Going to Maui so I brought in a picture of green-blue ombre nails and a picture of palm tree/bird nail art for the ring finger and not only did she do exactly what I wanted but made it even better by adding some subtle orange-red tones for a sunset look behind the palm tree. They messed up the first time because the polish was drying with weird lines all across it. So they had to take it off on 3 of my nails on my left hand to redo all of it. They blamed it on the new nail dryer they had, and I thought okay, things happen. I still left happy and tipped well because I understand that mistakes happen all the time. But the gel peeled off my thumb the next day! SO upset, and I was out of town so I couldn't come back to get it fixed right away. There's a scientific principle, and yes this is true, that states that if a particle is being observed it will not behave in the way that is expected. It's the same way that your child won't say that word again, or showing your friend a cool skill you nailed the first try. So must it be, it seems, that an amazing nail salon won't be as amazing if you bring other people with you on your next visit. My sister said early this morning that she wanted to get her nails done, and since I had raved about the service here before, she wanted to pay it a visit. I called ahead to make an appointment for two pedicures, noting when I made it that one would probably change her mind from that. We arrived late for our appointment but were hurriedly seated--rather so quickly that I didn't have ample opportunity to choose more than "pedicure" and "gel manicure." My sister said she wanted a basic manicure, and needed her gel removed. They wrapped her fingers to soak the gel off immediately upon seating her, and set me up. Since I had been rushed into a chair, I had to request a handheld menu to make my selection. I chose he basic gel for my hands and the second tier pedicure, since it was in my budget and suited my need of a callus remover. I was upsold on the pedicure almost immediately, with the woman who started on my feet pointing to a corrected price on the menu for their highest level treatment. "Today only, it's $27!" she said in a very helpful way. The price she pointed to was a worn-looking label stuck over the laminated menu. I politely declined, and had to do so two more times, finally justifying it with my limited budget after she attempted to push my sister to get me to agree to the higher level package. Later, I was not asked if I wanted art on my toes--I assume because of my budget comment--but that upsale I WOULD have agreed to. I suppose they saved me money in that way, which works out. My manicure began within a few minutes of my pedicure, but along with having one hand occupied with it being worked on, I had three janitor's key ring style rings put into my hands to choose my color. Rather a challenge to do one handed, but I managed. While I had two girls working on me and a flurry around me it felt, my sister sat at a manicure table adjacent to me with foil on her fingers. Yes it takes time to lift the gel off, and she was alone for about ten minutes before someone sat down with her...only to have that person get up and walk away a moment later when the next guest arrived. They did not return. Easily 30 minutes passed before someone sat down with her to begin her manicure, and at that point I was practically done. All in all, I am just so disappointed that this place which was so fantastic in my memory was a dud in terms of service to a first time guest. The manicures we both got were good in a technical sense, and really the level that my cuticles were cared for and my nails shaped was superb. My toes were well maintained, if the shaping on them was uneven at the end, and the color was solid and glossy and cleaned up with care. From a technical sense, this place lived up in every way to my memory. However, I cannot forgive that my sister's first visit was tainted by being ignored for 30 minutes. I can't forgive being told an outright lie about special pricing when I had seen that pricing prior. I would go back for the technical skill of the technicians, but maybe perhaps when the lovely Lady that helped me the first time is there to help again. Until then, I think I will be a bit happier doing my own mani pedis. read more

I visit Generation Nails regularly when I'm visiting family in Fullerton. Coming from NYC, I know that their prices are very good and their services are very professional. I have always been lucky in that they have been able to do a pedicure for me right away. I have noticed, though, that as I am getting my toes done, the place tends to fill up. I've only been three times, but I guess because I tip well, they remember from past visits. The enamel stays on for about a month. I like to add the extra 10 min feet/leg massage for $7. I plan to continue coming here for my vacation pedicures. I gave it four starts because they don't have the color I normally choose (Essie Mojito Madness). While they were closed I tried a few other places but had some bad experiences (polish not lasting, cheap products turning my nails cloudy, etc.). Well, my review is very close in nature to Caitlin S.'s about 1 month ago! We must've went on the same day, although I only went a few days ago, because they had the same "special" on their pedicure package for $27 on the "best" package according to my technician! Lol! It was the same menu, because it still had the worn out sticker on the menu, showing the discounted price. Everyone was very friendly to us. I took my daughter and mom along with me. But, you know