I've been coming to this salon off and on for a few years. It's closest to my house which is the only reason I will go here. Most of the staff is fine but there is one girl is absolutely horrible every time I've encountered her. She's always on her phone, talking or watching videos. Hardly pays attention when you're talking and worst of all she will close the salon when she feels it's convenient. This has happened to me on a Friday 4 times (I know should learn my lesson coming here). It's 6:30, I take an Uber here mind you and she tells me they're closed. Door is not locked. It will her it's not 7 yet, your online house say open til 7, she just rolls her eyes and mutters she's already cleaned. All whole she's on her phone. Tanning in the city! Yep, it's a thing. I have a package in the burbs for spray tanning and honestly didn't ever realize I could use it in the city. Well, you can apparently use your LA Tan packages at any location. Woohoo to having tanning close to home! Now I'm used to my usual LA Tan where they all know me and are so friendly & helpful at all times. The service when I went to this location was bare bones. Also they don't have the VersaSpa Pro, just the old school spray tan machine. It gets the job done but it's not as light & natural looking as the Pro plus that means no moisturizer after. However, you get that tan in their spray machine you're after so it works! ha! : In a bind, this small location gets the job done! Keep in mind the parking lot is also very small & a bit hard to maneuver in & out of. read more

"If you can't TONE it, TAN it!" The motto I live by. :) I like to keep a base tan most of the year and thankfully I have LA Tan to help me achieve that. This location at Damen/Armitage is a little gem. You can grab a tan, a slice of pizza and a manicure - these stores are all squeezed into this mini mall. And somehow I have always found a parking spot in their teeny parking lot! But by far the best part is the lovely staff at LA Tan. Manager Christina has always been helpful with tanning promotions, knowledgeable about each bed, always friendly and always smiling. It's a cancer box place - what more can I say? There is no level 2 standup booth at this location (as opposed to North Ave.) and the level 3 is way too hot in there for me so I stick with level 1. There's no music inside any of the beds either - kinda sad. For $24.99/month and considering that I might go about twice a month - they are getting the better end of the deal but that's ok - it's all about convenience to me (they're next door to Bien Assorti) and I have no time to sit around outside. I've been coming here for years, The place is clean and the staff is always friendly, but now with shorter hours until 8 PM a few days out of the week and the latest time that you can get there is 20 minutes before eight. I get off at seven and can make it there by eight so now I am forced to either cancel my membership or travel a lot further to Halstead which is open until 9 I go twice a week but with these hours I can only go once that's on Mondays when I'm off. read more

This place is great! The ladies at the counter are professional and nice and the equipment is kept up and they have a machine for any kind of tan or level you want. The prices are affordable and anything that breaks or burns out is fixed quickly. Gold star! Just a note that the weekend hours are wrong on Yelp and they open an hour later than it says. read more

Good intro rate of $9.99 for the first week (7 days) of tanning... Clean, decent beds, small (can be crazy after work) parking lot. The usual tanning place staff; young, pretty, very tan girls reading magazines or books. Altogether friendly though. Package prices are pretty good, and rarely a wait... Good place to check out in Bucktown, parking is a plus as its a bit tough over here...there is a nail place (Bien Assorti), 7/11, and pizza place in the complex. read more

I do the 2x a month spray tanning here. It is great, and I feel glowing and healthy looking after! Nikki is a doll, she is knowledgeable and very helpful! I did the 5 day unlimited tanning for $15 and went to 3 if their locations, the level 1 beds I used weren't the best but I paid $15 and they are their lowest quality beds. Unbeatable deal! Clean, nice and attentive staff on Ashland, Damen, and Broadway. Yes they are pretty and in their early twenties, but they were not ditzy or dumb.. I was disappointed in a lot of people's views they portrayed in their reviews!!!! Maybe you should have talked to the staff before you judged a pretty girl. read more

