I couldn't be more pleased with the product and service. I also found their pricing very reasonable.

The overall vibe is fun without trying too hard, and the artistic "opposites ... hi/lo" theme gives the hotel a distinctive personality that stands out from more generic hotels. The rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The hi/lo aesthetic is present there as well. We didn't dine on-site this trip, but the bar area looked nice to hang in. Location in Portland can vary block by block, yet this spot was solid -- easy Uber access, a few coffee shops within walking distance, and a convenient food truck pod right across the street. Valet was quick and seamless, which always helps kick off a weekend smoothly. My wife and I agreed this will likely be our go-to base for future Portland weekends.

The only thing I did not like was the rainfall shower which I personally think is anti-Black, but the bathrooms were beautiful and spacious. The fixtures were gold and stylish. The beds are very comfortable. The wood on the wall was made from reclaimed wood. The lobby is a vibe and the bartenders were knowledgeable and fun. Try Grandma's Totty! There was a regular there who had a large German Shepard unleashed. That was now cool! The hotel restaurant was also delicious!

Hello my Yelpies…read more When you're prepping for a food show and find your schedule too tight for a proper meal, MJ's Steakhouse at Ilani Casino becomes an easy and worthwhile stop. The atmosphere strikes a comfortable balance between upscale and approachable, and the staff greet you with genuine warmth--always ready with a few well-informed recommendations. The drink list is impressively curated, offering balanced selections that pair effortlessly with the menu's highlights. Though it's a steakhouse by name, my surprise favorite was the salmon--flawlessly cooked and arguably among the best I've had in recent memory. Perhaps MJ's should consider rebranding as a fish house that just happens to serve a perfect steak on the side. Cheers The Dutchman

It certainly had an upscale, romantic vibe to it. Our server was very kind attentive but because of the size of the party, was unable to accommodate fully to each person. It was a fairly priced deal for my husband and I on that Friday to get the Surf and Turf special. We got to share two starters, one entree, two sides and a dessert for $110. We got the caramelized onion soup, which was reminiscent of French onion soup but waterier. The ribeye was well seasoned and sliced for sharing. The shrimp was plump and not overcooked. The mac and cheese was creamy and flavorful. The parmesan fries were buttery and sharp. The cheesecake had some fruit and compote layered on top. The crust was crunchy and thin, a good ratio for the dessert. Overall, the food quality was better than I imagined. Only caveat was when we left, a comedy show was also wrapping up. The delay in the parking was insanely slow, and it took us nearly an hour to leave the parking lot. So, I would check the schedule in the future if I were ever to return. Because the casino is an hour away from us, I wouldn't return unless I were in the area.

Norman, Sharon, Wen, and Ian are exceptional--not just in their craftsmanship, but as people. They are some of the kindest and most genuine individuals we've had the pleasure of working with. They care deeply about what they do, and it shows in both the quality of their work and their reliability and responsiveness. The way they treat their clients is truly next level. They are consistently on time, dependable, and deliver beautiful results. Norman has an incredible eye for selections, and I really enjoyed learning from him about cabinetry craftsmanship. Since this was our first home remodel, we leaned on his advice often--and many of his suggestions ended up shaping our home in the best way. Throughout the entire process, they went above and beyond. Anytime we had a vision, we could call Norman and the team, and they would find a way to bring it to life. Norman would come out, take measurements, and make it happen. When I wanted a custom bookcase, they absolutely delivered. That level of dedication and follow-through is rare. Wen also played a huge role throughout our remodel. From answering every question to supporting us through the final stages, he was incredibly kind, patient, and present the entire time. The customer service we experienced was outstanding, and the quality of the materials, custom cabinetry, and installation exceeded our expectations. You won't regret working with this team. It's rare to find people who care this much about their craft and their clients. We're incredibly grateful to them for showing us what true excellence looks like.

