Everything about this location is excellent. I have been a customer for years (tanning for 20+). Moved my membership from Texas, to Oklahoma, and now Illinois. Palm Beach Tan always has the best beds and customer service! The ladies and gentleman at the front desk are welcoming, offer new products, and recommend the right beds if I haven't been in lately. Once I left my phone in the room and the attendant stopped me as I was leaving to give it back to me. Another recent time I left my wedding ring, engagement ring, oura ring, and two diamonds rings on the hook in the room. Within 2 minutes of walking out of the salon I received a call to notify me of my mistake. The rooms and beds are always clean. The only things I would recommend is an earlier opening time at least once or twice a week. read more

I have been a Palm Beach Tan customer on and off for many years at this location. Always before going to sunny locations, so I don't get sunburned my first day in the sun. My experience with them has been exceptional. I have dealt with Nicole who has always been welcoming and has always given me the best info when signing up with them. I have been with PBT since 2013. I worked for the company and managed 3 locations in the Chicago market. PBT prided itself in the customer service that it provides to its customers. I know this because I have firsthand experienced the extensive training store managers go through to provide and coach their employees to do so. Since moving on in my career, I remained loyal to Palm Beach Tan as a consumer. It saddens me to write this message. Anytime I go to Palm Beach Tan, there seems to be an issue and the inability to solve to solve any issue or question that arises. The staff is extremely unprofessional. I called into palm beach today CHI008- Clybourn Commons in Chicago to address and re-activate my frozen account. This past year, I was unable to come in and use my account. I'm a healthcare worker and work extensive hours. With the inability to come in due to the pandemic, I decided to check on my account since it has been frozen and I have had tan dollars accumulated on my ledger for YEARS. I called the store. The tanning consultant, Larissa, picked up the phone without providing her name. She then sighed and looked up my account. I asked her to peak at my account because It's frozen and was looking to re-activate my Diamond EFT. She said that my account was terminated and that I had no accumulated tan dollars and provided me with no customer service or resolution. I asked her specifically what she sees when she looks on the left side of my ledger and she said that my tan dollar accumulation says "0.00" and that my ledger balance is $55.00 because of the termination of my account. I asked for Larissas name and I requested a call from a manager and the she hung up. She then called me back a few mins later saying that she looked through my account and said that my TanDollars expired because I have not been in the store since 2019 & that they expire after not being used within a year of accumulation. I told Larissa I was going to reach out to corporate and she said "ok" and hung up on me again-simply unacceptable. This is a ridiculous statement. Considering my last visit at PBT was December 2019 and soon after the pandemic happened- quarantine made it impossible to come in. The statement about the tandollars expiring was not true when I worked for PBT and I have a hard time accepting that my accumulation of tandollars was taken away without notification or by some swift change in policy. I know the operations of the store and I was dumbfounded by this experience. I have been frozen for years and I know that tan dollars never expire. If there was a change in policy then its very unfortunate that the company does not do adjustments due to the pandemic. Typically, after a year the balance of the tandollars decreases by a monthly rate. Especially, considering the pandemic, quarantine, and lockdown. I would love to continue visiting PBT But every single interaction with the employees in the Chicago market leaves me with a bad taste my mouth. Every time I visit a store I have to mentally prepare myself because it never ends well. I recommend to improve the customer service in the stores and coach these employees on good customer service. The customer consultants use improper rules and deceive their customers and just plain rude. I will no longer be visiting Palm Beach Tan and advise anyone using their services to be aware that their practices/rewards are inconsistent. read more