Okay, so I'm too busy to lay around by the pool like I used to, and I know tanning is bad for you, but if you are going to be naughty, do it at Tancun because this location is run by the nicest people ever. They are always super pleasant when I indulge. It is obvious that they own the place because the customer service is first rate. The beds are immaculate and the place in general is very calming and clean. I've had a bad experience at Ultimate Exposure (a week is apparently only six days there!!) and after going to Tancun, can't imagine going anywhere else to tan except maybe the French Riveria or the Carribean...but thats a whole different story! Edit note: They are becoming a LA TAN but they assure me they are doing it for the co-op marketing opportunity and they will continue to run and manage it as is! Thank God! read more

This is the 6th time this has happened to me. I take a lyft from my house to the salon which says the store is open at 9am. I paid $12.00 to get there this morning and once again no one is there.... There's no sign that says closed, the hours on the door show they should of been open... There are some girls that work there that are nice but I don't understand how this company is still up with the constant change of employees and how I've dealt 6 times with going to tan and no one shows up for their job..... The owner must not care for his company since he allows this to happen..... Sending an email to corporate the least they can do is credit me back what I paid to get there since people decide to not come into work.... read more

I went in for the $5 tuesday special. I had to wait 30 mins for a bed. I was not clear, nor was I explained, as to what all of my options were. I think my bed was a level 2 rather than a level 1 because I burned. Ok I did not burn a little bit, I am lobster red and it hurts. grrr Maybe it is my own fault for listening to them and not asking more questions. The beds were okay. My fans were not working, or maybe I just was not explained how to turn them on. I hope they were disinfected properly. Needless to say, I am a tad disappointed by my experience. I have not decided if I will go back. Addendum: it is almost a week after I went tanning here. I am still bright red, blistering, and peeling. No fun. The customer service is always very good here. Yes, they try to sell lotion & packages, but they also aren't pushy about it. The front desk is always smiling & professional. The blonde guy who works there is my favorite, he's unbelievably sweet! The facility is the problem. Literally every time I tan in a stand up bed, there are burnt out bulbs. They say the bulbs are replaced regularly, but I find that hard to believe. I was also upset because they have different summer hours, & the updated hours are not posted on any of their websites or on the Internet at all. They close an hour earlier in the summer, & I wasted two trips before the front desk informed me. read more

The manager is a rude woman who chooses to argue with customers rather than act professionally. 2. The tanning beds are pretty nasty - including lots of hair and dust/debris. 3. I'm done. I came to LA tan for a quick tan one weekday and i was greeted by a girl at the front desk with an orange skin tone, she was nice, but i was hesitant because of her tan. Well i did it anyway, it wasnt bad actually. I think if you want to know more about what they offer you have to ask very specifically because they dont just tell you everything i guess thats the only bad part about this, oh wait, yeah i remember, i knocked out one star because it wasnt as clean as it should be, also i went into one of the tanning rooms only to find a nail on the floor, im glad i saw it because i probably would have stepped on it when i got out of the tanning machine. phew! other than that, the customer service was great and my tan is very light, i plan on going again. read more

I was disappointed to find out that they only had level 1 beds and a level 4 bed as I tend to use a level 3 bed and my membership is for level 3 beds. But I had leftover tanning dollars so I was able to use the level 4 bed. I probably won't be back to this location because of not having the level of bed I like but I reccomend it if you're just starting out tanning or a level 1 bed is okay for you. The salon itself was nice and very clean, good magazines to read if you have to wait and the staff was helpful in pointing out that I had the extra dollars to use. read more

Will not be coming here again. On more than one occasion, I've walked out because of their lack of customer service. During the most recent visit, the attendant was assisting two clients who were in front of me. They were enrolling for memberships and purchasing lotion, eye wear, etc. I'm already a customer and wanted a single tanning session. The attendant proceeding servicing these women for about ten minutes before I left. I understand they are maybe short staffed, but isn't there a way the computer can start up a single bed after checking me in? Maybe not, but regardless, the attendant did not acknowledge that I was waiting or that "she would be with me shortly." The deals are good, but I'd rather have better service. The location in the loop, on Madison, is amaaaazing. Love the girl who works there--she knows my name and is always in the best mood! read more

