled and is up to date with the most modern trends or classic styles. Just browse her gallery of work and you will be blown away. There is nothing she can't do. I contacted The Sugar'd Whisk per her website where you can fill out an inquiry form (please AT LEAST 2 weeks ahead - I did a month prior to my boyfriend's birthday!) and decided on a dozen cookies where you can choose 3 -4 designs ($60 but $80 for my order because I received more designs). This wasn't necessarily what I had in mind because I wanted a cookie per life event but I addressed in the form that I am willing to meet in middle, pay more, etc. Lexi personally texted me immediately and then proceeded to set up a phone meeting in which we discussed the idea and themes and she even agreed to up the number of designs if possible while doing research on the decorated images I preferred. The Sugar'd Whisk kept me in loop regarding research and her timeline (Lexi is a very busy lady with customers and that is no surprise!) and texted back and forth about ideas and was very patient to find a way to make me happy. The next step was an email proposal agreement contract and my payment which I made through Zelle. When the day arrived to pick up the cookies from The Sugar'd Whisk; I met Lexi outside her apartment building (She bakes from home which is even more impressive that she can do this outside of a commercial kitchen!) and she was all smiles and super friendly. I was absolutely blown away by the cookies! Perfection is an understatement! Not only were they exactly the images I wanted but the icing work was beautiful and artistically talented! The Sugar'd Whisk is amazing and worth every cent! My boyfriend and I went away for the weekend for his birthday and I set up the cookies for him to wake up to and The Sugar'd Whisk (and me for having the idea) knocked the ball out of the park like Shohei Ohtani! He said this was one of, if not THE, best and most personalized gift he has ever received and he too was amazed by the skill of The Sugar'd Whisk! This is a huge compliment as he is a creative and artist by profession. But that isn't the end of the wonderful experience. We still have to discuss the taste! These cookies are THICK so I was slightly worried they would be either too sweet or too bland and flour-y but no! The Sugar'd Whisk has the perfect recipe of not-to-sweet and not too powdery cookies with a blend of tasting like a sugar cookie and butter cookie. My boyfriend was in love with them and even I, who is Celiac and can't consume gluten, couldn't keep myself from eating some of these delicious cookies! The Sugar'd Whisk is an absolute win in every category: local business, customer service, talented decoration, flavor and price (they are priced lower than some of the competitors while being much more upscale!). I will without a doubt return to The Sugar'd Whisk for my cake and cookie needs and recommend it for anyone and everyone!
