Quite honestly this might be my favorite place I've gotten drinks at. Me and my friend checked this place out last night. The vibe was so nice. The waiters/waitress were extremely helpful and even more knowledgeable of the drinks on the menu. They were able to give descriptions of the drinks and help pick the right one for each of us. The drinks were delicious--truly an experience. They are not cheap but literally worth the price. We both had the burger. Honestly if I wasn't full I would've ordered a second one. I will definitely be back! read more

I was really excited to try the cocktails (we ordered the Hello Old Friend and Esmoquine) which were both supposed to spicy and booze forward. Ultimately both drinks were surprisingly syrupy and sweet. Next time I'll stick to wine but if you like sweet cocktails you might like it. The cheese plate was delicious, we also had the mushroom toast and soba noodle salad. Unfortunately, the service wasn't great. We would've ordered more drinks but our waiter never returned after our food arrived. It wasn't very busy, maybe team needs some time to get their flow. Overall, the vibe is cool and would make a good spot to grab a glass of wine before dinner somewhere else on M street. I wouldn't plan to spend the whole evening here. read more

Great atmosphere and drinks. Bartenders were very nice and. Informative. Only slight is that it is kinda crammed in there. They have a nice back section that has a library/speakeasy decor, but it was sealed off for a private party. But overall not a bad place to grab drinks. read more

Great service. Arrived without a reservation on a Friday night. we waited about 15 minutes for a table . the owner personally stepped outside to where we were waiting and guided us to our table. Drinks were delicious! I ordered their Karachi's return - which is a spicy drink made up of aperol, gin, red chilies, cumin and lime. My friend got their violet hour which was more aromatic. We ordered their pate - but it was very firm like hard butter. It needed to sit out for few minutes before softening. I would recommend for the chef to whip it up so it gets a bit more creamy and easier to spread. It also tasted slightly bland without the rock salts. read more

My most recent experience here is almost laughable: Reservation time: 6:45 PM Arrived on time and the server asked if they could have some time, as the table was not yet ready. I obliged and waited without issue. After ordering our second round of drinks (approximately 7:40 PM at this point), our server informs us that we need to leave by 8:15 PM, as the next reservation will be arriving then. By the time our second round arrived, it was 8:10 PM. At exactly 8:12 PM, our server came back to our table to inform us that the next party had arrived early and that we needed to go. Given that we witnessed the employees here do this to every single table while we were there, I will not be returning. There are too many great options in the area for amazing food and cocktails where they do not treat you like an inconvenience while charging you $40 a round. read more

Went with friends for a drink, one of whom reserved the back library. Beautiful ambiance and immaculate vibe. Started the evening off with some ground rules, of which being "please don't move the heavy furniture, but feel free to move the Ottomans around freely" by the hostess, Ivan. We had a great time, enjoyed well-crafted drinks and tasty desserts. This changed as we were getting our check. Our server came over, gave us the check and said "In order to sit here there is a $65 minimum per person and you guys are nowhere close to that, so I'm going to leave this here and let you guys work it out." We were stunned as this was not posted on their website, Resy, or the email that they sent us to confirm our reservation. They claimed they announced it at the beginning of the night, although we were with 6 people and none of us heard. The hostess and bar manager, Hakim, were rude and sassy. "Ok, we'll flag your account and you can leave" when we tried to explain. They came back with a new check with a forced 20% tip. I asked to speak with Hakim after we paid, to which we stepped outside. I sincerely apologized for the miscommunication and tried to explain. He interrupted me and proceeded to recite the spiel that they tell all patrons at the beginning of the night, claiming the $65 minimum per person was said without letting me finish. I ended the conversation feeling disgusted as I was trying to resolve the misunderstanding and was met with nothing but sassy remarks and rude interactions. All in all, I recommend they put the $65 minimum per person in writing on their website/Resy/emails to avoid this issue in the future. Their desserts, drinks, and ambiance were great; however, despite owning up to the miscommunication we received rude service and sassy remarks which were not appreciated. Will not be going back and I don't recommend you do so either as no one should ever be treated that way. read more

Cocktails were delicious. They have a posh backroom with relax big group seating. The food was good but just took awhile to arrive even tho it was not a busy night. read more

We just had cocktails, but the bartender was a bit pretentious. "All my cocktails are good!" And when my friend asked to leave egg white out of something she wanted to try, the answer was "I don't adjust my cocktails. Tell me what you like and I'll make you something else." Kind of douchey. The Library Room was cool though and our waiter was friendly. I might go back someday. read more

