Came here for the first time. Was not impressed at all . The chips and salsa were very bland and the Pepsi was flat. I ordered calamari and it was super chewy no flavor at all . My boyfriend ordered the mazatlan plate and it was such a disappointment. My children ordered nachos which also had no flavor at all. I would give this place zero stars. Horrible customer service by not honoring posted hours. They were unapologetic and simply approached the situation from an you are S.O.L. point of view. Good solid Mexican food. They serve their burritos wet, and I love that. The ranchero sauce on the burrito was delicious. I had the steak and chicken fajita burrito and both size and taste were excellent. They have a lot of other items on the menu including some selections with shrimp and seafood. Saw one guy who ordered the fish tacos, and that dude cleaned his plate! Plus I heard him compliment the chef. This is a nice addition to the seafood grab joints we like to visit. read more

My initial thought after my first bite of food... how the heck did this place get four stars?? It's in a tourist town so maybe it's because this place is so stinkin hilly that by the time you find food, the "spice of the west" (hunger) kicks into full throttle and people are tricked into thinking it's great. I dunno. What I do know is this- my refried beans were a very light flesh color instead of brown-bean color. It was visually weird but they tasted fine...for the three tablespoons I got. My shredded chicken tacos were ok. The chicken was very firm and not very "shreddy". Flavor wise, everything was mediocre. If you're driving around bodega bay, try one of the cutesy restaurants you see before this place. I have a hunch the food and atmosphere are way better. Dang I'm bummed! I had the best burrito of my life the other night. The Mar y Tierra burrito, which I got with Peruvian beans, is stuffed with grilled chicken, rice, and beans, and topped with guac, grilled shrimp, and a tomato bisque sauce. The grilled chicken was full of flavor and absolutely delicious. The tomato sauce was a perfect complement and I couldn't get enough. The shrimp were a little overcooked but easy to overlook given the taste of the rest of the burrito. Service was prompt and very conscious of customers' comfort. This place has some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. I grew up in San Jose Ca so I know what good Mexican food is. My husband and I ordered the Chile verde plate and Camerones El Mojo De Ajo. Prawns dish served with an enchilada butter mushroom sauce. The Chile verde sauce was absolutely amazing and the pork was fork tender. If you are going to be in Bodega bay it is worth stopping in here. We were too excited to eat to take a picture which is a bummer lol and to say we damn near licked our plates clean is an understatement. Their rice and beans are also amazing we had the Peruvian whole beans and refried Peruvian beans and wow. I really can't say enough about how delicious our meal was. Hats off to the chef! read more

Finally after someone cleared off the coerced table that had been empty the whole time, just not cleaned for us a woman stood by the table and gestures to us to come to her......weird but ok. No menus in her hand. Did not ask if we would like water....legit the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant. I don't understand how this is on top ten on yelp for bodega. The review will only get worse. Don't come here. Finally after several minutes someone comes to take our order, as a whole because no one came to ask for drinks or appetizers. I ordered a coke, a burger with no bun but on lettuce and clam chowder soup. My husband order d the carnitas plate and a green tea. They brought chips and a salsa dips, one was a watered down avocado sauce. And the other was an ok salsa. I would eat it again. But the avocado sauce, it was just a cheep excuse of guacamole let's be real. The coke was bomb, but of course. Bottled coke always is. The one things they didn't touch, but came out of a glass bottle. My husband got his not even 8oz of a cup of hot water, (2.75 for tea. And the brand they use, that is exactly how much it cost if we were to buy a box, such a rip off) he ended up not drinking the tea because there was a weird film on top of the water and the tea just tasted like soap. Our food finally came. I mean....omg. My husband was going to pay 17 dollars for this plate that was the size of a small plate but spread out thinly across the plate to make it appear as a lot. I had Mexican food three times this week already so that's why I ordered none traditional dish, big mistake. Took one bite of my burger and didn't even want to finish it. So over cooked it was like eating rubber. It may of been a frozen patty too. I wouldn't be surprised. The cook at one point had to come and clean off a table because the kid who was doing it was being so slow. They had two kids and a woman doing serving and bussing. This place is embarrassing to the restaurant business. I would rather not have this place open then have my restaurant being run so poorly. I had hoped to order a flaun. I mean who can ruin a flaun. But they NEVER CAME BACK to check on us. Finally after 20 minutes I got up and waited at the front. Listen to this: I stood up there, where a party was standing in front of the door as well, with someone in front of the register ignoring me for almost a minute. Then finally he asks if I want a check without making eye contact. I said, no I'd like to. Speak to his manager who he claimed was not there. This gentleman's attitude was appalling. He asked me with a salty tone if I wanted to leave a message, and I asked him how long this restaurant has been under his management. Five years. 5 years guys. I told him I couldn't fathom a restaurant with such poor quality of food and service lasting five years. I told him I absolutely did not want to waste my money here and he waves his hand as to shoo me away and said " just leave", so I did . My husband try to pay for his plate but I guess they said it was fine, to just go. Thank god. I feel this place is on its last leg and if it's not it should be. Tacos Dorados were very good, crunchy and very fresh tasting served with guacamole/lettuce and pico. Both salsas were tasty, no heat. As Bodega Bay residents, we were thrilled to hear La Bodeguita was coming to town. It's tough for a vegan to find anything besides a sandwich in a fishing village. La Bodeguita has been happily willing to fulfill my vegan requests and surpass my expectations while still pleasing my omnivore husband's palate. The staff is friendly and they have the best salsa I've ever eaten. Nice to have an alternative to the two big, noisy, crowded restaurants in town. UPDATE: If you are vegan or veg ask to have your food cooked in a separate. A recent experience had me realize that my food was cooked on the same grill as the meat. They've been very accommodating in all other aspects of service so I can't imagine they would baulk at complying with your request. read more

