This was my first spray tan in about 5 years so I forgot how to use the machine but Sydney walked me through the positions, how to put lotion on my hands/elbows/etc. The room also was very clean. This is an odd little location. The space itself is old, and VERY dirty (see photos). It's also really humid and kind of smelly. I added a star back because the woman working the desk was very nice. And I felt bad for her because she was on her own, dealing with broken machines while also having a line of about 10 people at the door when I left. read more

This is one of the worst locations of LA Tan I've come across! The beds are broken, the buttons on all the beds are so worn out you can't tell what each button does. EVERYTHING in this place is old and smelly (including the towels). I've also left 3 messages for the manager to call me about a broken bed and never received a call back. I never write reviews but this place is that bad!!! The only good thing about this place is the front desk person. My partner went to this location and I'm writing this review on his behalf. He went to tan for the first time in over a year and he asked for a stand up bed. The employee put him in a level 3 for 6 minutes and almost 3 days later, he's still extremely burnt and some blisters are forming. I previously worked at a different LA Tan location, and it's the tanning consultants responsibility to make sure their customers are tanning safely. Very disappointing that the employees at this location aren't concerned with people's safety. read more

They close their spray tan machines over 30 minutes before closing, according to the woman at the counter when I came in at 5:35. She said they already shut them down, they close at 6. Deeply regret going to this location as it left me without time to go to any nearby locations. Unfortunately will now be pale for my sisters wedding, lol. I got a membership here because I was desperate before my wedding. There's one guy that works here that's great, everyone else seems like they just asked a person passing by to sit behind the desk for a second while they went to grab lunch. I've been in one room with a mirror that shows me from the chin up, which is odd since I'm not short by basically any standard (except runway model I guess). All the other rooms have a hook on the wall and a random metal chair to put your clothes/belongings. Every bed and stand up has a minimum of 8 bulbs that don't light up. The floor is always sandy. Unclear why. Over all, I got a base tan for my wedding which was the goal so that's where the stars come from. The thing that subtracts stars is the fact that it's just pretty skeezy. It's a tanning salon.... you can only expect so much. I go here at the same time almost every day and at least 3 times a week and the same person is always working there but somehow she can never remember my name.. not the worst thing in the world but hey, a little customer service would be nice occasionally. I usually tan on level two and if it is full, I'm always told in a rude way that all the level two beds are full, it's ok, I can wait, not a big deal! All in all, would just enjoy a salon with a little better customer service. read more

I tried a pedicure at Fahrenheit about a month after it opened. The location and the interior were awesome. The whole place is decorated in white and hot pink and looks more like some kind of snazzy new club than a tanning salon. Everything was brand new and very clean. The lady who did my pedicure was very friendly and did a pretty good job, although I did wish that the set up was a little different. They use regular chairs there, which although comfortable, are just not the same as the special spa chairs they use in most nail places. I didn't use any of their tanning beds, but I think that if you live in the area and can afford the initiation fee (which I believe is upwards of $50) this would be a really nice place to go, especially since it appears to be relatively unheard of and there probably would never be a wait. In the hour or so that I was there I only saw a handful of people come in. The only reason I'm not giving it more stars is the price ($35 for a regular pedicure). I feel like there should be a little something extra if you are paying that much, but all in all it was a good experience and I would recommend it, if nothing else, just to see the unique design. read more

I can't believe the amount of negative reviews on here. I've always had a positive experience at this location! I used to tan at the location in the loop before it abruptly closed. The associates there never remembered my name. At this location I can go a month without tanning and they remember me! If my usual bed isn't available, they're quick to find a different bed that meets my needs. I love it here! read more

