Burrito Mexicano with Carne Asada
Adam H.

This is a small local place that I've been wanting to try for a long time. They have plenty of parking, but there are always cars at this restaurant. The ambiance is lively with music playing. I was there to get an order to go. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The woman who took my order told me upfront that she spoke very little English. However, she was able to successfully take my order and it was exactly what I wanted. I ordered the Mexicano burrito with the meat changed to carne asada. It was good and full of flavor with a bit of heat from the salsas that topped it. The cheese dip and chips were great and did not disappoint. This is a great little place that primarily caters to the neighborhood. There are other items I hope to try on my next visits.

Fun little hole in the wall that has good food for an even better price. I got three cheese enchiladas with rice and beans to go so I could eat at home. Absolutely delicious. My only concern would have been translation problems (my Spanish sucks and some restaurants in my area don't speak much English) but that turned out to be absolutely no problem because there was at least one native English speaker. Completely kind people and the food was made quickly and deliciously. Go check it out!

Very new. The dining area was recently remodeled and immaculately clean. It's a large dining area. I was one of only 2 customers from about 12:30 to 1:00pm. The men's room was very very clean, recently remodeled. But it was not a professional remodeling job, which is sort of typical at this style of Mexican restaurants. So that sort of stood in contrast to the impressive dining area. (Impressive in relation to what you normally expect at small authentic Mexican places.) There were two large screen tv's in the dining area. There was an all electronic touch-screen juke box on the wall, with mostly, but not entirely, Spanish-language music. $.50 per single play. Waitress spoke English well. The plastic-encased menu is bi-lingual. The chips and salsa served up front were excellent. My chicken salad was EXCELLENT! Juicy grilled chicken breast strips served on very fresh shredded lettuce with fresh tomatoes and really good avocados. I ordered a side of guacamole which was also excellent. They serve beer (and maybe wine, but not sure.) The beer signage was minimal, so it's family friendly. This place will probably not last long because of the bad location. But if you're reading this, trust me, if you've got a hankerin' for Mexican food, this is definitely worth the 8 block drive here if you are otherwise travelling along West 38th, or Lafayette Road, or High School Road, or Georgetown, or West 16th or Crawfordsville Road. Man, I love discovering places like this. I hope the Indy 500 or Brickyard 400 traffic is enough to sustain them.

a table and chairs in a restaurant

Place was empty (& I mean EMPTY) when I was there, which was about 3pm on a Monday. When I walked in I was greeted by a male server (in Spanish), and when he realized I didn't speak Spanish, he asked me, "for here or to-go?". I chuckled and said, "Here, please". He seated me and I ordered a beverage. He asked me if I was ready to order like 30 seconds later and I replied that I needed a couple more minutes, and asked if I could get some chips & salsa. Not more than 2 minutes later he returned with chips & salsa, & asked if I was ready to order. I ordered the chicken nachos. When he brought the food out, he asked if I was finished with the chips & salsa lol. I asked him kindly if he could leave them. Bathrooms were ok. While I was there, two other customers entered the restaurant. The server asked if they knew what they wanted to order within 30 seconds of seating them. He definitely needs some guidance & finesse. With good service, this place could be amazing. Without it, customers will be driven away. These things aside, the food was really good. It was ready within a reasonable amount of time & was very fresh & tasty. The music level was perfect (barely audible). The server definitely needs some guidance.

Seafood tower

There was a decent variety of food options to try, with seafood being their specialty. I ordered this up which had a mix of mussels, clams, crab legs, scallops, calamari and lobster. It was steaming hot and cooked in a hot sauce that was very tasty, though some might find it really spicy. It's quite filling (like 1 1/2 lbs of seafood shelled) and definitely worth trying other options. The food is authentic and also they had karaoke not sure if it's every night

We were seated in their outdoor area where the heaters were not turned on and the day had been rainy and cold so most of the table was cold throughout our meal. The service was a bit slow but it being cinco de mayo, we understood that things may move a little slower than any other day. They had some specials for the day but I got my old faithful, Maria's Enchiladas with steak. It comes with rice and beans and it's just so so soooo good!!! I also got the Arroyo Margarita which was good but def could tell they were adding a bit more sour mix to the drink. Overall, it was a good experience but I will try to come back again on a day that is not as busy.

Even with the rush, I was able to snag a seat quite quickly. I was so impressed by how efficiently the staff cleared and prepared my table; it's those little touches of attentiveness that really make a difference. I decided to keep things classic and ordered the Asada Tacos. The service was remarkably swift my order arrived in under ten minutes, which is exactly the kind of efficiency I adore. While the initial presentation was a bit more understated than I anticipated, the flavor was a total 8/10 triumph! The staff was also incredibly accommodating when it came to my preferences; they brought over a lovely selection of chips and sauces, but were perfectly gracious when I mentioned I prefer to avoid the heat. These are truly some of the best tacos I've had the pleasure of trying lately. I will most certainly be a regular here!

You have to buy a basket of chips, but it's very inexpensive and so worth it for the salsa bar! Lastly, the Al pastor is the bomb. The restaurant is sleek and has a cool vibe, but we immediately realized it was not going to be what we thought of when we saw "street tacos" mentioned during Google search. It's more of a metropolitan American Soul fusion place, with a heavy emphasis on loaded, uniquely flavored tacos instead of traditional Mexicana. The server was wonderful in explaining their menu and gave multiple recommendations, which I went with all of her great suggestions once I told her what I was craving. My husband didn't enjoy his appetizer, saying it tasted too sweet instead of savory for him, but the server was great at being aware of our plates and took the appetizer off our bill when she noticed he wasn't eating it without us even mentioning it. I got three different tacos, and the only one I didn't enjoy was due to the Mac n cheese that was stuffed in it. It just didn't taste or feel right having a taco with macaroni that was pushed in so densely that it became a sponge. The other two were great! My husband gave his burrito a 3/5, as he felt it was too much one note. Overall, don't come here if you're looking for upscale Mexicana, but instead want to enjoy interesting fusion flavors and fun cocktails. Great place for a group outing or celebration!

Driving through…read morehere, you see the blight and the abandonment of this area of Indianapolis since the decline of manufacturing. Then again, it's not an uncommon story unfortunately- large parts of the city forgotten in terms of economic development but then suddenly needed during times of campaigning. Had taken Keystone and then Rural Street to get here, and the potholes are not kind. But, we had this place on our list and were determined to make it here at least once. Tlaolli stood out for its vegan offerings. Plenty of vegan taco options, birria (an absolute rarity to see vegan birria), and torta. They offer soy chorizo, jackfruit, and king oyster mushrooms as protein options. The exterior is colorful, and inside there are seating options. We had gotten our food to go, so I cannot comment too much on the service. Had placed our order online, and the food was ready within the estimated time in the order. We ordered the vegan birria tacos ($17.99), the vegan torta ($10.99 base but added soy chorizo, which was $3.99), and the no-no-no taco ($5.99). Our total with fees was approximately $45. Tlaolli offers outdoor seating, so when the weather is nicer this would be a good place to come. Next to the East Washington IPL branch, Tlaolli has a colorful green exterior with neon signage. Food: The food was very good. The proteins were nicely seasoned and juicy. The highlight for me was the birria tacos and the consome. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. 10/10. This is a great local business in the area to support: offers a diverse menu of options with food that is comforting and tasty.
