My go-to spot for a spray tan. I don't come here very often, maybe once or twice a year before a special event. The spray tans are great. They never turn out orangey or streaky, and the machine is straightforward and guides you through the whole process. It is really quick from start to finish! The tan typically lasts about a week. This location is great because there is a parking lot (rare win in Chicago). It's not usually busy, so you can get in and out pretty quick. The staff working is always kind and welcoming. I have been a Palm Beach Tan customer on and off for many years at this location. Always before going to sunny locations, so I don't get sunburned my first day in the sun. Being from Florida, I have tanned a lot in my day. I went in for a basic spray tan and ended up being up sold from $37 to $67. The tan was visibly splattered all over my skin. I was made to think that optional products were necessary, which is surprising because I'm a seasoned tanner. On top of all of this, I was put in an extremely outdated machine. I started going here a few weeks ago (never tanned before ever) and all was good until last week when I developed this infection on my eyelid hours after coming to tan. I voiced my concerns with the manager Meg and she basically told me there was no way it could have been from the goggles. I asked her to show me how they were sanitized and she shown me these buckets (all 5 inches apart from each other.) as we were speaking a woman client came out of a tanning room and put the goggles in one of these buckets herself which leads me to believe it's not as sanitary as I first thought. I asked if the manger thought it was a good idea to keep the clean and dirty goggles so close to each other and she said it's so it saves them time when cleaning. I think these types of corners shouldn't be cut because as you can clearly see my eyelid is very messed up. read more

I'm now a lobster. I went in for a base tan before I went on vacation. The roly-poly girl convinced me to do 5 minutes as opposed to the 4 minutes I wanted but then the machine stayed on for 8-9 minutes. As a patron you have very little control of your time other than maybe setting a timer on your phone and leaving while the machine is still on. I did set a timer on mine. But the machine was so loud I couldn't hear it when it went off. It's now the next day and I have the worst sunburn I have had in years. This increased time was probably due to the fact that I went into the wrong room at first because they didn't show me to the stall I was supposed to be going. The whole process took about 45 minutes to an hour of screwing around. I dressed and undressed about 4 times. Pretty sure that's not supposed to happen. They also do an annoyingly hard sell of the lotions after you tell them you aren't interested. read more

They provide goggles, very clean and really nice to everyone. They have so many beds and a huge variety to pick from as well. Their beds are state of the art and kept top notch. I waited almost two weeks to write this review, because I reached out to customer service in hopes that someone would care enough to listen to the major issue I had with Palm Beach Tan. 3 days until someone will get back to you? It's been two weeks. That alone is a 1 star. I came here with a friend to try their 4 free sessions. I specifically called the day of (a few hours before) to ask exactly what they needed. I was told the coupon, and ID. I asked 'is that it?' and was told yes. I even called an hour before leaving my house, something told me that they weren't telling me something. Again coupon and ID. We arrive and after being looked at like we were beneath the employees, we were asked if we had any sort of lotion on. I said yes, just over my tattoos which I had done at other salons without anyone giving me the 3rd degree. I was told that I shouldn't have did that and shouldn't have even bothered to come in. Why? I have 4 tattoos I'm not Kat Von D, I wasn't covered in sunscreen. My friend did have some sort of lotion on for tanning and they asked her for proof. How does one PROVE they put lotion on before coming into an establishment? Especially after 1 calls not once, but TWICE to make sure this kind of thing wasn't going to happen? They basically made it clear that they wouldn't let us tan without lotion so we had no choice but to buy theirs. $10 for a pack of bronzer? Are you kidding me? We were told that it was required, I'm from FL and have been to many salons and NEVER have I been told this kind of bull. Sure it "helps" your tan, but isn't that my choice is I want to lay there without bronzer? I think so. All in all, that bronzer that was supposed to be so helpful actually made me have an ALLERGIC REACTION. I reached out to customer service about this for a refund and an explanation for the awful service, nada. Moreover, for anyone who hasn't used bronzer before you have to stay perfectly still and not rub up on anything in order for it to not streak you. So FORCING people to buy that and then knowing they'll end up with streaks everywhere from laying on the machine makes no sense. Making a $10 sale is obviously more important than how their clients are going to come out looking. Spend your $20 elsewhere [don't bother with the coupon], get good service and not have people treat you like you were born yesterday. Oh and I WOULD have come back had they actually been decent enough to call me about this, but conveniently they didn't even try calling me or emailing me before my free week expired...convenient. read more