I should start by saying I have only left 1 negative Yelp review ever. This is my second one so that should say how awful of an experience I have at this location. Horrible service every time I go here. Unfortunately it is the only tanning place open near me. Google says that they open at 9am. So I showed up and went inside. No one was at the front desk but I could hear someone in the back. I patiently waited and ended up taking a seat. I proceeded to sit up front for 10 minutes. I kept calling back to see if anyone was coming. After 10 minutes I decide to leave. That's when I notice a printed out sign on the front door that says they open at 10am. Why in the world are the doors open then? And why do they still have the normal hours on the front door NOT EVEN covered up? The printed sign was toward the top of the door too so why would I notice it? And why would they not change the hours on Google? And why did the person in the back not come up to tell me they weren't open yet? Every time I come here the workers are not friendly at all and this is just the icing on the cake. I also had a friend experience the same problem at the Old Town location. Management needs to figure something out. In all my years of tanning I have never had this horrible of customer service. Even before when I've been, they have been zero help in helping me decide which bed to use and how long to tan for and seem very untrustworthy if they do. I got fried earlier this year because someone recommended the level 3 stand up bed for too long of a time even tho I hadn't been tanning all winter. I will never be coming back here and will be taking the train 30 minutes to Hasted Street Beach tanning instead. Update: now looking online it says 10 AM. The prices are decent. Beds are ok. This location is small. Today I went there after not being there in a couple weeks. The store was under construction and they only had a few beds available. I asked what they were having done and when the construction would be finished and was told they can't say how long it will take and they are "just getting some work done." K whatever. The girls who work your have absolutely the worst attitude and always treat you like you are a burden to them, I don't think they realize they're in the customer service industry. This location tends to close at times during regular business hours without any notice or reason. The spray tan also breaks down regularly and if you pay like I do a month at a time you are totally wasting your money. I've been tanning at various LA Tan's throughout Chicago for over 3 yrs. I started going to the one on Clark St. last summer. Never had a problem... until December 2008. Their staff is now consistanly late. The door says "Hours of Operation 10:00am-10:00pm" but it should say "Hours of Operation whenever I feel like getting there- whenever I want to leave". It's ridiculous. I've gotten there at 10:30am numerous times and the door is still locked, no staff in sight. If you open at 10:00 you would think your staff should be there by at least 9:45, even 9:50! Nope, not this place. I've waited outside for over 10 minutes on a few occasions just because it's hard to find parking in that area and once you do, you don't want to just give up and leave. I would say that they are not open on time at least 3 days a week, and I know this from going there and leaving 3 times in one week. Like I said before, it's ridiculous! And the kicker: If one of their extremely unpleasant employees show up while you're waiting outside, they're not only RUDE to you like you did something wrong, they act like it's a burden for them to do their job. Those are the people I'd want working for me. Great people skills. An A+ in customer service. I would like to email their corporate offices to make their employer aware of this, but their website seems to be a little out of date and there is no contact information available. I think I get S.A.D. in the winter so I am guilty of around this time, sneaking into a tanning salon to get a little bit of rays and not to mention...I so deeply miss the relaxation and heat of the tanning beds that I did in early college years when it was still cool. I have been to this Clark st location twice. The first time I was greeted was very un-memorable. The girl was unfriendly and didn't help much. But I tried the store again and was pleasantly surprised and happy with the service provided by Charlene. She was very informative about the deals they offer and which is a better option. She also gave me details about the machines and she was just all round helpful. I only use the spray tan services. The first time I used the Versaspa classic and came out quite dark (level 2) but not very even. This time round I did the Versaspa Pro and got a much better result. Even tan and it has extra pre-moister and after treatment sprayed. I was a lil lighter (level 3) but it looked more natural. ( I have English skin so I am very pale.) I looked at their $10 spray tans on Monday was considering doing that every week which works out cheaper than $50 per month but the downfall with that is the $10 tan is only for level 1 in the basic tanning both. So it really only costs me $12.50 per spray tan (level 3) if i do it four times a month. And it's in the pro booth! $50 contract has no fee when canceling after 3months. You can also use this contract at any location. Happy so far! read more

I recently switched from the Walton location and started going here after I discovered it's slightly hidden presence on my way to the nearby Jewel. The staff seems nice, albeit, young and not 100% knowledgeable (particularly about the new "red light therapy" bed.) That is a minor complaint, but thought it would be worth noting in case anyone was curious. They listen to requests about lotion and order it if it seems to be a popular request, which is nice. The beds are strong and deliver great color. I've only had 1 issue where the bed wouldn't turn on and I had to wait, naked, for 5 minutes for the girl to get all the technical difficulties straightened out. Terrible customer service, blonde woman with pony over charged me for masks that I asked about from a previous purchase weren't even on the shelf. She was extremely rude and condescending tone. And the place had NO ONE in there as she was chit chatting with the other girl who was no help. I asked about lotions and she laughed. This place will go out of business if there is not the right action taken on this. Definitely not going back after today. Fahrenheit went out of business and turned into an L.A. Tan. My experience here is similar to that of the Gold Coast Walton St location. The staff isn't all that professional and the mystic booth has problems. The atmosphere is at least much cleaner and brighter than the walton st location. Last time i came in for a mystic, i got in the booth undressed and it wasn't working, and they were having computer issues. The girl working there had to call her manager over to the store to fix the machines. I've just experienced countless problems here. My advice: go to Palm Beach tan. They are much more accomidating and the staff actually is informed and knows what they are talking about! read more

