I had a great experience here. Came in with a couple girlfriends for the Groupon deal (we all got the 2 No-Chip Manicure deal). Irma did my nails, and Michelle did a back-and-forth with my two friends. My appointment took about 40 minutes, but Irma did a great job-she was very meticulous, if she noticed she missed something she went back and fixed it. She was patient while I picked my colors and changed my mind (and then suggested doing both colors, why didn't I think of that myself?!) I'm only on day 2, but the no-chip is holding strong. Michelle was friendly as well, and even though she was doing both of my friends' nails at once (and one had a no-chip removal), she kept things organized and never got frazzled. We had a great time chatting with her about the salon (it's a newer-ish location) and how she was planning to decorate it. The color selection was maybe a bit limited-they had a lot of bottles of color, but many were very similar hues, so their selection didn't exactly cover the spectrum. I found something I liked, but I could see if you went in with a specific color in mind you might be disappointed. They also serve coffee/wine, which is a nice little touch. I'll certainly be back (even after I use up my Groupon!) read more

Trust me... get a dazzle dry manicure and pedicure with Erika! I cannot say enough good things but I'll try... I switched to dazzle dry from gel a few months ago and my natural nails have never been healthier, longer, or more well maintained. I'm really hard on my nails and my dazzle dry manicures from her last 2 weeks, and I love that I can take it off with nail polish remover in between if I want (instead of going back into the salon). She has like 200 dazzle dry color options too so I'm not stuck with the boring pinks either. Her pedicures will leave your feet feeling like baby feet because she gets all your dead skin off, even between your toes. My boyfriend who generally hates all this kind of stuff wishes he could get a mani/pedi from Erika each week. Erika's attention to detail is amazing and she's also just a delight to hang out with (it's so nice to get a service from someone who is a GOOD human). read more

Been going to Dynamic Hair Studios for years. Yeah I'm a guy and could probably just go to a Barber but the Prices are fair and the place is quite convenient. read more

I made a reservation online at Dynamic salon for a no chip manicure, but ended up having to wait for half an hour past my appointment time. What actually annoyed me most about this was that the woman at the front desk didn't do anything to acknowledge the wait. Once I finally got in I had a really great experience. The woman who did my manicure was very thorough and the manicure itself lasted over two weeks. Their color selection was pretty limited. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if you want options this isn't the place to go. Overall it was just kind of an average experience for me. If I were rating purely on the manicure it would have been 5 stars for sure, but accounting for the other factors it was just ok. read more

My stylist is currently working here until her regular salon reopens. Of course I got the usual excellent haircut but Dynamic has done a superlative job of reopening with customers' concerns in mind. Everything is spotlessly clean, and the ambiance is fitting for the experience. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Although I will go back to my regular salon - Dynamic is not in my neighborhood - I recommend it highly. read more

The best experience by far. I went in for a facial and was treated like a queen. Michelle is amazing. I will definitely be returning.

Came in on a snowy Saturday to get my haircut and was able to get in a no chip as well. It's right around the corner from my house so it definitely seemed like nice option. Everyone is really nice and the place is super clean and welcoming. read more

I got a manicure there, and was pretty disappointed. I chose dip because I wanted it to last long and in less than a week every finger nail has chipped. I wanted to enjoy this service because the salon is conveniently located but I will not be returning. For the price, not worth it. read more

Stopped in to get my nails done during a lunch hour...just a little treat that I probably should not indulge in. Well, definitely not here anyway! The nail table was so cramped I could barely move and they were in a hallway that was dark. The girl that did my nails tried to sell me a bunch of stuff FOR MY HAIR. Ummm, I'm hear to get my nails did, gal...just do 'em, I don't need a sales job through the whole thing. I just wanna relax and get prettified and not look like im a full time dishwasher (I am not). The salon is sort of dingey and overpriced. read more

I always like to try and support the independently owned/smaller, neighborhood businesses as opposed to chains. I live right down the street from Dynamic Salon. I've always loved their services but I can't get over the initial impression...every time. Each time I've walked in, I've felt like everyone looks at me as if they're surprised to see me. When I ask if I can either make an appointment, or if someone is available at that time, I always feel like I'm imposing on them. I don't understand it. Don't they want business? Everything is fine once I'm in the back with the esthetician, but the initial entrance is always so awkward. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt again today. I called to make an appointment for an eyebrow and lip wax not once but three times. I was hung up on all three times. Someone may want to talk to the guy answering the phones. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I'm starting to lose hope... read more

I love this place! I have been coming here for a few months and always feel like a new woman! I mainly come here to get my face wax and I always love how they do my brows. It's very clean inside and the set up is super cute. Everyone there is so nice and I love the welcoming environment. I came here by referral because my friend knew the owner. I will definitely come back here for facials, mani/pedis and hopefully soon to do my hair. Lovely place. Highly recommend. read more

