Eleana deserves every 5 star review she receives. The woman is truly an artist. She executed my vision for a birthday cake based on RuPaul's Drag Race Snatch Game exceptionally. I had 3D figures made separately and provided them to Ele Makes Cakes - she made me an Oreo cake with Nutella mousse filling as the base cake and made the "desks" out of Rice Krispies treats. She even made a backdrop out of fondant. Everyone was amazed by the cake. Would definitely use her services again. read more

Ele was so professional and kind. She made the process extremely easy. Cake was delicious. I ended up commissioning a 3 tier cake for my daughter's 14th birthday. She was able to replicate a cake I saw on Pinterest and make it better. It came out really nice and was truly amazing. Everyone loved it. I highly recommend. (I'm also 6 hrs away) email back and forth made me nervous because we both have kids and with kids, we email at night. Surprisingly, she was patient and great to work with. Wow...I don't know where to begin! My girlfriend recommended Ele. She was so great to work with. She answered my numerous questions and provided me with suggestions to find the perfect cake for my mother-in-law's 100th birthday celebration. We chose a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and chocolate mousse. (Ele's recommendation). The cake was moist, flavorful and rich! The perfect touch of chocolate! We all enjoyed the cake. This is a long overdue review. Eleana is so freaking talented, not just the look of the cake but the taste as well, so flavorful, so moist + she has so many different fillings to choose from its hard to decide. Not only that, but her prices are so reasonable. She made my baby shower cake about a year ago. We got a two tier cake, i wanted a teddy bear with a mask on.. because covid lol and she exceeded my expectations. Top tier: vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and pastry cream Bottom tier: oreo cake with 2 layers of banana, 1 layer of fresh strawberries and nutella mousse. Both were a hit! Everyone loved the cake. This year shes making my sons first birthday cake and I am so excited to see how it turns out, i just know shes gonna kill it! read more

This review is long overdue. I had wanted to get a cake for someone back in 2016, but I was late to put in the order. I made sure to put an request in early the second time. Elena and her team does take 5-6 business days to respond to every email so you have to be very patient. The communication was seamless though. I had sent Elena a few pictures and ideas on what I wanted the cake to be. She had me choose the cake flavor and fillings. I chose chocolate cake with ganache filling. There was a 50% deposit and the other 50% was due at pickup. This cake was for 10-15 people and was $175. It's not only important to have an amazing looking cake, but the taste is also very important. Elena did not disappoint! The cake was very moist, fluffy, and had the right amount of sweetness. Everyone loved the cake! Especially the birthday girl. She was wowed by how closely the cake represented her and she loved the ganache filling. *I would suggest booking as early as two months* *Have someone hold the cake in the car as the cake was not stable in the box* I highly recommend Elena for all your custom cake needs! read more

The Best Cake Ever! I have heard many great things of Ela and all are true. Not only are the cakes better than all the other places I have tried, the cake designs are very intricate and unique. Her cake is pricy but it's worth the delicious cake and design you are getting in return. Ela is very talented and professional on anything there is to know about cake. She was a contestant for Cake War on the Food Network a few years ago. So that is a good testament that you are working with only the best baker in the country. Just note that Ela is quite busy and typically responds to email within 5 days. I would have preferred to have a faster response time, but she's quite busy in the kitchen. I didn't mind at the end because she's just that good. With that said, if you do want to work with Ela, please give yourself at least 5 months in advance to ensure proper time is allocated for communication and also she books up quick. I highly recommend getting a cake consultation for a free cake tasting before you make a final decision. She will offer different cake (White cake, chocolate cake, carrot, strawberry, red velvet cake) and creams (Cream, pastry, cream cheese, red jam, strawberries, ganache, nutella, chocolate cream). I went to see her for my wedding cake. After trying out her cakes, I was immediately sold! The cake was super moist and the cream were not too sweet. All the cake were so good that it was so hard to decide. In the end, we ended up picking the red velvet cake with cream cheese and the white cake with cream. The day of the wedding, Ela delivered on time and the cake turned out exactly like how it appeared on the picture i provided. My wedding cake turned out perfect and it was darn declious. All my guests enjoyed the cake and it was definitely a hit! Thanks Ela for making my wedding memorable. You are the best at what you do and it was a pleasure working with you. I'll be back for more cake. read more

