Onion soup was delivered cold. Not even warm. It was terrible. The Octopus had the consistency of sausage but apparently that is the way in Paris. The gratins were the best in our meal. Steak tartare and the beef borgignone was good. Service was great though.

La Belle Ferronière was a happy little surprise that we stumbled on. My boyfriend and I were actually on the way to a different restaurant for lunch, only to find that it was closed for a few days. We were both hangry and ended up going to the first restaurant we saw. We had lunch at La Belle Ferronière around 12:30pm on a Friday. The place wasn't too busy yet, but the lunch crowd quickly filled up the place shortly after. The place was quite big though. There was plenty of seating both levels, and we were given options for seating in the upstairs area. Overall customer service was excellent. Julie was our server, and she was amazing. She was very friendly and helpful, and she spoke English quite well. I also read that service can often be slow at restaurants in France, but I thought our food came out in such a timely manner. Not sure if it's because we were in a more touristy area with lots of foot traffic, but hey, I'll take it. We were already on our 4th day of the trip but haven't had a traditional French meal. We ordered Eggs Mayonnaise and Escargots to share, and we ordered beef bourguignon and French onion soup as our entrees. Don't knock the Eggs mayonnaise until you've tried it. I've never seen this offered at French restaurants back in the United States, but I saw on food videos that this is a dish to try. Think of it as French-style deviled eggs: soft boiled eggs with salty mayo... and it's absolutely delicious. I've had escargots before and liked them, but it was my boyfriend's first time trying them. We got a half order (6 escargots). The buttery herb sauce was very flavorful. I loved my traditional French onion soup. It was so warm, cheesy, and filling - sticks to your bones. Exactly what I wanted during a cold, rainy day. Lastly, I recommended my boyfriend try beef bourguignon, which is a beef wine stew. He loved the dish, and I had the pleasure of trying it. The beef was so soft and tender, and the red wine flavor was very prominent. Beef bourguignon I've had back at home loses the wine flavor, so I really appreciated how forward the wine taste was.

We had just arrived in Paris and were pretty hungry for lunch and our concierge suggested La Belle Ferronnière. We got there during their busy lunch service, but were still able to get right in and sit just inside from the patio. The menu is nice, but I was hoping for more from our first French Café visit, such as another soup item (perhaps a bisque) and possibly something in a beef bourguignon. The items we did get were nice and the service was great! Our server spoke really nice English, which was very helpful to us. The vibe was definitely fun and energetic.

Had escargot and salmon tartare. Escargot was buttery, but the green sauce kept it light and refreshing. Salmon tartare was delicious and the creme around it accompanied it well. Service was a little slow and menu was in French, but there is free wifi and you can sit inside or outside.

First night in Paris and we had no idea what we wanted to eat. We wanted something light, more French cuisine than American--I can eat pizza, pasta and burgers at home. Our concierge recommended this restaurant, it was a short walk from our hotel on Avenue Champs Elysees. The restaurant was busy on this Friday evening, a good sign. After reviewing the menu we decided to order several entrees to share instead of individual main courses and share 1 main course. First and foremost, French onion soup is a must and that is what we ordered. In addition, we ordered the large Burgundy escargots (9); baked ravioli & and curry skewers with rice. And for dessert we ordered a Nutella crepe and ice cream. The French onion soup and escargot were delicious and tasty. The garlic butter with basil was quite nice and perfect for dipping bread in it. The baked ravioli with parmesan was good, however, I was extremely disappointed with the curry skewers and jasmine rice as it lacked a good curry flavor. Overall, the meal was very average...it is doubtful that I would return. For what we ordered, it was overpriced at nearly 80€ for a meal consisting of 2 entrees, soup, a main course and desserts.

Stopped in for a spell for Berthillon. Running up to the bar, we made our request. The staffer there - maybe the bartender - probably thought we were insane by our conversation and mannerisms; he wasn't the warmest guy around - but he still got us our Berthillon ice cream, and fast. Dessert was served in a high metal cup with pleasing Gavottes wafers. As for the delightful orbs of sugar, the pear flavor was the best. Prices were decent for the location, too. We scarfed down everything so fast that we didn't get any decent photos. Several scoops of ice cream later, we paid, tipped (he was fast, more important than friendly when you have Berthillon cravings), and left.

