I was pleased with this spot. Again, beautiful location on a corner with tons of outdoor seating. We ordered a burger and fruit crepe. The burger was incredible. The French took something that is uniquely American and improved it. I tried to eat slowly, but it was just too good. Came with perfectly fried frites and a side salad. I would've licked my plate if I thought I could get away with it. My daughter got the crepe. It was smack-yo-mama good. Only down side were the prices. Holy lord, this place was crazy expensive. La Coupe d'Or had a great corner spot in the heart of the Vendome district near the Louvre. Yes it's a tourist spot and overpriced, but the food is delicious, we had the best Croque during our trip there, and it was clean and roomy inside. We ordered off the snack menu but soon realized their portions are huge and should've ordered less. My husband ordered the Croque Madame which had the best version of it our entire trip. The bread was thinly sliced, buttery, crisp from frying it in the pan. It had a thin layer of cheese and ham inside with a thin layer of sauce on the outside and a beautifully fried egg on top. It was served with a generous side salad with a simple vinaigrette. I ordered off the cheese menu and asked for the Camembert which had generous slices and a side salad. I also added a side of fries which could've fed 5 people. They were piping hot, perfectly salted and delicious dipped in mayo. Bread comes with every meal, so I used that to spread my cheese on it as well as slathered it in butter. Overall, it was a very pleasant lunch and I'd recommend it. read more

The best croque monsieur I have ever had. So many places in Paris skimp or omit all together the béchamel in croques. Not this place. This is, quite literally, my first meal in Paris every visit. Airport, hotel, drop luggage, uber to La Coupe d'Or. And it's from there that my vacation begins. read more

La Coupe d'Or was a nice spot for lunch on my birthday. I ordered croque madame, my friend ordered a burger, and we got escargot. The prices were a little higher than some other places we've been, but the food was really good. Our waiter was named Francois, and he was very good. When my friend asked for cheese on her burger, he told her that it was not possible and that the ingredients of the burger made it so that cheese was not necessary. He was right. The interior of this restaurant was nice as well. We sat at a bistro table with chairs, but it was also possible to sit on a sofa with a table in front of you. All told, we had a nice time, and the food was good! read more

Went to La Coupe d'Or for lunch as it was in the Place Vendome area and was located on a street somewhat away from the primary tourist path. Upon entering the restaurant I was quickly greeted and seated inside, but right by the open doors to the sidewalk which was ideal as I got the fresh air without the foot traffic by my table. The restaurant had a modest selection of lunch plates and luckily one of the specials for the day was salmon tartare which is exactly was I was looking for. The salmon was a decent sized portion and was accompanied by a small salad and French fries. The salad was nice and the fries nicely cooked. The salmon was prepared well and had a few fish eggs on top for good measure. I had a Perrier with my meal and finished with an espresso of course. Service was efficient and delivered in true French style and as such never felt rushed to leave the restaurant. I would certainly return on a future visit to the area. read more

Cannot even begin to say how many times I have eaten here in the past 20 years, but it seems I have never written a review Its a standard brasserie / resto; two of the waiters have been there forever (the third, who always served us, has upped & offed to the USA & married his US girlfriend - congratulations but shame - one of the other 2 is going to text to say we dropped by) The food is always reliable and is a full range from a ham omelette (with great chips), good salads to something more substantial. Its not too expensive, given where it is Ok I see the bad reviews posted here...and OK we speak fluent French, but having eaten here at least 100 times, since I used to work close by, I can say that I haven't witnessed poor or rude service; yes there are plenty of tourists, mostly but not only American, but there are also plenty of local workers eating here at least lunchtime - and there are plenty of local type restos they could otherwise go to (Rubis, Au Bon Coin...). Its usually full, word would get around fast if they behaved consistently like that Anyway, we like it! ps - OMG, what happened? The waiters told us. Colette (diagonally opposite) - gone, or "permanently closed" says Google. Apparently warned in July last, closed December 20th, possible opening February 2018, but no. How many presents have we bought here, both large and small, cheap & cheerful and eye-wateringly expensive over the years - and then gone to eat here...often the other way round, found something, went to eat here to decide if it was affordable or not, then back and purchased anyway. Perched on an ideal corner for people watching, this is a no fuss cafe with an array of salads, sandwiches and snacks. A casual lunch for two including a glass of champagne was 50euros. Service was friendly. The Niçoise salad was solid with roasted vegetables, hard boiled eggs and canned tuna. The croque madam was everything it should be-rich and cheesy on my favorite pôlaine bread. As with many restaurants in Paris, La Coupe d'Or has a great location, mediocre food and high prices. It would be great if they tried harder but I expect there is little incentive with strong tourist trade (no need to rely on repeat business). That being said, atmosphere was good, location was convenient and most will ignore the prices because they are only there for a special occasion or vacation. read more