they are talking about you, when we decline something and then the whole shop starts talking in whispers, in a language you can't understand! Where are all the English speaking shops!! I came in for acrylic nails & a pedicure.. I was really looking for a relaxing pedicure..I brought a book to enjoy while kicking back in my massage chair planning to relax, get a massage & pretty feet at the same time! NOT!! I was rushed in a chair, they don't turn on the massage function during the pedicure (they finally did for about 3 mins at the VERY end during my leg massage ! As I sat down, I had thrust into my hand 3 HUGE rings of gel colors to pick from, which they asked me every 30 secs if I had a color yet!! Then, the worst part of all, was they set up beside my chair to do my nails.. Hey, I'm all for saving time as the next guy.. But maybe give your clients a choice.. If they have all day and would rather relax, do them at separate times.. I had hands and feet flying everywhere!! Needless to say, I felt probably more stressed leaving than I did going in! Then for the best part, they look at my eye brows and say, "ohh, you need your eye brows done!".. Gee thanks!! Well, they were right, so I figure, let's do it while I'm here.. So I sat patiently waiting for someone to escort me to the "waxing" room.. Well, wait no longer, here she comes rolling her cart, hot wax on top and did it right in my pedicure chair in front of EVERYBODY!! Then, with stick poised with hot wax by my face, she tells me, "oh, let me clean up your lip for you!" I had to practically grab her hand to stop her from doing it. If you are ok with the pedicure/manicure being done together, you should give them a try. They are nice people and for the most part all 20 nails look good.. I needed to file my nails for a couple things, but for the most part they look great! Hope this review helps someone.. Worst nail salon ever: The nail polish selection and decor is pathetic Ive watched them reuse tools on different fuests without cleaning them. There pedicure is average at best But the worst of all os theyre gel manicure,i have to come back bc they forgot to put the top coat on my left hand and gave me attitude about it and over cooked my gel on both hands bc they cracked besides that i have very strong nails but they insist on buffing your nail raw so after i came here my nail broke on the sides of two fingers and i got charged 10 dollars to "fix" the nails only after a day having the gel lift off my nail and crack even more. Yet again coming again to get it fixed i got major attitude finally i cldnt take it after two times of coming i finally took the gel off the proper way myself! This is by far the best place I have been to for a gel manicure in the OC. Sally is my favorite girl to go to. She takes her time and shows excellent attention to detail. I really love that this place applies more than 2 coats of color in addition to the base and top coat. A lot of salons I have been to skimp on the polish, resulting in a thin, cheap-looking manicure that lasts all about 1 week. Their prices are also the lowest in the area by far. The only complaint I have is that I wish that they had more color variety. I have a favorite color that I choose every time I go, but I would like to find another color eventually. Just got done with a disastrous experience at Generation Nails. I called before going, and they said they had availability for myself, my mom, aunt and sister. We got there and they sat three of us down in spa chairs. They filled the bowls with cool water, and left us all sitting. We asked for the water to please be heated up a bit, and instead of just adding some to the bowl, they told us to put our feet up on cold towels. We tried to put our feet back in the bowls, but were scolded, as apparently we needed to wait for them to heat our water in the microwave (yep). My mom and I sat there for 30 minutes without any help, and though my aunt was served, that didn't look much better. Her girl hurt her multiple times while clipping her cuticles and scrubbing her calluses. The tools they used were not obviously sterilized, so by this point, you can imagine we were beyond annoyed, especially since we had called before coming and they told us they could take us. I will never go back to Generation Nails. That was a horrible experience and a major waste of time. read more

It's unfortunate that they suffered a fire loss about three months ago. However, they have bounced right back. In three months time, they have started the business at a new location in La Habra. It's on Harbor Blvd between Lambert and La Habra (right behind Taco Bell). I went to see them and was pleased to see all the familiar faces, Justin, Jennifer, Michelle and Mindy. During the last three months, I had to try out a few other nail salons. The prices were comparable but the service, the attentiveness and the atmosphere were not what I used to. Generations Nails Salon is still the place. At the new location, Justin and Jennifer remodeled the entire shop with brand new equipments. All eight spa chairs look really nice, comfortable and clean. Today, Mindy took care of my manicure and wax. My nails are nicely done now and all the overgrown cuticles were perfectly trimmed down. I look forward to going back there again at their new location. Besides, it'll still take a few more months to get the Fullerton location all fixed up. Here's the new location: 231 S. They use all OPI polishes and my last pedicure lasted over a month in great condition. When I went back for the next one I requested Anna again. I love this place. read more
