I've been to this Sephora a couple times now. Each time I go, an employee comes up to me to ask if I need a basket or ask me how I am every 2 minutes. I asked an employee about a product and suggested multiple products from a different brand I wasn't asking about. Later, I see the same employee suggesting the same products to three other customers. The parking lot is a mess. I parked in the garage around the corner and went into Sephora. I checked out and got a validation sticker. I tried to leave, but it wouldn't let me. I press the help button. I wasn't aware of the three dollar fee to park there even with the validation sticker. Ok three dollars is fine. I tried two different cards and it said error each time and told me to press the help button. I was already talking to the people from the help button. They were very rude and impatient. I try paying the $16 fee and it still said error. Eventually they asked for my name and phone number as well as the ticket number in order to let me leave. By this time it had already been 10 minutes and 5 cars behind me. This parking garage is a nightmare. read more

Just came in for an exchange and this place is always packed! I was helped very quickly so the staff and service are good. Only issue is this store is SO HOT. In the back towards the skincare there's air conditioning but other places like the makeup area and the perfumes it's at least 10 degrees warmer and on a day like today where is feels 75 the store is almost unbearable. My 6yo was sweating just being in the store for 10 min. We had to leave quickly- it was a hot box. I hope they can figure out the AC / circulation situation before it gets warmer. This location is unhinged to put it mildly. It's close ish to my office so I pop in sometimes but after today (and frankly the past couple of years) I will go out of my way to go to other locations or just shop online only. I came in today while running errands and just wanted to peruse and look at a few things and like so many times before I felt irritated. I get hounded by employee after employee (how many employees can you even have at one store Jesus Christ) literally every two minutes even though I nicely say I'm ok I'm just looking. I feel like they're either DESPERATE for commission or think everyone is stealing and make it their mission on earth to stop it. I was not stealing I'm a longtime rouge member and sometimes I just want to look at products. I've been hounded and followed many times before but today was the worst. Im neurodivergent and get overwhelmed by the overstimulation in that store so I try to just remain calm at the constant following/hounding/same question over and over again (can the employees not telll each other that someone is just looking?!) I was asked 4 times in 10 minutes by the SAME EMPLOYEE if I needed help and the last time she asked I said "no I'm fine, please just no" with my hand up because I was overwhelmed and she in an obnoxious sarcastic teenager type of response said "JUST CHECKING IN!" And I said "OK BUT SOME PEOPLE GET OVERWHELMED!" And walked up to check out because I had enough. The funny thing is I was a personal shopper at a few department stores and boutiques for years and would never dream of speaking like that or hounding people like they were stealing or that they NEEDED TO TALK TO ME. Back off and re do the employee pay structure in your store because it's turning your employees into literal animals. Be careful when parking. They tell you that the North/Sheffield lot is the one to park in, in order to get validated. But I parked in the wrong garage that was, in my defense, bigger and easier to see, as well as on North and Sheffield (both are at that intersection). There was no additional color in stock in the eyeliner I wanted. This is not the end of the world, of course, but it's also not the first time it's happened here. Things are often out of stock. At the counter, without buying anything, I asked for my parking to be validated, but I had used the wrong garage. I get that this is my fault, but I wish they had been clearer on the phone. I had to pay to park in order to walk in and find that there was no product in stock. Not terribly convenient! Firstly, it's all paid street parking in front and a paid garage around the corner. You can try to find free street parking a couple blocks away but it might be difficult on the weekend or during rush hour on the week days! I've been lucky enough to find free parking a couple blocks away. Now onto the actual store. It's smaller than other Sephora's I've been to, but this is one of my favorite Sephora's to go to. The staff is always so friendly and helpful. I can always find what I need here. You can grab free samples from most products you're interested in trying. They always offer you your rewards at the cash register if you have enough. This time around, the cashier offered so many free samples for both me and my boyfriend! I stopped by this location recently for a little retail therapy and to pick up my b-day gift. I was browsing NARS glosses when an associate ran up to the display and opened a drawer which almost rammed me in the pelvis if I hadn't jumped back. How could she not see me standing right there?! She completely ignored and almost knocked me over! I even yelled "hey!" Dang, I know I wear the Ivory shade in my fav Benefit foundation, but I'm not that see through! I stood there, tester gloss in hand wondering what the heck just happened. She still ignored me as she dug around the drawer. The customer she was helping even looked confused. I put the gloss back and went up to the counter so I could get my gift and leave. That experience was enough to make me not purchase what I had planned on. The associate at the counter asked if I found everything ok and I told him what happened. Pusher Lady was still digging in the drawer, so I was able to point her out. The associate at the register was so nice and apologetic. He called over another associate (not sure if she was