a birthday cake with a candle
    Parthvi P.

Donna was amazing to communicate with. She went back and forth with me even tho I kept changing what I wanted for the cake. She was very patient and was able to create the cake I wanted in my budget. I was worried that the cake itself won't taste as good, but I was shocked how amazing the cake tasted. The buttercream wasn't as sweet and the chocolate cake was soo delicious. Even in times of a pandemic she helped my out and everyone enjoyed the cake. Highly recommend.

    Apple pie macaroon - delicious!

After finishing brunch down the street, a couple of friends and I were looking for something sweet. Having passed this place on our walk to brunch, we decided to try it out. With a hefty assortment of sweets and warm and cold beverages, Delicious Arts is a little boutique dessert shop with a beautiful display and a few tables and chairs. We tried several of their mini cupcakes - red velvet and banana - and an apple pie macaron. I'm not a fan of macarons usually but this one was excellent. It really captured the flavor of apple pie, which is one of my favorite desserts. When I'm off of my brief healthy eating stint, I'll have to return to this place to try the homemade oreos, more cupcakes and macarons.

    Homemade Oreos
    Howie C.

Homemade Oreos to die for!!! But it's really about the cakes. There's a new bakery in the Culver City/Century City area and it's a gem. It's a little hard to find (there's no wall signage, look for the curb sign). If you are in the area, stop in to get the Oreos. I wanted to eat 7 or 8 of them like I do with regular Oreos, but after three of them I was stuffed. That's fine, that means I have snacks for the office for the next week. Two tightly packed, chocolate hard cookie shells with either plain cream or mint cream (Mint Oreos!). I liked the density of the cookie, but what really stood out what that I could taste the salt in the cookie shell. I know, you're saying, "What???" It's not a salty cookie at all, there's just this wisp of a salt linger that plays out at the end that blends with the sweet cream perfectly. There are so many tempting little things here... Red Velvet Cupcakes Brown Butter Cake with Vanilla Buttercream Cupcakes Vanilla Cream Puffs Chocolate Chip Cookies Peanut Butter Cookies Green Tea Butter Cookies Macarons (the French kind) They are still tinkering with different and new offerings so the list will probably change. They use Intelligentsia Coffee and have a La Marzocco so you can get a legit cup a joe or a shot of espresso. I talked with Chef Donna and the most interesting fact to me is that her passion is for making cakes, which is the primary reason for opening the store. She had been baking cakes at home and she started getting numerous big projects and complex orders. If you want to impress someone with a themed cake, Delicious Arts does amazing work. Some of the designs I've seen included a Ferrari, a Christian Louboutin Shoe, a Chanel theme, a Louis Vuitton Suitcase. Not a photo of them on a flat sheet, it's a 3D sculpture. When I was there I could see that behind the counter she was working on some designs for her cakes that week. There were all these flowers and I could not tell the difference between the candied flower and the real thing (see photos). The detail on the flowers and seashells is intricate and stunning. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised after seeing her schooling. Chef Donna went to a four year university, then decided she wanted to bake, so she got schooled at Le Cordon Bleu, the French Culinary Institute in New York and even landed one of those rare, prized internships at the French Laundry in Yountville (they no longer have an internship program!) under the tutelage of Thomas Keller. I will be going in for the bakery items, but if you want a work of art that doubles as a cake, Delicious Arts is that gallery of sweet art.

2nd absolutely stunning cake for my mom's birthday!! Thanks so very much. The detail was incredible and the roses look so real. We still have the crown from the last cake. Boy does sugar last a long time!!

Expectations vs reality! Apparently not the cake I asked for and his legs broke while driving on transport...