Facility is gross and meager at best. Very poor for being downtown, not to mention pricier than other locations. I've been to this one twice, purely out of convenience. It was the same employee both times, who didnt greet but went, "LAST NAME?:" as I walked in. She seemed annoyed as she looked me up and I felt rushed to decide on a bed level, especially when another customer showed up. She said I might have to wait about 15 minutes. Now problem, I went to the bathroom and came out to see if a room had opened up but she wasn't there. There were a few new people waiting. So I walked back to the bathroom to find my gloves, and on my way back the girl's standing there and goes, "Have you been in the bathroom this whole time?!?" in an extremely rude tone, "because we were ready for you like 10 minutes ago!" Ok so by this time I'm frustrated because I've worked in customer service and I would never question someone about their bathroom usage let alone be so rude. Then I go to get in the bed and it's filthy-I have pictures! Its not hard to wipe down a bed-or at least make it look clean- I know, I've done it! When I start tanning, I try adjusting the settings and realize the face light button is off and won't go back on so I peek out and look for the girl. I tell her and she's like, "THERE'S NOTHING I CAN DO. ONCE YOU'VE STARTED THE BED THE LIGHTS WONT GO BACK ON IF YOU TURN THEM OFF. THERE'S NOTHING I CAN DO." I'm like you've gotta be kidding me! So I get back in and the time is still going so I try to relax, and about a minute later, the face lights go back on! Guess there was something. Not to mention she had my gloves, and if I hadn't asked for them I wouldn't have gotten them back. What a miserable person. read more

I was hesitant to come to this place... I haven't been tanning in over a year and frequented a different salon but i recently moved to the area and this was the closest tanning salon to my place(15 minute walk). Honestly I was surprised when I walked in.. the vibe was far from what I was expecting having read the reviews. It was super busy(not sure if it's always like this) and I was a little intimidated because I had a million questions. The girl at the front desk(Macy I think her name was) was super sweet and helped me out so much! I really appreciated her taking her time with me and all my stupid questions lol. She told me to start off with 7 minutes in the level 2 bed although it goes longer, thankfully she convinced me not to do the full time even though I wanted to...7 was definitely enough!! There was another girl working i didn't get her name but i overheard her explaining exactly what she does to achieve her color tan to another customer who asked which I thought was cool and you could tell she knew what she was talking about. Overall i got good vibes from both girls. Not sure if I came in on a good night or what ? but needless to say I'll be back soon. Thanks again read more

I arrived at 8:15 and Jillian (a short blond girl) told me that they couldn't fit me in to spray tan. The worst part about it was that I called to see what the last time was to spray tan and they told me 8:30pm (they close at 9pm). Then, I wasted time and money (had to Uber), trying to find another place that was open to spray tan. Luckily, I found a better location. I guess they don't need my business... and to think, with Covid, that a business would turn a customer away these days. I guess they're doing so well. I honestly do not know where to tan anymore.I pay for the highest level .The bed they give me at this location does everything except actually tan you.It has uber sexy music and literally pretty lights but that is it.This is supposedly the "highest level" I usually only tan once a week .I went two days in a row and had no results.I also spend a lot on supposedly the highest quality lotion,at 140.00 a bottle i have had results but oddly never at this location recently. I ignored the bad reviews as I have worked in customer service my entire life and i know there are two sides to every story . Anyways ,it always hurts to fork over the over priced amount for the supposedly "high end" tanning lotions ,but i do and i do notice a difference . However ,for the first time in over 10 years of tanning ,i actually am certain i was sold a dupe.I purchased what i thought was the same lotion that i just ran out of that rendered amazing results only to suddenly get no results ,no not on the lousy weak bed they would tell me was level five,but using this fake lotion they sold me at actually other locations that i had more consistent ,long term results with. I might add i suffer from mthfr genetic mutation and have severe vitamin deficiency ,I can feel immeiietly in my mood when a tannng bed is functioning as they say it is. I am hyper sensing ,and regret not trusting my gut instinct and staying away from this location as it is more convenient. Sadly ,something here is terribly wrong . A The lotion they sold me was not the same and i thought i was puchasing the same bottle i had just ran out of that worked like magic.Whatever i bought was NOT the same ,the proof is plain to see. This is SO sad ,in conjunction with now not even having a higher level of bed or any bed for that matter that is functioning ,I am confused ,what is the point ? The bed they gave me supposedly was the highest level ,the first time i thought perhaps i had not pushed the on button ,and the attendant who (i feel sorry for who always has been very nice to me)showed me how to supposedly make this bed "work" it did not even heat up it was that bad. not even a level at all I have always been very polite and nice ,i pay 60.00 a month 140.00 for fake lotion this location that i purchased from this loctaion I regret not saying yes ,when the niice male employee offered to fetch a new bottle from the stock room . I miss ultimate exposure so much even if it was in the basement with the Mr .Milleniial aireless bronzing lotion that was worth every red cent and the real deal .