the manager) and had me tell her what happened. She said that was unacceptable, and went above and beyond to make the situation right. I have had a very unique and notable soft spot for Sephora for many years. It began while visiting the mega store on The Champs-Élysées, in Paris prior to the 1998 stateside opening of the prestige brand superstar and purveyor of glamour. Although, the goal of an International retail chain is to have the same presence at every location there are still attributes and certain elements that vary from each store. What? Well, the staff- that's about it. This is why I now LOVE this store. I felt like I was greeted and assisted in an outgoing and comfortable manner. The staff was very approachable. It was not as if someone glommed on to me or when I walked every five feet someone jumped out with that glassy-eyed sales look asking "Can I help you find something??" Nope, did not happen once- they probably get paid a living wage or something!! Also, Angie (The Store Director), whom I chatted with briefly, was really down- to- earth and readily made me several samples to try at home. I had to exchange a product and it was no big deal. I simply picked out a gorgeous shimmering eyeliner and got the remainder in a merchandise credit. Actually, the colour is from the Sephora line; Glitter Brown Long Lasting Eyeliner ( a liquid) WOW- gorgeous. ( And I am picky.) This store is my favorite Sephora in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs- hands down. It only comes in second to, you guessed it- The Champs-Élysées, in Paris. Today was to the extreme when this specific employee looked at us up & down, followed us, & kept bothering us when we literally were not paying her any attention. Commenting on a foundation we were swatch testing that I'm sure she's never used, commenting on our drink & food bag? Just commenting on random unnecessary things to try to "deter" us from "stealing" because we're Hispanic. My sister & I regularly spend $100+ at Sephora, & have too much going for ourselves to get caught up stealing makeup LOL but because we're POC it's assumed we steal. I understand theft happens but to specifically target POC because in your mind we steal makes you look like an insensitive person. Here I go again writing reviews of weird places I visit. This review is actually just for Keenan, the skincare expert at this Sephora location. I've been to Sephoras across the country and chatted with skincare experts at many of the locations. They usually know some facts and have a few go tos but literally no one, I mean no one, has ever given me even 10% as thorough skincare lesson as Keenan. He spent 20-25 minutes with my friend and me going over issues and providing solutions. We walked out of the store dropping double the amount of money we planned to because he made us promises that he could fix our redness, dark under eyes, and uneven skin tone. Money well spent. I tried my new mask for the first time last night, took it off, and was like meh, sort of worked. Woke up this morning radiant af. It worked as well as a professional service and my face feels excellent. I also learned all these new fun facts about skincare and make up, what to look for in products, and have already sold 2 of my friends on my new mask (hey Sephora, lemme get some referral dollars). Basically, if you want to look good without paying for a full chemical peel or whatever, go visit Keenan. This was my first time in this Sephora, how is that possible? Because it's on North Ave. and I rebuke that area! Okay, I get it, it's some shopping oasis, whatever...it's a lot. It's too much. It's loud and chaotic.It's a headache. But the North Ave. Sephora was the only one not sold out of the products I wanted, so here we are. I was greeted immediately and everyone I spoke with was very friendly. It was busy, but not too busy. No wait time whatsoever. I got matched quickly, which almost never happens with me (I'm in denial about my yellow undertone). They even taught me a thing or two about contouring/highlighting and now I'm shining bright like a diamond (yes, I was looking for Rihanna's makeup like every other makeup loving woman in this country). One sales associate recommended a product to help some blemishes I have....way out of my price range but now that I know what helps, I'll look for cheaper. I appreciated the insight. I'm a regular at Sephora. I've been to Sephoras across the country and find they can be hit or miss. This one is mediocre. The sales people stand around in huddles talking to each other while customers look in need of assistance. On the particular day I went, i was looking for foundation. I tried one on and asked a sales person what she thought of the color match. She said it was fine. At that point you would think she'd recommend other colors--especially since helping me find the right match means SALES for the store. Nope. She just let me wonder aimlessly. I tried other foundations and solicited the help of other sales people. I got similar disinterested responses. In the end I found the foundation I wanted (Lancôme) but not after practically begging for their feedback. They can keep my VIB membership. Don't waste your time here. read more

The only reason I'm even giving one star is because I don't think I can give less! I was in the store on Saturday around noon. I witnessed a woman with her three mixed race daughters shopping. The mom asked the woman at the counter to hold an item for her and her daughters were waiting by the counter. The salesperson treated them like they were going to steal something! I just shopped at this Sephora and it was extremely uncomfortable. Only one woman working there was approachable and she was incredibly nice and helpful. She is tall and blonde, wearing super cute earrings:) (didn't catch her name). All of the other employees were constantly staring at me. When I was smelling perfumes a man was watching me as if I was going to steal something or that I couldn't afford it.