I have been a PBT member since 2005 and have had nothing but great experiences there. The regular staff at the 2065 N Clybourn location is wonderful. Ainslie, Taylor, Larissa are terrific and it's great to have Megan back from the Clark street location. Today I had a totally different experience. I was greeted by Sierra who told me she was new. When I scanned my ID she told me I had a $250.00 balance. I called my credit card company and they assured me that my payments to PBT had all gone through including my most recent one. Sierra, being new didn't know how to help but told me that after my session someone would be there with more experience to assist. After my session I encountered Savanna. As I was trying to explain my problem I noticed she wasn't paying any attention to what I was saying because she was watching a video on her phone. Disgusted, I left. Ugh, Palm Beach Tan, what is the deal with your facilities breaking on a regular basis? I really feel like I can only deduct one star for this because I still totally love this facility more than the other on Broadway, but let's get with it. Several times this summer I've arrived at this location ready to get my Mystic on and something has been broken. Twice it was the power of this shop - it was just completely off. I'm not sure if they blew a fuse or what, but the rest of the strip mall was perfectly fine, so something is wrong with Palm Beach. Then this evening I drag myself out into this ungodly August cold snap only to find that all of their Mystic machines are - conveniently - broken. Yay! How is that? Why is that? What is the deal? Just the Mystic booths? Why all of them? Did someone blow some kind of fuse that connects all of them? I don't even know how this kind of thing occurs. So I'm highly irritated that this kind of bizarre breaking seems to happen at this location often. You guys really need to get with it or something. I really, really want to keep coming here but I'm not going to make the irritating drive just to find that something is broken and the facilities are unusable. I still like you, Palm Beach Tan. This location is still so much better than the other because of the free parking and the staff is still friendly. This place is very nice on the inside, & the employees are usually nice. But i haven't had good experiences here & i feel like the prices are a scam. For an unlimited month pass, whatever level, on TOP of that price you pay a $20 fee. I put a "hold" on my pass (because it automatically charges you every month unless you cancel) & the hold still charges you a few bucks a month, when i asked if i could take the hold off of my account i was told I would have to pay the $20 fee on top of the monthly fee again. I'm not sure what the point of a hold is if i pay these charges every time. I hate writing nasty reviews & it's not against the employees, the prices are just ridiculous. I wanted to get a couple tans before my big wedding day in Mexico and the young lady working explained I could "sign up for a whole month and it will be cheaper." Little did I know Palm Beach would charge me a monthly membership fee each month thereafter even after I explicitly stated I have no desire to tan after April 2010. I will note that Palm Beach ended up refunding my money after minutes of grovelling from me. With that said I'm still not impressed with the overall attitude from the staff. read more

I would visit this establishment just for the visuals. I got a sweet package (hee hee) for Mystic Tan, as my pale skin and my patience level just won't go for a tanning bed. The Mystic Tan takes getting used to, but I do appreciate that I can walk in, get tan and walk out before the song ends on my personal stereo inside the tanning room. The best reason to visit this place is the mystifying tanning products above the cash register that have the most blatantly sexual names. YIKES! So I had only been to the nicer, newer Palm Beach on Broadway. I was surprised to walk into this one. I felt as though I was in a time warp. Everything was old and moldy. YUCK. I really like this PBT location for the following reasons: 1. Super friendly staff 2. More Mystic Booths than the Broadway location 3. Free parking 4. Somewhere to hang your purse and coat in the washroom. At the Broadway location the bathrooms are unisex and I thought they were here too. The facility is clean and the folks working there are all very friendly. Management however is another matter. While I still think this is illegal, they allow pre-purchased tan visits to expire. I can think of no other business that allows gift cards or any other package of services to expire. Even Groupons must be honored to the extent they were paid for. When I spoke with management they extended me two weeks - I had 6 left from a 10-pack purchased in March of this year. I don't need 6 tans in two weeks in the middle of July. Finding Palm Beach tan has been a life changing experience-- an exaggeration maybe, however, up until last summer I had not worn shorts since 2001 because my legs were always so pale. But, Mystic Tanning changed that-- they promised an even, natural looking, non-orange tan, and they delivered! I was able to reclaim shorts! The staff here is friendly, the place is clean, I have never had to wait very long, and the parking is free and plentiful! I could not ask for more. One warning: They will try to sell you the Hyper Moist product for "deeper, darker, tan," however since you use your hands to put on the Hyper Moist, you will end up with a "deeper darker tan" on your palms, which looks a little creepy. read more

I joined Palm Beach Tan to prepare for my upcoming trip to Florida, and was not disappointed. After I got over the shock of dropping $100 on my first visit (first month + start up fee + lotion), I do enjoy coming here. The place is clean and all of the girls working here have always been very friendly to me. I tried the stand-up bed for the first time today and one of the girls made sure I knew where everything was in the room. (I still wasn't a fan, but that's probably more of a personal choice.) Not super cheap, but definitely a nice place. Very convenient with easy parking that you do not have to validate. And next to petco so I can make both trips at once :) read more

Its a tanning salon, its clean, it gets you tan, what else is there really to say... + Palm Beach has lots of parking + many different bed and package options + they offer free mystic tans your first time + when you sign up for a package you get a free lotion starter kit with goggles The only downfalls are they get really busy during peak times and how they try to upgrade you constantly, but ehh guess that's their job, just smile and say no thanks ! read more

I am very frustrated with my overall experience with this company. I have been a loyal customer at the Clybourn St. location for approximately 3 years. Every winter I freeze my account and then unfreeze it come spring/summer. Long story short - one of the team members didn't properly freeze my account, so my credit card was charged incorrectly. This happened back in March. It is now June, and, even though I'm told I'm not getting charged to make up for their error, my credit card continues to get charged. When I call to speak about it, they staff sounds uninterested and annoyed with me. I'm at my breaking point and will most likely be cancelling my account if this situation doesn't get fixed. read more