The food & drinks were great. No complaints there. I went with 3 other girlfriends- 1 caucasian & 3 of us are Asian. An issue I'm trying to understand today because it's been bothering me a bit is whether the manager lied to us last night about the back library/couch room being $75/person just to sit there. I was in a group of 4 ladies and we were closing out our dinner & drinks tab at our table. We wanted to stay for few more rounds of drinks and noticed the back library room had emptied out (around 10:30pm). My friend asked the manager if we could be moved back there for our next rounds of drinks and he said it was $75/person to sit there. I'm not seeing this reservation cost anywhere on their website or mentioned below by people who sat in the back couch room. The comment seemed strange to us at the time bc we had definitely already spent over $75/person for our dinner & drinks and were prepared to order at least 6-8more drinks. Was it discrimination? Something just felt off about the interaction with the restaurant. read more

I was so excited when I found out that they were still open! I came here for my birthday in September and the weather was still okay for us to sit outside. The bartenders are friendly and the drinks are well made. The decor/ambience inside is private and nice. I would definitely like to sit inside once this pandemic passes! Their drinks are pretty and they taste delicious. I like the ones where I cannot really taste the alcohol...but it makes them much more dangerous! I hope to come back in the future and try the food! We saw the food at the next table and thought it looked absolutely delicious. However, since they have outdoor seating...it can be really difficult to find parking. You will have to park farther and walk over, but it was not too bad. We had a 10 minute stroll and it was nice to see Georgetown as well! read more

Loved this cute lil cocktail bar! Expect to pay $15-20 for a drink but it's a very fun spot to try some cool cocktails. I saw someone else get a cocktail that was on fire. I ordered the Trunk Bay and liked it a lot. My boyfriend got the old fashioned of the week which had watermelon and walnut in it. We also got a small bowl of corn nuts that were good. The ambiance inside is very nice, the lighting is low, and the noise level is pretty low/average. They started getting very crowded around 7 so I'd recommend getting a reservation or coming earlier in the night. They also have actual meals if you want to do dinner and drinks. Our waiter was super nice and French and the service was excellent. Definitely come here and try some cool and beautiful cocktails! read more

I enjoy this little bar. The ambience is so lovely and private, the bartenders are friendly and attractive and the drinks are well made. I wish they took their food more seriously. When ordering food from a bar, I expect it to be straight forward and not fussy, but L'Annexe fails to deliver solid meals, instead it's a bit fussy, small portions and rather expensive. The drinks are marvellously fun! I go back often to sip the new concoctions they've come up with. You can even get cocktails to go! Yippee! I enjoy the more floral drinks. They always have something I enjoy and if I don't, they swap it out no charge. They know how to respect an old broad who might not have the palate I used to have. I highly recommend trying it if you've never been, or making a reservation if you're thinking of going back. read more

Great drinks and even better staff! Had a great time at the bar on a Friday. Perfect for date night.

Love this place!!! This is our second time here and I can't rave enough about the quality of service and cocktails. Cortland is an amazing bartender and Sam is such a great server. You will get exactly what you want here. We had 6 different cocktails - 3 of them off menu. Plus we all got the burger and fries. SO DAMN GOOD. read more

I discovered L'Annexe last summer and was excited to give them a try this winter only to discover they were temporarily closed. But it was just my LUCK that I happened to check the first weekend in March and they were open! I stopped in with a group of friends for drinks before dinner and they were able to seat us right away (pure luck based on timing because they were full of reservations but just happened to be able to accommodate us - shoutout to the sweetest hostess)! We asked for suggestions and wound up with the drinks pictured (I can't think of the names anymore). They were AMAZING. But what made it extra special was one of the managers coming over to speak with us and ask us our opinions on the drinks. It was clear that they have very caring staff from the frontline workers to management. It's a MUST VISIT cocktail bar when you're in Georgetown. I 100% look forward to visiting again the future. Thanks L'Annexe for the yummy cocktails and amazing service! read more

Cool hipster spot in Georgetown. Great bar tenders and great drinks. Be ready to wait as drinks come out slow. But it's to be expected.