I pre-ordered a cake on 10/21 to be picked up 12/11 for my 30th birthday. I really liked the almost life size version of the cake with the age and a question mark on his long nose due to lying of age hence 29? When I'm really 30. I thought that was cute. I knew that the Pinocchio cake I was asking for as advertised on their Yelp page would take some time to make and I believe it was more than enough time. I requested the Pinocchio cake featured in their pictures and even stated that in our email correspondence with Donna. Me: "I'm interested in the Pinocchio cake the one advertised on your Yelp page." Donna: "And for the pinocchio cake, it was extremely large, and it was about 3' tall. Would you want a smaller version of it? A Pinoccio fondant figure cake is $650 - $850, final price depends on what goes on the rest of the cake. Me: "Covid-19 restrictions on gatherings has reduced the number of guests attending my party. Would it be possible to make a smaller Pinocchio cake for 15 people at a lower cost? Can you do the same design but a little smaller?" Donna: "The cake design had a figurines on top of the cake, which starts at $550+. Would you like to simplify the design to lower the price? And what price range are you looking for?" Me: "Hi Donna it's ok keep it the SAME then I want Pinocchio" I ended up paying $600 for a cake that I did not ask for. Donna did not send pictures of the process or final cake image to confirm with me that that's the cake I wanted. When I went to pick it up they barely let me inside and threw the cake at me. I walked away and realized that the cake was NOT AT ALL what I asked for. I walked back and told them and they said that the bigger Pinocchio cake is a $5000 cake and that I had requested a figurine. First of all, I said I wanted to keep the cake the SAME! And Donna should've specified that a figurine cake would not be the same cake. I had even asked if they could take it back and do it again but the owners did not agree to it. So then I asked if they could at least change the nose on the Pinocchio figurine that they gave me because he had a freaking regular nose... no age with a question mark. After waiting awhile, she changed the nose to a branch. I asked where is the "29 ?" I wait again for some time for her to come out with a freakin toothpick and a circle cutout piece of paper of the number 29 without a question mark. Donna and the other owner did not seem to care about how important this cake was to me, and were unbelievably rude. The cake that I got was no where worth $600. I could've gotten that made for me somewhere else for under $100. I don't recommend them. Highly unfortunate to remember as a birthday cake that I boasted about to my friends and family and showed them expectations vs reality. Everyone was like "wow you got jipped, get your money back. That's so bad!" Wish I could've left a somewhat positive review, but their service utterly sucked and customer satisfaction means nothing to them. I drove very far to get this cake and went all that way thinking I would get high quality! It turned out to be the complete opposite, buyers beware. Expectations vs reality! Apparently not the cake I asked for and his legs broke while driving on transport...not too long after I picked up the cake!

My baby shower "Paris" theme! Thanks Donna!
    Iris R.

The best pastry chef in LA area! After numerous searches for a custom cake and dessert table for my baby shower, Delicious Arts stood out the most! Donna always listened to my exact vision and always delivers exceptional masterpiece cakes and desserts! Her prices are also very affordable and finished products are always meticulous. She is such a talented sweetheart and such a joy to work with. It's been 2 years since my first baby shower and I had been going to her since! If you're looking for the best custom Cake/Dessert table for your special occasion, you've found the right place!

The 5-star reviews are real. This bakery is a gem, delivering top-notch cakes, pastries and coffee without any pretense. Delicious Arts is run by a pair of talented and down-to-earth siblings, Donna and Jack. I come in weekly, sometimes more, and have nothing but admiration and respect for the work they have put into this place since it opened at the start of 2015. This is a boutique bakery that offers a simple menu of pastries and baked goods, including some vegan and gluten-free options. One of my favorite items here are their mini cupcakes... you can't go wrong with any flavor, but if I had to choose my personal favorite, it would be the *almond cake with coffee buttercream*. The frosting here is smooth as silk, the cakes are flavorful and not dry, and overall, the cupcakes are not too sweet for being what they are (desserts!). Donna uses fresh and quality ingredients in her baking, and it's evident after just one bite of these cupcakes! Another go-to choice here are their *homemade oreos*, as other yelpers have raved about too! I order these items at pretty much every visit, and I've just found that over time, this place puts out excellent and consistent quality! Last month, I was lucky enough to attend a Macaron Class here, run by Donna and her pastry chef friend, Jennifer Smith from Napa Valley. It was an intimate, hands-on baking class where they shared their tips and tricks in the Delicious Arts kitchen. It was fun, informative and I can't wait to attend more classes as they roll them out in the coming months! Lastly, Donna makes gorgeous and jaw-dropping custom cakes and I can't wait to place an order for one someday! I'm super picky with cakes for the parties I throw, but can already tell I won't be disappointed with a Delicious Arts cake. Just take a look at Donna's cake gallery and portfolio... Delicious Arts is aptly named!