I love Palm Beach Tan on Clybourne! Samantha helped me the first time and was friendly and informative. I've done both the VersaSpa and Mystic and had amazing results with both (I used medium shades--my skin is very light). By the way, Samantha described the difference between VersaSpa and Mystic--even though I'm a fairly experienced spray tanner, she was dead on. VersaSpa has less likelihood of errors and has a more pinkish glow, whereas Mystic stays on way longer and tends to be a bit more orangy (but still looks great!). She suggested VersaSpa for my particular event and was totally right. However, before I went to Mexico, I used the Mystic and it lasted all week! Easy parking, I was in and out very quickly, and the facility is very clean. They are my new go to spray tan facility in the Chi! read more

I do the VersaSpa sunless tan like it's my job. I don't want cancer, and Mystic is an annoying process and smells terrible. PBT is the only place that I know of that has Versa. It's expsensive, but, to me, very worth it. The staff is friendly. They do push products, but I've never had a problem saying no to them. I also really like that they have a parking lot (when I tan I want to get in and out quickly). read more

I have only spray tanned once in my life, for my wedding, and my sister brought me here (she chooses their location for all her special events). I was very skeptical but the woman working was super nice and walked me through everything. Went early Saturday morning, no wait, and everything was very clean. They do offer buy 2 get 1 free deals, but they don't mention that the free one expires relatively soon (30 days) after you buy it - can't imagine that is very helpful to a lot of people. read more

Wife and I have been members for years. Come to this location for one of their level 4 beds that isn't at most stores. It's been broken for 2 months now. Every employee just gives the "I don't know what's up" story. Emailed the manager Erin about this, didn't get a response. Met her in person today, and she tells me she can't email back from that email account so that's why I didn't hear from her. But you could from another email account, right? Instead of attempting to apologize for any of this, she becomes rude, tells me to just use something else, makes the excuse that they're busy opening another store, and passes me off to some district manager who probably won't be able to figure out email either. They're not interested in keeping their equipment running or taking care of customers they already have. This place has gone downhill since Samantha left. Absolutely horrible customer service. They're losing our business and the business of a few others I shared this with that are members. Plenty of other options in the city who will appreciate your business and the significant amount of money spent here. Look elsewhere and spend your money elsewhere, you can't do worse than this place. Update: responded to Penelope below, twice, with my contact information. Nothing back in a week from them. I have been tanned at various locations but was extremely disappointed at this one. At the old location across the street, everyone was so nice and I appreciated the customer service. I will never be returning and will be taking my business elsewhere as I dealt with an incredibly rude woman today. Not only did she try to sell me products when I told her multiple times I couldn't afford it, but when I was no longer interested she was rude to me. Ok, the people working here are starting to get ON MY NERVES! I just went there to tan a few times prior to going to Florida. To get my skin used to the sun. I usually don't go to the tanning salon. I don't want to look all tan during winter. Anyway, they talked me into two month of unlimited tanning. It is cheaper than single sessions and they had a deal going on so I said yes. Thinking that was it and I was good to go was wrong. He just didn't want to stop talking, trying to sell me a $50 tan intensifier. It took me 10 minutes to convince him that I do not believe in these expensive little bottles with smelly lotion. Then he handed me a sample size bottle but still wanted to charge me $5 for it. When I said no, he tried to tell me I am ruining my skin. Yeah, right. I tried going to a different location the next time, hoping they would be less annoying and again that girl tries to sell me lotion for $50 and she wont let me go tanning before I buy a $8 sample bottle (still wondering WHY I did that just to make her stop talking). I was just thinking to myself, 'girl I really don't want to look like you. You look like a roasted Barbie'. I mean, how do they train these people? Do they teach them, if the customer doesn't buy lotion, don't let them go! Never! Make them feel really bad about it so they think they will get the worst sunburn possible. Besides their super annoying staff, I have to say that the place is clean. The five music channels to choose from play never anything I like but I can live with that. I went in an bought a membership for myself and my son. It was intended for one month only. At the end of the month, my son went in to cancel and they told him I had to come in and sign a form to cancel. I went in to sign the form and knowing that my sons was considered his own separate account, I made sure to ask if both accounts will be cancelled.....their reply was YES! So next month they are still drafting from my account, I called and spoke with them and the response was I need to come back and talk with manager. Folks this has gone on month after month after month, I call, I go in, they call me back while I am at work. But all the while they know, and I make it clear.......just close the account. Not only are they not voluntarily refunding my money for unused months but I finally had to cancel my bank card to stop them. Two month later and here we are and they are still trying to take money from my account!! Palm Beach Tans this is outright theft!! And don't you reply to this and tell ME to contact YOU!! By gosh you have my bank account numbers, I know you have my damn telephone number. Do not give this place you bankcard info.......pay cash or walk away. And if anyone would like to see my bank statement where charges were made and then where they are still trying to steal money.....I will show you. BEWARE! read more

