Left: Mini mango passionfruit mousse cake. Right: Mini honey cake. Center: Special edition Ukraine flag colors macaron

A very kind friend gifted me several desserts from La Cherie in Redmond. The owner/baker is Ukrainian. Earlier in the year when the Russian war on Ukrainian first started, she was donating all proceeds from her special Ukraine colors macaron sales to help with the crisis in Ukraine. (She might be still doing it, but I'm not sure.) She works out of a commercial kitchen without a storefront. Online pre-order is the best approach. Dropping by works, too. She'll pull out the boxes she has. Her creations are very tasty, as well as pretty. The online photos are a good representation. From the photo: Left is a mini mango passionfruit mousse cake - $7.50. Online, it's called a Mini Mousse Cake with a choice of flavors. I like this one the most - very delicious, delicate, not too sweet, just a good size treat. Right is their very popular mini honey cake - $7. This one is the classic; it has just a touch of sweetness. I think the coffee would be excellent, too The center is the special edition Ukraine flag colors macaron. I don't think macarons is her strength, just being honest. It's ok. But I would order the cakes instead.

The best flavors. Love the hazelnut chocolate one

This bakery is exceptional. I only found out about it because I tried their macaroons at a cafe down south in Kent. I was in the area and decided to drop by and get myself a box of macaroons. I ended up buying a piece of cake as well. When walking in, you can tell it's not a sit down place to order and enjoy. The ladies in the back are hard at work and making a ton of desserts. I got 2 of each flavor they had from the macaroons. I've been to Paris and I didn't even like macaroons as much as I did these. That's how good they are. The inside is clean, well maintained and I loved the woman who served me. She made sure I was taken care of and helped me carry things to the car. Can't wait to be back. This is my favorite macaroon spot!

    4 type of cakes

I have to say, I have never had something taste so good in terms of mousse cakes! Highly HIGHLY recommend and enjoyed all 4 types of mini mousse cakes. Flavors we got were coconut mango passion fruit (white), blueberry (blue), strawberry vanilla (pink), and chocolate raspberry (brown). They're all very soft and have different layers so you're left with a bunch of flavors that blend super well together. Personally really enjoyed the white and blue one! Ordered online and picked up in person. Total was $26 for 4 cakes before tax. Check out their instagram too, they offer these in a much bigger size. 100% will be back to try the other flavors!

Mini mousse cakes variety box - $30; comes with 4 seasonal/holiday themed mousse cakes

Adorable and delicious cakes!!! They're honestly so well made, I ordered the mini mousse cakes variety box which came as a set of 4 holiday/season themed mousse cakes as a gift for a friend last Christmas and when I opened it up she literally gasped at how pretty they were Eyes always eat first and our eyes LOVED the cakes and much as our bellies did It's always an impressive feat making something that looks good or tastes good, but to manage accomplishing both? We were blown away. The packaging they used was also so cute and had Christmas themed cut out windows in their boxes. I'm honestly shocked that this bakery isn't more well known! Their whole execution is amazing.

The Banana Punch Monkey (yes, the trending one!) totally deserves its moment -- fun, nostalgic, and perfectly balanced without being too sweet. The s'mores flavor was rich and cozy with that toasted marshmallow vibe, the strawberry lemonade was bright and refreshing with just the right tartness, and the London Fog was so elegant and smooth, with a subtle tea-forward flavor that felt incredibly elevated. Beyond the macarons themselves, the experience really stood out. The owner was so lovely and sweet -- I got to learn about her passion behind the business, and it genuinely made the visit feel special. You can tell how much heart goes into everything she creates. The girl with black hair working there was also incredibly kind and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. All the macarons were fresh, beautifully made, and had that perfect chewy-meets-crisp texture. You can truly feel the care put into both the flavors and the presentation. If you're in Bothell (or even nearby), this place is 100% worth the stop. I'll definitely be back.

One of my absolute favorites is Ding Dong (a chocolate-forward flavor that's rich and nostalgic, like an elevated version of a childhood treat). I also love the chocolate mint for something refreshing, and the oatmeal flavor has this cozy, comforting vibe that pairs perfectly with tea or coffee. They consistently nail the texture: lightly crisp on the outside with a soft, chewy center. I also really appreciate that there's indoor seating. The last time I went, my parents were visiting, and we sat inside sipping tea and chatting. It felt warm, cozy, and just really sweet. It's not just a grab-and-go dessert spot, it's somewhere you can linger. And every time I've gone, the women working there have been genuinely friendly and welcoming. That consistency makes such a difference. Such a cute little gem in Totem Lake. Perfect for gifting or a small afternoon treat!

I haven't been going as regularly as I have in the past because of cost. On June 4th, while at Bel Sq, I decided to stop in. A surprise awaited me. For the first time ever, they offered a discount! A purchase of any box filled with only "May exclusives" receives 30% off, while supplies last. Their smallest box is a 6 count. A box of 6 that is normally $18 sold for $12.60 with this discount. Every month 5 temporary flavors are offered as the month's exclusives. Since I love trying new flavors, this discount is a great for a snacker like me. The staff member said it was the first time she has ever seen this discount. Me, too! I don't know if this deal will continue in the future, but I sure hope so. Their shop is now on the second floor, by Macy's. Decor is different, more colorful, just as pretty.

That being said Seattle's not one of those locations that specifically lacked in Asian bakeries, but certainly there was an untapped and growing demand for more, and TLJ was one of the ones to step in and fill the void. This location carries all the basic options and more, their cake menu for pre-order shows the entire range of cakes, something I don't necessarily see in some of the other smaller locations I've been to. Cakes depending on the size will run you about $40-80. Average pastries range from $3-8. Hot coffee and tea beverages are available though I haven't tried them at this location, and also some chilled drinks and desserts. This visit out of the purchase I tried the spinach cheese pastry which was a'ight but could've use a bit more filling and the Mont Blanc bread with was kinda like croissant dough baked in a loaf--lovely, flaky with a slight crisp and sweet brush of sugar on the outside. My co-purchasers got more of the whipped cream-filled pastries which weren't really my thing. Like other Asian bakeries they provide trays and tongs for self-service bread and pastry selection, then bring it up to the counter to pay. Cash and card accepted, no seats or dining section in this store.

The space is huge, but the service was remarkably slow. There was no one at the front to greet us when we walked in, and the bakery counter was left unattended for a while, leaving customers waiting. While our specific server was kind, the overall vibe from the staff wasn't very welcoming. As for the food, my husband had the steak burrito. It was large and tasted okay, but it wasn't anything special--just an ordinary burrito you could get anywhere. I ordered the rockfish tacos, which were disappointing. The tortillas were too thick and crumbled so easily that I couldn't even pick them up to eat. Worse, the fish had a noticeable fishy smell, making me question its freshness, though the overall flavor profile was decent. Ironically, the best part of the meal was the creamy corn served on the side. The atmosphere is more of a spacious, warehouse style rather than cozy, though it is interesting to be able to see into the catering kitchen. It's sad to see a place that used to be so great lose its touch. I hope they can bring back the quality they used to have.