We have been putting off writing a review because we wanted to share pictures after completing our backsplash. Neither of us write reviews very often, but this job was such a huge success so we needed to give them props. We are just going to list off what we liked... 1. Our kitchen is larger than a standard kitchen where all the other shops quoted needing 2 slabs to get the job done. Budget was the only shop that recommended using a Jumbo slab for our kitchen which saved us $$. 2. All we had to do is text Ian a picture of our kitchen layout to get a quote. We had a quote that same day. 3. Phone conversations were great! We had some questions about the edges and the free kitchen sink size (30" vs 32") they were including and they were responsive. 4. Easy process to get the ball rolling. All we had to do to get job going was put down 50% of the cost to have measurements done the following week, then they were out installing the countertops 2 weeks after that. 5. They showed up to install when they said they would. We were told installers would show up between 8-9am and they arrived at 8:15am and were done with our install about 4 hours later. 6. Cleanliness was exceptional - they even put cloth down to protect our flooring. 7. Our experience was so great and have been telling our friends about them if they ever need new countertops. 8. We are going to copy and paste this review into Google as well to get the word out. You don't find many businesses that are this good very often these days, especially when it comes to construction projects:) Alex & Christina S.

We first learned about Wise Choice through Yelp, and although we were initially nervous about choosing a contractor for such a large job (they gave us the best estimate, by far!) without a personal recommendation, we couldn't be happier with our decision. They were great to work with throughout the entire process, from architectural and engineering plans, permitting, and the actual construction. The project manager, Sergiy, and foreman, Bogdan, were very honest, helpful, and responsive every step of the way. The project was completed pretty much on budget (with only a couple of unforeseen issues outside of their control) and on time. We love the results, and several people have commented that the addition looks like it should have been there all along. We can't recommend Wise Choice highly enough!

Just think how hard. It is to get the stars to align for this. A gorgeous art deco, petite, ceramic, art deco lamp. The seller had great reviews, , I paid $396.00 for it to ship from the Netherlands. No big deal I thought, my dad can easily rewire it and put a nice long cord on it. I was practically giggly when it arrived but but that quickly changed. It arrived broken and missing its head. My giggles quickly turned to tears. I messaged the seller. She felt terrible, my poor little lamp probably got manhandled in customs and lost the head. The seller felt terrible, she actually refunded all my money including shipping. That was a lovely gesture. I was determined to get the head restored. As I do with all projects I need done I ask Yelp. As always, Yelp did not let me down. As I recall, Jason at The Conservation Lab didn't reply to my quote request, I tracked him down. One art restorer quoted me $1000.00. Jason quoted me $275.00. I said yes immediately. I had actually poked around on his website and was really impressed with the quality of his work. Quite frankly I was shocked that an artist of his caliber was only charging me $275.00 for such a difficult job as recreating a ceramic head for my peacock lamp. But I'm grateful that someone like him is making art restoration accessible to people like me. I gifted him with a charcoal drawing I did. It took him about a month. This job was no small task. He sent me photos of the finished product. I was thrilled. It looked gorgeous. My dad picked it up to rewire it from EU wiring is USA wiring. My lamp came home yesterday, I put it in its place of honor and I plugged in. I just sat back and smiled. 2024 - Review #4

In short, this tile…read morecompany will lowball you to get the bid signed, only to nickel and dime you for what they deem as "changes" right in the middle of your installation. To give context, I agree that asking for something net new should be paid for. We changed our hearth cutout size by a few inches the week of, called their team and signed an understandable change order. The project started off well, we had a home visit to spec out all our requirements. We even had a CAD drawing of how we wanted the tile cut and installed. We got a bid, slightly lower than others, so we went with them. A few weeks later, the installation team arrived and began work. That was a little challenging because they didn't speak English. When we asked their support person about this later on, they made it seem like it was on purpose, to prevent us from making "changes." When in reality we were not asking for changes, we were trying to answer their questions about how the tile would be laid out or look. This company is obsessed with any opportunity to charge you extra, disregarding a smooth experience. The CAD drawing we provided them, and requirement we gave them at the start, instructed a specific 45° cut of the tile. Their work order had no note of what kind of cut they would use, one way or another, so we didn't think anything of it. Instead, WO only cited the square feet of tile to be installed. Right in the middle of the installation, we ran into a total of 4 issues that needed to be solved. All should have been planned for given our CAD drawings and their measurements/expertise. Clearly they are not good at the details, whether on purpose to get you to pay more along the way, or by accident. Neither are good reasons. We found ourselves stressfully trying to communicate to installers using Google translate, or intermittently getting calls from the office to straighten things out. The worst part is that they had to stop early on day 1 because a measurement for Schluter was wrong (something they should have noticed in their measurements). This seemed more like a leverage strategy, to stop work and get us to sign another change order to cut our tile the way we wanted from the very beginning. We pushed back on this second change order, citing that it was discussed at the beginning and not noted as an extra cost. The customer service was abysmal, disrespectful, and they told me that they wouldn't put the customer experience and relationship over their own mistake of missing a detail. You will always be the one at fault, they will always be right, and you will pay for it. Go elsewhere for your business.