Ele is an Angel! I found her on my favorite website, Yelp. I reached out for a tasting. Ele was very accommodating and was able to prepare a tasting for me within a couple days. When my friend and I arrived at her store, everything was already organized and laid out. The layout was similar to a deconstructed fashion. She had the cake, the fillings and the toppings all separate. My biggest issue with Ele was narrowing down my cake selections. There is something very special about the way she makes her cakes. They are so good and I don't even like cake like that. Ele gave me ample opportunities to change the flavors and design. Communication was a breeze. In between placing my order and my wedding, my bridesmaids ordered a cake for my bachelorette weekend. Also so amazing! I can't stand chocolate but I love her Oreo cake. Simply amazing. On my wedding day, the cake arrive right on time and was even more beautiful that I could have ever imagined. Ele will be creating all my cake forever! read more

Perfect cake for our sailing themed baby shower over a year ago. The cake looked amazing, but more importantly tasted GREAT! You get a varied list of amazing flavors to choose from and I think you can't go wrong. Even guests who weren't sweets people loved it and were surprised by how good it was. YELP 2000!!! Ele Makes AWESOME Cakes!!! I have had many of Ele's cakes at different parties throughout the years but this was my first time ordering my own. Her cake designs are one of the best you can find in SGV/LA. You can all the different cakes she makes on her IG. She also competed on Cupcake Wars many years ago. I initiated the ordering processes about 5 months ahead of the date I needed it. Everything was done through email. 2 tier cake was way more then enough for 70 people. We used one of her prior designs because it matched our theme perfectly. She gives you pricing for the cake, the custom displays, and the additional decorations so you know how much each piece for your cake costs. Most of her cakes are wrapped with fondant and her displays and decorations are made with fondant and other edible desserts. Flavors - They have many cake flavors and many frosting flavors. You can mix and match to your flavor profile. Bottom Tier - Red Velvet w/ Cream Cheese. I have had this combo of hers many time. The cake itself is great but I always find the cream cheese super sweet. She will not make it less sweet, I asked. Top Tier - Oreo Cake w/ Peanut Butter Mousse. This cake was probably one of my favorite cakes I have ever had. The combo was a little weird but it worked so perfectly and it was not overly sweet. So good, people kept asking for seconds. Even one of our guests ordered this exact combo for their party a few weeks later. Decorations were so amazing that you do not even want to take it apart. Top notch decorating and designs. It was beyond everything we expect and more. Cutting the cake is a little difficult. There are many many pegs keeping the cake together. You have to remember to pull them out as you cut. For first birthdays, she offers free smash cakes. They match up to your cakes design. They were so perfect and matched up perfectly. The cake is a vanilla pound cake. The kiddos loved it. Tip, either warm up the fondant so its super soft or peel it off, they could not break through the thick layer. Once you finalize your design and cake flavors, you pay half then and half on pick up. I will not list her pricing because each cake is different, but I feel like the price was perfect for what we ordered. You can message me if you want to know. Pick up for Saturday parties are Saturday mornings in DTLA. I could not have asked for a better cake for my twins first birthday. Everything was perfect and tasted amazing!!! Thank you for everything Eleana!!! We will defiantly be ordering from you again!!! read more

Loved everything!!! I ordered a cake for my boyfriend's birthday about 2 months in advance. Ashley and Eleana reply to the emails in about 3 to 5 days average and are very thorough with explanation and confirmations of requests. My cake came out exactly how I had asked for it to be made per my design description. Everyone loved it and the best thing about Elemakescakes is that their cakes are delicious too. Usually, beautifully crafted cakes are not tasty and are more for aesthetic purposes but Eleana really is talented in both areas. I highly recommend the vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and pastry cream flavor. Payment is via check or PayPal only and 50% is required upon order placing and the remaining is required before pick-up date. Thank you for making this celebration memorable and delicious. I have recommended your business to so many and will definitely reach out again soon. read more

