To be honest, I wasn't planning to ever leave, and only did because I thought they didn't take my insurance. So when I learned my eye doctor couldn't see me for my annual appointment for 3 months, I immediately checked back here and found both availability AND that they accept my insurance, so I went all in. I love the convenient location, fixed pricing for exams, ease of applying my insurance and the convenience of Costco optical right outside the door! Office is kept clean and comfortable. My appointment was right on time and the doctor was very efficient with the time. He offered good information about my eye health as well, and went one step further to share how he is able to support his patient's in the cast prescriptions, supplies, etc. run up sooner than anticipated. I'm super satisfied with this decision and experience. As far as I'm concerned, seeing this eye doc may as well be called a life hack.

So I called and asked what I paid for, not knowing it was my copay. I should have asked the first time before paying it ( my fault), and the receptionist that I spoke to explained to me what it was about. I asked to please cancel my contact sample. April 15, I called again and left a voicemail asking if I could please order contacts and see if I could just get the sample while I wait for my regular contacts to come in ( that's what I left on the voicemail). Then the same receptionist called back. And stated to change my voicemail to something that I didn't say ( I still have her voicemail), so I did go ahead and tell her I did not say that to please listen to the voicemail again. do mind this receptionist is rude not only when the first time I spoke with her but the second time around. I remembered her voice. If they have a voice recorder, I need them to listen to every conversation we had so they do not think I'm lying. I don't act rude to people unless they have a rude attitude. I hardly can go to Costco because one, I work at the hospital, and two, I have chemo treatments. This is why I called and see if she can help me. That day I called, I even asked if she can please print out my prescription and if she can please see if I can get a sample so when I have a chance to go in, I can pick them up. And she said yes. ( because what I'm wearing is my last pair) I never had a chance to go back for a while, and when I went to the optical department after work, a young lady there who was nice enough to try to help me to see if I had any prescriptions there, she said no, and no samples as well. I told her I spoke with the receptionist on 4/15 telling her that I'll stop by to order prescriptions and pick up samples. I even showed her the voicemail. So that lady went to the dr office to get my prescription paper, including my clear one, hoping she can ask the doctor to approve the clear one for me since she's the receptionist, but no, she wrote it instead (because I have Stigmatism ) The young lady came out and she said they don't have samples because it's every 6 months they order. I was so upset because that's not what the receptionist said to me when I spoke with her. When the receptionist came out she couldn't even look at me in the eye or talk to me to explain that the lady at the optical department was the one who had to talk to me. I won't make a scene I'm not like that. I just need her to explain what happened to her conversation with me on 4/14. (Still have that voicemail). I am just very disappointed. When I know I'm wrong, I say sorry. But I'm not going to say sorry. I've worked with people like that who act so nice in front of doctors but to other patients/staff they are rude or even talk behind each other and I can't stand those people. I can't tolerate that. I have been a patient of The…read moreReno Eye Clinic since 2014, when I got Shingles in my left eye, and his office was the only one my husband could find open on a Saturday. I was in such pain, as anyone who has had Shingles knows; but everyone in the office treated me like family from the first appointment. Dr. Hsueh took my hand, and told me "I will never abandon you." So I have been going there since 2014, and continue to be impressed with how compassionate everyone is there. And his technician, Shirley, is the best! She performs all tests necessary with patience and intensity, skills not learned in schools. She is extremely knowledgeable in everything she does, and I am honored to know all the staff there. Sure, they are now in what was once an animal clinic. And it does take time and lots of money to change that sign (!) When I had my first appm't at that location, I can say I pre-judged the place. But when I went inside, I was blown away! It is bright and airy, with lots of modern display cases for eyeglasses. There's a beautiful marble counter that wraps around, but my favorites are the sliding barn doors on each examination room. The staff are still wearing masks, even though the mandate has been lifted. But I certainly respect that, as I would not like to hear of anyone there getting any kind of illness. Oh, and there's plenty of parking in the back, where the entrance is, and most of it is in the shade. Dr. Patrick Hsueh is the most professional, and the kindest, doctor I have had the pleasure of knowing. And once you meet him, and get to know him, you will see a compassionate, humble man, who I hope never retires! This is the first time I've ever written a review of any place; but I had to put in my two cents worth in this case.

She consistently told me that she would send a referral to another place that does surgery. The surgery place said they never received anything so I proceeded to ask Susie if she could send it again (assuming that there were some technical difficulties). She "sent it" again and once again the other place said nothing was sent. I had to keep asking her to actually send it until eventually the lady changed her story and said actually she can't send a referral because they need need to have a record of me coming into their office for a certain period of time. This was a near month long process and she completely wasted my time, lied to me TWICE and showed how little she cares about her patients.

The folks in the office need better training to READ THE NOTES. I called and, I'll be honest, I rudely asked to be obliterated from the system. The online access and AI phone system said pending or shipped ... which clearly they hadn't. It took multiple calls to get answer. It took well over 2 months to get my glasses. That was at the start of the year. Now, 4 months later, the plastic covering over one of the arms slid off and is lost. I went in to get another one. After a few minutes, they asked me to come back later. Hello, I can't drive without my glasses. 25 minutes later after 3 staff people looked at them, they handed them back, said they couldn't fix them and maybe I can over the plastic for the arm online. I asked them why they didn't order it for me, since they slid the frame. They said they couldn't and just stared at me.

While waiting for a routine eye and contact lens exam, I overheard front-office staff discussing their office's daily average revenue compared with other locations and openly encouraging one another to upsell and cross-sell patients on ancillary services to increase revenue. This conversation took place within clear earshot of patients in the lobby. After my exam, I was then told I needed to return in 30 days for an additional refraction. Staff assured me (both in person, later by phone) that there would be no out-of-pocket cost - I had already paid for the full service through EyeMed, and the follow-up exam would be covered entirely by UnitedHealthcare. I confirmed this a second time by phone and was told the same thing. At the second visit I was assured again, prior to undergoing the examination, that the appointment would be fully covered and there would be no associated out of pocket expense. They proceeded to put me through another complete examination (all the same elements I had just completed 30 days earlier). Only after finishing did they inform me the visit would not be covered and that I owed $235 to be paid in full - including $100 for a contact lens fitting that never occurred because the contacts were not in stock. I paid once for a full exam and left without the prescriptions or services I had already paid for. Then I was charged a second time for essentially the same work, plus a $100 service that was never provided. Perhaps even more concerning, they also attempted to charge UnitedHealth for the $100 contact lens fitting that never occurred. Incremental revenue, indeed. Do yourself a favor and avoid this office at all costs.