This review reflects my personal experience with Modern Flooring in Portland. We had our floors…read moreinstalled about a year ago, and almost immediately we started having problems. Within the first week, the flooring began buckling. When the project manager came to look at it, he told us the issue was caused by not leaving enough of a gap for the floor to expand. Despite this, the company refused to take responsibility for the installation. Instead, they blamed the flooring itself, saying there was too much moisture. What made this situation more frustrating is that only one installer was sent to do the entire project, and he finished our whole house in just a day and a half. From the looks of it, it felt rushed and not done with proper care. We had purchased the flooring from Lumber Liquidators. Shortly after, the company went bankrupt, leaving us with no way to address the issue with them. Because of this, it felt like the installer placed all the blame on the product rather than acknowledging the possibility of installation mistakes. It also seemed like they were rushing to finish so they could get paid quickly. Now, only a year later, we're stuck needing new floors. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend using this company. Jeff and Kimberly

Unfortunately this time, we left very disappointed. My wife has a sensitivity to spicy foods. Upon ordering appetizers for the table, we asked if any of them (that had a spicy description on the menu) had the option to have the sauce on the side. She proceeded to ask how the scallops were and went ahead with that order. There was absolutely no description of having any spicy component on the menu nor any mention by the server. Upon her first bite of the risotto, she went into a severe coughing fit :( I tasted it and acknowledged how spicy it was. She proceeded to just eat the scallops. We were mostly done when the waiter came to check on us ... My wife asked if the dish is typically spicy. Response was "oh yes" ... It was completely lost on us why he wouldn't have mentioned that to her upon ordering knowing how she questioned the appetizers. His offer at this point was a new meal .. which was nice but we were mostly done. There really wasn't much in the way of sincerity beyond that. It seems the right thing to have done was offer my wife (celebrating her birthday) who didn't enjoy her meal ... maybe a comp'd drink or maybe a dessert (no acknowledgment of her birthday at all. When you spend north of $300 ... Disappointing to say the least. Upon leaving, I decided to just express my concern to the hostess and suggested adding the spice level of this specific entree to the menu. I reaffirmed my wife didn't get to fully enjoy her meal. I received a lukewarm "thanks for letting us know." The worst part of the whole experience was a manager/owner type was a few steps behind her, made eye contact and was fully aware i had an issue and made absolutely no attempt to come over and address the complaint. I no longer blame the waiter for his lack of concern knowing it flows from the top. We all go out and spend top dollar at nice restaurants for good food but also, for service and the experience. The restaurant has been opened awhile and maybe is established enough where this isn't as much of a priority as it was early on. In contrast, we went out the night before to a more established fave restaurant of ours in Portland (Ava Genes). Had an incredible meal, incredible experience, and uber attentive service. They even went the extra mile and made a big deal that we chose them to celebrate. Ended our evening with a simple complimentary scoop of gelato/candle. It was a nice touch. Certainly didn't mind spending the $$$ for that evening. I wouldn't dissuade anyone from trying The Cove if they've never been (I'm hopeful they just had a bad night) ... but there are so many good choices out there, it will most certainly make us think twice before going back.