I love this LA! They always have the nicest employees working and I almost never have to wait for a bed. Their manager remembered my name after about a month of tanning and she is always nice when I come in. They are one of the only LA's that I know of where you can tan on any level bed for certain "free minutes" no matter what membership you have, which is nice if you're looking to switch things up a bit. They don't try to sell you crap that you don't really need and they are actually really helpful when you have questions. The only downfall would be the parking lot (i try not to park in it if I don't have to) but I rarely have problems finding parking on Damen or one of the side streets, so its not horrible. I tried to give up tanning. I really did. But after two years my will power has broken, so I set off to find a tanning salon near my new apartment. Pretty much anyone who tans in Chicago has heard of LA Tan, but I was an Ultimate Exposure girl in the past. If you're new to tanning, spray or UV, this LA Tan location probably isn't the best place to start. Before recently signing up for a monthly membership, I came to this location for a spray tan with my male roommate (I'm a chick). I'm pretty easy-going about random beauty treatments, but as a straight male dude headed to a music festival in Miami, my roommate was pretty freaked out that things would go terribly wrong. He went first and his Mystic spray tan came out chunky-an experience that rightfully scared him. The two girls working had zero explanation and obviously knew nothing about spray tans. They couldn't even tell us that the tan color would actually kick in hours later (we came out of the tan looking basically the same pale color). They also didn't explain the importance of the barrier lotion, leading to his nails to be stained yellow until they grow out. I signed up for a monthly membership the other day, mostly due to the convenient location. One of the girls, the even dumber one from the spray tan mishap, was working. She tried to explain how the monthly fee is deducted from your card on the 15th each month but basically talked in nonsensical circles. She then profusely apologized about how confusing the billing process is. Nope, the only thing confusing is her inability to understand her fairly simple job. Luckily I'm not stupid and I knew what she was getting at. I've gotten basically no assistance on what would be a good tanning bed level and length of time for me, but luckily I've tanned in the past and can figure it out on my own without burning myself to death. If you're new to any kind of tanning, I highly suggest a different location. LA Tans in general might be okay, but I haven't had much luck with the employees at this location. read more

I love this place! Nice staff, strong beds, therefore I'm happy! No hardcore upselling either. That's a plus. Only complaint is the parking lot. It's tiny and sucks to get in/out of. That's not really the salons fault though. I only do the $5 tan Tuesdays, so I don't really have any useful input on how this particular location handles their memberships. If you're a once in a while tanner come here! Great color in one session. Their beds are clearly regularly maintained. read more

This place is near my salon and i needed a little winter pick me up. The women was very helpful in navigating my options as its been years since I've tanned. Luckily new guests tan 4 for $4, in any type of bed, but not spray tan.....She was very nice. The place is clean and i was very pleased with my first tan. I just wanted to give sam a shout out for truly being great at her job. I rarely tan but am in between vacations and trying to extend the life of my tan. She was knowlegable, friendly, and honest....which is a true rare find these days (esp when it comes to tanning lotions lol). Every single person who walked thru the door sam found a way to accomodate with a smile (even a very pushy woman who was upset she had to wait for the bed i was waiting for already). Don't go here for a spray tan! I followed all of the steps the man told me. When I came out of the booth, I had dark brown liquid dripping in multiple spots. When I asked him what I should do, he said, "That's not supposed to happen." Since that didn't really answer my question, I asked him again what I should do. He said "it will be fine, but if there's dark spots, just put a little bleach on a q-tip to get it off." I wasn't very satisfied with this answer, so I asked the lady that was working (who was in front of the store smoking at the time). She said, "I don't know. That's not supposed to happen." I went home and quickly showered before any serious streaks set in! read more