Ugh. Thank god for your huge parking lot, PBT. It is your saving grace. Pros: ample parking, A+ for cleanliness Cons: STAFF, price, very long wait times for mystic during peak periods, STAFF, STAFF, STAFF I have nearly wanted to stab every single person I've interacted with that works at this Palm Beach. Everyone has a HUGE attitude and they oversell packages to the point of it being awkward and obnoxious. I typically only like to buy 1 tan at a time, maybe a 3-pack at most. This is sooooo not ok with them; they act appalled when you insist on only buying 1 tan. [Side note: buying only 1 tan is also atrociously expensive, which is why I noted price as a con]. My favorite time was when I caved in to the skin cancer and went in a real bed instead of doing a mystic tan, and the employee I was working with told me that "all of the sample size lotion packets are $8-$10", handed me one that he claimed was "his favorite", and promptly informed me "that will be $11, please". When I politely said "Um, you just said all the lotions are $8-$10" he literally just stared me in the face and said "No I didn't. Ugh, I guess I can find you a cheaper one if you don't want this. Here, I guess take this one... it's decent". Yes, thank you for the "decent" lotion. At this point, my goal is to be good and avoid tanning just so I can avoid giving this place my business. read more

The staff here is absolutely unreal. They are the rudest little girls I have ever dealt with. The store manager, Samantha Zuelke should be ashamed of herself for allowing these children to treat an adult like they do. Perhaps they're trying to be a snooty upscale tan salon? If so, they're doing a bad job. I vow to use up the remaining tans I have there and to never step foot back in that place. This is the Palm Beach Tan I go to 99% of the time. I love these girls here! The customer service is great, always very clean and the girls are all in sync with one another. So you don't get asked the same question 14 different times and they think out of the box with things. The manager is awesome, I have a package there and when I first joined I got a free Mystic Tan session (the spray tan) I went to use it and whoops it was expired, I had waited too long. She told me no problem and gave it to me anyway. That to me is great customer service! Sometimes I go early morning, the girls in the morning are aways great and remember my name. My favorite is Jessica! Today I went and she remembered something I had said to her last week! To me Palm Beach Tan on Clyborn is like the Nordstrom of tanning places! read more

The girls who work here could not be more rude. They are bitchy and aggressive and make you feel bad for coming in to tan. One chick pressures the shit out of you to buy packages, upgrades, lotions etc. They should all be fired and the location should rehire a new staff who doesn't make you feel like a piece of shit for spending money so they can take home a paycheck. I've been coming here since 2007 and love this place. They have the best equipment hands down and the staff is really great.

Basically I am going on a cruise in a month and am super pale so decided to go to PBT because it is like two blocks from my work. The only time I have ever tanned was when I lived in Europe and it was a much less regulated totally different experience. I really like this place. I bought some package where I get unlimited for a month and three mystics. I have only gone once so far when I bought the package, so I will probably update this review at a later date. So far so good though. The guy was super awesome and helped me pick out a package and they know where to start you off, they keep a log of what bed/time you do so that I don't have to think about it which I like, he also sold me this really nice lotion, it was super expensive but it is awesome, I am kind of a chump for buying it but I had the money so there you go. Right off the bat I told him that I wanted to do the mystic but was really scared that it would make me look like that girl Snookie from Jersey Shore. He promised me that it wouldn't, so I am going to give it a try after work today. I am a little less scared because a girl at my work (with the exact same skin tone as mine AKA pastey as hell) has been doing the mystic and she looks great. I will update like I said, and if I end out looking orange I will give my hair a nice poof and move to Jersey. read more

This place is worth the drive from anywhere in the city. It is the cleanest tanning salon I have ever seen. The employees are always friendly even 20min before close on a Friday night. These guys are THE BEST. I left my favorite/ very valuable necklace at Palm Beach Tan- one of the girls found it on the bathroom floor in a corner. They were so so sweet when I came back to get it. Great customer service- they walk you through every step of the tanning process and spend as much time as you need choosing the right level. It's really clean and user friendly.
