To a woman telling me over and over again that my mom doesn't have Medicare when she clearly does to leaving a message to cancel her upcoming appointment and have her records sent to another glaucoma specialist. With that message I requested someone call me back and of course they could not be bothered. This morning I called to make sure the appointment that I had left a message for over a month ago was cancelled and her records had been sent. I spoke to Avery rude woman. No, her appointment had not been cancelled and if I want her records sent to another specialist, I have to come into their office and sign them my self. When is it okay for the office staff of a doctors office to treat their customers like something they stepped on the bottom of their shoes. I do not recommend this office unless you like taking abuse.

After nearly a year…read moreof blurry, hazy vision, which I thought was caused by pain medication I was taking, Dr. Key took one look at my eye and said my cataract was coming back. Two different optometrists had missed that, and blamed everything from diabetes (which I don't have), to the pain meds, which is what I thought was causing it. I tried lowering the dose of pain meds, changing them, and any number of things, all the while not being able to see anything at all, which was heartbreaking to me. Everything beyond my face was blurry and hazy, which was so frustrating. I literally came home yesterday and cried because I could see the TV, and it looked like it did when it was brand new. I was reading all the signs on the way home, driving my husband crazy, just because I could see them again, the laser took effect that fast. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the logistics of the office. As others have said, appointments run at least three hours, and there's really no need. All the staff we've dealt with have been really nice, but we sit and wait for 30 to 45 minutes between one part of the exam to the next, when if they managed the time more effectively, the exam could all flow together. They also book more than one patient at the same time, when I signed in, the man ahead of me had the same appointment time, so I know they overbook, which only adds to the wait time. My husband ran out of oxygen, so he knows to bring bigger tanks when we go back for my follow-up appointment. That being said, when I went in for my initial appointment, Dr. Key gave me the most thorough eye exam I've ever had, hands down, and she found the cataract was returning, even though I'd had literally 4 eye exams after my eye started getting hazy over the past year. My old optometrist, who knew I'd had cataract surgery in the past two years, and knew it wasn't uncommon for cataracts to return, had no idea that was the problem, and had all kinds of excuses about my eyes (which is why he's my OLD optometrist,) so, I'm so thankful I found Dr. Key, and I'd highly recommend her to anyone who's having eye problems, even with the long wait times, believe me, my sight is worth far more than a few hours in her office!

When my son had the 'incident' we were a little confused about what to do. it was quite serendipitous that we already had appointment with Dr. Hong for two days later. He was accidentally shot in the eye with the desiccated Orby, and was fortunate enough that somebody on site had a family member that worked in an optometrist office. We got in to see her, and was immediately referred to Dr. Hong. Fortunately, there was no waiting as we had an appointment with her the next day. The office is wonderful, it is pediatric so clearly serves all of the youngsters. The staff put you at ease immediately, and there is plenty for the young ones and littles to do. The assistant that called us back was just wonderful. My son was quite nervous and scared, at 15. He would never admit that, and she was just very gentle and calming. Dr. Hong herself is amazing! She was so very thorough, disseminated a lot of information that was easy to understand. Made sure that he understood what was going on and understood what he needed to do to care for his eye. She explained everything so well, and really put us both at ease. An eye I injury can be really scary, especially to somebody so young with a lot of years ahead. She sent us out with clear directions, he was really good and following them. They had us back for a follow up and everything was looking better. We have yet to see her one more time for a final follow up, and hopefully close this file. For something that started out so scary, Dr. Hong put it at ease, and turned it into a far better experience than it could have been.

He was nervous to come in as he has never had his eyes checked and she spoke to him like her was stupid and kept sighing like he was an idiot. Berated him for being 5 minutes late when we were actually 15 minutes early but no one was there to help him so we left and came back and she acted like we were idiot children (in our 30s by the way). Also, don't make appointments for 8am then not have the door unlocked for 8am appointments that's asinine. If she were my front desk and a clients first impression I would be incredibly embarrassed.

After a few months of using my new spectacles, I noticed that my eyesight was actually getting worse. So back to Dr. Brewer I went to look at my prescription. What she found instead was that my cataracts had grown, and it was time for surgery. She then referred me to Dr. Caleb Morris at Nevada Eye Consultants. Nevada Eye Consultants is quite an operation, full of patients, doctors, and support staff. I was efficiently shuttled from room-to-room including another eye exam, some follow-up, 1:1 time with Dr. Morris, and the insurance person. This experience kind of reminded me of taking my then step-daughter to the Orthodontist to see if braces were required. The visit being 1 part Doctor and an equal part being treatment and financing options. I thought Dr. Morris was great and as another review rightly stated: From consultation to surgery day and follow up- professional, clean, communicative. Note that Surgery is done next door at the Eye Surgery Center of Northern Nevada.

Up front: I did not physically visit this business but was referred to them by my primary care…read morephysician. I developed eye floaters and periodical flashing lights in my left eye. This was concerning, so I visited my primary care physician on a Wednesday morning. He was concerned if there was a possibility of a detached retina and encouraged me to get an eye exam appointment in the next 24-48 hours. He suggested an opthalmologist and sent an urgent referral. He said to call the opthalmologist office to schedule right away. He also said that if I couldn't get an appointment to try an optometrist because if it's a detached retina, it was critical. I called the opthalmologist office and they said they did not receive the referral and that they'll call me when they do. So my next call was to the HMO's referral coordinator to ask what are my next steps. They found my referral and said they'll send it right away and that the opthalmologist office should have the referral in about 20 minutes. I called the opthalmologist office about an hour later and got their voice mail. Left a message that my primary care physician said this was urgent that I needed to make an appointment as soon as possible. I called again on Thursday and was told when their intake coordinator receives my referral, that she will call me. I called my optometrist but also had to leave a message. Needless to say, I got to see my optometrist on Friday and the eye exam didn't show a detached retina. I did finally receive a call from Family Eyecare Associates on Monday afternoon, and since I didn't need to visit, there was no need to schedule an appointment. Bottom line, I'm sure this business is busy, but does a referral marked Urgent make a difference? Who knows.

Depending on what building you go to there is a variety of waiting rooms. All clean and dimly lit (for eye care).
