I found La Cabana this morning when I searched for Mexican restaurants along my route. I ran straight to Yelp to look at some of their reviews but realized what I wanted wasn't hard to make. I went into the restaurant instead of ordering online so that I could ask specific questions. One of my favorite Mexican breakfast entrees, chilaquilas was on the menu and the other restaurants I looked at didn't have it so I was definitely going to order with La Cabana. I went in to my order and it already came with either beef like it should, so I chose chicken with the verde sauce, the icky way to order it lol The only thing I wasn't a fan of were the huge white onions on top where red sound be. The avocado helped cool it down from the spice. My egg was fried correctly and the verde sauce was delectable. I would come back to reorder although the huge onions were an eye sore. The food is excellent and incredibly comforting. Their regular sopes took me straight back to my childhood, and their pineapple atole is truly unforgettable. The service is always kind, and the ambience feels warm and welcoming. We're moving to Maine and will genuinely miss these dishes, but we hope to return one day just to visit La Cabaña again. I was expecting more/better from this place. It was laundry day, which means it's taco day. Usually we go to OmegaMart, right there in the same parking lot as Sudsville on North Point, but I decided to try another of the 20 Mexican spots in my neighborhood. It wasn't necessarily a bad decision, just a disappointing one. La Cabana is another one of those restaurants where the line cook or whomever doesn't read the whole ticket. Not only was there lettuce on the burrito which I specified no lettuce, but they charged me for but did not make my quesadilla. I was really looking forward to the beef tongue quesadilla, because I haven't ever had beef tongue before but I have heard good things about its tenderness. Also, you pay PER TACO, not as a combo plate of three - or at least that's how it's been at other places I order from. So when I went to pick up my order, and felt that the bag was light, I only realized that I hadn't ordered enough tacos - not that my quesadilla was entirely missing. It makes me disgruntled, having to check my orders all the time. Why is it so hard for the people working in the kitchen to check the ticket and make sure the customer received everything they paid for? I mean, the place was empty. It's not like they were slammed and didn't have the time. It's a pity because the food was fairly good. The nachos were amazing, but I'm pretty sure that's because they use liquid nacho cheese. The tacos could use a little help.They're missing some critical component, like salt. The chicken one was lackluster. And I feel like the tortillas could use some work. Instead of there being two thin tortillas, there's only one thick, tasteless thing. I ended up scraping the filling out and throwing the tortilla in the trash. Thankfully I always have flour tortillas at home. I know, I know, flour tortillas aren't authentic, but that ship sailed long before I got my hands on these tacos. The hot sauces are all right. I've had better, more flavorful ones from OmegaMart, Tacos Tolteca, and even Jalapenos. I ended up having to use my own chopped jalapenos from my fridge to bring the spice, as the green salsa has no kick whatsoever, but the orangish red on is a bit too much. Mixing them together did nothing to help. I'm sorry to say that I will not be returning, and that I cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

The Good: The staff was pleasant and we were seated quickly. The establishment was clean and comfortable. I had the vegetarian tacos, and I will say they are an acquired, which means they are not necessary bad, it is just not a taste I am used to. My wife had the chicken tacos, which she thought were decent. My son had the cheese quesadilla and fries, and they were both good. The Bad: The food could have been a little better I thought. This place is too expensive for a dive! 3 little tacos and a drink set me back $15 (20 with tip). The chicken taco was good but the steak was very fatty and grayish. No complimentary chips and salsa either. I sat outside during COVID-19 but the trash and pesky flies made it very undesirable. I called to put in a pickup order but you have to first pay before they can start making your order and I was unfortunately driving so I had to be there to give my payment info and put my order in. I ordered tacos de asada and tortas de Milanesa de pollo. It took about 40 mins for me to finally get my order. The tortas were alright but could've for sure had more in them. Had just one thin slice of milanesa de pollo. The carne asada tacos didn't have much flavor and the meat was overcooked, tasted kinda old honestly. I've had much better Mexican food elsewhere who gives more and is worth the price. I don't think I'll be ordering from here again. read more

My boyfriend and I order here about once a week. Since we found this place, we miss southern California much less. When me moved here, we missed good tacos. And now we have found them, lol. I lead a weekly taco themed bike ride and this is one of the locations that we frequent because it is a real crowd pleaser. The staff is warm and friendly and makes excellent recommendations. The most difficult decision is whether to go with the delicious, authentic tacos, or the amazing tortas. The portions of the torta are huge, but so good after a long pedal over to the restaurant. Great place looks like a hole in the wall dive and it is. If you have ever been to old Mexico then this is just like a real authentic old Mexican restaurant. The food is off the chain here. Everything we had was delicious. The only thing that I see they could do better at is trimming the fat off of the steak after cooking it. No one wants to chomp down on a chunk of fat while eating. And maybe a waitress or someone on staff who understands English would be nice. The waitress and staff were polite and nice. And the food was great. I will not go to another Mexican restaurant this will be my go to place from now on. And the nice part is that's it's literally a half a block from my house. lucky me read more

This place will blow your mind authentic homemade Mexican food it actually tastes like the food in Mexico we had the whole family here my girlfriend and her family are Mexican natives and they said the food is very authentic.we had tacos el pastor, delicious, quesadilla de pollo very good, platillo de barbacoa(pork seasoned and stewed all day) it comes with rice and beans so delicious I can still taste it , torta de res Milanesa delicious and we had Jamaica (hibiscus flower) and horchata (rice milk) to drink it was very delicious also the tortillas are definitely homemade by hand they come out hot and fresh just don't come here expecting quick service food is definitely made to order and isn't a quick process but it's 100% worth the wait my favorite thing was the all around authentic feeling of this place it's literally called the cabin it has a rustic feel to it you just feel comfortable here and then the food comes and you are blown away by the food my favorite is the barbacoa platter (platillo de barbacoa) will literally please you palate as long as you like pork read more

We ordered delivery through the yelp app. They delivered really quick and food was still hot when it arrived. We ordered a chicken burrito and chicken torta. Chicken burrito was really good. Just the right balance of sauce and food without being soggy. The chicken torta was huge. The chicken itself was a little dry, but it was still pretty good. Again perfect balance.