Eleana made all the deserts for my wedding. Cake, cupcakes, and cake pops. Everything was absolutely wonderful! The cake was a two tiered cake- 1st tier: Vanilla with pastry cream and strawberries 2nd tier: Chocolate with nutella and bananas. The cake was MOIST and delicious. The chocolate layer was a BIG HIT!! A new favorite. Cupcakes were red velvet and oreo flavored. Both were to die for! Same goes for the strawberry cake pops. The design process definitely does take some time, because she is so busy with orders. But be patient, she will definitely get back to you. Ele baked the most beautiful and the most delicious wedding cake for us. After a couple of easy email exchanges and a home tasting (our availability for in person tasting was not compatible with her schedule), we arrived at a three tier vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and pastry cream with grey ombre fondant ribbons. As a bonus, the 6/8/10" three tier cake and 1/2 sheet we ordered were very competitively priced. The cake was delivered with zero complication to our venue. It was more beautiful than I had imagined! I've ordered cakes with Eleana previously and each time I am so impressed with how beautiful and amazing the cakes are. The first cake I ordered was a double tiered PB jelly banana street fighter cake for my fiancee, that everyone loved. She is thoughtful with her design and artfully crafts each one to not only match what you want, but also makes the cake look fantastic and aesthetically balanced. Recently, I asked for a Chanel purse cake, pearls, and a French Rose, which turned out better than I had ever imagined. Eleana is always considerate of my requests for alternative colors or flavors but also very smart in keeping true to themes. I had asked for a red and gold purse to match the birthday girls bright personality. Even with the slightly ostentatious colors and deviation from Chanel's iconic black and white, Eleana had managed to keep the cake classic, sophisticated, and still noticeably Chanel. It came out SO Gorgeous! I'm amazed that she is versatile in different themes and styles, from Video games to high Fashion Brands, whimsical to realistic, she consistently creates beautiful cakes and just nails it. I ordered a surprise cake for my Aunt on her 5?th birthday, who refused to cut into it since she loved it so much. After a million photos, and a handful of people from the restaurant asking her if the purse on top was real, who the cake maker was, and double checking again if the purse on top was cake or not, my aunt dug into the red velvet, fresh strawberry and raspberry filling, and was stunned at how delicious and moist it was, not overly sweet, a perfect cake. Diners, valet, and hostesses at the restaurant were so impressed with this cake, they wanted the cake makers contact. We had people come up to us just to say how brilliant it is. What I loved most was how happy it made my -hard to impress (only the finer things in life type )- aunt when the cake was brought in. The look her face had was priceless, and she was smiling so bright. Thank you Eleana for providing such a wonderful gift! I would order countless cakes with Eleana for her incredible talent and I always look forward to ordering the next one. I've checked around with other cake designers in the area and they are double+ her price. Order with her, you will be so impressed! Although these cakes meant to be eaten, it will be something people will never forget. :) read more

I came to ele by word from a friend. I wanted to get naughty cupcakes for a bachelorette party I was going to. So, obviously I ordered a dozen cupcakes with, yes, penises on them. When I saw them not only did they look awesome, but the detail was so amazing for each cupcake!!!!!! And when I mean detailed, I'm saying there was stuff coming out the tips, of the penis, ok well you get the picture. I know it sounds ridiculous, but this was a bachelorette party so dirty cupcakes were just called for. EVERYONE WAS SURPRISED WHEN I REVEALED THEM! Anywho, not only did they look great, they tasted amazing. Just the fact that she has Nutella on her list made me happy. They were rich and full of flavor. This is long overdue, but I feel like I want to add my two cents about Elemakescakes! Ordering: I emailed her and although she put out a disclaimer about giving her 3-4 days to reply, she actually responded within a day or two which was great. I emailed her with an idea and she was able to give me suggestions on the design as well as cake flavor combinations. She made everything very easy on the customer in my opinion and gave me an estimate that did not cost me an arm and leg for. F.Y.I: If you are interested in putting in a order, the business email to contact Eleana at is elemakescakes@gmail.com and it is recommended to put in your order 3-4 weeks in advance! Taste: From what I remembered, I ordered a vanilla cake with nutella cream and strawberries. The cake was super moist and the nutella cream was not extremely sweet which I loved because I hate desserts that are super sweet. Everyone who tasted it was extremely satisfied and kept asking where I got the cake from.. it was THAT GOOD! Design: Since my cousin loves Olaf, I specifically requested for an Olaf to be apart of the cake. Eleana made Olaf into a cake topper and decorated the rest of the cake with sugar ice shards and snowflakes. Although the end result looked more like a Christmas/ Winter themed cake instead of the birthday cake, I have no complaints because everyone was distracted by how pretty it looked! Final Verdict: If I ever need to order another custom made cake, she is my go-to gal! read more