Came for the cocktails, had a fantastic burger and spread, then learned the drinks are fabulous bc my favorite speakeasy bartender Hakim is now beverage manager!!! Wish there was more of a food selection and at least another dessert option. Place is small and meant to be a come and go after an hour so don't expect a long sitting experience. Our new favorite neighborhood bar. Only opened up 6 weeks ago, but already smooth service and on point drinks. The drinks - Tasty, creative and classic cocktails. They've put lots of thought into the little things - the ice, glassware, unique ingredients, and presentation - which add up to make each round feel like an indulgent treat. We overhead multiple guests asking the bartender what someone else's drink was...just to be able to tee it up for their own next round ("that's a Washingtonian, ladies"). My husband loved his lab old fashioned and their mocktails were also on point (the Yuzu, honey, ginger concoction they served me was out of a dream Sequence! Think I can now handle two more months of pregnancy). For me, great mocktails are the mark of a true excellent bartending team...since they can't just fall back on alcohol to carry the drink! The food - Lots of small bites and dessert options as well that looked as creative as the drinks. We'll be back to try these! The space - it's divided into three: tucked away back room, middle area good for groups, and up front bar where you get a front row seat to the drink making. Warm /low lighting - the type that makes everyone a little better :) On a Wednesday night, guests ranged from older locals coming in for a nightcap solo, to groups of friends in their early thirties. The service - Chris and Evan, the bartenders when we came in, are fun. Chris has opened the bar at Punjab Grill before this...and I'm glad Georgetown stole him away from Penn Quarter. This looks like a labor of love for them. They mentioned their dream was to start a great neighborhood bar - and this nails it. read more

Loved the cocktail menu. Peter went above and beyond to help us celebrate! Great service & a fun atmosphere.

The top-notch food and drink spot in DC, featuring expertly crafted cocktails, conveniently located in the heart of Georgetown. 5 stars.

The faux taxidermy in the back room is kind of out of place with the overall aesthetic? But otherwise the vibe is swanky and intimate with the right amount of moodiness. The service was great, and loved the fromage cheese board. The drinks were well presented and overall had a pleasant experience. read more

Had a fantastic experience sitting outside on a Saturday night. But why do they have to close at midnight? I swear DC acts like we're in Kansas. Cocktails are $16-20 and the menu is very unique and the drinks come presented very well. Our waiter Elijah was very friendly. read more

A cool gem in snooty old Georgetown. Cocktails and food hit the spot. Bartenders take pride in their work. Small place perfect for date night. I prefer sitting at the bar with my wife just to watch some of the bartending techniques and to see what my next cocktail might look like. If you are in Georgetown before you go to the bigger establishments give this small business a try. read more

Probably the best drinks my friends and I had last night! Super friendly server, wealth of knowledge in regards to the drinks, and even gave us some recs on Detroit styled pizza in DC . We just came for drinks before dinner. Blueberry Lavender Lemonade was the drink of the night! Super refreshing, with great balance of flavors and nice touch of mint. We also enjoyed the wild berry margarita and couple of their house old fashions. read more

Came on a Saturday night right at opening. Sat at the bar. Came in because drink menu looked great and interesting, but cocktails were so unbalanced and way too sweet. We tried four drinks and every one was too sweet and only one ingredient was really prominent. Would not recommend at all if you like good cocktails. Prices were also too high for quality of drinks. This place would not last a week in nyc. read more

We came to L'Annexe looking for Hakim's cocktails from Nocturne (a speakeasy we used to love but closed during COVID). We were so excited to see him and his cocktails at L'Annexe. Boy, we were wrong to have come. At Nocturne he would talk, tell you stories about how the cocktails came about, and interact with you. At L'Annexe he was off-putting, rude and even walked away we were trying to make conversation to let him know how much we appreciate his art and would like to know where he would go next. By the time we left a tip that in itself was double the total check amount, it was too late to realize how incredibly rude he was in general. We will never come back to any bar he will be working. We will come to great cocktails but will leave to any rude bartender that gives one a bad experience. read more

Nice quiet spot to grab an interesting cocktail. The young handsome Latino host was kind enough to ask people to move down a bar stool so we could sit together. Tried the Old fashioned bananas foster. It was amazing. Drink was so smooth ended up getting another. The bar has some cool driftwood hanging from the ceiling. There is nothing wrong with the setting it's very chic. They had three bartenders but unfortunately not much personality and almost no pleasant interaction with guests which is why I couldn't rate my experience higher. Water was served as we sat down but placed about two feet away. I thought that was a bit quirky. The one woman seemed bored to be working there and was so bland I nicknamed her little miss sunshine. A bald man made fantastic drinks but unfortunately also had almost no personal skills. Hiring an entertaining character that engages the guests and shows an interest would go a long way. The scene is upscale and classy and perfect for the neighborhood I just hope they up their entertainment skills a bit. Still would return for the amazing drinks but may consider an intimate table instead of bar. We ended up going to a rooftop cocktail spot nearby with better energy and nice views. read more

This place is loud, uncomfortable, and smells like old smoke. Couldn't get a server x 10 minutes - will not be back