My friends and I stopped at La Belle Ferroniere for lunch on the first day of our Paris vacation! It is conveniently located on a side street off the Champs Elysées, right across from Hotel Frontenac. It was the perfect place to welcome us to Paris! The menu had a great variety of food: crepes, croissants, soup, sandwiches, burgers, salads and a great list of desserts! I ordered the French cheese plate- which came with a selection of French cheese, toast, and a side salad. It was everything I had hoped for! The cheese was phenomenal. The platter offered a perfect variety of different flavors and texture. I ordered a glass of wine with my cheese. Our server helped me pick the wine based on my description of what I was looking for. His recommendation was perfect! My one friend ordered the French Onion soup, which she loved. My other friend decided on a bacon Cheeseburger (which was hilarious). I had a bite of the cheeseburger and I have to admit, it was delicious. For dessert, my friends and I split a Creme Brulee and a Chocolate Mousse. Both were divine! The servers were exceptionally friendly. They made us laugh throughout the meal and were very patient with our horrible pronunciation of French menu items. Luckily, the menu had English translations under the French menu items.

The wife and I had passed La Belle Ferronière several times during our time in Paris on our way back to our hotel. While brasseries like La Belle Ferronière are as abundant in Paris as Starbucks are in Seattle, we noted that it always seemed to be busy regardless of the time of day/night. Located just off George V on a corner across the street from a Cartier store, we decided to stop for a late lunch at La Belle Ferronière for a light snack and some wine. Doing the Parisian thing, we sat outside facing the street to enjoy the nice weather and people watch. Service was prompt and professional. I ordered the charcuterie plate and a glass of red wine. Prices were comparable to other bistros and brasseries. My wine was fine. My charcuterie, on the other hand, was a disappointment. While it was a reasonably generous portion, the salami, prosciutto, and ham were okay, if unremarkable. However, the terrine was terribly dry, with a consistency of canned tuna with every bit of moisture squeezed out, and bland. It wasn't good. Perhaps I chose the wrong dish and La Belle Ferronière does other things much better. That said, my experience gave me the impression that La Belle Ferronière was just an average place that was more style than substance.

Another charming café off of the Champs Elysées. While slightly pricier than quality brasseries in other neighborhoods, La Belle Ferronière was, on the first occasion, an enjoyable lunch spot. The second time was deceiving. The first time I ordered the magret de canard with gratin dauphinois and my dining companion ordered the daily lunch special: leg of lamb with new potatoes and an apple-mango crumble for 19.90€. Too bad it wasn't 90 cents less, so it could fit on the Ticket Resto card! The duck breast was coated in a not-too-sweet balsamic glaze, and its potato accompaniment was delicious, albeit slightly undercooked. I was hoping it would come with a small salad (the plates were certainly large enough to fit one), but instead it came with fresh cherry tomatoes (which would have been better slightly roasted). The lamb was good, and the dessert just okay (I'm not sure it was entirely made on site). My second lunch at this spot was a little less tasty, and as my partner had gotten the plat+dessert lunch formula that was listed on the board, when we ordered the plat du jour (a filling but bland tuna tartine) and one of the daily desserts, we figured it would cost 19.90€ as well. When the check came, it was a whopping 25€. Why? Trickery. One dessert has a barely visible asterisk next to it, and only that dessert is eligible for the menu price. Not at all cool. Apart from that, the waiters were attentive and efficient, the service speedy.

Tourist trap, crap. Worst, driest Croissants in the world. You can find better in a Texas supermarket and your breakfast won't cost 45 Euro. Came here for breakfast because were told the croissant was fresh. It isnt. It is days old, overpriced and not of the standard you might find in a Costco aisle but in the sell by date section. The coffee is weak and they cover your breakfast in Paprika. As far as Parisian breakfasts are concerned, this is total shit. Very disappointing. Worst, driest Croissants in the world and expensive to boot. Never again.

    Hands down. Best!

First off, this is an iconic historic hotel. Beautiful location at Place Vendome. My friend and I were hungry and on a weekday night and randomly walked in and were promptly seated. I'm not sure how it normally goes here regarding wait times and reservations. The French onion soup and lobster rolls were divine. The server would walk around with a bread box and would bring the whole box to the table and you could pick from there. We had cereal bread and an onion focaccia. Amazing! They gave us complimentary chocolates too. The vibes and ambience are immaculate. It looks like a classic fancy restaurant. There was a piano player too! They gave us a little chair for our purses.
