I was…read morelooking for a spot near our hotel that had beef tartare and that was not a tourist trap and I found La Comète, which looked pretty legit. Unfortunately, it was too early for the tartare as they only serve that during lunch/dinner hours. So we ordered an onion soup, a dozen snails, and a cheese plate. The onion soup was really good. The cheese was nice and melty and slightly charred in some spots. I shared this with my husband but I probably could have eaten two of these on my own. The snails were great as well. But I feel like 12 is a little too much for two people, but 6 wouldn't be enough. For the cheese plate, I don't remember what was on it but I remember not liking the harder cheeses and really liking the gorgonzola. I wish we found out about this place sooner so we could have tried a proper meal. If anyone gets a chance to try the beef tartare, let me know!

I have been going to Schum almost once a week for the last 6 months, and usually for lunch. They always have selection of three a plats du jour. No matter what I've ordered, it was always good. Fish. Steak. Duck. All good and all nice portions. You will not walk out hungry. My favorite is that with the plat du jour, you can order a café (thé) gourmand (café or tea plus 3 mini desserts - usually come with a financier, a type of mousse, and a créme brulée). The cost for the main dish and dessert is 17€. Can't beat it. The main server/bartender is very nice and his helper/server is also cordial. I recommend that you come when they first start serving lunch, so you beat the crowd. Once the crowd is there, the service slows down quite a bit. So if you don't come early, be prepared to be there to stay at least 1,5 hours for lunch.

Our server Amrane showed us the best way to de-shell the escargot, as it was our 1st time, and we were pleasantly surprised how much we loved them. The French onion soup was good, but didn't have caramelized onions, so it didn't have the depth of flavor that was expected. The duck confit with crispy potatoes was perfection on a plate! The meat was so tender, the potatoes were so crisp, and both were so flavorful. Oh and the marinated olives they brought out with the baguette basket were soooo good!