Had the Carnitas Taco, blew my mind! So simple, only 4 or 5 ingredients, but perfectly prepared and Oh So flavorful. My wife wanted dessert and their Churro's were amazing. This is an "OK" restaurant. We sat outside as it was hot and stuffy inside. Our waitress was attentive, brought water for our dogs, and apologetic for them being out of a couple of things we tried to order. The calamari appetizer was tender and not over done. We weren't sure what to do with the pile of spring greens that it was served atop. I went with the salmon special which was cooked medium rare as I requested. The salmon was moist, but the rest of the plate (sauce, black beans, rice) were bland. My wife went with the shrimp burrito due to rave Yelp reviews. The shrimp was overcooked and the rest of the burrito was forgettable. $60 plus tip for the app, 2 entrees, and 2 margaritas which isn't unusual for a tourist town. Ate here on a whim after spending some time at the nearby beach. We opted to sit outside because the inside of the restaurant was like a sauna (it was about 80 degrees outside but much hotter inside). It was quiet on an early Wednesday evening and only a few other patrons were there. The chips were tasty and the red salsa was decent. We asked for another basket, although we didn't realize they charge for seconds....hmm. They didn't notify us that it would cost extra; we just saw the extra chips listed on the final bill. My party ordered a vegetarian burrito, a tostada with carnitas, and the fajita burrito. My vegetarian burrito was doused with a bright orange sauce that I didn't care for, but the burrito itself was okay and had a spicy kick to it. My partner thought her tostada flavor was okay, but she immediately felt bloated after eating it and it felt like it didn't settle well. Our friend thought her fajita burrito was mediocre. The food was a little pricey given how basic the ingredients were. I've never been charged for extra chips/salsa before, which I thought was odd. We try to visit Bodega Bay often, and every time we come here we make certain to visit this little Mexican restaurant. We always get their super burritos, one of California's best values at ~$10.00. I get the regular with ground beef and my husband gets the chipotle with shredded chicken or beef. They are huge and delicious--we always take home leftovers. This place was such the sweet and unexpected find to bring in an impromptu birthday celebration for my mom! Our waiter was the sweetest and so considerate, and the food was the bomb! My brother and I ordered the vegetarian burritos (a la mojado/wet style) and my mom had the cheese enchiladas. Both dishes exceeded par on our highly sensitive Mexican palates. we are business owners in Bodega Bay and this rude establishment treated the city councilmen of bodega bay with no respect when he called back to tell them after waiting at the rest for 50 minutes for there take out food. I was my fault for not Checking the order because they left out 3 of 5 meals I ordered and then have the audacity to tell me that they are closed and not to come back for the remainder of the order because they were closed. I called at 8:05 and they closed at 8:30 and when we left the place was packed. all the workers there looked very lazy and beyond rude. I was shocked when cheated us also on our refund since I paid $101.50 plus at the time of purchase giving them a $20 additional tip.. I was so mad since it was way before closing time and wouldn't refund my order and we couldn't get it made for us no matter what. and by the way, after was all said and done, it really didn't hurt our feelings because the food that was left with us that costed over $100 tasted like dung. (2) a burrito with only rice, beans, cheese, and SPICY ENCHILLADA SAUCE for the kid who doesn't eat anything spicy. This was marked "bean cheese." (3) a super burrito with black beans, and NO tomatoes or lettuce. This was marked "no meat." (4) a super burrito with REFRIED BEANS and NO tomatoes or lettuce. This was marked "veggie." I realize this is a small family run business and that Friday July 3 is going to be a busy night. Nevertheless, not being able to get what you order and pay for is a pretty big problem. My wife and I were hungry so we ate a burrito each and, although not what we ordered, they were decent. My daughter was not able to finish hers since she doesn't eat spicy food. There aren't a lot of decent places to eat in Bodega Bay and I'm sure if we were dining in tonight, they would have fixed our meals. But, we weren't and they couldn't. Even if they did remake three burritos, it would have meant waiting twice as long for our food. On the one hand mistakes happen. On the other, there wasn't one thing they got correct. By all rights, this was a zero-to-one star dining experience. But, in reality, the burritos my wife and I ate were actually decent. For this reason alone I would give it 3 stars and then take away one star for not getting a single order correct - and one so wrong that my daughter couldn't eat it. read more