I was sitting in my chair just as Holly was finishing blow-drying my hair, thinking about how I had a good enough experience to write my first Yelp review... probably 4 stars. Then I went to go pay, and the receptionist said, "That'll be... $110." I made the appointment yesterday on a whim as I was walking past and asked how much highlights would be. The receptionist yesterday said, "They start at $65, and since your hair is short, it'll be $65." So when today's receptionist, Melissa, said that I owed $110 I mentioned that I was told yesterday my highlights would be $65. She replied, "See, what she (Holly) did was charged you $85 for the highlights and $25 to blow-dry," as if this explained at ALL why the price of my highlights wasn't $65. At that point I figured it wasn't worth arguing (plus, I'm just not very confrontational), paid, and left. It isn't the extra $20 that is the problem, it's the fact that either Holly charged me more than she should have, or yesterday's receptionist was mistaken about the price of the service. Either way - lame. My hair looks nice and Holly was very friendly.... just make sure you get an accurate quote if you're wondering what you'll be paying. Final note: only cash for tips, so make sure you have some. read more

Salon was super nice and clean inside! I bought a Groupon for a no-chip manicure, not knowing what to expect. Michelle was very friendly and her took her time. I will be back! read more

I wandered into Dynamic in February 2007 off the street, desparate for a haircut and new stylist. That was when I was introduced to Juliana. I will never let anyone else cut my hair again. I just tell her to do what she wants, and she always makes me look stylish and hip. Great gal, reasonable prices and a hip, comfy atmosphere keep me coming back to Dynamic. read more

This is the place I always get my hair done. Every body is very friendly and the prices, while not cheap, are within most peoples budgets. Every time I come out of there I get complements on my hair. They also have a spa downstairs I believe but I have never tried it. They also have a nice banter going on between each other and they don't make you feel as if you have to participate in conversations just because your getting your hair done.............hmm that reminds me it's time to get my layers redone. read more

Forgot to update my review - I had my wedding party "done" at Dynamic. The owner, Michelle, was a great assistant in setting up the trial, the schedule, and was kind and courteous to my ladies and girls. Lina did my hair and let me be a nutty bride and mess up what she thought looked good into what I thought looked good. They also provided flowers for us to put in our hairstyles, as well as food and drink for everyone - really tasty chicken sandwiches. Not everyone loved their hair, not for the lacking effort in pleasing them - I just think wedding hair is a hard one to achieve greatness in. People should just go with their usual style and shove a flower in and spray. Anyway. Dynamic was great and I'd suggest them to any group needing sprucing or styling. read more

I had a terrible experience at this place. My husband scheduled some spa services for me on my birthday - a one hour massage and a one hour facial. My appointments were at 9 AM. They requested arriving a few minutes early to ensure a prompt start. When I arrived at ten minutes to nine no one was there. Employees were waiting outside because they did not have keys. The "manager" arrived at 5 after nine. I waited another 5 minutes for someone to direct me where to go. I was then approached by the manager to verify my appointments. They had my appointments scheduled wrong - they only had me down for an "Express" 30 minute facial and a massage. She then informed me they were unable to provide the massage service due to the construction. Once led downstairs they couldn't decide what room to put me in because they were all loaded with crap. They were in the middle of renovations so the place was a disaster. I tried not to let the rough start bother me. My facial was accompanied by jack-hammering and all kinds of noise from the renovation taking place that was extremely loud. They obviously new they were in the midst of construction when they gladly schedule the appointments for my husband. He called 2 days before the appointment. They should have closed the spa during the work. My husband was really irritated and asked to speak with the owner. The staff was apologetic but plead "we just work here". It was really frustrating. The owner initially agreed to refund us in full for the facial as the experience was awful. When we noticed that we were not refunded and contacted her she said she had decided to refund half of the cost because the service did take place. read more

Mika is amazing with waxing and very nice. I wouldn't see anyone else. waxing prices are normal. Not cheap, but I really don't want to risk a cut-rate bikini wax! :) The only other service I have ever had there was one mani/pedi. Marginal, but WAY over-priced for the quality. read more

Um, best eyebrows ever after going to this place. Yes it took the stylist (stylist?) 20 minutes, and yes it was significantly pricier than I would normally pay (25 bucks...as opposed to 7 to 10), but it was worth it! My friend would not stop raving. It was like they'd been painted on--in a good way. read more

i hadn't branched away yet from my salon in the suburbs since moving to the city...but i used yelp to help find something more local. i found dynamic and wanted to return the favor by letting you know what a great experience i had! This place is very nice. Good music, friendly staff, and affordable men's haircuts. Eddy was my hair professional. He did my hair, gave great conversation, and helped me feel right at home. Definitely give this place a shot. $30 is a good price for this area. read more