We found this restaurant while walking by and read the menu. Good variety and seating was available. Great service; we were seated with menus and had water within 3 minutes. The faux-steak on the special menu was tender and delicious. Fries were at the right temperature and complimented with a salad. It came quickly. We were so happy to have great food and service. Adorable venue and although we were warmly greeted, as the restaurant filled for lunch service, it all started to go wrong. My friend's Croque Monsieur arrived 25 minutes before my veal and my daughter's hamburger. The burger arrived 5 minutes after the veal was served, and had a very strange cheese on it, which had seeped into the meat and turned claggy. My veal, which I was assured came with a sauce, had no sauce. When I asked for the missing sauce, a bearnaise arrived - not what I was expecting. Much Better Choices Nearby We had a light dinner on an early evening in December 2014. My husband ordered smoked salmon which he said was fine. The salmon was not at all attractively served and came only with two pieces of what appeared to be sandwich bread. I ordered a raspberry torte which turned out to be a 'cookie' with whatever fruit the customer ordered placed around the edge and whipped cream on top. My wife and I stopped in here for dinner at around 8 pm. I loved the restaurant's decor- it was more modern and chic with an outdoor seating area (we opted for an inside table however). The waiter was very courteous, attentive, and spoke excellent English. I ordered beef and my wife ended up ordering the linguine with meat sauce. My beef was cooked to order and was accompanied by a delicious romaine lettuce salad with French fries. The fries didn't appear to be made in-house, but they were good nonetheless. My wife's linguine was delicious, however the meat sauce was not a culinary masterpiece. The pricing of this restaurant was far below what we had been seeing over the last week in restaurants in the same area (I paid 19 Euro for steak and 14 Euro for the pasta- compared to the paying roughly 24+ Euros for chicken at other area restaurants... so I would say it was really good). The clientele was a mixture of Americans and French locals, which also made me feel better about eating there. In particular, my favorite part of this restaurant was the attentive service combined with the general feeling that they weren't out to screw me out of my money. They brought water in a carafe (probably tap) which they did not charge me for (everywhere else they automatically bring you a glass bottle of Evian and happily charge you 8 Euros) and I had no issues after drinking it (this is France not Mexico afterall). After telling the waiter it was our first time in Paris, he explained that tipping is included in the check (before I paid). I tipped him just for clarifying that, and for his friendly and hospitable manner throughout our meal. Overall, this place wasn't trailblazing... But it was clean, the staff was polite/honest and the food was really good for the cost of the meal. I would and may eat here again before I leave Paris. read more

Their suggestions regarding the menu and drinks were absolutely on point. We had the evening's special, filet of sole with mushroom sauce and rice, and vegetarian salad. Worst restaurant I've ever been to. Would give them a rating of zero stars if it was allowed. I went with my partner to this restaurant this evening. I ordered the cheese plate. It was to come with Camembert cheese and Emmental cheese. My partner ordered the steak. First off when two people are dining together you don't bring out the food for one person only and not the other person you bring out both person's meals at the same time. The incompetent waiter brings my order out and serves me but doesn't bring out my partners meal. Mine was wrong. He didn't bring out any Emmental on the plate only Camembert with a pack of butter. I pointed out right away that the Emmental was not on the plate. He just ignored me and walked away. He didn't even bring a basket of bread or cracked either. What was supposed to do eat the cheese just like that and eat the butter with my fingers? He never ever brought out the Emmental or bread to eat it with. I asked again only to be completely ignored once again. I timed it. I gave him a few more minutes to acknowledge me and get the order right. Finally I said to my partner who was now eating his steak I'll see you back at the hotel. I got up threw my napkin on the untouched Camembert and walked out. This was the worst service ever. They couldn't even get a cheese plate right that contained only 2 cheeses in the first place. Completely ignored the problem and served no bread or crackers to go with the cheese plate. They should be out or business. Never ever eat at this restaurant unless you enjoy the kind of terrible and mentally incompetent service I received as described above. read more