Eh, not this biggest fan of this place but I go because it's the most convenient location to support my Tanorexia. I'm from California and we know how to tan! This establishment sucks compared to my old salon in Cali for which I paid the same $99 per month membership price. The beds are inconsistent, but the worse part is the staff. Now, at one point I was frequenting this place everyday, but somehow every time I went in the same staff members acted like they'd never seen me before. Yeah, I know these places have tons of customers and can't remember everyone, but at least act like you recognize me! I also feel like some of the girls don't take pride in their appearance. A lot of the time they look like they just rolled out of bed after a long night of partying, greasy hair and all. I will say that sometimes I go to the Diversey location and the staff is much better there. In any case, I can't really recommend PBT, but I can't really recommend anywhere else either. This is a nice tanning salon. I went here for my yearly S.A.D. disorder that I have diagnosed myself with. I was in need of some cancer causing rays and I was able to get them here. There is a disasterous parking lot if you need it...however I usually just find either cheap metered parking or free street parking if you are lucky. The chick behind the counter was nice and helpful. She sold me on a package that will be good for 3 months instead of their normal 2 months. I have only tanned in the Silver bed. I went for 8 mins and the next time 10 mins. I got some great color with only two tans :) They also provide eye wear for free so you dont have to drag out your old goggles from 1980. She gave me the hard sell on tanning lotion, but I always say no. Overall, its a clean, nice tanning salon. I will go back for my S.A.D treatment read more

This place is awful. I moved to the area a month ago and asked that my membership be transferred from where I moved. The first girl had no idea what I was talking about and tried to sell me a spray tan package. Why would I buy a package if I already pay for an unlimited membership...? She claims she'll pass the message on to her manager. Next day manager has no idea what I'm talking about. Says she'll take care of it. Next time she no longer works there and it's a new girl. My "free spray" that Michaela "forgot" to offer cost $12.50 because of the "extras" that I was not given a choice as whether or not I wanted ....in spite of the fact I was clear I didn't want them!.. I spent 3 of the 7 days an odd color at best....double bronze and mystic- not a good combo,....I tried one more time but the advertised $14.95 spray was going to cost $34.95 for the "Membership Fee"...All in all I recommend either going in there with all the facts and a VERY firm attitude if you can't find another tanning salon read more

I should asked before hand how much the lotion was, so that's on me. I go here solely because it is so close to my apartment. But I am pleased that this is the closest salon to me. It is always clean and I hardly ever have to wait for a bed. The staff could be nicer, I guess it's sort of hit or miss depending on who is working. I don't put too much emphasis on the staff because you deal with them all of five seconds while checking in. And they always wish me a goodnight when I leave. The only complaint I have is that more often than not, there is at least one broken bulb in my bed. This can get very annoying. But overall, I think it's a great salon and isn't too ridiculously priced. I would recommend! read more

Walked into Palm beach today looking for a membership for the summer. Definitely will be coming here. Taylor was extremely helpful and nice. She walked me through the entire store and broke everything down for me. She spent a good amount of time with me going over how each membership worked and even the time length in the beds. I know I wrote about the Clyborn location a few weeks ago, but good Lordy I can't leave the Lakeview -north Clark Street - out. I absolutely love coming into this location. Taylor, Amanda and the rest of the ladies already have my membership pulled up, the bed I want cleaned & ready to go, and a friendly conversation going the minute I walk in the door. I no longer live in this area, but anytime, and I mean anytime, I can justify coming to the Lakeview area I have to come to the N. Clark location. Taylor and the team are highly efficient, super cleanly, and extremely genuine. Oh and the beds are top notch, solid tan with one Diamond bed visit. I have been attempting to sort an issue out with this company. I have had one phone returned, I called back left a voicemail and never heard anything again. Their Illinois "customer service" number prompts you to input a meeting code and I have had to file a complaint with the BBB in hopes of someone actually calling me back. By far, this is the worst customer service and company I have dealt with. Current and potential customers should absolutely consider going elsewhere. I have been visiting this salon for awhile now, just get base tan before vacations, and a spray tan before special occasions. I used to avoid this salon because of the poor management and the pest problem.(even if it is the closest to my office). I had many unpleasant experiences there with the old management and came back when I found out they finally got a new team. I must say the cleanliness and customer service has improved. The girls that work there finally seem knowledgeable and like they actually care about their clients. The reason I'm giving two stars is purely based on the salon. My last visit I just wanted a base tan before going to Cabo with my fiancé, the girl at the front (seemed new) was extremely helpful and suggested products that I wouldn't think of, not only lotion but tan extenders as well. Unfortunately I didn't get to tan as soon as I got to my room I noticed bugs, AGAIN! And I mean everywhere! I felt so uncomfortable! I informed her about the issue and she was very empathetic said they have been trying to fix it for awhile? She apologized for the inconvenience and told me she would inform upper management? I mean come on. We already have to deal with the homeless people harassing us in the parking lot with their pet rats! and now bugs crawling up and down the walls!! Plain and simple, close the location! Keep the new staff and provide a location that's up to par for all the clients and the quality staff. read more