Margarita's and Manicure's anyone? This was a Spa event that takes place every last Wednesday. I headed over there with a bunch of my girlfriends and we had an AWESOME time. Service was great, Margarita's were delicious and Appetizers were scrumptious. I even did a little shopping in between my mani, pedi, waxing, facial and make-up. It was nice to get pampered while hanging out with the girls. Can't wait to do this again. read more

I opened a Yelp account just to rave about what a great salon this is. I've been coming here for quite some time now. I get my No-Chip manicure done here religiously every 2 weeks and I absolutely love it!!! I also get my hair cut there and John is amazing. I have long hair and he does a fantastic job keeping it looking good without sacrificing too much length. I pretty much go there for everything beauty related and they've never let me down!! read more

It was my first time at Dynamic hair studio. Honestly I tried lots of places before, since it's not easy for me to find someone to trust with my hair. I was lucky to have Lina cut my hair and I'm very happy with it. I think Dynamic hair studio has a style and highly recommend this Salon. read more

I received a mani/pedi gift here. The pedicure area is nice and calming, but I agree with the other review that the nail table is cramped. The girl who did my nails was great (Esmerelda) and the products are all very high quality and nicely presented. Overall it was a great experience! read more

went to a special event here, manis and margaritas and it was fun and awesome!

I went back to Dynamic on Division only to find that Lina is no longer at this location (they opened another salon elsewhere). I had another stylist a couple of times and just was not happy either time. I left both times with splotches of color on my neck and face from her not applying it carefully enough (or caring/noticing when it happened). The cut was just ok, and not worth the price. She didn't spend a lot of time before the cut to determine what I wanted, and I felt like she didn't have much advice or expertise to share with me on styles that would work for me, as I had really appreciated about Lina. I guess lesson learned for me - my first great experience was thanks to Lina and I'm now on the hunt for another great salon in the area... read more

I am a longtime client of Holly's from Dynamic Hair Studio on Divison, I called to make an appointment and was told she was "gone." When I asked how to reach her I was told I'd get a call back which never came. I finally reached Holly on my own to discover she has moved on. I am happy to follow her! She is still cutting hair in Wicker Park. Clients looking to contact Holly can reach her at 815-814-9551. read more

Have been going to Dynamic for No Chip Manicures and I must say that they are the best! If you request the owner, Michelle, to do your No Chip, you will have the best No Chip! Went in for my first appointment for a no-chip manicure. I purchased two no-chip manicures on Groupon. First of all, it's difficult to get an appointment- they seem to not have many slots open. Called to make the appointment and the front-desk guy hung up on me after telling me they didn't have any appointments available for the next two weeks. I call again at another time and book my appointment. By this time, my Groupon is about to expire in two weeks. They were nice and honored the second no-chip after the expiration. When I arrived for the second no-chip apppintment, the front desk guy is sitting on his phone. After he finally asks what I am here for, I tell him I have an appointment for a no-chip manicure. He asks with whom. I say I didn't know. Now, no one ever told me with whom the appointment is with. He says, "well you have to know who it's with. We have multiple technicians." I tell him I was never told who it is with and even the email and text confirmation that I received didn't tell me. He tells me to take a seat and he returns to his phone call. After he is off the phone, he tells me there is only one technition today and she is late. I get it, sometimes you run late. But I am a nurse and I work night shift. I woke up early so I could get in the only appointment available before I can go back to bed before work that night. Working night shift means this is what I deal with (waking up for normal people appointments and whatnot) but at least be on time and don't keep me waiting for more than the 20 minutes I had to sit and wait for an appointment that I had scheduled. Needless to say, there are hundreds of salons in Chicago and to be honest, much closer to my house. I will go elsewhere for the same prices where their staff are actually punctual and don't give me a hard time about who I'm supposedly scheduled to see. read more

Why is it so hard for some hair "stylists" to give you what you want? Maybe they don't listen. They may think they know better. Or perhaps they just don't have the training to deliver the goods. Either is deadly in the services industry and, unfortunately, what you can expect at the Dynamic Hair Studio. I'm told my stylist is the best they have (I'll show mercy here and spare her name). I'm used to visiting high-end salons, paying a lot more and getting what I ask for. I give specific instructions: easy trim, shape it and texture. Just go follow the style in place. Instead of a fashion-forward professional adult male styling, I get an overly-aggressive cut reminiscent of the late '80's "Saved by the Bell" cast. You know it's trouble when the stylist goes for the hard sell on how much you'll love it "when it grows in." That's like getting a new fitted suit and the tailor saying it'll be perfect after you put on 20 lbs. If you want a professional salon cut for a man from a properly trained stylist, look elsewhere. If you love Supercuts, then the Dynamic Hair Studio is right for you. read more