Most beautiful and delicious cake ever! Great, fast communication! Thank you for making my little one's first birthday so memorable !

Their work is truly spectacular, and their craftsmanship is worth the cost. I came to my appointment with a few online inspiration cakes, combining elements from each cake to create the perfect Beatles' Mania themed cake. The cake was a showstopper, their expertise and attention to detail exceeded my expectations and really took the concept to the next level. If you need a cake with real wow-factor AND delicious taste, this is the only place to go in the city! That being said, our two-tiered, 80+ serving cake did cost a pretty penny but the taste and looks were worth it!

My experience with Delicious Arts was truly wonderful. Jack worked so patiently with me as I presented ideas for two birthday cakes. (Pictures are posted here... you won't believe your eyes!) Not only did Donna, Jack and Nicole make incredibly jaw dropping spectacular works of art, which were absolutely scrumptious and made with organic ingredients, they graciously coordinated delivery to our dinner behind the scenes, making the birthday surprises a seamless event. I am so thrilled a bakery of this caliber and with this level of artistry is in Los Angeles. We have a treasure in this team. I could not recommend Delicious Arts highly enough!

    Plain croissants and cupcakes.
    H. M.

One of the best croissants I've had in LA. Yum! And yes, I do judge bakeries by the quality of their croissants. The cupcakes are also very good. The icing is perfectly smooth, not sugary grainy like most places, and not overly sweet either. The shop is tiny, and street parking is hit and miss. But the quality is top notch. Love it.

Seems simple right? Ralph's on Bundy said they don't have a decorator. Ralph's on Olympic said their cake machine is broken. Susie Cakes said they couldn't make a cake from cupcakes. Cakes.com took the order and then sent a cancellation email 2 days later. So, going to yelp and seeing so many good reviews for Star Bakery we tried them. Walking in the place doesn't look like much, it's kinda small in front and not fancy. I told them what I wanted and they said "no problem". Really friendly person helping us at the counter and then a really helpful decorator who refined the order via text messages the next day. They gave me a price which I thought was very high but I admit I don't really know what these things should cost. All I know is it was quite a bit more than Cakes.com who cancelled my order via email so I'll never try to use them again. (Or Ralph's for that matter) Here is the best part: The end result not only looked better than I had anticipated but the quality and taste was incredible. Honestly the best tasting cupcakes I've ever had. And it wasn't just me who said how good they were; everyone at the birthday party loved them. The whole experience with Star Bakery was an epic success and I am so delighted they are in my neighborhood. Finally, I should mention Star isn't expensive across the board. They had some beautiful looking tarts in the refrigerated case that were very reasonably priced. Anyway, the cupcakes, I got a standard for a pack with chocolate, strawberry, mint chocolate, and red velvet. To me, these cupcakes seemed even smaller than the standard mini size but maybe I was just already a little butt hurt that I caved on my promise to myself not to fall into the mini fad. I have to say, the highlight of these has got to be the frosting. The strawberry and the chocolate frosting were exceptionally delicious. I would probably buy the frosting by itself if I could. A real home run there and I was definitely wishing that I had A full-size cupcake to enjoy the full-size frosting. The cakes themselves were nothing to write home about, but that could also be because it is nearly impossible to get more than two bites out of a mini cupcake, so maybe I just didn't get a chance to really experience it. All in all, these were pretty solid, and I will definitely return for that frosting alone. Unfortunately, I cannot give this place five stars because again, mini cupcakes are a total rip off. For four of them I paid almost $10. Four minis equal about a regular-size cupcake which on average is $4 or less. It would be more realistic for them to sell them at two dollars apiece, or a dollar per bite.
